Student Loan Aid Reviews (238)

Review: I have been paying studentloanaid.us 149.30 every month since 8/14/14 without any issues that I knew of until recently. Along with a 1 time fee of approx. 199 on 7/07/14. Recently I went online to try and retrieve my form regarding interest paid on my loans for my tax returns. After spending hours trying to get into (the loan holder) I was finally able to get in by resetting my username and password while using there company zip code. They had changed all of my information to their addresses and phone numbers. I have not had 1 posed payment toward my loans since the date they took it over. There are negative transactions against my loans resulting in a higher balance then when I had them consolidate them. Just more recently they have taken out more than the previously agreed upon amount. They are incredibly hard to get a hold of. I have left voicemails, countless emails, and very rarely do I get a response but I never get an explanation. Nor did I have access to view payments (as they said I would) or make additional payments to my loans. They have done nothing to my account and can only imagine how many late notices they have sent to this company instead of me because all of my contact information was listed as theirs. mDesired Settlement: I would like to immediately cancel my service/ agreement with student loan aid and be reimbursed for payments I have made towards my student loans that have never been applied to said loans. I would like to be contacted by email only, as I work business hours, to resolve these matters and would like it to be taken care of in a timely matter. I would like you to no longer have access to my loans and accounts. Total paid by me is 1,187.17 since 7/7/15 amout paid to my loans -197.00.

Review: I have contacted Student Loan Aid three times asking them to cancel my account with them and to not take any monthly payments out of my account. They have not returned calls or emails. I do not trust this company to make my student loan payments and the payment amount they said is higher than what I can actually pay going through the trusted Navient site. They will call multiple times a day until you sign up. Then once you sign up you can not get anyone to call you back.Desired Settlement: I Want all my information deleted from their records and cancellation of my account with Student Loan Aid. I do not want any money taken from my account without my permission.

Response:

We have tried multiple times to contact Ms. [redacted] so that we can properly cancel out her account. Client was never billed and her information has been properly disposed of. In the agreement that she signed and agreed to, it states that she would have to call if she wanted to cancel. We have no problem with the client not wanting to move forward and from this point on we will no longer attempt to contact her as requested on her E-mail below.

Review: Around Sept. or Oct. 2014 I was contacted by this company to consolidate my federal student loans to reduce my monthly payment. They lowered my payment, paid off my federal loan with the servicer at the time, and said that I would deal with them from that point forward. A few months ago I noticed that Navient, the servicer of my private loans, had my federal loan information and they started contacting me about the loan being in forbearance. When I spoke with Student Loan Aid, they told me to disregard all communication with Navient because they were the one handling my loan. Every month they would take a draft out of my checking account in the amount of $58.82 and was supposedly using it towards my federal loan. I find out from Navient that when the consolidation was done, it was transferred to them for servicing and not a single payment has been made, it's just been in forbearance. Student Loan Aid never disclosed to me that they were transferring the loan to another servicer and if they had, I would never have agreed to this. I am having enough trouble with Navient because of their practices with private loans - I would never purposely allow anyone to transfer my loan to them. I was making decent payments to MyFedLoan, my prior servicer, and now because of Student Loan Aid, my repayment is set to go up to more than what I was paying before and it's interest only payments! I believe that Student Loan Aid committed fraud in not fully disclosing what was going to happen with the loan and in the fact that they presented themselves as the servicer, sent correspondence as the servicer, and so on. They have used the financial difficulties and emotional stress that I have been thru to take advantage of me and put me in a worse situation than before.Desired Settlement: I want a full refund of all monies paid, which totals to approximately $588.20, and I want them to immediately cease drafting my account since they are using this money for their own purposes, definitely not to help with my federal student loan.

Regards,

Review: I received a call from processing services in feb 2015 stating that they were a student loan service that could assist with helping me have my student loan payments lowered and only pay prinicpal balance, that the interest would be waived at the end of the term. its april 2015 now and I havent heard anything until I went online to the federal student loan website and found my loans have been moved to another company and that company does not have that service to qualify me. They also misrepresented the funds they collected stating that they apply to your account and that has not happened. They put their address and contact info into my promissory note. All of this is fraud to me.Desired Settlement: Delete my information and refund my money. This company needs to be shut down and FTC involvement

Response:

I have already spoken to Mr. [redacted] and his concerns have all be addressed, We also issued him a full refund . [redacted] did send me a confirmation E-mail stating that upon receipt of the refund check he would contact the Revdex.com and let them know that the situation has been resolved.

