Retrieval-Masters Creditors Bureau, Inc Reviews (109)

Review: On Nov. **, 2014, I received a letter from Retrieval-Masters Creditors Bureau, Inc., advising me that they had been contracted by [redacted] to collect an overdue subscription payment. On Nov. **, 2014, at [redacted]) I called the toll-free number contained in their letter. A computer-generated message answered my call and instructed me to wait while I was connected with a representative. After waiting seven minutes and experiencing pure silence, I terminated the call at [redacted].

I then called [redacted] regarding the situation and was advised that they had shipped me a book in March 2014 for which I had not paid. I advised them that I never received the book. The [redacted] representative told me that the disputed "contract" was now canceled and that they would contact RMCB to cease further contact with me on their behalf.Desired Settlement: Ensure that my credit report and rating are not affected by this action by RMCB, by providing me written confirmation to that effect.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.However, one of the issues in my complaint was the lack of telephonic response by the business's toll-free customer service department. A customer should not be expected to merely pay the amount demanded by this business in their written correspondence. The business provided a telephone number at which to contact them regarding the matter and should actively engage customers via that medium.Thank you for your assistance in this matter.

Sincerely,

Review: I was contacted by an employee of [redacted] and he set up a payment arrangement with me. I was told that if I made 2 monthly payments of $50 each the remaining balance of my bill would be removed and I wouldn't owe anything else.

I made my payments as requested but then I received a bill for the remaining balance.

When I contacted the company I was told that the employee would have had no right to make such an arrangement. When I asked to speak with a [redacted] I was put off and then told that there was not one available and that I would have to contact them later.

I believe that this constitutes fraud.

The employee misrepresented himself to me in order to obtain money.Desired Settlement: I want the terms of my payment agreement kept and if this employee really did not have the right to make such a deal then I want to see him fired.

Business

Response:

Dear [redacted], please be advised of the following as it pertains to your complaint. On 3/** a review of your call was conducted and are findings were that you were indeed offered a settlement on the account made payable in two installments. One received on 1/**/2015 the other on 2/**/2015. The representative who offered the settlement did so within his job parameters however failed to properly code the account as settled which left a balance open on your account. We have reduced your account balance to zero owed and sent you a settled in full letter. We also removed any negative marks reported to any credit bureaus as a result of our collection efforts on this account. Please accept our sincere apology for any inconvenience caused. Both representatives have received addition training in the area of there errors. We trust that these actions address your concerns. Please let us know if we may be of further assistance. Best regards.

Review: A medical bill of mine (which I didn't even know I had) was sent to this company for collections. My PIN number being [redacted] and the name being under [redacted] for the amount due of 161.50. I have tried to call this company multiple times and cannot get ahold of them. I am not sure if they are a scam or what is going on but I need to get this taken care of and removed from my credit record if it is in fact valid.Desired Settlement: For either the company to substantiate the billing and call me or for them to remove this balance, stop sending me bills, and not make this ding out credit score.

Review: I have disputing the amount of this bill for years and have not received a satisfactory explanation of the charges yet. Furthermore when American Medical first received this account, I received an excessive amount of phone calls where they did not leave messages and used up my cell phone minutes and was harassing. In addition, when I called to get their fax number to fax my complaint to AMCA on October [redacted], 2013, the young lady who answered the phone gave me the incorrect fax# ###-###-####, which I read back to her; when I went to fax my complaint to AMCA I received the error message and tried to call back AMCA was closed for the day.Desired Settlement: I am happy to pay a portion of this bill and am willing to pay $70.00 as settlement in full without having it reported to the credit bureau just to resolve it and so that I never have to speak to anyone at AMCA again. My email address is [redacted].

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

[Your Answer Here]

I did send a letter to the previous collection agency disputing this debt which they were supposed to communicate to the provider, date unknown. It is not true that I was offered 'several' pay agreements, I was offered payment in full or the settlement referenced in their response.

In order for the Revdex.com to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.

Review: RMCB is trying to collect on an illegal debt by [redacted]. It is illegal to bill for something a company sent without my authorizing the purchase. This is a common tactic with [redacted], yet they are still allowed to do it without recourse. RMCB is in bed with them and they know they are doing wrong by trying to collect these false debts.Desired Settlement: Any and all information about this illegal and false matter removed. $200 reimbursed to me for my time in sorting out this illegal act.

Review: I am being harassed by a collection company to fraudulently attempt to collect a debt that I do not owe. I was sent a letter from Retrieval Masters Creditors Bureau (RMCB) Inc., for a traffic citation that was supposedly charged to me in a Thrifty Car Rental on ** January 2014 for $42.74. However, I never rented a car on that date, or anywhere near that date. This is a scam to collect money and it needs to be noted as such. I would like this to be resolved at once.Desired Settlement: I would like the following to be done:- that RMCB remove any note of this from my credit report.- that RMCB provide a formal apology and correction of the charge relieving me of all responsibility for this charge, in writing to personally to me.[redacted]

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter has been resolved.

