Review: I recently purchased a Toyota Corolla on 11/18/13 at the agreement price of $17,000. The dealer added all kinds of hidden fees and the price went up to $22,077. At that point I had asked for my money back and he told me to go get a lawyer. They also verbally promised a vehicle with keyless push start. I received a car with a key. They had also charged me twice for registration and twice for documentary service fee. They also lied about the fact that they don't get paid by commission which is not true. They told me the car is coming from California and ended up coming from Morristown NJ. Finally, they told me I would financially be paying for the car through Toyota instead they did the transaction through [redacted] bank.Desired Settlement: Refund of my purchase.

We are taking the car back as the customer has requested he wants and returning him all of his downpayment as well.

Review: I purchased a 2009 Camry from Toyota Universe that was sold to me as a certified used car, which I later on found out through corporate that it was not a certified used car. And in the seven months that I had the car, I had to take it to the service center multiple times. They had to replace the steering shaft, the fuel sensor, an axle, and then finally the car turned out needing a new engine. The day I picked up my car from the service center after it getting a new engine, 20 minutes after I left the dealer I'm driving down route 3 going home and the car just shuts off on me. Thank god I was on the last lane and was able to pull over immediately. (that's dangerous and could of cause an accident). Every time I went to the service center to get work done on the vehicle it was always a hassle because they were never able to find my warranty information because the girl who handles all the paperwork for that when I first purchased the car put the information in wrong. So almost every time I had to get the manager out to the service center to talk to them because they kept trying to charge me for the repairs. After all of that the managers tried helping me and said they would put me in another car and take back the first car. They gave me a 2011 Hundai Sonata to drive around for a couple days without signing any contracts for it yet just to see how I like it. Well as I'm driving the car home it starts making a loud grinding noise, the front end of the car was shaking. The next morning I go to take my son to school and the front bumper is coming off. I searched the VIN number of the car and it has nine recalls and only five were done. So basically Toyota Universe was trying to put me into another messed up car. Every time I went there the people were very unprofessional and using curse words. They were rude and disrespectful and I felt like they were just goofing around the entire time and not doing any work. It was the worst experience of my life.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund of all the money I put into the 2009 Camry that they sold to me. Its a total of $4,505.58. It's only fair, since the car was at the service center more than it was at my own home.

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:If they would of never sold me a car that was practically a lemon I would of never had to go through everything that they put me through and make the decisions that I was basically forced to make. They lied to me and took advantage of the business trust I thought I could have in a company like that.

Review: Where do I begin? First off, currently my truck has been in toyotas facility for a full calendar month to replace a single tire. That's a full 455.00 finance payment and a full months insurance payment. I purchased the truck in February 2013 and it has been in repair for a total off approx 150 days since. That's almost half the time I've had it in possession. The reason for this was because the truck was sold to me without being inspected by anyone. They admitted that they "assumed" their neighboring [redacted] who they received the truck from inspected it, but they did not. If they really got it from [redacted] who knows. Point is I have it in writing that they allowed it to leave the lot without being checked out. they allowed a 30,000 used truck leave with no one checking it. It was sold to me with a broken windshield wiper, low coolant level, cracked rim/air gauge, corroded battery, locked up breaks, severely shaky steering wheel, air bubbles in tires, and a few other minor details. I was a first time buyer and test drove around the lot which s why I didn't notice most things until the ride home, and days after. The sales person was an old friend of mine which helped me trust the business, which I fully regret and he is willing to testify they knew it was never checked out as well as me having it in writing. Within 6 days the tire blew and so the repair process began. Over 11 months it has accumulated approx 150 days in their shop, and the truck is still nowhere near fixed. I have all texts with the manager saved admitting all his company's faults and promises to reimburse me or completely refund the whole deal and get me out of it. Which never happened. With tax and service plans plus finance I am paying over 40k for this 7 year old truck, and I have spent approx 4,500 in monthly payments and insurance to sit in their lot and not even fix the problem. It has been there for service over 7 times and its no where near done. They have also stopped returning my calls.Desired Settlement: I was offered to get out of the contract and to be refunded every dollar I spent if we could not work out a deal on how much money I am owed for for all the time it has sat in their lot due to their own neglect. I contacted corporate and corporate directed back to them. When manager told me he was contacting corporate for approval of the refund 2 months passed and when asked about it [redacted] said they have not gotten back to them. 2 months?? I have all texts and dates saved. All admittance of neglect on their part in writing. I have called 3 or 4 times in past month and can never get past the girl at the desk, not one time has the manager been in, supposedly. The manager stopped responding to me, nobody calls me back. A full month for a tire and not one person has called me back to update anything. I would like to fully get out of the deal or a HUGE refund. 40K for this? This has been the worst experience of my life as a 1st time buyer. I'm left without a vehicle and no way to get around

