Student Loan Aid Reviews (238)

We have tried and tried to contact Ms. [redacted] and have not been able to reach her due to her work schedule, [redacted] finally replied to me Via E-mail stating that she is not working on Monday June. 8 and she will call me then so that we can discuss this matter and resolve any issues.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
I have been in contact with Mohlea stating my loan has and was still in standing with them. That I have been placed on a income based payment of $0. So I have no idea of the services SLA has provided ? Just that I have given them a estimated payment of $700.00 over a year period. None of it has been applied to my loan. People need to be aware of this company, they know the right legal terms of what to say but when it comes down to it it's basically a scam. I've seen some of the reviews and it's exactly the same as what has happened to me.

[redacted],We have received the your complaint from the Revdex.com this afternoon 12/9, I promptly tried to reach out to you and left you a message about this. I saw on your file that yesterday you had signed up at 12/8 10:12am, and then 3:40pm that day your file was declined to be submitted to...

processing, due to your request to cancel. I am sending this message to confirm your cancellation with the services of Student Loan Aid, as per requested. And we did confirm you are taken out of the billing cycle and our processors have stopped working on your file as of yesterday 12/8/2014.Your first payment date was scheduled to be drafted late December, and you will not be billed. We honor our clients concerns & requests within a reasonable period of time. There is no cause for concern, again the you will not be billed for services you have not received. As well as for our clients private-nonpublic information we take great lengths to ensure that is protected. Our policy is that a cancelled clients file is expunge from our system 6 months after a client cancels unless a written request is received from a client to do that sooner.I am disappointed if the you had felt you were treated anything less than professionally. I am following up with appropriate action with that agent to ensure compliance, and customer service standards are met. After listening to the call I do not hear any affiliation made, in fact what the agent said was "We follow the Department of Education's guidelines and programs."Also your enrollment was not finalized as you did not complete your welcome call with the verification department. And very clearly in the script for verification to complete your enrollment, we make sure you understand there is no direct affiliation with federal government.Of course after you called the DOE, they told you never give out your PIN and they also say the same about your SSN, yet as its known, these kinds of sensitive information are asked by many companies when taking an application for enrollment including say for example your power & electric company. This information was necessary to pull up your loan balances, the same as running a credit report its necessary to have your SSN. Again this information is secure and we go to great lengths to ensure the protection of our clients sensitive information as stated in our privacy policy. We appreciated the opportunity that you had thought to use our service and we regret that we are no longer doing business together.--Regards,[redacted]

[redacted] Confirmation of Cancellation & Refund Revdex.com ID [redacted],I have received the your complaint from the Revdex.com on 12/29, we promptly tried to reach out to your daughter [redacted] and left her a message about this. I saw on your file that Oscar, one of...

the [redacted]s here had put a hold on her account to stop billing. And also she and him had spoke about the reason for her wanting to cancel.Today, 1/2/2015 I spoke with you, [redacted], and we came to resolution that we will issue a refund check for the payments made, although verifiable there was work done on [redacted]'s file and her consolidation was completed 11/6 the same day we accepted her first payment , and her last payment of $46.32 on 12/6 was not yet dispersed on her account and that is because it was scheduled for disbursement. The cause for concern was that Fedloan put [redacted] under a program we didn't apply for, that was the Graduated program, and they contacted her that she had to make payments of $169 and was behind a month of payment. That was not right, so have to put them under a forbearance and reapply with [redacted]'s pay stubs for the Income Based Repayment program that also known as Pay As You Earn.We applied for the IBR for her but Fedloan, we don't know why they put her under a graduated program which why they've been asking $169 a month. That's not the program we applied for so after speaking with you, we decided that we'll correct the issue with Fedloan be sure we get her under the correct program, the IBR. And we'll do that for no future charge and this will take up to 30 days so I gave you the option that if after 30 days if you or [redacted] are not satisfied we'll have no problem mailing the refund check. And we did confirm she is taken out of the billing cycle on your file as of Monday 12/29/2014.As well as for our clients private-nonpublic information we take great lengths to ensure that is protected.I will follow up with another correspondence to [redacted] & [redacted] directly to show the refund check has been written in good faith and to get the necessary details to complete the processing for the IBR.--Regards,[redacted] &Customer Service [redacted]Student Loan Aid[redacted] Dept:###-###-####Main line:949.SLA.HELP752.4357[redacted]

