I opened an account with this company in October of 2017 with hopes to improve my credit and save money. My mother got really sick and I had to take full responsibility in taking care of her in April of this year. This put a major strain on things as I was already stressed out trying to keep up with school, work and my family. I miss one payment and the company reports late payment to the bureaus then when I submit a goodwill letter to them stating what was going on in my life and requesting that they remove the late payment notation from my credit report, they tell me they only honor good will letters in the event of a natural disaster but it's not in the contract, nor is it in their policy. It's an internal, ever changing thing. I even told them I would pay the balance due then the following week pay what the remaining account balance was. They still wouldn't honor it. What an immoral company? I'll never use them again.

We have verified that a payment was submitted 30+ past the set due date. Self Lender takes pride in remaining compliant and ensuring accurate reporting for each customer. We have reviewed the goodwill request submitted by the customer and unfortunately, self lender is unable to honor the request at the time in an effort to retain accurate reporting.

Self Lender is reporting a fraudulent account on my credit report. I have no knowledge of this account. I've attempted to dispute it multiple times and they insist it's correct.

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because:

I have still yet to be contacted by the business. I have disputed this fraudulent account with each of the credit bureaus and SelfLender fraudulently confirms it.

I demand this account be removed.

Regards

I had an account with Self Lender. My account was completed and paid off on May 9th; however, I have contacted customer service numerous times to inquire why a check has not been sent to me yet. I am owed $1,100. They state that I will receive the check in approximately 10 days, and say that the check is mailed upon account closure and I will receive an e-mail. I keep stating that my account is closed and that I would like to know what is holding up the check from being mailed and they will not respond. I am concerned that this is some sort of scam and I will not receive the money I am owed.

Self Lender takes pride in servicing our customers with efficient and timely refund processes. Self Lender discloses to all customers that the refund process will take 10-14 business days after the customer’s final payment as the account and final payoff fully processes. This information can be found on the Self Lender website and is also disclosed in several email notifications. The refund for this customer was issued within this timeframe. We have reached out to this customer to further clarify and discuss this matter.

Do not do business with this company! You will regret it! There are complaints on here for a reason! I should have been smarter myself. I signed up on December 11th and still have yet to see anything on my credit report. Everytime time I call they say everything is fine, give it a week. They sent me an email in February of 2018 saying this would be on my credit report by the end of that month. It wasn't! Called numerous times and they keep reading the same script but refuse to help. I spoke with *** today and she tried to read the same script again. I called her out on the fact it has been 4 months, and something is wrong. She suggested I call the credit bureaus and bank they work with to check on what's going on, and make sure everything is okay and my info is accurate. I explained I enrolled with them, why would they not call the bank and credit agencies and verify everything is good. That is what they say they do. They don't say sign up with us, make $50 payments, and then call the credit bureaus and banks yourself to make sure you get the service we are selling! I explained I signed their contract, make my payments through them on their website because they have a supposed relationship with the bank, but now they want me to do the follow up and make sure they didn't make a mistake??? She finally advised that they have a major tech problem that they are aware of and this has been happening to others. Why give me the run around for a month if you knew the whole time there is a tech problem. The whole time making me wait, and get more and more frustrated. All I asked for is them to look into my account, and reach out to the bank THEY WORK WITH to fix the issue and she would not. Crazy!!! They won't even do a simple follow up call. I've now made 4 payments of $50, nothing on my credit, and they won't even follow up with the people they work with to get everything fixed. The company as a whole could care less if you make a Revdex.com complaint. I advised her this is a simple fix, but if she doesn't help I was going to get off the phone and make a complaint. She still wouldn't rectify my situation. I asked if there was a manager or someone I could speak with and she said she would have someone call me back. But explained they would tell me to reach out to the banks too. I advised her numerous times that I'm recording the call, and all the times she contradicted herself! She wouldn't even give me her last name. She said for security pursposes. Is that not weird? It's not like they are a collection agency. They are a regular business that is supposed to help you. Why would you not give your name out to clients you are helping? I'm a very patient and rational person, but enough is enough. My advice to others, stick with SECURED CREDIT CARDS!!!! This self lender idea sounds great, but the actual process is highly flawed!