Sincerely,

Review: REPEATED voicemails left. Transcript is below. In a deep, gruff voice:

"This call is from the firm of RMCG in reference to a legal complaint for fraud. It would behoove you call us within 24 hours to prevent any adverse legal action pursuant to federal law 95-109. Please hit the 9 key to speak to an asset investigator now, or dial us back at ###-###-####... IMMEDIATELY to avoid probable civil and or criminal charges."

Except that pressing 9 doesn't get any response...Desired Settlement: Without being able to speak to anyone when they call, I am unable to establish that this is a valid debt. My guess is, it is probably a debt well past the statue of limitations that RMCG has bought for pennies on the dollar, and they are now using scare tactics to try and secure payment.

If they are unable to mail me physical proof of the validity of the debt, I respectfully request that they stop calling and leaving harassing and, quite frankly, DECEPTIVE voicemails.

Business

Response:

Dear [redacted]

Review: My healthcare provider has a contract with [redacted] and this provider is contracted to except payment in full for the contracted amount but they continue to bill me but the bills are not itemized and when I send them the EOB to prove it is paid in full they send me to collections and the collection agency just wants payment. I send them the same information in the dispute but I am told that I need to contact [redacted]. This sound to me like a scam and run the consumer around to we just give up and pay. I want this removed from my credit report as they have never proven that I actually owe this amount.Desired Settlement: Remove this debit from my credit report as I do not owe this to them, this was paid in full for the contracted amount.

Business

Response:

Dear [redacted],We have thoroughly searched our records, and we could not locate an existing account with our agency for an account in the amount of $180.00. We did however have an account ending with [redacted] that was reported to the credit bureaus in the amount of $247.20 owed to our client Laboratory Corporation of America. This account was closed from our agency on 2/**/2015. Our agency has sent a direct request to the credit bureaus to have our trade line updated on your account. We truly do apologize for any inconvenience this matter may have caused you. If you have any further concerns and or questions please do not hesitate to contact us.

Review: I received a letter for an unknown phone number stating it was a wireless number I had with [redacted] and was in collections. I discussed it with my husband and neither he nor I have ever had this phone number in use. I called 3 times and finally got a supervisor and all 3 times I was denied any information about my account. I was told they will not give me any details as to the [redacted] records for this account and if I choose not to pay it then so be it. I am willing to make things right if I do, in fact, owe this balance. I believe I have every right to see detailed billing showing me proof that this was taken out by me. Perhaps they used it as a temporary number while a port was in process, perhaps it was a complete mistake altogether, in which case I will not pay it. I want to see detailed records from [redacted] wireless showing the contract with my signature including the call records to see if it was actually used by me and if calls were made or received to or from any numbers I know. I will not just pay something if I have no idea what it is for. There are way too many scams out there. I called the number listed on this letter they sent me and it says it's not an active number. That makes me very apprehensive as well since they have a faslse number on their letters as the only way of contacting them and they refuse to give any information other than a letter with a phone number and a bill and demand payment. I will not pay this bill unless I receive written records from [redacted] along with the contract with my signature on it to be sure this is legit. I find it very hard to believe that it is proper collection practice to not allow the consumer any information at all about what they are paying. I appreciate your investigation of this matter/company. They have very poor business practices. Not only are they completely unprofessional and rude, but I have to question the legality of their practices as well.Desired Settlement: The desired outcome would be for me to receive detailed records from [redacted] with a copy of the contract with signature to see if I, in fact, signed a contract on this number and to receive the detailed call records showing account activity in order to prove this was used by my husband or I as we have never taken out a phone for anyone else.

Business

Review: I sent a letter to this collection agency(RMCB),on april [redacted] 2014 requesting information about an account(money),money they say I owe, explain and provide me with copies of any papers that show I agreed to pay what they say I owe...This is an account that they bought from other agency and this happened in the past before..no collection agency was able to prove this is an valid debt and money they say I owe.I asked rmcb to prove the statue of limitations has not expired on this account and money they say I owe.I asked to shoe me that they are licensed to collect in my state of atlanta, georgia.I also asked to identify the original creditor.Desired Settlement: I request that RMCB to remove the debt from my credit report,in the event that I did not receive a response to the original request or receive a printout of the debt and the amount they say I owe and also clear my name from rmcb records or sell this fake account to another collection agency. I am also requesting rmcb to send me verification when my account is been clear.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter has been resolved.