In February of last year I started requesting services from Student Loan Aid. After talking with them on the phone I was under the impression that the service they offered was to consolidate my loans and help me pay them back at a reduced rate. After an initial payment of $300 I began paying $50 a month every month since then. Unknown to me was they only provided loan consolidation services and that my monthly payment was not for my loans but instead as payment for their loan consolidation services. Though in talking with them over the phone it was not mentioned that the monthly payment was only for their services and none of it would be making it to my loans.Because I was paying for a service I didn't even need (since loan consolidation is provided free) and because the employees I spoke with at Student Loan Aid used misleading language to trick me into paying for a service I did not need and that I ended up paying for 11 months I request a refund. I want back my initial payment of $300 as well as my 11 months of paying $50 in total. This company swindled me out of this money and I deserve to have it back so I can make up payments on my actual student loans.

Review: This business is a SCAM ! They claim to help with student loans. I've been paying them for a year, so when I kept receiving emails from my precious student loan lender I finally called them they said my loan is still with them and they see no record of any payments to my loan balance, and I still accrued interest for that whole year ! I called SLA and said I wanted my account closed & a full refund of my money. Almost $700, paid to what ? where ? The manager Oscar is very unprofessional, he will argue and yell at you !! It's really crazy how these people can get away with this!! This business needs to be shut down and INVESTIGATED !!!!!!! We all deserve a refund of our money, or they should be ordered to apply that money to our loan balances.Desired Settlement: I want a full refund of my money ! They should be shut down for not operating legally and not providing services they say they are. There is record of all this.

Review: I received a phone call from student loan aid in regards to lowering my student loan debt. The guy on the phone seemed really nice and eager to help me lower my student loan payments and get me into debt forgiveness. I received this phone call after a long day at work and was vulnerable. I should have done research before hand other than just looking at their website which was totally bs. Regretfully, I accepted their services and signed electronically. I was told I would be charged $495 on December 30, 2014 for a one time fee. After I finished talking with him I felt nervous and did some more research and found a lot of complaints for student loan aid and that many people had problems with them. I immediately called back and demanded to cancel. I was hung up on several times which made me even more nervous. After calling them back again and again I finally got a service rep on the phone. I told her I wanted to cancel my account immediately and she tried asking me why and talking me out of it but I kept saying I wanted to cancel. She told me I would have to speak with someone from the billing department. I asked her to transfer me and she said she couldnt because they were too busy. I was starting to panic at this time because I new this was probably a scam. She kept promising me that I wouldnt be charged the $495 and to calm down. I asked for a confirmation email which the contract states would be sent to me. She told me she couldnt send one. She didnt even know about the confirmation email. I told her the contract states I can write or call by phone to cancel and she told me that the call was being recorded and I would NOT be charged the $495 on 12/30/14. She told me someone would contact me in a few days. It has been over a week and no one has contacted me. I have not been charged the $495 yet because it is 12/13/14 today but I am scared I will be on 12/30/14. Be very careful with companies like this, student debt scams are out there.Desired Settlement: I would like someone to contact me from SLA like they said they would and send me some sort of verification that my account has been cancelled. I recorded my conversation with them twice but I just do not want to be charged. This is very stressful and I just need some closure. Please contact me SLA.

Review: Hello, Revdex.com. I am contacting you guys as a first line of defense before I seek help from a lawyer. I was recently up for renewal with SLA, I told them I no longer needed their services because I was in a much better financial position. They offered continued service with waived fees, so I said alright. I sent them all of the information they required, even called back multiple times to make sure everything with my account was "up to date" and set up properly. I have been making these payments to this company since then, and 4 months later, I get a letter in the mail from my student loan company saying I am delinquent and it will affect my credit score if not fixed. I call SLA up to see whats going on, they tell me everything with my account is fine, they will check with my student loan company and then told me not to worry about it. The next day, I call my student loan company again to let them know what SLA said, and they told me they have no record of payments for the past 4 months and I was on deferment which expired. When I called SLA back to tell them this, they THEN decide to tell me my account is missing information and thats why I havent been placed in a "program" yet. I tell them you know what, I am done with you guys, I don't need your help anyway. I tell them to cancel my account, they do so. I then ask when I will be receiving the amount escrowed in my account from the past 4 months (720 dollars) and they tell me its in my contract that they keep whatever is remaining in my account if I cancel. Heres the problem. My contract says they cannot refund all associated FEES for the account, not FUNDS for the account. Obviously, 720 dollars is not a small amount, so I demanded they give me a refund as to me this is robbery. The man said he would have their refund dept look at it and he would call me back the next day with an answer. That was Thursday the 3rd, it is now Tuesday the 8th. Ive tried calling multiple times and get no answer, left messages, etc.Desired Settlement: Looking for a refund of the past 4 months payments (720 dollars)