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because: This is not accurate. I'm very disappointed that they gave a standard rebutal. They obviously don't take the complaints seriously. This doesn't explain what happened at all, and the way they report has nothing to do with anything. I was contacted by *** (a *** at self lender) and he apologized. He admitted that they handeled everything wrong, and also admitted they have been having a major problem working with the Bank and the Credit Reporting agencies, and that nothing was being reported. He mentioned it has been going on for a while, and they are working to get it resolved. I addressed my frustration that they don't just tell people that, and instead try and give you the same generic rebutal about how they report, and that it takes 30 to 60 days, etc etc. He said he doesn't know when the reporting will be fixed, but said it may take up to 30 days. It still isn't showing up on all 3 credit reports, and to this point nothing was resolved except for the *** calling me and saying it is 100% their fault. But then they respond to the Revdex.com with a generic reply saying the same thing (that they clearly copy and paste for every complaint, just look at other complaints and view the business response.) instead of admiting they were wrong, they have an IN HOUSE PROBLEM, and it has nothing to do with the reporting. The Revdex.com should hold this company accountable as they don't seem to want to address the issue, and just admit that yes they are having problems. They simply copy and paste the same reply to every complaint they get, say they resolved the issue when they didn't, and somehow keep their A rating??? I have the whole call recorded and can supply it to you upon request! Nothing was resolved, and I want the company to ADMIT on the Revdex.com that they have an in house problem, and that is why it is not reporting. Please spare me the standard copy and paste rebutal!

Regards

I paid my account off on 3/15/2018 and I am being told that it would take 10 to 14 days before I get my funds back on the account. This excessive time frame was never disclosed. When closing an account out at a bank it does not take 10 to 14 days. Typically a bank will give you your funds the same day the account is closed. I called an asked for an explanation of the 10 to 14 days and no good explanation was given. According the to the person I got on the phone the bank has some sort of things they need to check on the account which does not make any sense. Rep could not explain any thing further.

I signed up for services in November 2017 with Self Lender to save and build my credit. Upon me making monthly payments, I was advised that Self Lender would report to all 3 Credit Bureaus. As of today, they have only reported to 1 Credit Bureau; Experian. I contacted Self Lender several times about this issue and they advised me that they did there due diligence and I would need to reach out myself to the other credit bureaus; Equifax and Transuinon and ask them to report. According to Equifax and Transunion they don't have any reporting request from Self Lender or CNB. Please help!

I have an active account with Self Lender since December 2017. Payments made on time and early every month. Was told that it would be reporting by end of Jan. It is almost end of March, yet nothing has been reported. Customer service was no help and I continue to get emails about making my payment but info in regards to when I should see this report

Self Lender has verified that this matter has been resolved and contacted the customer to confirm. The customer confirmed and is satisfied with the resolution.

Did exactly what it was suppose to do!!!!!!!!

Signed up Oct 2017. They started reporting to the bureau in December 2017. My credit score went up about 35 points. I was excited and was looking forward to the progress. Unfortunately, January 2018 was when they stopped reporting my timely payments. It is now March 2018 and they still havent reported my previous payments.

This is a truly wonderful credit increasing system. People with Bad or No credit is the system to use. It will increase your credit. It has done wonders for me, unsung my credit by 37 points the very first monthly cycle.

Had a great experience using Self Lender. My credit score increased 30 points each month. The website is user friendly and I especially liked the fact that if I wanted to opt out of auto payments, I could. Their customer service was spectacular. I received an email notification of when payment was due, and if I missed the due date, another email notification was sent giving me an extra 15 days to submit a payment. Anytime I had a question, customer service responded to my emails in a timely manner and was always helpful. I definitely would recommend Self Lender to my friends and family.

They delayed my payout by more than a month and lied to me the whole time. I had to follow up numerous times to get my own money from them, and when they finally sent my check, they did nothing whatsoever to try to make it right, not even an apology. All I got was a condescending reply, and my own money 6 weeks too late for the bill I saved it for. The whole purpose of this is to save up some of your own money, and possibly give your credit score a boost. It fails miserably on both counts. It is pointless at best, if not an outright scam.

I signed up this this company on the 15th of December 2017. The entire point of my signing up for this is to build credit. However it has been more than 60 days and is the last day of February now with nothing showing on my credit report. Not December, Not January and not February. I understand it is still the last day of February so there Could potentially be the ""chance" it updates today however based upon what everyone has written in reviews about this same type of situation I highly doubt it will be there by tomorrow. I called them earlier last week about my account not reporting and they said they started reporting in January, and that it is most likely that the credit bureaus haven't updated their information. Well I do have quite a bit of knowledge about credit given the fact that I have messed mine up twice and am now very focused on building positive credit with 100 percent payment history and I know that that was a blatant lie. My credit card I opened the same day in December started reporting on the 27th Of December 2017. So why does self lender advertise building credit if they are not going to report it for thee months and then start reporting if and when they ever feel like it, then close your secured cd at the end of the one year period once the payments have all been made?

