I requested to close my account with this company on 12/18/2017 and for them to refund the money in my account. I received an email from them stating the file was closed. I then received a 2nd email on 01/02/2018 advising me that my refund check was mailed. I never received it and every time I called I was put off and told to wait longer. Finally on 01/24/2018 I was told they were mailing out a duplicate check that day however I still have not received that check. It is ridiculous that someone would have to go through all of this to get a refund on funds they paid into an account. I initially requested to close the account due to a hardship and not receiving the funds after being told it was in the mail has made things much worse. Up until these issue I thought this was a reputable business and even referred other customers.

Self Lender takes pride in ensuring a timely and efficient refund process. This customer was sent their refund on 1/2/18. On 1/19/18- the customer notified Self Lender that they still had not received their check. Self Lender researched the refund check and confirmed it was sent to the correct address. After completing research, another check was sent to the same preferred address. On 1/26/18, we received a check back with the message “address undeliverable.” After discussing this matter with the customer, the customer noted that they appeared to be having difficulties receiving their mail. The customer opted to receive their refund by electronic payment. This customer confirmed they received the refund and this matter is resolved.

My card number was stolen and used to pay for charges to this company. We have tried repeatedly on several occasions to contact and resolve the issue and have spoke with, left name, phone number, and a summary of what happened and can not reach anyone within this company that will return a call or assist me in this matter. This has been going on since January 12. There were 2 charges, one for $100.21, and another for $309.99, for a grand total of $410.99

Self Lender takes pride in quickly researching and investigating unrecognized charges. The first communication Self Lender received from this individual and their financial institution was on January 26th, 2018. Self Lender worked with their financial institution to research such charges and this matter was resolved on the same business day.

I signed up with self lender a few weeks ago. My first payment is due on January 27th. I went in today to update my payment method to a new checking account because the old one I had used a few weeks ago was no longer good. The company sent me a new card and new bank account info. Well, the website will not let me update my lingo. I contacted customer service via chat and via phone and no one was of any help. I refuse to use my debit card to make my monthly payment because they tack on fees and that is why I wanted to add my new checking account. I have tried from my phone and from my computer. It will not push it through! I am starting to think this company is a scam!

At Self-Lender, we strive to service every customer to best of our abilities. In this current situation, the customer set up with an original checking account an attempted to set up with another account. After careful research, we cam to the conclusion that the information that the customer imputed was no valid. We contacted the customer and provided her the option of using another checking account or closing out her self-lender account. The customer opted to have her account closed and we are issuing a full refund back to the customer.

This is my second year with Self Lender. I have referred about six people. Yes my score dropped when the account closed, but that’s normal right? My score skyrocketed once the account hit my credit report which took about 60 days. Their customer service is great! No complaints from me. Last year I signed up for the $48.50 plan, this year I’m going for the $97!

I started with Self Lender a year ago. The purpose was to have it reflect positively on my credit. It was set up as if I was paying on time on a loan. The point of it was to be as a savings account or CD account. I chose to have it as a savings account, and to receive a refund at the end of the payment term in the amount of $550.00. They started drafting $48.50 out of my account every month by the 5th. To get things started, I paid a $12.00 "Administrative Fee." The first payment of $48.50 was drafted from my account on January 5, 2017. December 5, 2017, I paid my last payment, and I was told my check would be processed immediately, and sent out to me. It's always difficult to reach someone. When I would call, the phone would "disconnect." I've actually called several times in a row to reach someone with no luck. I called from a number they didn't have for me, and someone answered immediately. I called several times on another day, and once again, it would "disconnect." I went into their chat and stated, "I've been trying to reach someone. If no one answers, I'm reporting you for fraud." The next call was answered. I was reassured that the check mailed out on 12/14/17. Lou said, "If you don't get it tomorrow, call me back and I'll personally take care of it to see what we can do." I called today, because eight days later, it still has not arrived. Lou, of course, was not available. He was "on another call." I spoke with Cat, who put me on hold, came back after a couple of minutes, apologizing, telling me to call back on the 27th if it hasn't arrived by then. I invested almost $600.00 with this company, and I stressed I needed it for Christmas. They withdrew money from my account ON TIME, EVERY MONTH, and now that they owe it back to me, they're not paying up. Here I am, three days before Christmas without the money I'm owed. BEWARE!!! DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE!!