This organization is a total scam. I have been making payments that are being deducted from my account for months. I was told as long as I made my payments I would be in good standing with the government/IRS ect. I received a letter a months later stating I had defaulted on my loans and the NSLD was reporting that I had not made any payments in almost a year! This is how long I had been paying this organization. They told me I only needed to pay them and they would consolidate all of my loans and I would be in good standing * not in default* I later contacted the Dept of Ed who had no clue as to who this company was and stated it had been almost a year that I hadn't made a payment. I was outraged, I did everything I was told to. Where is my money? I visited the website and there is no where to log in to view your account or close the account. I want my money back and I want the account I have with them closed! I also received a letter for the Dept of Treasury with a notice to seize my tax return! I was able to clear everything up and transfer my loans to a legitimate servicer and consolidate my loans. My loans now show paid of by consolidation. The Dept of Ed and NSLD have confirmed my loans are paid in full and are with a new servicer. I want this account closed now!! They lied to me and provided me with false information!! Please help!

Review: I was contacted by Student Loan Aid in August of 2014. I was told that your company was a part of the Department of Education by [redacted]. I understand that he is no longer with the company. The way he described the program to me, it seemed as though I was paying your company a small portion of my loan payment and that because I work in the public service industry my payments were reduced. I have notes written from my conversation with him in August of 2014. He said that interest will be deferred and the monthly payments I will be making to your company will be put towards the principle balance of my loan. At no point did Mr. [redacted] say that the $50.58 I was paying monthly was for a servicing fee and that none of that amount was going towards my loan. I was told that after 240 monthly payment of $50.58 that my loans would be extinguished. I was also told that the Department of Education required an initial payment of $292 which I paid in August of 2014. I was also told that I would be contacted a year from our initial conversation. I was not contacted, and I actually had to reach out to you to ensure that my contract was renewed. I followed all necessary action to give you my paycheck stubs on time. They were never processed and in December of 2015 I had the federal government send me mail stating that my loans were about to enter default.

This was no brought to my attention until December of 2015, a year and three months after I signed up for this, that my loan amount has not reduced, in fact it is about $2000 greater. I was a week away from defaulting on my loans, but I was assured that these payments were being taken care of. I now understand now that you are a processing company that finds means to utilize public service forgiveness for students loans. I am disappointed that this was not more transparent initially. This has been more than an inconvenience for me. I would like all of my payments back, totaling $1,101.28.Desired Settlement: I would like to receive the full $1,101.28 back from Student Loan Aid for fraud and lack of transparency with me, [redacted], their former client. I can provide this case in greater detail and additional documentation such as invoices, emails, and bank statements that will add to my case.Thank you for your time and consideration in reviewing my case. Please contact me at your earliest convenience.

Response:

I have completed the review of the complaint received. In addressing all clients concerns, I pulled the copy of the Document Preparation & Service Agreement and have disclosed it for your review. It is clearly stated to all clients what our relationship to the Department of Education is -None. It is clearly stated under the Service Agreement Disclosure that Student Loan Aid is not with or affiliated with the Department of Education. SLA has fully performed based on the Service Agreement.

Review: Hello - I enrolled with Student Loan Aid.us and from what I was told it was a student loan forgiveness program. They were to pay off my student loans through [redacted] and I would pay the what was not forgiven through them. I got a call from [redacted] stating that my loans, which were in forbearance, are coming out of forbearance. I was very confused at this since I thought they were being paid by Student Loan Aid. However, they have not been paid at all. They also changed my address and phone number with [redacted] to their company's address and phone number. [redacted] found me on my other phone number by complete chance.I have tried contacting the Student Loan Aid multiple times and have received no response. I have asked them in voice mails and in writing to cancel their services and I have received no response. This is obviously a scam and they are stealing money from me. I want their services stopped and my money refunded so I can actually put it toward my student loans.Desired Settlement: I would like Student Loan Aid services stopped and the money I have paid them refunded since it is not going to pay off my student loans. Below is what I have paid so far:October 9, 2015 - $467.00November 7, 2014 - $196.71December 5, 2014 - $196.71January 5, 2015 - $196.71February 5, 2015 - $196.71March 5, 2015 - $196.71April 6, 2015 - $196.71Total Stolen from me = $2310.97Anything you can do to help me get this resolved is much appreciated.Thank you[redacted]