[redacted] vehicle is completed. He had broken a rim and tire while driving and we had to process a claim through his insurance comapny to have the repairs done. We are reaching out to him again to try and resolve.

Consumer

Response:

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:They have made zero attempts to resolve ANYTHING. In the past few months they have only managed to call me back one time and I have it on record. Every time I call a manager is not in, yet they were always right on time when I purchasing it. As for the "repair" that took 45 days to complete and they left me without a car, they gave my truck back to me in worse condition than it went in. In 12 months of attempting to repair this truck, they STILL gave it back to me with the tire light on in which they haven't been able to figure out since they sold it for 40k to me with a list of other problems. On top of that, now the tire that they worked on for 45 days sounding like chalk scratching a chalkboard while driving, and now sprays brown stuff onto my brand new rim. They have absolutely no clue how to fix this truck that they charged me 40k for that's 7 years old. You'd expect pristine condition right? It's been in there shop for over 5 MONTHS since I purchased 12 months ago and they have admitted it because of their own negligence as I have in writing, yet no one offers me my money back for the costs of 5 months monthly payments/insurance that it say there because of this. 2 times alone were in there 40+ days at once. Never once have they offered to send it to Range Rover to be repaired properly since their guys do not have a clue. They have managed to repair one, and only one thing in 12 months properly. The steering. Which when I purchased it, they allowed it to leave the lot driving like I was inclining up a Rocky Mountain when really I was on smooth paved road. That's how bad the steering was, and it took roughly 6 months, and 3 separate times totaling over 60 days to repair that one thing correctly. This was the first vehicle I've ever purchased on my own, and it's been the biggest nightmare. Not because of the truck, but the company that sold it. To top it off out the 800 times that its had to be towed to their facility, each time I call they tell me to call [redacted] because they say I'm not covered for the tow, that I didn't purchase Toyota care plan. When in fact I did, and then have to call toyota care to tell them that the store is saying I never purchased it, when they agree I did, I have to call back and give them claim number to prove it. It's unreal. That's happened 4 or 5 of the times. Currently trying to cancel that as well because now I did purchase [redacted] because atleast they will be aware I'm a customer without having to make multiple calls and waste time and days. I've also paid for multiple tows under Toyota care. Was told I'd be reimbursed, never happened. I could go on. But I'm exhausted.

Response:

After considering [redacted] response I'm afraid we are not going to be able to satisfy his concerns. There are a total of six repair orders that have been opened since Mr. Jackson purchased his vehicle in February of 2013. When he first purchased the vehicle there were concerns he wanted addressed regarding the steering and esthetics of his vehicle. We addressed these concerns at no cost. The last 3 visits to our shop have been to repair rims and tires that were damaged as a result of the vehicle hitting curbs, potholes at excessive speed, and other same such scenarios that are beyond our control. These repairs are covered by a “tire and wheel” warranty that [redacted] purchased. The company, after too many claims in one year, will no longer allow us to “auto approve” any claims for damage. They now require a claims rep to investigate each claim individually which adds a great deal of time to the process. We have offered courtesy transportation on each occasion but [redacted] has refused. We have to make multiple phone calls to reach [redacted] at which point he states we do not call. I have made multiple attempts to reach an appropriate compensation settlement with [redacted] to apologize for his inconvenience, but either his level of expectation was too high, or he was unable to meet due to personal reasons. It’s been more than a year now and [redacted] vehicle is repaired and operating as designed. I do not believe refunding [redacted] the money he paid for the vehicle appropriate or warranted which is all he has stated he is willing to accept. We advised [redacted] to purchase less aggressive higher profile rims that may be more suitable to his style of driving, but he refused as he enjoys the look of the current rims. At this point I do not see any way to satisfy [redacted] concerns other than continue to repair his vehicle as it requires as per the terms and conditions of his warranty.

