The psychology provided in noom is much the same as what is offered in other online and subscription based weightloss tools. And when you boil down the app it really is just another calorie counter and weight tracker. The coaches offer general content that does not seem particcularly customized. Lastly, when I was added to a group that was almost entirely made up of women I realized this was not likely to help me much as I was hoping to interact with other men about weightloss. All told, while I am sure it works for some it was not the program for me.
I really like Noom! This is my second time with Noom and they’ve made some significant improvements since the last time that’s allowed me to benefit more from it! They’ve fixed the typos and grammatical errors that were all over the earlier versions. I do think it’s working and I am learning a lot and I am seeing some weight loss. The only thing preventing me from giving it 5 stars is its food logging has some issues and it’s group chat is hard to navigate. The food color system is great and very eye opening but a lot of foods in the database are ranked in multiple color categories making it confusing. The group chat is very hard to navigate making it difficult to respond to posts because they get lost and you can’t search anything to navigate to the post you want to find! If they fix these issues I would give Noom 5 starts!
Hard to follow. Reading is required daily and if you dont check into the group daily, you can get behind, the group doesnt even know that you're not there. Also no meal planning, recipes or food tips so far. Also the personal coach can take days to respond, no 24 hour help.
Program was ok. Didn't like that their billing practice was somewhat deceitful, advertising a low monthly cost but not telling you up front that they are going to bill you for 6 months at once and you don't get a refund.
I love Noom! I have tried other weight loss programs and, although able to lose weight, was never able to successfully keep it off. I realize now that it was because I never addressed the underlying reasons behind why I was eating what I did/as much as I did. Noom provides me with the why! After 14 weeks, I am down 27 lbs! My relationship with food has changed and I have been making small, sustainable changes that I know will last a lifetime. Although I have more to lose, I believe I can and no longer fear that I will gain it back. Thanks Noom!
I purchased a 4-month subscription to Noom and had a positive experience with the program. I did not wish to renew and was not aware that the program would auto-renew and charge another $129 without any notice. They did not alert me that my subscription was coming to an end and would be auto-renewed. I contacted customer service to cancel on 5//19, which was the exact day my credit card was charged. They refunded half of the amount charged ($64.50) but would not refund the entire subscription. I can understand pro-rating a refund, but is it fair to charge me for 2 months of the service when I requested it on the day it renewed? This is not a fair or sustainable business practice. They are going to end up angering consumers who otherwise would have recommended their program.
Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter has been resolved.
Noom customer service did respond to my second email late last night and refunded the entire amount of the subscription. They did the right thing. I still feel that they owe their customers an advance notice that their subscription is going to auto-renew unless they take action. It would help alleviate the angst that occurs by making it so difficult to get a refund.
Thank you.
Sincerely
I have had a great experience with NOOM so far. I value the psychology, science and facts used in the program. It is creating a new way of life and is not a fad diet. The humor used in the app is great. There is a coach that checks in with me weekly and a group coach to facilitate the group. I am enjoying the group support as well. NOOM includes some recipes for me to try, encouragement and challenges. I have been successful with this program - 15lbs in 7 weeks!
Noom has finally helped me to "break" some bad habits and STAY on course and that is what I need. I share with friends and they ask me WHAT IS NOOM, and I say "It is a daily 15 minute college course on nutrition and healthy choices". Many are put off by the "cost" and I remind them they would spend that much a month in "bad food choices". I am NOT spending my $$ on chocolate or ice cream (my elephants - for you noomnerds) and that is helping offset the cost of Noom.
4 stars instead of 5 is that my step counter cannot deal with my minor limp and really doesn't keep track correctly, I have to update it daily. I have not heard of others having the problem (shared it with my Noom-support group) and so I am attributing it to my limp.
I love the articles and tracking but have been unimpressed by my coaches.
Did the free trial, gave them my cc. Big mistake! I learned you have to have a smart phone and download an app in order to use this program which I do not. I immediately canceled, moments after signing up, only to find that when I got my cc statement they had charged me for a years subscription anyway! Nearly $150...……..NOT HAPPY! And you can't even get ahold of a real person to get your money back. You have to use the app, which I don't have, to cancel! TOTAL SCAM!!! I want a full refund and I won't stop until I get it!
I really like this program, it has helped me! That said, there are plenty of bugs in the app. Logging food and recipes could be greatly improved. Having the coaches is nice, but the groups are large so it takes up time and I don't the group to be helpful. Still, I would recommend Noom to anyone trying to lose weight or make changes for a healthier lifestyle. Hopefully the kinks will get ironed out.
I started the 14 day free trial of Noom and on day 12 of my free trial my app started crashing every time I opened it. I have a new iPhone X. I emailed customer service regarding the issue, they walked me through some troubleshooting steps such as resetting my phone, deleting the app, redownload the app, make sure my phone was updated. The app continued to crash every time I tried to open it. I was charged $129 for a 4 month plan on day 15. I received an email from customer service on day 15 that there was an issue with my account and I would have to unsubscribe to which a pro-rated refund would be issued, and then I would have to re-purchase the app and start over from day one. I e-mailed to confirm the refund and I have received three e-mails back saying because it was past my 14 day trial period no issue would be refunded. I still can't open the app to use at it crashes every time I open, and they still refuse to issue a refund, even though the app quit working during my free trial and I still can't even open the app because it crashes. Customer service is terrible, the phone number associated with Noom is an automated message telling you to log into your app to cancel subscriptions or manage your account, which I can't do because the app isn't working on my phone. All the e-mails I receive back are what appear to be automated replies, even while in the program it self the coach I was assigned seemed to be all automated replies. So frustrated and incredibly disappointed.
I love Noom! I've been through countless other programs, but they weren't sustainable and focused solely on what the scale said. Noom walks you through the psychology behind it. I love the articles and activities they suggest. Most of all I love how I feel supported in this journey and never feel shamed if I treat myself or if the number on the scale goes up instead of down. 8 weeks completed and I've lost 23 pounds. This is sustainable, and I believe I can meet my goals.
The only thing I'd like to change is that I cant find a way to add my own recipes to determine calories/breakdown of the food (Android user).
I also read other people's comments about cost and refund policy. The four month rate is comparable to other group programs. Also, the refund and cancellation policy was very clearly stated upfront before I signed up.
I love Noom. It keeps me motivated. They give you ideas on how to switch things up so it doesn't get boring. I have learned a lot on this weight loss journey. It works!
Six weeks into my journey with Noom, I am wearing the skinniest jeans in my closet, the ones I've held onto for years, in the hopes that I would fit into them *someday. And they're fitting like a pair of fine tailored silk gloves, not leather/latex bondage wear.
I don't think many realize how much psychology plays a role in weightloss. Noom's daily topics gave me active awareness to issues I could be experiencing, and the tasks helped me evaluate actions. All in all, I am very pleased with my experience.
Noom is the first of its kind; an app that incorporates tools and meaning to support healthy lifestyle changes. It’s easy, no stress, no pressure, and it works! One of the few products that actually does what it advertises.
Fun,helpful, informative!! Oh...and IT WORKS!!!! Love being a NOOMER and knowing how to choose the right foods for me. Just DO IT!!!! You’ll be happy you did
This program has changed my mindset about “dieting”. This is a sustainable method of losing weight and to follow these principles for a lifetime!
Love Noom, it has given me back hope that I can make better choices and get healthy again!
It works for me. I need the daily contact and lessons. I used a lot of the receipes. It's great to have the coach and the group interaction. I have learned so much. The support is awesome.