Really annoyed with this because I am now stuck with this extra payment every month that is not getting me anything, not even all of my money back as the amount I have paid is way more than my balance shows and at this point its just costing me alot to get nothing.

I made my payment to self lender right at the 30 day mark but it was to my wife account instead of mines so when I realized it a few days later that it was to my wife account and not mines I made another payment to my account which was over the 30 days but I thought I would be ok because I’m the email the send you when you 30 days late says that as long as you pay with in the week you would be still reporting paying on time. So I’m thinking that mines 7 days after your 30 days but however when I spoke with a representative she explain it doesn’t give you 7 more days it’s only gives you until that Sunday of that week that the email is sent out. I think that they need to make that a lot more clear. I I was in the process of getting g a house for my wife and 4 kids but that’s has cost me 64 points on my credit and now I may not be able to close on a home for my family. I have pleaded with self lender to please change the late payment because this the future for my family. They say it’s nothing they can do o well make your payments on time in a cold hearted way. I ask for a supervisor they said they would send a email out for one to call me back and they never did so I called back a few days later ask for a supervisor and the guy said he was one but I don’t really believe he was still no help. Then I ask for the ceo of the company and he said he don’t accept phone calls or emails. I’m just asking that self lender please please reverse this late payment because this was truly a misunderstanding so that I can give my family the home they deserve. The date I made my wife payment was Jan 28th which was suppose to
my account.

My Self Lender Account was closed due to none payment. However, I was due a refund of $***. On Jan 22, 2018 a check was mailed to the address on file. However, I never recieved the refund from Self Lender. I had put in a change of address on 1/23/2018 to my PO BOX.

I was very clear the refund checm should be mailed to my PO BOX #.

This customer’s payout was mailed on 1/22/18 to the mailing address that the customer listed on file. On 2/6/18, the customer contacted Self Lender and related that they recently had an address change. The customer requested to have another check sent to their P.O. Box. Self Lender verified the P.O. box address with the customer and another check was sent to the P.O. Box. On 2/17/18, the customer stated they did not receive the second check. Self Lender is discussing alternative electronic payout options with the customer and is waiting for a response from the customer.

Customer Response • Mar 12, 2018

I am rejecting this response because: This is correct however why is it taking so long to receive my pay out. It is now March 2018 still NO check. I have tried to set up *** to NO Avail. I don't have Pay Pal even though they mailed a check on 1/22/2018. I did put in a change of address form. Still NO check another check mailed out. Still NO Check I have never been through so much back/forth to recieve a refund that is due to me.

Self Financial Response • Mar 15, 2018

Self Lender is providing multiple options to this customer to receive their payout. This customer rejected electronic payout options and asked for another check to be sent to their requested address. Self Lender has contacted the customer multiple times to ensure the customer received their check. We have not received a response.

This is my second time filing a complaint regarding the same situation. Please see prior complaint # *** On or around 1/2018 my Self Lender Account was closed. I was due a refund in the amount of $226.56. From 1/2018 until 3/2018 I went back and forth with Self Lender. I also filed a complaint with Revdex.com regarding NOT getting my refund in a timely matter. I spoke with ***. a number of times trying to come up with a better way to get my refund which was rightfully due to me. I finally just asked her to send a check to my PO BOX. I was tired of going back and forth !!!! I recieved the check finally 3/2018 !!!!! Once I recieved my check I never responded back to Self Lender. I had NO reason to respond back or answer anymore calls from Self Lender. I only wanted my refund which I did get March 2018. Only to cash the check which was rightfully due to me. Later I find out the check was NO good. Self Lender has put a stop payment on the check. Even though I did put in a change of address. Even after filing the complaint with Revdex.com, Speaking with ***. , emailing a million times this has happened, plus alot of phone calls. I'm NOW facing jail time and check charges. For a situation that was totally out of my hands. I need to get this situation cleared up. I can NOT go to jail over this. I don't think Self Lender ever sent my check out to me back in Jan 2018. Once I filed the Revdex.com Complaint they want to act as if their so eager to get me my refund. Which I shouldn't have had to go through all of this. Once my Self Lender Account was closed Self Lender should have sent me a valid check within a timely manner. 2 months later I get my refund plus a bad check this is a mess !!!! Even if the check got lost in the mail which it didn't. It still doesn't take 2 months to get the check to me. Now this is happening to me. April 1, 2018: I again emailed Self Lender explaining and attaching a copy of the check which has stop payment on it. April 2, 2018: I tried to call Self Lender only to be hung up on As of April 2, 2018 10:18am I haven't recieved a email back from Self Lender, a phone call or nothing else.