We sent out the customer's refund check on December 14th . We have spoken to the customer and confirmed that she has received her full refund check. The customer states all issues have been resolved.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and find that this resolution is somewhat satisfactory to me. I received the check, however it was postmarked four days after the check was printed. The post office will postmark mail on the day it's received, worst case, the next day. I still believe they were not truthful regarding when the check was sent out. They belittled my complaint, and my check arrived too late to take care of Christmas needs.

I got the $48.50/month account with this company. Made most of my payments early. I made a single late payment and requested that this payment be removed since most of my other payments were made early.
The support went silent after this request. I only got a response after leaving negative Google and Facebook reviews.
When I finally did get in touch with the manager, Marshall or Malcolm, his accent was extremely hard to understand and he was condescending on top of that. This is shocking from a Texas-based company, especially, because everyone associates the south with southern hospitality and friendliness - especially Texas!
Suffice it to say after 2 weeks of no responses to emails and a couple of days of back and forth over the phone, no progress has been made. The lone late payment has killed my credit scores that I set out to build.
I'd recommend anybody looking to build or rebuild credit just go the old-fashioned route. Get a secured card and pay it down every month. Not all the way off but down to a $5 - $10 balance. That will have a much better impact than programs like SelfLender.

Good morning, I have been trying to get assistance with setting up an account to receive a URL link that would allow me to refer clients to Selflender.com since 11/22/2017. I have called multiple times and I am getting nowhere. I called at 10:11 am, 9:58am, 9:55am on 12/6/17, 2:22pm on 12/5/17, 11:14am, 11:13am, 11:10am, 10:51am, 10:38am, 1:48am, 4:44pm on 12/4/17, 12:29pm, 4:48pm on 12/1/17, 1:12pm on 11/30/17. I have never seen this level of customer service or lack thereof. I cannot get any help and it appears to be a technical issue on the backend that no one can assist me with. I am loosing customers/business as well as selflender.com due to this.

The customer in question originally signed up with Self Lender with the incorrect issues. Due to the customer providing the incorrect social originally it caused complications to get the account set up. A ticket was placed with our engineering team to get this matter resolved. The customer as of 12/15/2017 has been able to log into her account and get to their referral link. If there is additional information that will be required please feel free to let us know.

I had a self lender account to help build my credit. I was always on time. I worked, up until this morning when I saw that my score dropped 143 points because they show the account as closed. This is was not explained to me that this could happen. I need this fixed.

This customer in question opened their account in October 2016. We have accurately reported his payments to the credit bureaus in a timely fashion. Self Lender does not make guarantees to customers that at the completion of their credit builder account their credit score will go up. Credit has many variables that may impact a consumer's credit score ie, other accounts, credit inquiries, unpaid medical expenses, and other loan balances. We have reached out and spoken to the customer to explain the details of his Self Lender Credit Builder Account.

I had an amazing experience with SelfLender! Truly a fantastic startup company. I'm a college student that had no credit at all last year. The secured loan I took out with them helped me establish credit and just a few months in, I was able to obtain my first credit card. Nearly a year later my credit score is now 720. I highly recommend this company to anyone with no/poor credit.

I paid off my account and still have not received my final check, they told me 10-14 days and then I called in after that and was told it would be an additional 7 days why wasn't I told this when I paid my account out and I asked several times>

I am a customer and I signed up to their credit building program which helps people save their money and also build their credit at the same time. Well I signed up to this program about two to three months ago which I paid on time with no problems automatic withdrawals from my account but I have not been able to receive none of the benefits of which I'm paying for. They are not on my credit report they are not reporting to my credit report and I am paying them for them to do that so I can stablish better credit which I'm not receiving from this company so basically they're benefiting from my money and I'm not benefiting from anything from them so basically I'm paying them for nothing. I have also contacted this company about reporting to my credit report which they have not they told me it takes about one cycle which it will post on my credit report will which it had not.

