Best regards,

The University of Phoenix has not responded, via e-mail nor via USPS mail. I have attempted to contact them over the phone and via e-mail. They have taken federal grants in my name, with out my permission.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me.  I will wait until for the business to perform this action and, if it does, will consider this complaint resolved.

Regards,

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. As I have stated many many times before, you as a university has a responsibility to tell your students the correct information.  I am finding out you do this to a lot of your students as they get towards the end of their degree.  I am advising them to contact the Revdex.com and the Department of Justice.  I was told numerous times it would not be a problem and that I met all academic areas for the scholarship and the tuition freeze. (Do you not record phone calls?)  I don't care what the paperwork says, you are wrong for leading students to believe they are getting something you never intended to give them or to continue giving them.  As a student who has done well, I would think you would want to see me graduate from your university with good things to say.  Due to your lack of proper training and education of your staff I believe I should get the tuition freeze and my scholarship back.  Own up to your responsibilities and do the right thing.  I don't want to have to take this matter any further, but I will if I have to.Regards,

[redacted]

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details in the response are inaccurate and untrue. Mr. [redacted] was not in constant communication with me and when he did communicate, he lied about the situation. Mr. [redacted] advised me that my IP grade had posted and second disbursement was releasing; it did note second issue, my Grad Plus loan show son my credit report that UOPX received and disbursed $8000.00 to me, however, this is untrue and according to their letter the amount received was $3829.00, this needs t be corrected by UOPX. The adjustment made on my account was not done in good faith, the adjustment was done because UOPX Mr. [redacted] and Mr. [redacted] lied and said that when I originally applied for the Grad Plus Loan, my loan was okay without any issues. I was not notified until months later of missing paperwork, which led to me having to reapply. My disbursement should have released in [redacted], however, UOPX falsely reported an incorrect grade, did not change the grade until it was too late and the extension for the class had ended. My disbursements should have released in January, however, UOPX again about my enrollment status and placed my funds on hold stating I was not in attendance when in fact I was in attendance. For months, I consistently called uOPX asking why the school is constantly reporting me out of attendance and placing my funds on hold when I am in attendance. The response was my account will always go on hold because of a leave of absence I took in 2010 which makes no sense at all. Although UOPX is not responsible for credit reporting, UOPX is required to accurately report attendance status correctly so that the lender can report accordingly; UOPX didn't and I was reported negatively stating my loans were not in an school deferment I have a copy of the credit report showing this. The overall complaint is that UOPX does not handle accounts properly, there are misuse of students funds, advisors are not held accountable for messing up s accounts, classes are affected because of the mistakes UOPX makes and my residency was denied because UOPX consistently showed the charges on my account for residency was zero. I never received and invoice stating that there was a cost for the class, still don't have a invoice explaining how a zero course class is over $1500 when we are charged a set fee per credit our. I was sent in email 8 days before class stating I had to pay $1500.00 without any clear explanation and my class was cancelled because of this. I made several calls to ODM who does not respond or address the complaints in a timely manner, the research person [redacted] has not called one time to discuss the overall issues with the account and try to get these resolved. Her response is to send an email base don what the campus says without fully researching to get the full facts by also speaking with the student to get to the core of the issues. I am requesting a full breakdown of residency cost and an explanation with an invoice that shows how this cost was calculated as it seems like a cost made up by UOPX. I do not see this fee anywhere listed in my account summary or anywhere in my enrollment agreement.

I am in receipt of your additional balance dispute, received from the Revdex.com (Revdex.com), as of April 27, 2013.  According to our records, we previously responded to you concerning this information on May 24, 2011, March 23, 2015, and April 16, 2015.  This “new” request is...

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. The [redacted] never provided any original documents. An original return of funds to the the original lender. The original lender doesn't have the documentation of returned unused funds ([redacted]). [redacted] could not verify and had to be removed from all credit reporting agencies. The [redacted] have taken advantage of myself and many others. The [redacted] will continue to steal money from innocent people if the people higher up allow them too. I will not stop fighting their false claim of owing them. I will continue to write to public and private officials of the negative effect they have of people's lives.

Regards,

Thank you for providing our office with the opportunity to respond to this student's concerns.
As previously stated, we have mailed a response to Mr. [redacted].  In response to his recent comments, we have also forwarded this correspondence to him via email.

I do not accept response from the business, there was a credit of $1,800.00 on the account prior to returns. Even if the amount of returns exceeds $1,800.00 in credit the school can charge more than calculated days from last date of attendance. In may case would not exceed $875.64 per school policy, school cannot charge for an entire class when attendance was made during the course. Additional documentation will be provided.