Sincerely,

Review: I was contacted by Retrieval Masters Creditors Bureau, Inc. on Saturday, October [redacted]. in a in a letter dated October [redacted] alleging that I owe $299.95 and the account number that they have assigned me is [redacted]. I replied to them via First Class mail until Tuesday, October [redacted]. due to the holiday disputing this debt and requesting proof of their allegations against me. However, it has been almost two months, since I replied and I have not received any communication from them as of today. I am now concerned that they will report derogatory information on my credit file and thus the reason, why I am contacting you.Desired Settlement: I need confirmation from Retrieval Masters Creditors Bureau, Inc. that they are closing this account and not reporting this debt to any credit bureau, because it is not mine. Should they believe otherwise, then I would expect that they posses some kind of documented proof of their allegations against me, which I am entitled to obtain and review.

Consumer

Response:

Hello,

Review: I had an outstanding bill from [redacted], account #[redacted], that was place into RMCB for collections. I contacted their representative and was told they would update my account as soon as payment was received. I sent them a money order for $300, [redacted] Money Order #[redacted], on February **, 2015. I called them and has been given the run around. It's been almost 3 months now and the bill still shows a balance.Desired Settlement: Please contact the 3 credit bureaus, update the account as paid and taken off my credit report.

Business

Response:

Dear [redacted], After carefully reviewing your account we have concluded the following: 1. A payment was received from you back in February 2015 in the amount of $300.00.2. At the time the payment was received, your account had been recalled by our client [redacted], and was no longer an account of ours. 3. When an account, like yours, is client recalled and is no longer an account of ours, we are unable to cash your money order; and instead, we forward such payment to our client for processing. 4. Which we did just that, forwarded your money order in the amount of $300 on to our client, [redacted]. 5. Upon receiving your complaint, we contacted our client [redacted] and inquired about the payment, which they have informed us that the payment in the amount of $300 was posted to your account on 3/**/2015. 6. Because we are a third party agency, we do not report to the credit bureaus for all of our clients, one of our clients that we do not report for is [redacted]. 7. [redacted] reports their own consumers to the credit bureaus, and they report the consumers before we receive the accounts. It is our understanding that our client, [redacted], does not remove accounts from the credit bureaus upon payment, rather they update the consumer’s credit to a paid status. We have notified our client of your credit concerns. Please let us know if we may be of further assistance.

Review: This company claims that I owe them $1629.90 for toll evasions with Ezpass. I already received letters from Ezpass because my credit card expired. I contacted Ezpass and gave them my new credit card info and they deducted the amounts of the tolls on my credit card. This was done in 2013. I just received a letter from Retrieval Masters Credit Bureau demanding $1629.90 for tolls when I already paid them to Ezpass NJ. I tried contact this company & both phone numbers are disconnected. I mailed a letter to the company and I have gotten no response. I have contacted Ezpass NJ and they said they have no problems with my account and I am in a good standing account.Desired Settlement: I don't want this matter to go to collections when there isn't any balance due on this account. Review: I had the wrong address on file. Only months later did I begin getting harassment phone calls. The phone calls were harassment in nature. I never received a bill and they were talking heatedly at me. One day I finally listened to their abuse to ask them what they are talking about because I never received a bill. They had had the wrong address. Even after correcting it I never received a bill in the mail. I asked if there was a way to pay online, I was told no. I was finally recontacted and was told there actually was a way to pay online, since I have yet to receive a bill!Desired Settlement: I would like my credit score fixed, had I received a bill in the mail I would have gladly paid it timely, even before it went to collections. In addition, I felt the phone calls were very unprofessional and that is why I thought I was being scammed and treated unwell, and how can I be at fault when I received NO BILL?? I would also appreciate a small compensation for that.

Hi,

Please let me know if I have completed this form correctly. In addition, I see that the business name against who I am filing a complaint is different than the one the employees use as their business name over the phone. I understand it is also illegal to use a different business name.

Thank You,

Response:

Dear [redacted], your account was not placed on your credit report By our company. Pinnacle Credit [redacted]s Inc, Placed your account with a national reporting agency. This possibility was stated on the initial collection letter sent. It is our clients policy update the status of accounts placed with reporting agencies not to remove them. Your account status will be updated to paid in full by our client.

You payment was received on 4/**/2014 in the amount of $172.25 if you provide proof of ie. copy of your bank statement, front & back of cashed check etc. we would be happy to review and refund if necessary.

You claim of being "cursed out" is being looked into, to date we have not been able to locate such a call, perhaps you called in from a phone number different than the one we have on file for your account if this is the case please provide the phone number from which you dialed and we will investigate. The one call we did find ended with you calling the representative a very abusive/unflattering name.

Please let us know if we may be of further assistance.

Best regards