Self Lender takes pride in helping our customers. Currently, Self Lender reports to Experian, Equifax and TransUnion once a month at the beginning of every month. Accounts are also first reported when a customer completes their first monthly payment by there first monthly due date. This customer opened an account on September 2nd, 2017. The customer’s first payment was completed on their first due date of October 2nd. Since Self Lender reports on a monthly basis, this first payment and all other October payments are reported at the beginning of November. Self Lender was able to verify that all information has been reported accurately to the credit bureaus for this customer at this time. Self Lender recognizes the importance of having the most the current information reported to the credit bureaus and is striving to enhance reporting procedures. Self Lender has reached out the customer for further discussion and clarification.

I signed up for an account with self lender to rebuild my credit. They do NOT report timely payments to the credit bureaus. They haven't reported anything since February. My balance is actually significantly less than what's showing on my credit report. There failing to report in a timely manner is hurting my credit. Not helping it...and if I close my account before my contracted 12 months it will hurt my score as well. Self lender doesn't hold up their end of the deal.

I signed up for a year credit builder savings account. After the last payment which was October 7th a check was to mailed out and would take 7-10 days to receive it. I got an email confirmation thanking me for my last payment then another email stating the check was mailed out October 12th. Its October 27th and I have yet to receive a check. I sent an email October 24th to follow up and I got an email asking to verify my email address and another check would be sent. I sent two emails the next day asking if the check was sent. No response. Today I sent a message through the website expressing how upset I am and how this has been a huge inconvenience to me and I got a response stating they would send a check today and please allow 2-3 business days. So I'm thinking the first check was never sent. This is not how you conduct business and I am very upset.

This customer was mailed out a payout on check on October 12th, 2017 to the mailing address that the customer listed on file. On October 25th 2017, the customer contacted Self Lender and notified our customer success department that their check had not been received. After reconfirming this information and correct mailing address, the customer agreed to have a replacement check to be reissued and mailed out to the address provided. We have confirmed that the customer has received the check and deposited it on November 2,2017. This matter has been resolved and all the customer’s issues and concerns have been addressed.

I signed up with self lender and I decided after around 3 months this party was not a good fit for me because they were taking money out of my second check of the month I tried to change the date on the billing cycle and it wouldn’t let me on the site. Finally I have self lender a call and I have spoken to John and I forget the other representative name (she’s a lady) numerous times about just sending me my refund of the money I put in self lender the 1st time they told me the check was lost was lost in the mail. The 2nd time the lady said the check was never sent out. The 3rd time they said it was send out but they took it back to take out some more money because of a transaction they said did not go through but I have a billing statement that shows it did. So they were supposed to recalculate $176 down to $64 ?? The payment were $100 plus a fee mind you. And now I still have not yet even received a check for the $64 self lender said they would send me .

I paid off my credit builder loan in full on September 15th, 2017 and every payment has cleared my bank account. The companies website reflects that my loan is complete and they have indicated that my CD collateral account is closed yet they owe me $550.42 which is the balance in the CD account. They refuses to release the check saying they have placed a 7 day hold on the account even though I paid the loan in full, I was never late on my payments and I have not been involved in any fraudulent activities. I want my money returned to me immediately. I'm in Fort Worth Texas and they are in Austin Texas so there is no reason why I should have to wait on my check to be released and mailed as again I have been a perfect customer and have had a perfectly paid off account. Thanks.

Self Lender has so far performed as advertised. I have paid early every month and payment has always posted promptly. They report to all 3 CRAs about 60 days after you open account. They have always reported account status monthly after the first 60 days. Great customer service. No complaints here.

I've had a great experience! I opened my account back on Oct. 2016 and I'm almost done with it! My credit has gone up 75 points and I'm super impressed with how quickly customer service gets back to me with answers to my questions!

I plan on opening one up again in October for another year!

I have paid odd my loan with Self Lender.The money has been debited from my bank and yet I cannot seem to get my check for my paid off loan from Self Lender.
