Valet Movers Reviews (114)

This was my first time using a moving company and I was overwhelmed by all the companies wanting my businessI chose Valet Movers based on their consistently positive reviewsThey were easy to schedule with and the movers at both pick up and delivery were friendly and courteous, very hard working, and careful with my belongingsThey did a good job and I would use them again

This company move my entire house from Del Mar to Monte Soledad very carefully ! It was fast, without concern!! I totally recommend Valet Movers for anyone who needs movethanks!!

WARNING do not useTHEFT by contractorsNo office just a PO box, They do not own their own trucksThey hire outside contractors to drive First, when your crew came to load us onto the moving truck, they ended up putting items on their truck that were against a wall in our home that I showed the head guy that these were all items NOT to put on the rented truck, that we were taking them ourselves - because these were valuable and precious to usThese consisted of: boxes of liquor, including an extremely expensive box of Louis XIII cognacAlso it's strange that large boxes of valuable electronics never made it3/of the way through your crew's loading our items, we realized our boxes of expensive liquor, which we indicated WE would take with us, in our car, were gone - supposedly "already on the truck" and too small and too late to find them to take off truckWe even said you are not able by law to take liquor on the truckThey just winked and shrugged The head guy said too that they had already put them the truck already and couldn't be taken off, it was too difficultAt that point we had no choice but to trust your crew that they would arrive to us safely Which they didn'tThose liquor boxes never made it to our new homeBear in mind, to repeat, we designated those liquor boxes to NOT go on the rented moving truck - but your employees said they put them on there And now they are nowhere to be foundThey were not even listed on the pickup orderWhen we demanded an answer they just said just sign, we have to go, this is my FIRST time we are both working for Valet and have never filled in the agreements beforeWhen we acquired counsel, they stated that the filled in agreements were illegible Secondly, at the end of loading up their truck, the head moving guy said we had something like EXTRA boxes more than what my wife and I hadn't accounted for! We were astounded and confused, plus the writing on his paperwork listing all items was pretty much illegible so one couldn't coordinate what he with what he was telling us about all of these "extra boxes" At that point, the head Valet mover guy admitted he was "new" and had just started and wasn't sure how "this all works" Unbelievable Even the different unloading/mover guys (contractors, not employees) that actually delivered the items to us, and unloaded them, couldn't make any sense of the packing list that Valet Movers' guy wroteThey also literally said it was the worst inventory move list they had EVER seen as it was mostly illegible We called Valet as soon as we began a thorough unpacking, noting what was missing and have been calling Valet weekly EVER since, only to be told "we are still looking" and when they find them they would callA employee Ria, stated that if we wanted to come to San Diego to check the warehouse ourselves, she would schedule itI went only to find a PO BoxI even left messages Joe, (owner) to please call me regarding this matter -- and NEVER even got a phone call from you Rachel has never returned calls again after our initial calls It is very apparent that if these items went to the wrong client, they would have been reported At this point we see this situation as a theft, especially the liquor boxes -- which are extremely valuable and were only in their liquor "gift box" not packed in a moving box

Dear Revdex.com, I was responding to this complaint regarding our customer The way that we give an estimate to a customer is based on the item list that customer provides Based on that we take the item list and enter it into the computer to give the customer their estimate When the foreman showed up on the day of the move the customer had additional boxes compared to the list that we confirmed with the customer over the phone Based on these additional items, the foreman gave the new quote to the customer, which is a binding quote Customer complained that for some reason the driver said there was less space on the truck than the space that we charged him for The way that we work, we do not charge for space, we charged only based on the item list Even if the customer took up more space on the truck, the quote would still stay the same because it was a binding estimate based on the item list We will try to contact customer and resolve the misunderstanding Please let us know if you need any kind of information from us regarding this issue Thank You, Valet Movers

Dear Revdex.com,Thank you for making Valet Movers aware of the issue at hand We are going to send the customer $to replace his vacuum and step-stool and he will need to contact our claims department for the damaged leg on his table Thank you for your assistance

In short, Ms [redacted] did not inform us that she had more items that she was taking other than what was already reflected on her estimate This contributed to the additional charges As far as the $100.00, we were under the impression that we had rectified the issue when we refunded the money to Ms [redacted] The long carry at delivery can happen at any time that the driver cannot park their tractor trailer close to a customer’s residence Unless a customer knows for certain that a truck of that size cannot safely park near their residence, Valet Movers has no way to predict that long carry charges will be incurred Delivery dates are based on the customers first available date of delivery In this case Ms [redacted] ’ was on January 6th We tell our customers that it could be anywhere from – business days from that date for delivery, but that on rare occasions it can take up to business days, depending on the availability of a truck We were well within the 10-days as we delivered Ms [redacted] ’ belongings on January 13th We have sent her claim to Anthem Claim Management And they will be contacting her for further information We are sorry if Ms [redacted] felt like she was being treated poorly We will speak with all employees that have been in contact with Ms [redacted] , so that in the future these types of issues do not happen again Attached is a copy of Ms [redacted] ’ Moving Estimate where she initialed that she understood that there could potentially be additional charges at delivery as well as the out of state delivery time frame