Review: The dealership refuses to honor the same/original contract agreement that they originally offered to me when I purchased a new vehicle.Desired Settlement: Honor the originally contract/agreement that I originally signed when I purchased the vehicle being that they did not disclosed all the information necessary for me to make an educated financial/practical decision when purchasing the vehicle.

Consumer

Response:

I signed the signed contract while at the dealership into a electronic pad which get's stored into a computer electronically. With that they changed the contact terms and conditions and then said I agreed to the new contract which I didn't. I would not have purchased the vehicle if I had all the correct information presented to me. Storing a signature electronically then changing a contract's terms and agreement is to fraudulent. I agreed to purchase the vehicle under a the original contract not the 2nd one that was presented to me later.

Review: Sales rep, [redacted], confirmed the certified vehicle I purchased was covered for 100,000 miles and/or five years on top of the odometer reading of more than 67,000 miles. This is the only reason I purchased the vehicle. I was in the market for a certified vehicle under 40,000 miles. I asked him twice prior to agreeing to purchase the vehicle if I would be covered, he stated yes. I was also advised certification would be $700 and would cover the entire vehicle. My total monthly payment that I agreed to was $225 for 72 months. When I met the finance manager to finalize the purchase, he stated the certification only covered the engine and transmission. Full certified coverage was billed at almost $2,000, which increased my payment to $259.50. This practice is very deceptive, not disclosing all the charges when selecting the vehicle. It was approximately 10:30 pm when the sale was finalized. The finance manager had me sign the electronic signature pad and put all the papers in a folder for me. If I would have known the vehicle was not covered for an additional 100,000 miles as per the sales, I would not have made the purchase.

Attached is the Toyota Certified Platinum Agreement. Per the agreement the car is covered up to 8 years or 125,000 miles. I do not understand why the coverage was reduced to 100,000 miles or five years by Toyota.

The vehicle was listed online at a price of $14,985, with $5,000 down, 72 months at 2.9% with a monthly payment of $150. With credit of tier 1. My credit score is 718 and the APR was billed at 6.15%. I questioned the finance manager of the APR and he stated it was because I chose 72 months to pay. This is not what it stated on their website. My APR should be lower. I strongly believe this is an attempt to increase the price of the vehicle.

I had several issues after the purchase of the vehicle where the sales rep never returned my calls.Desired Settlement: Vehicle purchased less than a month ago. I am requesting Toyota to honor the 100,000 and/or five years certification with the start date of my vehicle purchase (not from 2009), as stated by the sales rep.

I would also appreciate my APR to be reduced if possible, since I have a credit score of 718. If the above is not acceptable, I am requesting a similar vehicle with less mileage at no additional cost to me, since there is a 30 day guarantee on the vehicles. My monthly payment will be made on time until this dispute is resolved. Thank you.