Customer Response • Apr 09, 2018

Remedy: Help me with clearing this situation up. A letter head from Self Lender to give to the Courts explaining that should have been a valid check that was sent to me. I don't want to speak to anyone from Self Lender all responding can go through Revdex.com. Call the Business where I cashed the check at letting them know the check should have been valid I did nothing wrong

Self Lender takes pride in ensuring a timely and efficient payout process. On 3/14/18, Self Lender contacted the customer to advise the customer to contact us regarding her payout check. Self Lender did not receive a response until 4/2/18. The customer opted for an electronic payout on the same day. This matter has been resolved and the customer is satisfied with the resolution.

As of today 2/16, I have asked self lenders to count my 3 payments in December 2017 for January and February. I made 3 payments because I lost my job December 1st. I called the company and spoke with customer service rep about why the payments were not reflecting on my account as paid for the month of January and December. The customer service rep stated that the payments will go on the back end of my loan. I explain to the customer rep on why I needed those payments to be applied and my logic on making the payments separately. To make a long story short I received this email stating Your Loan Payment is 30 Days Past Due
Hi Tasha,
Your credit builder account payment is now 30 days past due and will be reported to the credit bureaus as a late payment on your credit report. Please, log into your Self Lender account to make your payment. I called and spoke with another customer rep and she explained the reason the company does it that way because payment history is 35% if consumers are building credit. I informed the customer rep that I’m trying to build my credit not tear it down. I made three payments to cover my months. I don’t like how the program is set up. I’m trying to be responsible by paying in advance because I knew that after I lost my job money would be limited. My goal was to pay all my bills in advance until I was able to secure another job. I even asked for the CEO email because I was outraged on the company policy. The customer rep stated I could contact [email protected] and they would forward information to the CEO. I have never heard such BS from a company. I don’t recommend this company at all. There policy need to change to reflect the change economy. People lose their jobs in life. We need companies to help people when they are down not make life harder for honest working individuals.

I’ve had a hard life. Childhood was traumatic, I messed up a lot in my 20’s and was left homeless 1,500 miles away from home at 30. I have RA and asthma and it put me in and out of the hospital and the bills kept coming so fast I gave up and ignored my credit. I felt ashamed and I could apply for any sort of credit or loans to get my credit back up. At almost 37 I’m now recently married with 4 step-children and have a stable job. I wanted to face everything I’d messed up financially so I went looking around and found Self-Lender. I pay $50 a month on time every month and at the end of my 12 month payments, I’ll pay off more debt. Thanks to self-lender’s credit reporting, I finally got my credit score up high enough to get a legit unsecured cash back credit card through Capital One, which help my credit even more. For the first time I felt like I finally had a grip on my financial life. It’s a small credit limit, but I’m determined to only pay monthly bills with it and pay it on time for years to come and have my credit grow even more. I have Self-Lender to thank for this first chance. It means more than any could know. If you pay when you’re supposed to pay on time, there should never be any criticism about this business. Yes, there is interest and not everything you pay out you’ll get back, but that’s the way of the working world. I’m payinh Self-Lender to help me....and they have. Tremendously.

I contacted this unscrupulous, fraudulent company and requested that my account be closed. Instead of closing my account, this unscrupulous company took 20 dollars from my bank account

Self Lender takes pride in ensuring an easy and efficient payment, cancelation and refund process. This customer completed a $20 ACH payment on 2/9/18 and received an email notification of the successful payment at the time the payment was completed. On 2/10/18, the customer emailed a request to have their account canceled. The account was canceled on the next business day. Since the $20 payment was completed successfully on 2/9/18 and the request to close account was made on 2/10/18, the $20 payment could not be stopped and will be included in the refund issued to this customer. A refund has been initiated and will be sent to the customer within 10-14 business days of account cancelation.