RE: Revdex.com Complaint # [redacted]  Dear Ms. [redacted], Thank you for your follow-up message. As we are in receipt of the student’s completed FERPA release form, a copy of the response has been emailed to you today.  Best regards,

As clearly stated when I dropped out of those classes I wasn't enrolled no more then a few days, so now they are charging me the class amount. even though all money was returned, I am just not seeing the connection of me having to pay for courses when all the money from the loans was returned in an appropriate time, I did not spend a deal amount of time in these classes to warrant charges, this to me just seems like a way for this school to make money. So now I have to pay money that I do not have just to get my official transcripts for classes that I did not take. When I asked to please drop me from this school, the person I talked to at the time tried to convince me to stay, so I did and when I dropped out of the course to enter into another one no charges was placed for that class and now that I want to leave this school to go to a community college the want to charge me for those same classes.

Dear Ms. [redacted]:

We received notice of your inquiry on August 7, 2014, regarding your account with the University of Phoenix. I would like to respond to your inquiry and provide a copy of your official account history. I researched your account and found that you enrolled in...

September 2009 selecting Financial Aid as your primary payment option and Military/Government Billing as your secondary payment option.  Your financial aid application was certified with an academic year of May 30, 2011 through July 29, 2013, and a 15/9 credit split.  This means you were required to successfully complete 15 credits to earn the first disbursement and 24 credits to complete the academic year. You began the academic year with a credit balance of $2,775.00 in [redacted] grant funds carried over from April 2011. Your first disbursements of $2,239.00 in subsidized loan funds, $249.00 in unsubsidized loan funds, and $2,700.00 in [redacted] grant funds posted to your account in April 2012. Additionally, your payment of $5.00 posted to your account in September 2012. In September 2012 you financial aid award was reviewed and it was determined that you were awarded [redacted] grant in excess of your financial aid eligibility. As such, the disbursement for $2,700.00 in [redacted] grant funds from April 2012 was returned to the Department of Education in September 2012.You did not complete the first disbursement period requirements when you were placed on Academic Disqualification in February 2013 due to not maintaining a minimum of a 2.0 GPA. As such, you fell out of attendance for a period greater than allowable 29 days.  The University recorded your last date of attendance as January 27, 2013. The University was obligated to perform a Return of Title IV Funds calculation based on Federal Title IV guidelines.  The calculation is to determine the percentage of funds earned for the disbursement period, which is based on courses that were successfully completed and weeks of attendance.  Courses that are failed or courses which a student drops are not considered successfully completed courses. It was determined that you were eligible to retain the remaining funds from the first disbursement. While you were able to retain the funds disbursed, a shortfall existed on your student account. Tuition and fees for your enrollment and attendance during the academic year totaled $6,580.00. Additionally, the University sent you credit balance refunds totaling $2,138.00 between April and May 2012, in anticipation of your completion of the academic year requirements. When you did not complete the requirements you were no longer eligible to retain the funds. The shortfall and balance due on your account is $3,450.00, as itemized on the enclosed account history. The campus began contacting you in an effort to resolve the balance owed. However, the campus can hold accounts only for a limited time. As you did not remit payment for the balance owed, the campus submitted your account to collections on February 27, 2013, for further collection efforts. On September 11, 2013, the University charged off the balance as non-collectable. However, this action did not negate the balance owed. Upon reviewing your account we found funds from a previous academic year were applied to your account in error. However, funds were removed and the difference waived in August 2014 resolving the discrepancy. The campus maintains that all charges on your account are valid as attendance in class is voluntary and constitutes accepting the services provided and acceptance of the applicable fees.  You were provided with the academic and financial policies in the student catalog upon enrollment. You were also provided with information regarding the costs of tuition upon enrollment. You signed documents for your admissions to the University, which included acknowledgement of the hardware and software requirements for attendance, agreement with the policies provided and the financial obligations associated with enrollment in the University of Phoenix.  You may request copies of your enrollment documentation by writing to the University Registrar at the University of Phoenix, Mail Stop: [redacted]. Based on our thorough review of your account we determined the balance owed of $3,450.00 is valid and correct. Unfortunately we are unable to release copies of your transcripts until the balance is resolved. If you would like to resolve this balance now please make payment via your student website, or you may contact Gatestone at ###-###-#### to discuss your payment options. Once the balance is paid in full your account will be returned to the campus from collections and the credit bureaus will be notified to update their records to reflect a paid charge off. However, as the balance is valid, the information will remain on your credit report for the duration determined by the credit reporting agency. Finally, in order for our campus to remain in compliance with FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) regulations, the details of our review will not be forwarded to the Revdex.com without your written consent.  If you would like us to disclose the results of our review to the Revdex.com, please complete the attached FERPA Release Form and fax it to ###-###-####.  If you still have access to your student website, you can submit this form electronically as outlined in the following steps:

·         Login to eCampus:  [redacted]

·         Click on the Program tab

·         Under Services, click on Request FERPA Release and follow the instructions

Once received, a copy of this letter will be forwarded to the Revdex.com.  Please keep in mind that you may forward a copy of this letter to the Revdex.com to expedite their receipt as they are requesting this to further review this matter. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