Review: I went to get a car of my choice and was told I cant but was put into a car not of my liking after waiting almost 5hrs with my children home calling me to come home since I been there since 5pm. Then when I went to there office to go for the plates since they had expired, found out that they never approved the loan, so I had to give the car back and was told I cant get a loaner but I have to rent a car in my name and credit card, supposely they were going to reimburse me for the rental, which I thought was weired. Anyway I did since they said that was my last resort, they took the car back from me and had me sign other papers. Since theyre putting through so much and they took the car from me to wait until loan go through then I can have the car. I told them to just give me my money back because of unprofessionalism. They didnt want to, so I request to talk to their regional manager and they wrote me a check request to get my money back. Now they told me in one week I would get my money, I waited two weeks and still they havent given me the full amount. I have the check request for $3312.00 the paid me $3000.00. I paid almost $800.00 fror the rental which they should be paying me but only decided to give me $312.00 of it and still I cant get the $312.00 owed to me. I would rather they pay the whole thing since that was the agreement verbally. Theyre the worst and would never reccomend anyone to purchase a car from their franchise. Its so sad that they can rob innocent poor people and get away with it. I need the rest of my money owed to me as I have the check request in my possession. Please look into for me. Your help is appreciated.Desired Settlement: the whole car rental bill gained from this experience. Also since they was taking such a long time to refnd me I am without a car and I need to get around to work and take my children to school. I am finally going to get another vehicle from another dealer but was forced to drive a rental till then. I have purchased 4 cars before and never been through such a stress. very bad business. I will also report them to the channel 11 news. I have documents to proove claim.

Review: I was called to go to the Toyota universe dealer located on route [redacted]o go & pick up the 2015 Toyota Tacoma, Jose D[redacted] contacted me & told me that they had a 2015 Tacoma for a very good price because it was used and it had 9000 miles, and that they would take my 2007 Honda Accord that took me from point A to point B as a trade in. When I got to Toyota universe I introduced my self to Jose D[redacted] and he introduced me to a salesman who's name was christino , the guy did not even told me his last name...

he gave me a Toyota Corolla to take home without even trying the car on a text drive (the car was smaller than my 2007 Honda Accord. The ride home was very uncomfortable that Friday night. I contacted the dealer the next morning and the salesman told me to go the following Wednesday, I showed up the following Monday & Manny R[redacted] (the sales Manager) told me that I had no choice but to take the RAV4 and that my 2007 Honda was not longer available.

The bank loan me 33 thousand dollars and some change for me to purchase the Tacoma I need but instead they sold me the RAV4 and a bunch of warranty that I didn't even know or need.

The retail price for the 2015 RAV4 is $23,680

The salesman Christino sold it to me for $28,181

Plus $2,500 Service contract

$380 Additional equipment (option)

$780 Maint plan (Autocare)

$895 Gap protection do I need all the above on a brand new car?

A total of 32,736 for a $23,680 value car not $28,181 is the Le not the limitedDesired Settlement: To work with Toyota universe to resolve this matter...

Review: I'm a customer of Toyota Universe for over 4 years now…but I'm utterly disappointed with today's oil change appointment.

I came in today at 1130am for a simple oil change. During the wait, [redacted] informed me that my car needs a new rear brakes and it would take about 2 - 3 hrs to complete the job. At the time, I was reluctant to proceed since I only had enough time for the oil change before commit back to my patients care in the afternoon at my office.

However, [redacted], convinced me to get it done in one visit and he would able to provide me with shuttle service to/from [redacted]

This is where the problem occurred…I was not made aware when the job was done nor I was inform when the shuttle would arrived. Even when I called to confirm the completion of my car, I've waited over 2 hrs outside in the rain since the building of lock its door behind. I've waited a total of 2 1/2 hrs for my shuttle to arrived to [redacted]

In addition, the service department would not honor my coupon for $50.00 off for spending over $400 of service.

Review: Bait and switch scam. There was a 2003 corolla advertised for $3,500 so I call and one of the sales associates Pasquale says he is right in front of the car and has the keys to it. Arrange to see it in 20 minutes when I arrive and they waste 2 hours of my time to tell me it is gone and come look at other cars. Complete scam manager did not seem to care at all one bit and enforced bait and switch scams in which the vehicles advertised were sold months prior and still left on their website just to get people through the door.Desired Settlement: Do not bait and switch other people in the future as you are making your business shady and people will hate car dealerships because of things like this. Consider resolving your advertisement issues and trying to get people through the door with asotnishing chstomer service and prices not scams. I happened to like another car and once again test drive the car, we could not reach a price agreement, therefore I decided not to buy from this dealer. I have now followed up for atleast 20 times and they just don't bother to redeem the $25 voucher. I understand since, the were unable to sell a car to me they don't bother now. Review: I filed a complaint with Toyota Universe on 11/15/15 and I am filing a new one. My previous complaint was regarding the brake lights and lens cover (tail lights). This one is regarding the transmission fluid. On Monday 11/16/15, we brought the car to a mechanic to check the car for problems. He found that the transmission have a leak. Again, despite the dealer's statement that they did a 160 point inspection, they sold us a car with a transmission leak. If we did not bring the car to a mechanic, we would have not found out about the leak and chances are our lives would have been in danger when the car suddenly stops when all the transmission fluid is emptied out. Dealer agreed to fix this but the issue is they sold us a car that has safety issues. and they claimed that they did 160 point inspection which was false information and a contract breach.Desired Settlement: Repair of transmission fluid leak plus replacement of tail lights and fix brake lights.

