Plain Green Loans Reviews (294)

Review: I was contacted at my place of employment by someone on behalf of Plain Green LLC. I spoke with the lady to make arrangements. After speaking with someone in regards to this legal matter I was told that Plain Green LLC was not an authorized company to provide loans for Georgia. I was transferred to a gentleman whom I asked for paperwork to be emailed or mailed to me. He said I should have the paperwork from the original loan but I can't find it I have moved since then. The man then got upset and started to loud talk me because I said I wanted to make sure this was not a scam. About a year ago I was a victim of a scam someone obtained my information called and said they were on behalf of a loan I once had. After giving my information I discovered later that the loan did not exist. They took money from my account. I was able to find an email from Plain Green where I first received the loan on January 2012 for $500. The man said it was for $700 I can not find paperwork for that amount. The interest is crazy they are asking for $1441.11 total which is over double the amount of the loan. I am sure I have paid the loan itself off and the rest of this ridiculous amount is interest. I was then threatened with a garnishment and told that my court cost would be and additional $1500 which is crazy. I explained to them that due to my financial status I could only pay a total of $100 a month. She said that would be good for this month and if I could not pay it off next month the offer for the $800 settlement is off the table and they would need the full balance of $1441.11. I will not pay that amount of money to these people this is ridiculous. I have also contacted the Attorney General to file a complaint as well. I am also sure if we go to court I would come out better. The interest they charge is illegal for the state of Georgia. Also the man I spoke with hung up in my face as well so unprofessional.Desired Settlement: I have made prior payments in the beginning of this loan before falling on hard times and feel that some of the original loan has been paid. I would like to have the settlement amount offered for the $800 and legitimate paperwork sent to me stating that this is the agreed amount. I will then make payments on this balance. I also would like to be contacted on my personal phone and not my place of employment. If this amount is not an option then I guess we will have to take it to the next level.

I don't have the paper work from this loan that's the problem. The only thing I have is an email from the original loan saying I was approved for $500 I cannot locate the contract. That is the reason for me asking them for paperwork. I also no longer bank with the bank that I was using for my payments at that time. I have received an email from Plain Green and not the collection company. They told me to contact them about this situation. I am hoping they can give me some paper work. Like I stated I made some payments towards the loan. The original loan of $500 to $1441 that is almost 3 times the loan.

Review: I recently became aware that payday lending in Pa is not legal... I have a payday loan with Plain Green and offered to repay the principal only... they said they would close my account but they continue to withdrawl money.Desired Settlement: the company should allow me to repay the principal only or accept nothing.

Review: I unfortunately had some money troubles while trying to finish school and had to borrow and repay and then borrow and repay several loans from this illegal lender. I have overpaid interest in the amount of $1,645.67. This last loan was for $1,400. I have already paid $759 in interest I addition to paying the full loan back. They claim I still owe $1,430 I order to satisfy the loan. This company is not licensed to make loans in Michigan and is operating outside the lending laws of Michigan. I would like a letter stating my account is paid in full in addition to a refund in the amount of $1,645.67.

Thank you so much for your help!Desired Settlement: $1,645.47 as well as my account being closed and reported as paid in full.

Review: Plain green loans made a loan to me even though payday loans are illegal in New Jersy, they are not licensed in NJ, and their interest rates violate NJ usary laws. I have overpaid this loan by more than 800 dollars of illegally charged interest and they continue to harass me.Desired Settlement: I want a refund of the illegally charged interest, and Plain Green must never contact me again.

Review: I borrowed money from Plain Green in 2012 and was making payments as agreed. Then someone got ahold of my bank info from online, I think somehow it was related to when I was looking into getting the loan, so I had to lose my account. The people who had my bank info also had other personal info on me. They stared to call me at work saying I borrowed money from them and I didn't even recognize the company name. They were very mean on the phone and really scared me. I had to change my email and phone numbers as well as my bank account. I sent Plain Green an email to let them know what happened and that as soon as I got another bank account I would let them know. I was so scared from what had happened I did not get another bank account for several months. Between the time I closed my account and the time I finally opened my account Plain Green was calling my job and my home everyday. Today 7/23/13 someone called my 73 year old mother and was threatening her telling her that her, my dad, and everyone else in my family was going to be served papers to appear in court. It really shook her up so I called them and told them I have no money right now to pay them because I was laid off in January and haven't worked since. The lady I spoke to asked me how many kids I have and I told her 4. She asked how I was supporting myself and my kids I told her I am on unemployment. She then asked how much I get paid I told her $800.00 every 2 weeks. She said do you want this to go to court because if it goes to court I will wind up paying 18,000 when I only borrowed $1,000.00. What the heck is that about? I told her no I don't want to go to court! She said hold on just a second and 15 minutes later I was still on hold so I hung up. I will pay them $50.00 a month if they will allow that but I am not going to pay a balance of $18,000.00, they are crazy!!!Desired Settlement: I want to pay them $50.00 a month but I do not want to give them my bank info.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID 9634567, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

I never received an email from the company but I'm not sure if they have my correct email because as I told them, someone got ahold of my bank account information and my email account info and was harassing me at work and through my email. I believe that they obtained this information when I applied for the loan with Plain Green.

