Ms [redacted] enrolled last January when the coding manual used in the United States was ICD-The government approved a change on October 1st to the ICD- There will be a transition period for many offices around the country switching to ICD-The coders who understand ICD-will be able to transition to ICD- because the process of coding is the same; it’s the codes themselves that primarily will be differentIn preparation for this change an ICD-supplement was provided with the coursework for students enrolled in ICD-The ICD-training was not available on January 5, when Ms [redacted] enrolled, the mandatory coding manual change did not happen until October 1, All students were sent an ICD-manual and instructors are available to assist students with questions on the supplementBecause of Ms***'s account status she was obligated to the full tuition and the school waived the balance due of $1,and no more payments were dueThe amount paid was accepted as her financial obligation for the administration of her school accountNo refund will be issuedWe wish Ms [redacted] the best of luck in her future endeavors.Thank you, Joyce L [redacted] Director of Student Services

The school does not require a student to sign up for a career program, it is a decision made by the studentThe school even offers a day review period to allow the student time to decide if the course is a good fit for them before they are obligated to the tuitionThe school made the decision to include an ICD-supplement to assist students enrolled in courses with coding before the government switch to the ICD-on October 1, The instruction team is available to help students thru the supplement on the coding changesThe school has graduates working from home who are willing to talk with our students about their experiencesMs [redacted] has not completed her studies, she has not completed the ICD-supplement nor has she worked with our graduate services department to meet her goals of working at homeIt has become apparent Ms [redacted] will not complete her studies so we have cancelled her course and waived the balance due of $Ms [redacted] completed out of lessons, and has received the training for billing; however, I am going to refund the amount paid and close out her school accountPlease allow up to days for a refund to process in the amount of $719.00.Thank you,Joyce L [redacted] Director of Student Services

If your goal is to work as a Professional Massage Therapist, you will want to check regulations in your areaCompleting the U.SCareer Institute hantraining prepares you for graduationThis training is conducted by our expert, credentialed Massage instructors at our Fort Collins, CO, facilityWhen our Admissions Support team followed up with a phone call to her on July 25, 2017, Ms [redacted] advised she had questions and was transferred to an Admissions representativeThe call ended with the Admissions representative sending an email to Ms [redacted] advising that our Massage Therapy course is designed to be completed in two parts since our course has a total of clock hours of education, of which are conducted through self-paced, online education and of which are completed in Fort Collins, CO at our facilityThe email explained further details of the course, including the tuition and payment breakdown, that students must check their state requirements to verify that our course will qualify them for occupational licensure, and that the hours of hantraining are conducted in our Fort Collins classroom over the course of four weeks so students sign up for a hantraining session after they complete their online educationThe email included a Course Outline, which is attached, as well as a breakdown of the clock hours for the academic and hantraining portions of the courseThe Course Outline has two boxes on Page that contain the following verbiage specifically addressing when a student will be eligible to receive a Letter of Academic Achievement or Certificate of Completion: · Certification/Licensing Massage therapists may need to be licensed to work, depending on their local regulationsMassage therapy licensing requirements vary state by state and USCI advises students to determine specific licensing requirements for the location in which they want to work before incurring the cost of traveling to Colorado for the HanTrainingIt is the student’s responsibility to determine whether or not training from U.SCareer Institute will transfer to other institutions, satisfy local training requirements or meet employer requirementsStudents taking this course for avocational reasons may not want to incur the cost of traveling for the HanTrainingStudents who complete the academic, home study portion of this course (as described in this outline) receive the U.SCareer Institute Letter of Academic AchievementThis letter signifies eligibility to proceed to the HanTraining portion of the courseStudents who graduate from the HanTraining portion of the course Enrollment Agreement on August 2, 2017, she agreed to the terms outlined on the Enrollment Agreement and in the school catalog, available to students on the school websiteThe catalog mentions and directs students to details pertaining to the Massage Therapy course’s academic portion, hantraining portion, Letter of Academic Achievement eligibility and Certificate of Completion eligibility on pages 4, and Following is the excerpt from page and the excerpt from page 47: · The Massage Therapy Course integrates theory and hantraining, providing students with the skills necessary to effectively assess clients’ needs, prepare therapeutic treatment plans and apply appropriate massage techniquesBeginning with instruction in anatomy and physiology, students build on this foundation of knowledge by learning contraindications to massage and principles of assessmentStudents then learn massage theory for common massage modalities and begin practicing their massage skillsThe course culminates in Colorado on-site, hantraining in which students master their massage skills under the supervision of certified massage therapy instructors The student’s tuition includes all lessons and other instructional materials listed on the Course OutlineStudents are invited to attend hours of on-site training by credentialed Colorado massage therapy instructors upon completion of the academic to receive an “academic achievement certificate” so she could attend hatraining in her state and cityGraduate Services responded to Ms [redacted] on September 21, clarifying that graduates must attend our hantraining in Fort Collins to earn their Certificate of Completion and sent a Letter of Academic Achievement by mail to Ms [redacted] to recognize her completion of the clock hour academic portion of the courseGraduate Services also encouraged Ms [redacted] to contact her state board to check licensing requirements and provided contact information for the [redacted] State BoardUSCI regrets to hear Ms [redacted] feels she was not aware of the requirement to attend the clock hour hantraining session in Fort Collins, CO, as we do not feel we are falsely advertising our servicesU.SCareer Institute is upfront about the details of the Massage Therapy course and provides information regarding our Massage Therapy course’s academic portion, hantraining portion, Letter of Academic Achievement eligibility and Certificate of Completion eligibility in numerous places so students or prospective students understand our policies and requirementsMs [redacted] completed the academic portion of the course, chose not to attend our HanTraining portion, and was issued a Letter of Academic Achievement based on our policy; therefore, Ms [redacted] is not eligible for a refundWe wish Ms [redacted] the best in her future endeavors

Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because: It is not acceptableI have enrolled and am currently seeking an associates degree for medical billing and codingAs stated in the response, you need years experience and tour course only counts as yearEvery employer I have spoke with in my area does not offer experienceThey will only hire you with the years experienceAlso as the response stated, I am current on my payments and have not missed paymentsI am seeking a refund since no employer will hire me without the years experience and this course counts as one year experienceIf I would have seen the multiple complaints from all the students saying the very same complaint I have, I would have seeked other schooling options Regards, [redacted]

Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because:I believe I am entitled to a full refund due to advertisingI also am disputing the claims that there are no records of my speaking to Graduate ServicesI have attached e-mails showing that I spoke to Ana from Graduate ServicesThe 1st step that I was advised to take was to contact medical offices in my area and ask if they had any job openings for a medical billing specialistI contacted over different offices that after completing courses and that I would not be able to obtain employment with that certificateThey all stated they require years experienceThis will also not enable me to work from homeThey made statements about being able to work from home and they also advertise falselyI want a full refundI have paid $in total for this programAfter deducting the $return - I am owed $I am still determined to get resolution for this and am prepared to get legal help to take this to small claims court Regards, [redacted]

Ms [redacted] enrolled in the Coding and Billing Program on 10/12/She made one payment towards her tuition and the other two payment attempts declinedMs [redacted] did not enroll in the Success Promise ProgramEnrollment in the Success Promise program is optional, where students must have paid 50% of their tuition, completed their studies within one year and maintained an 85% GPAIf a graduate meets the criteria, they are eligible to participate in the Success Promise programThe program guidelines are listed on the student websiteMs [redacted] did not meet any of the of the Success Promise requirements and is not eligible for a refundMs [redacted] completed 100% of her course and is obligated to 100% of her tuition according to her school catalog and enrollment agreementHowever, after researching her school account and review of this complaint, I am going to waive the balance due on her account of $2244.00, cancel the account as of February 11th, and no more payments are due.We wish Ms [redacted] the best of luck in her future endeavors.Thank you,Joyce [redacted] , Director of Student Services

[redacted] Hello,This is a message in regard to my complaint against Weston Distance Learning LLCI spoke to Nancy Hampson via Email and she's the Dean of Faculty thereShe told me I would have to make no further payments toward educational costs because of my dissatisfaction with the program and the services promised to me that have never been receivedUnfortunately, I do not feel that this is an adequate resolution to my concerns and I would like a full refund of the $paid to the institution because I am not certified by them and I do not intend on using their certification for employmentI need an actual certificate to say that I completed coursework their and Nancy or Ann R [redacted] will not send a certificate to meI feel that if they don't send the certification, I deserve a full refund and to go on as if that course was never taken Respectfully, [redacted] ***
