Optima Tax’s management has attempted to contact the client and
we are hopeful that we can come to a mutual resolve. The client alleges that
Optima Tax is not diligent in its operations because it requested documents
from the client multiple times. When Optima requests documents from the client
it instructs the client on the specific requirements that are required by the
IRS for each document. Once we receive requested documents from the client, we provide
them to the IRS accordingly. The IRS agent receiving the documents will review
them and make the final decision of whether to accept the documents. In the
event that the agent decides not to accept a document, Optima Tax must ask the
client to resubmit the document. Given the sheer volume of documents the IRS
processes, there is often a lapse in time between when we send documents to the
IRS and when we are given a response. This explains the lapse in time between
our requests that the client identifies.
 
Although
the client believes his case is not complex, the IRS does not treat any case
with less scrutiny. Moreover, Optima Tax believes all of its client’s cases are
important and seek to provide the best possible result for our clients.
Therefore, we thoroughly analyze each case and this process can take time. In
contrast to the client’s belief, we were on the verge of finalizing a
resolution with the IRS on the client’s behalf when he became non-responsive.
 
Once we
were advised that the client wanted to cancel our services and was seeking a
refund, one of our Executive Relations representatives immediately reached out
to the client. We have no record of the client returning her calls. The agent
also sent out a non-responsive email urging the client to contact us to discuss
his concerns. Unfortunately the client never gave us an opportunity to address
his concerns prior to receiving the complaint.

’s management has been in communication with the client to address his concerns as outlined in the complaint. As the client stated, he initially contacted Optima Tax to address his tax liability. After we concluded our first phase Investigation the client signed up for our second phase Resolution Services thereafter.
As we do with all of our clients, we thoroughly analyze and determine what the client may or may not qualify for from a resolution standpoint based on their overall financial standing in correlation to their overall tax liability. When the client first enrolled onto the Resolution Phase, we performed a meticulous Audit Reconsideration analysis to determine if we could have potentially reversed the IRS’s findings as to his liability based on their Audit Examination Report. Client unfortunately was not able to provide any documents or substantiation to alter the outcome. We then began the process of preparing and filing client’s 2013-2014 Amended Tax Returns. Generally, any form of tax preparation and or filing compliance is required prior to negotiating any tangible or long term means of resolution with the IRS. Client had his 2015 Tax Return prepared and filed through his own accord and would have received a refund but this was taken by the IRS and applied to his overall outstanding liability. Although unfortunate that this was the case since client had been anticipating this refund, any and all refunds will be applied to one’s liability if still owed.
It is unfortunate that client expressed that communication and or timely follow up was a primary issue for them because we have been diligent in our level of communication throughout this process and we have kept client reasonably informed as to the next steps and or the overall trajectory of his case. Client had also expressed concern as to the time frame involved and is of the notion that no tangible progress has been made on his file. While this process overall can be lengthy, we are at a point or stage in his case where a substantial amount of time and effort has been spent on client's file and that is why we are now at a point to determine if he is a candidate for a Hardship or Reduction program. Is so (based on his financials), we will move forward with a balance reduction submission. If not, we will work with the IRS to establish a feasible alternative on his behalf.
After further explaining the situation to client, we are happy to announce that he has expressed a desire to continue with services and come to a mutual resolve on this matter. Both parties have set proper expectations and understand what is expected of them in order to avoid any future issues and ensure that client's file moves along in a timely fashion.

