Thank you for the opportunity to respond to Ms***’s complaintMs***’s enrollment call and correspondence with USCI have been thoroughly reviewedOn March 2, 2016, Ms*** contacted our Admissions Department and advised her Admissions representative that she had been reviewing the
course online and wanted to enrollThe school site Ms*** referenced and the Admissions representative did not portray the course as a Certified Medical Assistant course, but rather as a Medical Assistant courseBoth also did not mention the AAMAMs*** questioned if continuing education would be available as things change in the fieldHer Admissions representative advised her that we keep our curriculum as up to date as possible and in regards to continuing education after our course, the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) offers certification options for our studentsMs*** shared that she was working at a hospital and questioned whether she would be able to work as a certified Medical AssistantHer Admissions representative advised that she could because she would be eligible to take the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) exam or the Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) exam through the NHAThroughout correspondence by phone and email between Ms*** and Student Services on March 21, 2016, April 5, 2016, August 5, and August 19, 2016, Ms*** was advised consistently that she may choose to become certified through the NHA by taking the CCMA or CMAA examsWhen she questioned being eligible to take the AAMA exam on August 5, 2016, she was advised that she would not be eligible since we are not a CAAHEP or ABHES approved schoolAlthough we are accredited by the Distance Education Accrediting Commission, which is listed by the U.SDepartment of Education as a recognized accrediting agency, the AAMA currently requires candidates complete a medical assisting program accredited by the CAAHEP or ABHESMs*** was advised that our students are eligible to take the CCMA or CMAA exams through the NHA during this conversation, and given the same information again when she called on August 19, At no point prior to enrollment or her call on August 5, did Ms*** mention that her goal was to become CMA certified through the AAMAU.SCareer Institute representatives and the course materials provided clear information regarding what certification exams Ms*** would be eligible to take after completing the course throughout her enrollmentMs***’s account had been referred to an outside collection agency because she has not made a payment since July of In an effort to work with Ms*** so she may finish her last assignment and be eligible to sit for exams through the NHA, we have deferred the current past-due balance of $to the end of her billing cycle, making the next $payment due September 28, With the account now current, it will be removed from collections and we encourage Ms*** to complete her last assignment and maintain her tuition agreementOnce she’s completed the course, our Graduate Services department will be an excellent resource to assist Ms*** in pursuing positions that this course and an NHA certification qualify her for
