RE: Revdex.com Complaint #[redacted] Dear [redacted], We are in receipt of the student’s incomplete [redacted] Release form. As such, the University of Phoenix is unable to release the results of our findings or communications with the complainant at this time. If you need additional details that will enable you to close this issue, please contact the complainant.  Best regards,

This letter is in response to the complaint you filed with the Revdex.com (Revdex.com) received April 7, 2015 regarding your account with the University of Phoenix.  In response to your concerns, I would like to offer clarification on the status of your account and provide your official...

account history.I have researched your account and found your last day of attendance was October 24, 2010.  When you did not return to class, the University was obligated by federal Title IV guidelines to recalculate your loan.  The calculation is to determine the percentage of funds you earned for the disbursement period.  It was determined that the University was required to return $4,747.00 as it was considered unearned.  While the return reduced your responsibility to the lender, it unfortunately left a balance due on your student account in the amount of $775.00.The University can only hold an account for a limited amount of time and had to transfer your account to collections when payments were not received in a timely manner.  The University reserves the right to apply its standard procedures to collect the balance due on your account. After exhausting all avenues for collections, credit reporting is the final action applied to a student’s account. The University has confirmed the resolution of the outstanding balance.  We received the following payments:Date           Transaction                    Amount1/3/2013     ICS:03-JAN-13:1550632   ($100.00)2/4/2013     ICS:04-FEB-13:1566711   ($57.00)3/4/2013     ICS:04-MAR-13:1584535  ($57.00)4/2/2013     ICS:02-APR-13:1603384   ($58.00)5/3/2013     ICS:03-MAY-13:1620753   ($58.00)5/22/2013   ICS:22-MAY-13:1628687   ($58.00) Total:                                                     (388.00)As such, your account was settled in full.  Your credit report accurately reflects as a paid collection account.  Enclosed is an account history for your records. Records indicate you received educational services and support throughout your enrollment. Campus representatives serve to assist students by providing advisement and support in order for students to make informed decisions.  Based on our thorough review of your account, I have found your claims to be unsubstantiated.  As indicated in your grievance, you requested the removal of the derogatory information from your credit report.  Although we are empathic to your current situation, the University respectfully denies your request.  The account will continue to report to the credit reporting agencies in compliance with the appropriate credit laws.   In order for our campus to remain in compliance with FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) regulations, the details of our review will not be forwarded to the Revdex.com without your written consent.  If you would like us to disclose the results of our review to the Revdex.com, please complete the attached FERPA Release Form and fax it to ###-###-####.  If you still have access to your student website, you can submit this form electronically as outlined in the following steps: Login to eCampus:  https://ecampus.phoenix.edu/portal/portal/public/login.aspxClick on the Program tabUnder Services, click on Request FERPA Release and follow the instructions Once received, a copy of this letter will be forwarded to the Revdex.com.  Please keep in mind that you may forward a copy of this letter to the Revdex.com to expedite their receipt as they are requesting this to further review this matter. I hope you find this review informative regarding your account with the University. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. Sincerely,[redacted]Executive Account AnalystUniversity of Phoenix

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me.  I will wait until for the business to perform this action and, if it does, will consider this complaint resolved.