This company has done nothing for me at all except help me INCREASE the balance of my loan.

I am now 40 days away from this affecting my credit score, as well as 330 dollars behind with my actual student loan company, which is why I need this refund. To bring my account in good standing with them again and continue normal payments, without this scam of a middleman company involved. I have never been delinquent on a payment before in my life and pride myself on having excellent credit. I am not going to let this company ruin that. Thank you

Review: I have made several attempts to resolve this matter with SLA and I have received no response. After continuous calls from SLA regarding government loan forgiveness I provided some of my loan information to SLA. I was contacted repeatedly by this company. Each message left by them stated that my federal student loans were eligible for a reduction and to call them back ASAP. I called them and spoke with a [redacted]. He asked for my student loan PIN & Loan number with NAVIENT (Sallie Mae) , my social security number and my checking account number ... all of which I regret tingly gave him. Upon calling the Department of Education, I spoke to a representative there who told me that it is illegal for anyone to ask for my PIN, and he informed me that this company is not affiliated with the Department of Education whatsoever, which is completely the opposite of what [redacted] told me. He also advised me to change my Department of Education PIN as well as my checking account number as soon as possible. After learning this, I spoke with [redacted] again and told him what I had learned and that I was concerned. He immediately took on a defensive position. I told him that I was concerned about fraudulent activity on their (SLA) part. I asked him to please cancel my request for loan forgiveness with them immediately. I've not received any response from them at all this has been going on for five months now. I've contacted this company via phone and email on several occasion to cancel my loan forgiveness with SLA. I asked him to please send verification of cancellation via email immediately, just as he had previously did when I signed documents to begin service. No response from my previous 3 request. After this, he has refused to acknowledge my written confirmation of cancellation. After five months of dealing with this company SLA they seem to be very unknowledgeable of all of the products & services, regarding any of my loan information or loan status.Desired Settlement: An email verification that my loan consolidation request with Student Loan Aid has been cancelled and all previously signed documents by me are voided. Refund of $132.42 for the past five months that has been electronically drafted from my personal account. They also stated this program was affiliated with the department of education and OBAMA initiative, which is not true at all.

Where do I start with student services. First of all they contacted me when I was at my lowest. My student loans were defaulted as hell and it was really affecting my credit/ life. I was about to have my taxes withheld and my wages garnished and student services came in and saved the day. They gave me a choice, continue on with the way things were going or pay a small fee and get my life back on track . So here I am 4 months later in repayment plan that offers a low monthly payment and I couldn't be happier. no more garnishment , no more annoying calls from your lender. Would definitely recommend this company to anybody who has student loans that are out of control which is pretty much everyone.

Review: I first contacted Student Loan Aid (SLA) following messages left offering service. I set up an account with SLA on Tuesday September 30th. I was told a $350 deposit was required to begin services. On Wednesday October 1st, I looked up SLA on Revdex.com website and realized I should not have signed a contract with the company. As stated in the contract, I had 14 days to cancel services. I called and emailed numerous times to get in touch with someone the rest of the week. I finally spoke with someone Friday October 3rd, and was informed I would receive an email to begin the cancellation process. By Saturday October 4th, I had not received this email. I emailed the SLA Support informing them that I had requested cancellation of services, and was concerned this was not honored as I had not received the email. I also informed them that the pre-agreed payment of $350 was not authorized and I did not want it pulled from my bank account as I had been trying to cancel services for a few days. I received a phone call and a voicemail on Wednesday October 8th. I was unable to return the call as I had to work. On Thursday October 9th, I checked my bank account and saw that the $350 was pulled from my account. I am concerned that SLA's customer service will continue to suck, and I will have a hard time getting my services cancelled or my money back.Desired Settlement: I would like my $350 back, as well as the services to be cancelled.