Review: University Toyota's website advertising is false. Here is the listing for the car I was interested in purchasing:

http://www.toyotauniverse.com/certified/Toyota/2012-Toyota-Prius+c-Little-Falls-... />
RIght on the ad it lists that the car is "Certified Pre-Owned" along with the following:

SHOP WITH CONFIDENCE: 12-Month/12,000-Mile Limited Comprehensive Warranty, 7-Year/100,000-Mile Limited Powertrain Warranty, 160-Point Inspection and Reconditioning, 1 Year of Roadside Assistance, Vehicle History Report .

I take this to mean that this is already included in the cost of the car ~ which according to their sales manager, Jose , it is not. It would cost an additional $700.

I strongly believe this is false advertising and the dealership should stop the practice immediately.

Thank you for looking into this for me.

Review: [redacted] was solicited by phone for oil change & asked if interested in refinancing. Made oil apt & declined refi. 5 minutes later was solicited again by phone declined. Was approached about refinain dealership when waiting for oil change by Rafael I[redacted] & a mngr. [redacted] asked for Spanish speaking Salesman at least 3 x that day. but he was assured Rafael, could help. [redacted] did not know what refinance meant, so he requested they call his girlfriend (which is me, [redacted] who is putting in this complaint for him). I asked Rafael to explain everything. He told me they were going to refinance the approx. $11,600 [redacted] owed on his 2010 Toyota, with a lower interest rate. I asked Rafael, to please let me know what additional fees he would have to pay to refi. I was told there were no add'l fees. This didn't seem right to me, so I repeated the question several times. I was then passed to Finance manager Remy B[redacted] who assured me after I asked him to list any add'l charges and he repeatedly said there were non at all. Based on that conversation, I gave [redacted] ok & he signed. A few day later, I looked at the contract & saw that in addition to the $ 11,600 he owed, also rolled into the new loan was appox $815.92 sales tax, Registration fees $167.70, GAP Ins $895.00, Doc fees $395.00, which I believe would all be under the category off ADDITIONAL FEES as asked by me at least 5 times in our phone conversation. Aft several unreturned phone calls, we went in person to TU. We spoke to Rafael & Remy, face to face. According to them the bottom line was that he signed the papers & he seemed to be ok in English. Remy B[redacted] told me that he sold [redacted] the Gap Ins after he hung up the phone with me. Several days later, he changed story to that he gave me that info on phone. Also, TU ordered new plates for [redacted] (which was not Necc for Refi) when I called they said he should have told them NOT to order new plates, which does not make any sense.Desired Settlement: We understand because [redacted] signed he is responsible for the loan. We have taken matters re gap insurance in our own hands. We would like a refund for the cost of ordering new plates that were ordered in error by Toyota Univ registration dept. We would like to have the satisfation of having Toyota Universe look into the selling and unethical sales tactics of Rafael I[redacted] and Remy B[redacted], and The sales Manager. We would like Toyota to know that when at the dealership Rafael was extremely unprofessional, and rudely told us that "we didn't make any money on this deal", and Remy B[redacted] who when questioned several times about his changing stories responded by making loud groans and trying to make it as if we were inconveniencing him every time we spoke. I would also like Toyota Univ to know when I asked Remy who to call or write to, to complain, he sighed very loudly, and without putting me on hold, said to someone, "she want to know where to complain" and gave me address on rte 46