Review: In August 2014 I signed up online to receive information about government programs designed to help manage student loan debt. I received various calls and finally decided to take advantage of the programs they claimed were available for me when they called me on August 29, 2014. I was transferred to someone to set up my account where they proceeded to ask for personal information. The info they asked for included my social security number, my FAFSA pin number, and my bank account information. This immediately raised red flags for me. I did not want to give them my information and expressed to the person on the phone that I would not give any information or sign until I could see and read the contract. He said they couldn't send the contract until I gave them my information. For some reason that I deeply regret now, I gave them my information and immediately received the contract via email. After reviewing the email I decided that something seemed wrong, so per the cancellation clause in the contract, I had 14 days within signing up to cancel. I immediately called back and asked to cancel, I was transferred to a "compliance manager" "[redacted]". The "compliance manager" was extremely rude and aggressive regarding my desire to cancel and seemed disgusted by the fact that I didn't want to take advantage of the gov't programs that "would only be available while Obama is in office" especially since I owe $[redacted] in student loans. Despite his opinions, I still told him I wanted to cancel and he said that he would email me a cancellation confirmation. I never received an email from him and was not surprised considering his unprofessional demeanor. Fast forward a month, and to my dismay, Student Loan Aid withdrew an initial payment of $357 from my debit account in the form of a check. I have spoken w/ someone to cancel a total of 5 times and finally received an email confirmation of cancellation. two days after the email, I was charged for the 3rd time, totaling $670.Desired Settlement: My desired outcome is that Student Loan Aid/Processing Services LLC at 4931 Birch Street, Newport Beach, CA 92660, (949) 253-4092, refund me fully, release control of my loans to the original loan servicer, dispose of any and all of my personal information, provide proof that the money was being used to pay my loan which they claimed it was, and issue a written apology admitting fault to misuse of my personal information for fraudulent purposes.

Any further action taken by Student Loan Aid/Processing Services LLC in regards to my personal information will result in immediate legal action.

Review: I called the US Dept of Ed to forebear my student loan because I can no longer afford the $47.90 each month with all my other bills. The US Dept of Ed then informed me that my loans were already in forbearance and they had never received a payment from me with respect to these loans. I then called Student Loan Aid, LLC to see where my monthly "student loan payment" (because that's what the withdrawal was noted as on my bank statement) was going. Apparently, I have been paying them $47.90 a month with a down payment of $349 to forebear my loans when I thought that the money withdrew from my account was going towards my balance and my loans were consolidated under the loan forgiveness program. Additionally, Student Loan Aid LLC informed me that I should've received an email for pay stub information and because they didn't submit it, I missed the deadline to begin the PSLF program. When I initially spoke with Student Loan Aid, they told me they were an extension of the US Dept of Ed and they did not notify me that the money I was paying them wasn't going to my student loans. For the last year, I believed the $47.90 I have been struggling to pay was going toward my student loan balance and instead I've been paying Student Loan Aid LLC to forbear my loans.Desired Settlement: I would like a full refund so I can actually use the money to apply to my student loans.

Review: I have emailed as well as left voicemail messages stating that I want to cancel my program with Student Loan Aid as they are collecting money from me each month and it is not going towards paying down my school loans. They have also not taken the amount out of my account as of 1/15/15. This has been an ongoing issue that I thought was rectified however clearly it has not been rectified and I keep trying to contact them to cancel my program with them via phone and email with no response. I am unhappy with their services and want to cancel however that is difficult to do when no one will respond to me.Desired Settlement: I want my account with Student Loan Aid closed and I don't want Student Loan Aid to have any access to my student loans or any information related to the student loans at all. I want to handle them on my own going forward.