Mr***, We want to apologize for the fact that you are dissatisfied with our serviceDue to the high volume of customers we move in the summer months, we are sometimes unable to send out items as quickly as some of our customers would likeHowever, we prepare our customers for this scenario by including the possible time frame in our contract, business daysWe also confirm the customer's understanding of this time frame over the phone the day before we pick up the customer's items In some unforeseen instances, delivery can be pushed back beyond the business day time frame and we refund the customer for every business day that delivery is lateIt seems the confusion in your particular case stems from the understanding of what we are referring to as a business dayOur contract refers to a business day in the legal sense or the general explanation of a business day which includes Monday through FridayYou mentioned being told that our office is open on weekendsThis is true only for the purpose of customer service questions or issues that we can address from the officeHowever, regardless of this fact, the same definition of a business day appliesThis would work the same way if we were to, for example, close our office entirely for a full weekIf we did, Monday through Friday of that week would still be counted as business daysThis does not change whether we are open or not Therefore, our offer of a $refund covers the length of business daysIf your items were delivered on Saturday, June 6th, your delivery was late by business daysWe hope this clarifies the situation for you a bit more Thank you, Valet Movers

Dear Revdex.com, Thank you for getting to Valet Movers on this matter We will work with the customer to resolve this matter We were waiting for the claims process to be done but have not heard anything back from them yet Valet Movers will contact the claims department to see why the signed release form has not been sent to the company yet Valet Movers will contact the customer via email or phone and get this issue taken care of Thank you and kind regards, Valet Movers

RevDex.com: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. This is in regard to the preposterous response that Valet Movers sent to the RevDex.com regarding my complaint. It would be a gross understatement to say the Valet Movers is obfuscating realty in their outlandish reply. For example, they begin with a befuddled claim that they charge solely on the basis of an estimated item list and seem particularly concerned with the number of boxes that are shipped. My complaint concerns the fact that I was grossly overcharged based on the actual cubic footage of my household, which they fraudulently inflated for their benefit. Indeed, Valet Mover’s INTIAL estimate was greater than what I actually had and they further increased it by a very significant amount after they had loaded everything in their truck. It cannot be contested that Valet Movers lied to the BBB in their statement that, “The way that we work, we do not charge for space, we charged only based on the item list.” This is an egregious lie based on their own documentation. At the time of their initial estimate, they asked how many boxes I had. I did not know an exact number as others had packed the storage unit in which my belongings had been placed and I told them the approximate size of how much space was used. They insisted upon a box count instead and based their (obviously bogus) estimate on how many boxes they thought I had and then calculated an inflated size for those boxes based on what they thought were in storage. What is most important to note, however, is they are clearly hiding their deceitful practices by changing the unit of measure that is used as the basis of their charges. It cannot be contested that cubic feet (volume), NOT number of boxes, is the unit of measure to charge their customers - to claim otherwise is simply nonsense. As noted in their initial “estimate,” their estimated volume of my goods was 1000 cubic feet. That “estimate” (attached to this response) very clearly notes that I was to be charge $4.25 per CUBIC FOOT. Given that the delivery driver was absolutely certain that I only had 825 cubic feet, even Valet Mover’s INITIAL “estimate” was inflated. As also noted on Valet Mover’s initial estimate (again, see attached), “The estimate above is a binding estimate based on the item list that you provided. Any additional items will/may result in additional cost. Additional CUBIC FEET [emphasis added] will be charged at the same rate.” Valet Mover’s is obviously lying to the BBB. At the time the movers showed up to load up the truck from my storage unit, they loaded up all of my belongings and then told me that I had an astounding 1,400 cubic feet – based on their new “estimate.” Furthermore, they required that I go to the bank, obtain a cashier’s check, and pay the difference for the additional cubic feet (NOT number of boxes) before they would move their now-loaded truck. I can provide additional documentation regarding this fact. Given that I had significantly LESS than the ORIGINAL estimate, let alone their new obscenely over-inflated estimate, it is plainly evident the Valet Movers intentionally engages in fraud. Finally, I can’t help but note their disingenuous claim that they “will try to contact customer and resolve the misunderstanding.” I have been trying, since August, to get a response from them with no success. Six full days have now passed since I was notified that Valet Movers had responded (after one failed attempt) to the BBB and I have received absolutely NO COMMUNICATION, of any kind from them. I again demand to be reimbursed $2443.75 for their deplorable and unethical business practices. Regards, [redacted] ***