Review: I contacted Student Loan Aid because I was having trouble making my student loan payments. They offered to help me pay back my loans at a lower monthly fee that would be based off my income. After paying an upfront $299 down payment and making one payment of $44.99 I have heard nothing from this company. I have recieved no receipt for either of these transactions. Plus, my payment of $44.99 has not been applied to any of my current student loans. I have tried to call them at least once a week for the past month and a half and only once have I gotten someone on the phone. Usually I leave a voicemail that goes unanswered. When I did get someone on the phone they told me that a receipt would be coming in the mail and that my payment won't be applied to my loans until I send in the rest of the documentation that they wanted from me. So far I have yet to recieve anything in the mail from them.Desired Settlement: I would like to recieve a refund for both my down payment as well as my first payment totaling $244.99. I would also like for my information to be removed from their system and for them to never try and contact me again.

I asked him to please send verification of cancellation via email immediately, just as he had previously when I signed documents to consolidate, but he said that it would take 1-2 business days. After this, he still wanted to continue the argument, to which I informed him that I had an appointment to attend and that I needed him to send verification of the cancellation. He hung up on me.,Desired Settlement: An email verification that my loan consolidation request with Student Loan Aid has been cancelled and all previously signed documents by me are voided.

Review: I enrolled with Student Loan Aide in December 2014 to refinance a student loan, they have collected monthly payments, yet no payoff or even payment has been made to my original lender. I have called every number listed for SLA and everytime get a message saying "they will TRY to connect me to a representative" I have sent emails requesting contact, and their website has several contact features offered (live chat, email, phone) none of the links connect to anything/anyone. My original lender today informed me that no inquiries have been made to my account. I am now 2 months behind on student loan payments.Desired Settlement: Refund of all monies collected since January 2015.

Review: I was contacted by Student Loan Aid.us to get loan forgiveness and was told they could do the work and that I qualified. I was asked for $250 up front which I provided. An additional 38.06 would be taken out of checking each month for services for 20 yrs making my loan amount only 12,000 instead of the origial 30,000. I spoke to an education specialist after doing this and was told they are illegal to do this. No money should be taken up front for federal student loans. I closed the checking account and now am trying to get back my $250. The company does not answer calls. The business label appears as S/L/A and SLA.usa is another name they use on their letter heads.[redacted] and [redacted] are the loan officers.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund of my $250.

Subject: Re: You have a new message from the Revdex.com

To: "[email protected]" <[email protected]>

The company Student loan aid has returned my down payment and was very courteous.

Review: I was contacted by Student Loan Aid saying they would help me have a lower monthly payment on my student loans. On 7/16/14 they withdrew $326 from my bank account as an initial payment then withdrew $49.08 from my account on 8/15/14, 9/15/14, and 10/15/14 totaling $473.24. They said that this money would be going towards my student loans, which I believed, until I received an e-mail from my loan provider saying my first payment was due 11/9/14.

When I contacted the company to question this, they said they had incorrect information and would need the correct information to try "reapplying me into the right program." In August they notified me there was a problem with information they had, which I quickly responded to with what I believed was the right information. I did not receive any word from them that there was still an issue, but apparently there was. So for two months they were not working towards getting me "into a program," yet still withdrawing money from my account, because of an issue I was unaware of until I contacted them.

My entire experience with this company has been frustrating. When I first signed on with them, I did not receive any kind of acknowledgement or "Welcome Email" for weeks from the company even though they withdrew the initial payment of $326 from my account right away. It was only after an obnoxious amount of phone calls and voicemails that I was able to get in touch with someone who corrected the error, giving me a username and generic password to a website that does not give any information other a payment was made to them.

Not only have they not provided the service they advertised, they did not contact me when an issue arose that directly prohibited them from providing the service and helping me. Instead, they decided to sit on the information while still collecting my money. I would have never known there was a problem if I didn't ask them why I was getting a bill from my loan provider.Desired Settlement: I would like a full refund of the $473.24, for them to cancel my contract and not withdraw any more money from my account, and for them to delete all of my personal information from their records.
