Valorebooks Reviews (%countItem)

I rented a book for $42. The company contacted me through email regarding the rental period ending. I could not find a phone number on the website so I made a ticket and asked for a phone number but through several messages back and forth I was never given one. I made a ticket and messsged them 3tines on 10/3/3017, 4times on 10/4/2017, 10/5/3017, 10/6/2017, 10/28/3017, 10/29/2017. On 10/3/3017 they sent an email stating they would be debiting my account for $9.11 to extend my rental. I told them not to do that because I don’t have the money right now. They debited the account anyway and said that it’s part of the rental agreement that If I do not pay for an extension then they will just debit my account. I told them I never saw no such information when I rented the book and I was charged s $29 overdraft fee. I also told them that if you think I have an agreement for you to debit my account then I revoke that agreement. I revoke your right to debit my account. They responded by telling me to purchase the book for $69.00 , I told them I would when I have money in my account. They then debited my account on 10/27/3027 for $69.00 which caused another $29overdraft fee.

I filed a disputed with the bank and the bank gave me the companies phone number and acted like I hadn’t contacted the company. I can send you copies of all of the above mentioned conversations.

Valorebooks Response

Hi ***, we apologize for any confusion, but you never returned the book that you rented from us last May and were charged a late fee and eventually the full replacement cost of the item. You authorized us to debit your account in this situation per the underlying rental agreement, which you cannot unilaterally revoke. You were charged a late fee of $9.11 on 10/3 (which is deducted from the total replacement cost of the item), and the remainder of the replacement cost on 10/28. If you please review the attached correspondence we clearly explained the timeline and process to you. We're very sorry that you were charged an overdraft fee by your bank, but it is was your responsibility to return the item at the end of the rental period or else cover the cost of the replacement. If you can provide tracking showing that you returned your item to the correct location we are happy to review it, but unfortunately we cannot refund the fees that were charged at this time, we apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause. Thanks, Valorebooks Customer Support Team

[The agreement said that I could extend rental or buy book. It did not say that you would randomly debit my account even after I repeatedly told you not to debit my account. I told you I would be keeping the book because the class runs through December and would have to make a payment at a later date.]

I sold about 50 books to valore in April worth over $1500.00. I have not herd back from them in over a month. I have the order numbers for which they have not paid. They have, in no lighter words, stolen from a college student. I asked for my books back on countless occasions OR asked to be paid. I would either not receive a response or be told they will escalate my claim to someone else (which I never heard back from) or just ignoring my emails. I would like my books back or for them to pay me for my books which were around $34.00 EACH at the time. Here are the order numbers. ***.

Thank you Revdex.com

Valorebooks Response

Hi ***, looking at your order history you have placed thousands of orders with us over the past several years using at least 30 different names, and at least 15 different email addresses. Additionally, it appears that you are associated with *** Books, a corporation registered in Minnesota, and apparently engaged in the resale of used textbooks. This is a violation of our policies, please see here: ***-. We have repeatedly asked that you create a merchant liquidation account if you wish to run arbitrage through our marketplace.

Furthermore, you have sent us a number of textbooks that have been flagged as potentially counterfeit and were forwarded to the relevant publishers, who confirmed that the items violated their copyrights. Please note our policy on suspected counterfeits here: ***-.

We are making a one-time exception for the items you referenced, 31 copies of ISBN *** to be returned to you at your *** address, per USPS tracking *** and ***. These items should arrive in the next 10 to 15 business days. Please note that we are not willing to allow any other exceptions for your orders. If you continue to send in items that appear to be counterfeit, or violate any of our other marketplace policies, you may be permanently banned from our marketplace.

I will not be satisfied until I have all copies of my books in hand and in the condition I sent them in. I have never sent in a counter-fit copy and that is a lame excuse to throw out there when you blatantly stole. The tracking numbers show they haven't shipped. Another failing company.