January 7, 2015Ms. [redacted] L [redacted]1059 W Dawn Dr, Tempe, AZ 85284, USRE: Student IRN:  [redacted] Dear Ms. [redacted]:We received notice on December 31, 2014 of your complaint filed with the Revdex.com concerning your account with the University of Phoenix Online.  In order for our campus to remain in compliance with [redacted]) regulations, the details of our review will not be forwarded to the Revdex.com without your written consent.  If you would like us to disclose the results of our review to the Revdex.com, please complete the attached [redacted] Release Form and fax it to ###-###-####.  If you still have access to your student website, you can submit this form electronically as outlined in the following steps:• Login to eCampus:  https://ecampus.phoenix.edu/portal/portal/public/login.aspx• Click on the Program tab• Under Services, click on Request [redacted] Release and follow the instructionsOnce received, a copy of this letter will be forwarded to the Revdex.com.  Please keep in mind that you may forward a copy of this letter to the Revdex.com to expedite their receipt as they are requesting this to further review this matter.According to our records, we previously responded to you concerning this information on October 29, 2014, and November 11, 2014, (copies enclosed).  While we find this “new” request to be duplicative in nature, we recognize the concerns you have addressed with regard to the Financial Aid amounts awarded to you, based off of the cost of your attendance in the Graduate Mediation Certificate (G-MDT) program. After completing a thorough review of your account, we would like to address the specific concerns outlined in your most recent inquiry.  The cost of attendance expressed in the award letter you received in November 2014 contained a typographical error. Unfortunately, while the data was corrected the same day, the system generated the award letter with the incorrect data. Your cost of attendance for the 12-credit graduate level certificate program was $15,606, rather than the listed amount of $75,606. You received discounted tuition and materials fees as a dependent of a University employee. Discounted tuition and fees are considered a benefit, which is then factored into the cost of attendance to determine actual loan eligibility. For your certificate program, your cost of attendance was based on $9,060.00 for the 12-credit program and $6,546.00 for the six-month loan period. This breaks down to $755 per credit hour and $1,091 per month in your loan period. When your spouse was no longer eligible to receive tuition benefits, you were charged the original tuition rate of $810.00 and $173.28 for the materials in the last course of your program. After discounted cost of tuition and electronic materials, you paid $2,742.03 for the full 12 credits. The cost of attendance at $15,606 was the maximum combined award you were eligible to receive for your program. From that, we are required to deduct benefits such as the tuition discounts of $5,275.00 during your certificate program, reducing your total loan eligibility to $10,331. The loan awards you received totaling $10,331.00; therefore, you were awarded your maximum eligibility for your 12-credit program. While we empathize with your concerns with the tuition increase, the University reduced your rate of tuition to the rate in effect at the time of your enrollment for your entire program. Please note, the University reserves the right to adjust tuition rates and fees periodically, and does so only after careful consideration. Mass communication was released to all students in July 2014 and research shows that the increased tuition rate was discussed via email on August 1, 2014, during a routine review of your account. You emailed your advisor to ensure that your tuition waiver and disbursements were on track. Your advisor reviewed further with the appropriate parties to ensure accuracy of the tuition rate stated as $2220 per course. As a courtesy, your tuition rate was reduced to $810.00 per course and you retained the eligibility for tuition discounts through the first three courses you completed. This means you paid $461.70 for tuition and $124.55 for electronic materials per course, which is a difference of $1807.03 or 75% per course. The breakdown is as follows:               Net disbursed funds         $10,223.00                 Less: total fees                $ 2,742.03                 Less: excess to you        $ 7,480.97                              Account balance:              $ -0.00-Ms. [redacted], after an exhaustive review we find that you have been awarded your maximum loan eligibility for the term of your program. You received discounted tuition both within the allowable amounts and/or courtesy adjustments offered to offset the tuition increase. Despite the typographical error on the November 2014 award letter, the data did not affect your loan eligibility. The cost of attendance (COA) is not reported to the Department of Education for each student loan; rather, the data is used to determine the maximum loan eligibility. We hope you find this information helpful in resolving your concerns. As we maintain your awards were consistent with your eligibility and your discounts were applied correctly, this will serve as our final response in this matter. Thank you,[redacted]Executive Account AnalystUniversity of Phoenix Onlinecc: student fileMs. Melba Rivera – Irizarry, Director of Finance – West Region

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me.  I will wait until for the business to perform this action and, if it does, will consider this complaint resolved.

If this complaint is posted to the Revdex.com site regarding University of Phoenix, please delete the names especially the name of the officer that was a friend that died. If necessary I can revise my complaint to not include names. Please let me know. Thank you for helping me so quickly. I would like them to refund me for the tuition I already paid because of the way I was treated. However, if that is not possible the progress you made by deleting my charges was really helpful and I cannot express enough my sincere gratitude.