complaint since August 26, 2016. During that call the client stated that she feels nothing has been done on her case. The client was reminded that our approach with her case, and every case we take on, is a collaborative effort and we require her involvement in order to resolve her case. The client was aware of this requirement because it is stipulated in the Client Services Agreement, which the client signed. Contrary to the client’s belief that services were not performed, Optima Tax and her assigned team had been trying diligently to reach her in order to obtain important financial information in order to prepare critical tax documents to send to the IRS. More specifically, our Tax Preparation team attempted to establish communication in an effort to bring the client in full IRS compliance so we may work towards a final resolution. To date, the client did not return any of our Tax Preparation department’s messages.   Shortly after enrollment, in May, the client advised her assigned Case Manager that she cannot make her scheduled payment. She also requested that we resume her payments in June. Unfortunately the client never rescheduled and her case ultimately was placed on a hold. Since then, the client never returned any calls to give Optima Tax a status update on her payment and whether or not she wanted to continue with our services.   In our agreement we specifically outline our refund policy, which includes a specific time period. The client was beyond the timeline to request a full refund; however, Optima Tax will review such a request on a case by case basis. Although there were no grounds to issue a refund, one was presented to the client as a courtesy because she was dissatisfied. Moreover, the increase only shows our willingness to continue working with the client to achieve a mutually satisfying agreement.   At Optima Tax we strive to uphold the philosophy that "clients come first" and all of our representatives go through rigorous training to assure we abide by that philosophy. Optima Tax’s management has made
contact with the client to discuss her concerns as outlined in the complaint. We
are disappointed to hear that the client feels as if she was ripped off due to
not being aware of the secondary retainer. However, after a careful review, the
client signed our Client Services Agreement which clearly states that there
will be a secondary retainer if the client decides to move forward into our
Resolution Phase. Furthermore, the client went through
a personal Verification Call, which was recorded, where she confirmed and
acknowledged that there will be a secondary retainer upon entering into our
Resolution Phase.
 
After
the Investigation was complete, the Tax Associate presented the client with our
findings and the specialized services we will perform in order to resolve her
case. Due to the complexity of her case, a significant retainer was required
for the resolution phase. Optima Tax never demanded the client to pay this
secondary retainer. In contrast, we simply presented the client with her
options as well as the pricing and the client decided not to move forward with
the resolution phase. Also, based on her desire to work with Optima, while also
expressing a concern about affordability, we presented her with an extended
payment arrangement that we believe would have lessened any financial burden,
but she respectfully declined. We understand that affordability plays a major
roll with our clients but, this does not negate the fact that we completed a
thorough Investigation into the client’s tax liability. It’s unfortunate that
we could not continue our business relationship but we are happy to say that we
did come to a mutual and satisfactory agreement.

them that Optima had performed a full and thorough Investigation and that we
presented our findings to the clients, to which they agreed. Initially, the
client stated that they had not received the transcript of their case. Upon
reviewing the clients’ case, it was shown that the Tax Associate did provide
certain documents to the clients, however, it appears there was some
misunderstanding causing incorrect documents to be transmitted. Upon this
discovery, Optima Tax quickly remedied
this issue and provided the client with the requested documents. The clients have
confirmed they are satisfied with the outcome of our conversations and Optima
appreciates their willingness to work through
this issue.

As the client stated in their complaint, Optima Tax conducted a thorough investigation into the client’s tax liability and presented him with our formulated strategy on how we can help resolve his case.   We understand that pricing can ultimately weigh in on the client’s decision to move forward with our services. As such, Optima Tax is very transparent in our approach to each case we take on, ensuring our clients are fully informed of all pricing for services offered. Here, the client was fully aware that there would be secondary cost associated with our second phase enrollment. This is covered in our Client Services Agreement and the multiple verification calls the client went through which covers all legal disclosures and pricing prior to the client enrolling with Optima Tax. The secondary fee is covered in the legal disclosures and each disclosure requires a “Yes” answer before moving forward. If the client requests further information or does not agree to any disclosure Optima Tax does not begin services until all questions and concerns are addressed. After several years of unfiled taxes and sleepless nights I finally made the call to Optima Tax Relief. The gentleman who took my call was polite and understanding. He explained my options and fees for their services. He did not make any promises but did assure me they would do the best they could. After the call I got my first good nights sleep in a very long time. He was very precise on what information I needed to provide them and that time was critical. From that day forward Optima Tax stayed in contact with me and kept me up to date on the progress of my case. My case has been settled completely to my satisfaction. I received two follow up calls from my consultant asking if I had any question or concerns with my case.
If you have an issue with the IRS I would strongly suggest you give the professionals at Optima Tax Relief call. It's difficult to put a price on peace of mind.