Review: I signed up with Student Loan Aid in June of 2014. They told me to make a student loan payment to Sallie Mae in June of 2014 and then from there on they would be making the payment to pay for my student loans. They have received two payments from me (July and August) but have not made a payment to Sallie Mae. My student loan is now in default because they neglected to make a payment. Also since signing up with Student Loan Aid, I have not received a statement verifying any payments I have made to them or that they have made to Sallie Mae. They sent me a link to a website that is supposed to track my payments and this website does not have any information on it, including my loan balance and my payment history. They do not return repeated phone calls and instead have an answering service that is not helpful to any customer in need. There is virtually no way of contacting them.Desired Settlement: I would like the two payments I made that were supposed to go to Sallie Mae to be returned to me. I would love for the entire amount I have paid so far to be returned to me because they are in breach of the contract. They asserted that they would take over my student loan payments after my consolidation, but as of 09/17/14, my student loan is delinquent and this is not the service I signed up for. I entrusted them to make payments on time and to not interfere with my record of making my school loan payments on time.

Review: I have been requesting via email with different people from SLA to provide with documentation that my loans are with them, as the money pulls from my bank account every month. I have [redacted] trying to state I owe them money but SLA took my loans over from them. I also cannot log into my account online with them, I cannot log into my old Salle Mae account because of SLA changing the login information to take over the loans. The entire situation from the beginning has been confusing and uncomfortable. I want the proof my loan being with them, I want to be able to access my account online. I want to them to report to [redacted] they took the loans from them so they stop contacting me for SLA not providing them with the necessary information. Again I can prove how SLA has been taking money out of my bank account.Desired Settlement: I want the proof my loan being with them, I want to be able to access my account online. Review: Student Loan Aide represented that they were actually Federal Loan Forgiveness. One time payment of 463.00 then 120 month payments of 46.37 for the total amount payments of 6027.40 instead of paying back the 26, 334.00. Review: I received a phone call from this company stating that they could lower my payments and cut the length of time of my loans. They asked me for $751 and then monthly payments of $208. They said that my previous loan company would no longer be taking money out of my account. I checked my statement today and both companies had taken out money for my monthly fees. I contacted my previous loan provider and they said that this company lied to me, and placed my account in forbearance which is not something I wanted to do. I have since gotten back with my previous loan company and am stopping the forebearance.

I have tried contacting this company by phone twice today and by email too, with no response. I have contacted my bank to stop any fees, and their fraud investigators are looking into this.Desired Settlement: I would like the refund of $751 immediately.

To Whom It May Concern:

Review: I called on 11/20/14 at 1:45pm eastern standard time to clarify why I am paying an extra $10 a month when I was told it was a one time fee prior to signing up for the loan forgiveness. I called into the business regarding an issue with payment. Spoke to the compliance manager [redacted] and he was extremely unprofessional and told me that he "doubts" the representative told me the wrong information regarding my loan payback. He was very aggressive and I told him he should not speak to customers in that manner and I didn't appreciate that and he shouldn't say he doubts whether someone said something or not. He then clarified it and said he doesn't think she said it because she is a top rep instead of clarifying the issue. He discredited me as the customer. I asked for someone on top of him and he said that was it he was the do all. This man is extremely unprofessional and should be disciplined. I would like this conversation replayed and the initial conversation replayed when I signed up for the loan forgivenessDesired Settlement: I want the loan agreement changed to reflect what was told in the initial conversation. I would also like for managers to contact me regarding the treatment received from [redacted] so I can elaborate