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because: We were contacted by a person named Manny from Toyota Universe. Unfortunately Manny was the Sales Manager that was present the day [redacted] was approached for the refinance. He was the one that Rafael and Remy kept walking away to speak to whilst trying to sell the refinance to [redacted] and apparently the person who oversaw this entire deal. He also was the one who approached [redacted] when [redacted] went in to speak to Remy calmly about canceling the deal. He approached [redacted] with an attitude, and accused [redacted] of trying to intimidate everyone, which was absolutely not true. When [redacted] tried to respond he repeatedly kept saying that there was nothing that can be done because [redacted] signed the contract. Manny did not even sound in the least bit professional when he called to resolve the issue, nor was he well spoken, and said absolutely nothing to say that made us believe that anyone was going to be held accountable. As I went over our experience once again to him, he really had not much to say except that should not have happened. He offered to pay back the registration because it was their error, which they would not admit to before this complaint. Then even before we have even received the credit tried to make me close this case. I do not believe that the persons involved will be reprimanded because Manny is the one who oversaw this whole deal, and was probably instructed to make us go away. We are actually shocked that Toyota Universe would have this person be the one to contact us, when he was responsible for the whole deal. He will say he was not, but he was. After speaking with him, we have decided to pursue not only the registration charges, but the entire amount which is approx. $2000 because according to Manny, this should not have happened, but we can't get our money back. I had noticed that TU telephone system monitors the calls. I would like to have the phone call between Rafael, Remy and I the day of the sale made public, so I can prove that every word they said to me was a lie. We are now in communication with "[redacted]" and if they do not get anywhere, we are prepared to take Toyota Universe to small claims court. In the mean time, I will continue to try to inform the public of our bad experience via social network and review sights such a [redacted] to let people know that if you are not an educated consumer, or do not understand contracts etc, you might not to deal with a company who will target and take advantage of you with their unethical sales tactics. And also if you are an educated consumer, you might not want to deal with a company that would do that to loyal customers that work very hard for their money.

Review: I bought a car from Toyota Universe in Little Falls, NJ at the end of October. They were able to get me into a car the next day. The car I bought, a 2009 camry, runs very well. However, I was told to expect a financial package at the end of the month from the bank I was to make the monthly payments to. I was never told when the monthly payments were due and which bank I was making the payments. I contacted the seller at the dealership who helped me purchase the car a month afterwards. At that point I never got any mail about payments. I texted the seller personally and he assured me it would arrive in a couple more weeks. I waited another month and still never received any mail. I constantly bugged the seller but was just told it would come. I haven't made a payment since I never recieved the mail. I finally signed up for a credit report to find out which bank gave me the loan. I found the bank but I also noticed my credit history took a hit because I wasn't making the payments. I then called the dealer to ask who the loan is with and they told me it was Toyota Financial Services. I called Toyota Financial only to find out that they didnt give me the loan. The dealership has not only given me false information, but the professionalism in helping my situation was nowhere to be found. Now I am two months, going on three months, missing payments and having my credit history deteriorate because of the lack of customer service shown by Toyota Universe.Desired Settlement: I would like the dealer to take back the car.

After reviewing the complaint we have reached out to the customer to come and discuss. We will contact the financial institution on his behalf and try to rectify the situation to his satisfaction.

Review: I went to Toyota Universe to check out the 2015 models and available options I may be interested in when my current lease expires in March.

As an inducement to take delivery of a vehicle in inventory before the end of December 2014; JOHN G[redacted] Salesperson offered to cover all costs of early termination of my current leased 2012 Camry in addition to paying two (2) of the three (3) remaining lease payments.

PROCESSED DEAL WITH JOSE M[redacted] Finance Manager. When he stated that GAP coverage wasn’t included, I restated the only reason to lease and take delivery at this time was because of the above incentive. After getting approval for the monthly payment, incentive offer including the GAP coverage, he proceeded to churn out over 20 pages of the LEASE AGREEMENT. For whatever reason the incentive was omitted when agreement was written up.