Optima Tax's management has continued to make contact with the
cliet to discuss and fully resolve his concerns as outlined in the complaint. Although
initially the client may not have agreed with our first response, we have
documented evidence to support our response and its accuracy. After further explaining
the situation in detail to the Client, we are pleased to say that all issues
have been resolved by Optima Tax and a mutual resolution has been reached with
the client.
As the
client stated, he submitted a request for a new Case Manager to which we
complied with even though the client had yet to make a payment for three months
and was on a payment hold. Although the client was still on payment hold, we
went beyond the scope of our normal protocol, and continued to service the case.
The new Case Manager made repeated attempts to gather the necessary financial
documents from the client. Unfortunately, the client could not provide us with
the necessary completed financials which ultimately hindered our ability to
work his case.
Please
note that Optima Tax never refused to send copies of client’s tax returns to
him. In fact, the tax returns we had on file were copies and the client had the
originals in his possession already. Regardless, we still mailed out additional
copies of the returns to the client for his records. Optima Tax makes it a top
priority of ours to address any concerns our clients may have. We are pleased
to say that we have come to a mutual resolve with the client and consider this
matter closed.

Optima tax literally saved me financially. I'm a single mom with two kids and was without a job for 5 months, so had to dip into my retirement just to live until I found new employment. To my surprise, when doing my taxes for that year, I found out that I owed the IRS almost $15,000. I looked into Optima Tax which I was a little leery about, but saw that it was approved by the Revdex.com, so I decided to give it a try for help. To initially get into their program there is a fee, but from that point on, I did not pay a cent for their services. They did make it known up front with honesty that every case is different, but they would work hard to work with the IRS on a compromise. I had frequent contact with the providers at Optima Tax. The process is not quick, but there was always somebody there to answer my questions or they are really good about returning calls. I was able to get a settlement with the IRS and am so thankful to the people that worked hard for me. Don't know where I would be without them. I would rate them an A.

Great Communication, I never felt alone during a difficult time.

I was initially skeptical, and dodged Optima Tax Relief. I asked questions over and over, and was leery about giving them my credit card information over the phone. After, Optima Tax Relief asked me to come visit their office and meet with them, I then felt at ease.
I signed up with Optima Tax Relief over the phoneand I did not regret it. They informed clearly of the possible outcome for a delinquent $10,000 amount I owed to IRS.
In about 5-6 months time, Optima Tax Relief, through Power Of Attorney gathered all required tax papers from me, communicated with the IRS on my behalf, brought all my tax paperwork up to date, and at the end, they constructed a Settlement with the IRS for $50.00 because of my hardship.

any calls or emails. Although it’s unfortunate he had experienced the
frustrations as he described, we made multiple attempts prior to receiving the
complaint to address his concern. Unfortunately the client never responded to
those attempts. It is regrettable that the client was having issues with faxes,
however, although we receive a large amount of faxes daily, there has not been
any indication that there was a problem with our faxes. If the client had
returned our initial phone calls we could have better ascertained the issue and
possibly forward it to our Information Technology team to fix any technical issues.
In light of client’s nonresponsiveness, however, we have no choice but to close
this case per his request but we will continue to make contact with the client
to address his concerns.

I like a lot of people I was skeptical to use Optima Tax Relief even though I knew I needed their services. I called a couple of times but didn't feel confident in what was being said to me. Then I talked to Ethan at extention 152 and he took the time to help me understand the process. Through out the process If I had questions or couldn't get in touch with another department I could call Ethan and he would help. It's a lengthy process but it was worth it. I have already spread the word to my friends and family to work with Optima for tax issues.

We did educate the client that there is a fair amount of internal work done on his case but since his case was prolonged from his initial complaint, he has yet to allow us the dedicated time to investigate his case and present him with a formulated strategy to resolve his case as a whole. We also informed the client that negotiations and further discussions with the IRS do not commence until he decides to enroll into our Resolution Phase of our two Phase approach.
 
It’s truly unfortunate the client feels the way he does, however we are pleased that we were able to reach a mutual agreement with him and amicably resolve this matter.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  I have emailed and spoken with the business in response to the filed complaint. The information conveyed by them during those calls does not match the information conveyed in their response to the Revdex.com. Among other things, their representative made several false statements regarding the revenue officer of the IRS (i.e., that they earn commission on taxes they collect and are therefore unwilling to be reasonable), and did not address the lack of communication, failure to timely return calls or emails, and failure to file necessary appeals paperwork with the IRS to prevent collections activity, none of which were dependent on the timing of my delivery of documentation to Optima.
I am still demanding a full refund of all amounts owed.