Review: I contacted this company to help me lower my student loan payments. On August 15, 2014, they withdrew $1,499 from my bank account saying that this money would be held in a "trust" while they "consolidated" my student loans. In October, November and December they withdrew $562.86 from my bank account for monthly payments on my student loans that they were supposedly consolidating. During the phone call with this company on August 14, 2014, I was told my monthly payments would be somewhere around $550 once they "consolidated" my loans. This company did not consolidate my loans. Instead, they changed the user name, password, mailing address, and phone number on my Sallie Mae/Navient account and said they would "manage" it. My parents, who cosigned for one loan, started getting phone calls shortly after this from Sallie Mae/Navient saying my account was overdue. This month, I started receiving collection phone calls from Sallie Mae/Navient. This company has withdrawn $3,187.58 from my bank account and not a penny has been sent to pay my school loans. When I called the company to see why nothing was done, they told me they'd had trouble getting me the payment they promised but they never bothered to call me and let me know this. They told me this month (December 2014) when I called them that my actual payment would be exactly the same as what I was already paying to my current loan servicer. The person I spoke to at this time told me they didn't know why the person in August would have told me $550/month and they probably "don't work for this company anymore."Desired Settlement: I would like a full refund of the money they withdrew from my account ($3,187.58). None of this money has been sent to my loan and no service was ever provided to me.

Hi [redacted],

I got a letter from the Revdex.com with your compliant, and I saw that [redacted], one of our Compliance managers had spoken to you today, 9/22/2014. I had also spoken to you after that conversation you had with him to follow up with you.

Review: In February, I spoke with [redacted], representative LLC/Student Loan Aid, Inc. (at phone number [redacted]. This company promised they would cut down my monthly payment. [redacted] informed me that an initial payment installation of $367.00 would come out on the 2nd—though, going forward, the payment amount would be $194.32 on the 4th of every month I was given every reason to believe that this money would be going directly towards my Federal Loan. After a few days of feeling uneasy because I was not hearing back from [redacted] I decided to cancel. I felt very sketchy. I called her in April to Cancel because I did not feel comfortable. She stated a check would be in the mail for the amount of $561.32. I just looked on my account and I was charged $194.32 on 5/4. I attempted to call 4 times, but did not hear back, I became suspicious. Two months of payments have already been taken out of my bank account by this company (total of $561.32), However, none of this has been applied toward my federal loan. Currently (5/8/2015), my federal loan account states that a payment had not been made by them. Therefore, this company and their promises are a scam. Upon doing further research I have discovered similar reviews, as well as a website that is not much more than a home page.Desired Settlement: Due to the false pretenses under which this “company” has operated, I demand that they (Processing Services, LLC/Student Loan Aid, Inc.) destroy all documentation related to my account and my private information, provide a full refund of the amount of $561.32.

Response:

The situation with Ms. [redacted] has already been resolved and she is completely satisfied with the outcome, She was issued a refund on 5/11/2015, but we had to put a stop payment on the check due to the fact that all payments that were drafted from her bank account came back as disputed/revoked. [redacted] advised me that she would contact the Revdex.com and let them know that everything has been resolved to her satisfaction.

Review: Student Loan Aid claimed that they would take a debit from my bank account monthly and apply this monthly payment to my consolidated student loans. This has been occurring for several months. The first month they took $302.00 from my account. In the following months, to present, they took $147.92 each month. None of these payments have been applied to my consolidated student loans. A phone call to FedLoan Servicing (the company that has my consolidated loans) confirmed that they have not received any payments to my account through the duration of time payments have been made to Student Loan Aid. They also placed their address on my credit report as my address.Desired Settlement: I want a refund of my money and for Student Loan Aid to delete my account and information with them.

Response:

Hello,

I signed up with SLA but still received a statement from my original loaner. I called the original student loan company I used and asked why I received a statement when I am getting the "Obama student loan help". They didn't know what I was talking about and that I should not be going to an external source for a loan through them.

I called Student Loan Aid over 10 times to cancel my contract. My contract said I had 14 days to cancel. I left 6 detailed messages with my name, DOB, and phone number to cancel my contract within the allotted time. After several days I finally received a callback from 3 different agents. Unfortunately they called during work and left a message. Each message from them stated they understood I wanted to go over other options but did not confirm cancellation. I finally was able to talk to a representative the day before my contract ended. I stated I did not want to discuss further options, I am to have this cancelled immediately. He confirmed the cancellation is now being processed and we hung up. The next day he left a message stating I needed to also send an email to "[email protected]". I did just this and received a message failure so I sent a message to "[email protected]" to be certain of spelling. Received a message failure again. I looked all over the slahelp.org site for canceling my contract but find nothing.

I changed my bank account immediately so they cannot take out any money. I have made multiple attempts to cancel and have not been able to do so.