Review: On July 2, 2012 I received a loan through Plain Green Loans. The original loan account # was [redacted]. I made on-time bi-weekly payments of 126.74 through 2/1/2013. I had paid back $1,774.36. On 2/2/2013 I was offered an additional $672.12 on loan #[redacted] making my total loan balance $1400.00. I continued to make on_time payments of $142.52 bi-weekly. To date for 2013 I have paid $997.64. In total for a $1400.00 loan I have paid back $2,772.00. According to my account I have 26 more payments of $142.52 which is another $3,705.52. My loan balance is still $1,319.51 I have never spoken to anyone regarding this loan. They never called to verify anything. The money was placed in my account with no one to verify I was who I said I was. Nothing was explained. I feel I have been taken advantage of because of my poor credit situation. I also did not know these type of high interest loans are illegal in my state. I would have never considered had I known I would fall victim to being taken advantage of.Desired Settlement: I would like the balance to be considered paid in full. I have paid almost double what I borrowed.

Regards,

I have been a Plain Green customer for more than 2 years. I have had 2 loans from them that were both paid on time, more than the minimum and paid off months early. I applied for another loan and was offered MUCH less than previous. My job, etc had remained unchanged. I could get NO reason for this from customer service. They stated they consider many things but apparently not prior track record. If you're looking to get a loan from a company that will reward loyalty forget Plain Green.

Review: I have paid plain green loans over $7000 for an $800 loan. I dealt with them in 2008. I borrowed the $800 in 2008 and paid $7000 on this loan. Review: I borrowed money from Plain Green Loans. They misrepresented their loan charges to me via telephone before I took out the loan. I have found that their interest rate exceeds the usury rate of 21% in my state of RI. They have not responded to my attempts to contact them to rectify this situation. Review: I had an agreement with plain green loans to pay off my loan in full with a total of 5 payments of 138.90. I fulfilled that agreement back in November of 2013. I asked for a letter stating that my account is paid in full and that no other action is required. I never received the letter. I called today 01/09/2014 and asked for a letter again stating that my loan is paid in full. I was told that my loan is not paid in full but settled in full and that I still have a balance. That is not the arrangement I was told when I entered into an arrangement with this company. I now have the loan listed on my credit report as having a balance. I would like the balance removed from my credit report and it stated that the loan is paid in full as agreed upon.Desired Settlement: I would like the loan stated paid in full. I would like it to reflect a zero balance on my credit report.

Regards,

My husband and I needed a short-term loan to finance our deposit on an apartment since I got a new job and were relocating. The finance charge is pretty steep (as is to be expected with any-short term loan) but we didn't have any issues at all! We applied for the money at about 2:00pm (PST) and got the money in our bank account THE NEXT DAY which was amazing. Paid off the loan about a week later, and the payoff process was extremely simple, I did it all online. This was definitely a life-saver.

Review: I received a loan on July 30, 2012 from Plain Green Loans. The original account number was [redacted] for $1,000. I made bi-weekly payment of $125.93 from 8/16/12 - 2/28/13 for a total of $1888.95. On 3/5/13 I was offered $711.73 to pay off the original loan and a deposit of $688.27 which I received on account number [redacted]. This made my new balance $1400. Going back over my records, this made no sense because none of the $1888.95 was applied to principle, it was all interest fees. From 3/15/13 - 5/24/13 I paid an additional $843.84. In all I have paid $2,732.79 on a $1400 loan. No one contacted me before depositing this money. No one explained anything. I have never spoken to anyone from Plain Green. Nothing was verified. I would like to come to a fair agreement considering I have paid almost double what I borrowed.Desired Settlement: I would like to have the original principle considered paid in full with no further payments coming from my checking account.

To date, I have not spoken to anyone from Plain Green. They called twice and my fiancee answered and took a message for me. Review: I had a payment due, I paid it 4/14/2013. Not knowing they had already took out for the payment, which they should not have. I have bills to pay (lights and gas), which cannot be paid because of them which means my children have to be taken somewhere because I won't have lights and gas. I told them that I didn't have money for them to take the double payment and they said its nothing they can do. I'm very mad at myself for not reading these reviews on this Company. If they had already taken money out of my account I don't understand why they would let me make another payment for the month of April. My children are now stuck not having because of them.Desired Settlement: I would like to be refunded the extra payment they took,so I am able to pay my bills and continue to take care of my children.

Dear Mr. [redacted],

We are in receipt of complaint id 9509166. submitted by [redacted], regarding Plain Green's business practices, and thank you for the opportunity to address these concerns.

We are sorry to hear about the unfortunate events Ms. [redacted] experienced with Plain Green Loans. We have completed a review of her account and find that her payment due date was April 15, 2013. In order to change her payment she would have had to log online by 5:00 PM EST on April 12, 2013 which is the banking business day prior to her due date. This information regarding payment scheduling and changes is outlined in the payment section of her loan agreement.

Our records indicate her attempt to schedule a payment online was made on April 13, 2013 which was unsuccessful. Our records also indicate that a subsequent attempt was made online on April 14, 2013 and this attempt was successful resulting in her normally scheduled payment as well as the payment that she initiated.

The payment that she initiated on April 14, 2013 for April 15, 2013 was returned by her bank for insufficient funds. We apologized for the confusion and as a courtesy, we will waive the $30.00 NSF fee that was charged on her Plain Green Loan.

If she has any additional questions we encourage her to contact us.

Sincerely,

Plain Green LLC

Review: Loan ID# 66147896It has come to my attention that payday lenders must be licensed by the state of California in order to offer loans to its residents. Since Plain Green Loans has no license in my state, the loan contract I have is not valid. On 12/3/2012 I was approved for my third loan through Plain Green Loans at $1600. I did not have any issues with the prior loans and were paid on time and paid in full. The interest on this current loan is ridiculous. To this day, I have paid 9 payments totaling $1304.10, of which only $46.64 was applied to the principle.Another issue is I called them to cancel a payment to be processed, which they did, and I would call back with new bank information. On 4/26/13 I told the customer service representative I would call back on Monday 4/29/13 with the new banking information, but she said she would give me until Tuesday the 30th just in case I was unable to call on time. I called in on Monday evening and was told by another customer service representative that the payment was already being sent to the banking information on file. I told him that the account is closed and all he could say was it was too late because the payment has already been sent to the bank and a NSF fee would be added to my loan.Desired Settlement: I have already paid $1304.10 and would like that to be deducted from the $1600 loan. I will pay the remaining balance of $295.90 in two payments of $147.95.

RE: Customer Name - [redacted]

Complaint ID # - 9530320

Dear Mr. [redacted]

We are in receipt of complaint id 9530320. submitted by [redacted], regarding Plain Green's business practices, and thank you for the opportunity to address these concerns.

On 5/14/13, Mr. [redacted] had responded to our correspondence as satisfied with the agreement we proposed to him.

Sincerely,

Plain Green LLC

I found that my credit score had been lowered because there was a new "hard credit inquiry" even though I had not applied for anything. I called TransUnion and the only way to get it off is to get a letter from the company (Plain Green) stating they will remove it. They will only check into it if I give them my social security number, date of birth, etc. - which is not happening. How did they get my social security number to be able to do this to me?
Then I received a letter in the mail thanking me for choosing Plain Green for my new loan of $1,400 at an APR of 259.28%. Supposedly, this is their standard advertising letter.
I don't know how they are allowed to do business like this.

Review: Dear Plain Green It has come to my attention that payday lenders must be licensed by the state of Oklahoma in order to offer loans to its residents. Since your company has no license in my state, the loan contract I have with you is not valid. Although I am not legally required to do so, I am willing to repay the principal balance of this loan. To date, I received a deposit of $1000.00 on October 31st, 2012, and have had 10 bi-weekly withdrawals of $133.29 debited from my account. This results in an overpayment of $332.90.At this time I am requesting a return email acknowledging that my loan has been paid in full. Also, I would like a refund of the $332.90 overpayment. A refund check of $332.90 should be mailed to me at the address you have on file. I am also revoking authorization for ACH withdrawals and any wage assignment I may have signed. I have given a copy of these revocations to both my bank and my employer. Any future attempts to collect funds in this manner will be blocked. Please respond to this email with acknowledgment that my account has been satisfied in full. Details of when I can expect the refund check, as discussed above, should also be included in the email.Desired Settlement: "Paid in Full" notice sent to my home address and email address on account in regards to this account is all that I request. I borrowed $1000.00 and I paid $1332.90. As of now I will not demand a refund in the amount of $332.90

Dear Mr. [redacted],

We are in receipt of complaint id 9488748. submitted by [redacted], regarding Plain Green's business practices, and thank you for the opportunity to address these concerns.

To further clarity her questions regarding the legality of this loan, Plain Green is organized under the laws of the Chippewa-Cree Tribe of the Rocky Boy's Indian Reservation of Montana ("Chippewa-Cree"). Plain Green is owned by the Chippewa-Cree, and operates exclusively on land owned by the Chippewa-Cree. As such, Plain Green stands as an "Arm of the Tribe," in the view of the United States state and federal courts. Therefore, loans made by an arm of a sovereign Indian nation are not subject to state law. This is NOT a payday loan.

We have reached out to Ms. [redacted] on 4/17/13 to address her concerns.

Sincerely,

Plain Green LLC