I sent my books in to be bought back by Valorebooks. I sent in 3 books to them with a buy back quote for $128.65. The books I sent to them were Writing Clearly 3rd Edition that was not bought back by them for $21.70, *** 4th Edition that was bought back for $21.25 and the other book was *** of *** 8th Edition that they stated they could not buy back due to no reason given to me and that quote for this book was $85.70. I received an email 9/30/17 stating that the two books I mentioned they could not buy back, I sent them a request stating I wanted those two books back as I had other buyers locally that wanted them. I sent that to them on 9/30/17 that I wanted those books sent back to me, I received a reply back stating that I should receive those books back within 30 days unless I am contacted by a representative informing me otherwise which I wasn't. I sent another message on Oct 10th stating again to please send those books back and received the same message about the 30days. Today is 10/26/17 and have yet to receive back the book *** of *** 8th Edition. I sent another message 10/26/17 asking why I have not received back this book as it has almost been 30 days. This is the response I get back today as I have not received ANY response back regarding *** of *** that there were further issues with my textbook. "*** of *** (8th Edition)" is currently under review as it exhibited characteristics that indicate that it may be counterfeit. The book is being sent to the publisher to be examined. This process can take 1 - 3 months. If the book is confirmed to be authentic, it will be paid the price it was quoted. If the book is confirmed to be counterfeit, the book will stay with the publisher and the matter will be out of our hands. We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause. I was NEVER informed or nor received ANY emails regarding the book being under review or being a counterfeit until today. I am completely and totally *** regarding this buy back. It's bad enough that students have to pay high prices for college textbooks but it's highway robbery when you go to sell them back to have to deal with this kind of crap. DO NOT SELL YOUR BOOKS BACK TO VALOREBOOKS, they have poor customer services and all you get is the run around. The book I sent to them was in next NEW condition with NO highlighting or NO writing in it. They are just using the whole counterfeit as way to prolong my request of returning it to me.

Valorebooks Response

Hi ***, our apologies for any miscommunication about your sellback item, "*** of ***." Unfortunately it was determined to exhibit characteristics that indicated it was a counterfeit copy and we sent if to the relevant publisher for inspection per our policies. In consideration of the confusion, we are happy to issue a one time payment for this item ($85.70) to the address we have on file (***). Please allow 7 to 10 business days to receive your payment via standard *** media mail. Please also note that if you sent in any other items that are determined to be counterfeit they will be confiscated and sent to the publisher for inspection, and we will not be able to issue any payments for those items. For more information you can read our counterfeit policy here: ***-. Thanks, Valorebooks Customer Support Team

Valorebooks is absolutely 100% a SCAM! My daughter supposedly purchased a gently used book for a college course: *** for $40.00. I used my ***/Debit card for purchase. Received order # and then today I receive an email stating order was cancelled, BUT that they did not process payment if it did process would take 3-5 days to return to account. Well..they didn't process $40.00 they took $200.00!! I had to cancel card which is through my bank and yes they will prosecute VALOREBOOKS FOR THEIR FRAUDULENT ACTIVITY! am from a small town in *** and I bank with a federal credit union!! DO NOT TRUST THEM UNLESS YOU WANT ROBBED!!

Valorebooks Response

Hi *** we reached out to you via email but have yet to hear a response. We do see that you placed an order with us on 10/24, but the order was cancelled and the pending authorization of $40.05 was removed from your account on 10/25. We do not see that any other charges or authorizations were made to your account by us, but are happy to investigate further if you can provide more information. Thanks, Valorebooks Customer Support Team

I sold back a textbook titled “*** : Science and Applications, Fourth Edition Binder Ready Version” for $53.61 via *** mail. I made sure the pages were all intact and perfect condition prior to sealing in packaging to ship. However, 10/2/2017 I received an email stating my order was not approved because pages were destroyed. Meanwhile, I find this hard to believe because the pages were not this way prior to shipping. So, I sent a customer service request to have my textbook shipped back to me (to once again check the condition). Mind you, this textbook was purchased less than two months ago and never used because I dropped the course. My ticket was reviewed and closed with no further response on what were the next steps in receiving my text back or being refunded. I decided to contact Revdex.com to have my situation resolved without being ignored.

Valorebooks Response

Please allow 7 to 10 business days to receive payment via standard *** media mail. Our apologies again for the inconvenience that you experienced with your order, and please feel free to contact us directly if you have any other questions. Thanks, Valorebooks Customer Support Team

Scam artist. They will take your money if you sell to them and claim your books were no good. You will not see a cent or your books back. The books they sell are also in very bad shape here even when described as "new"

I sent a book on 8/29/17. It took well over 2 weeks for them to receive the books with their very slow fedex shipping method.
9/16/17 They receive the books. 9/18/17 I check and lo and behold they have inspected my BRAND NEW books and deemed them "water damaged" These were brand new books I had not even opened and packaged very well with paid shipping box (by me)
The company refuses to pay me $160 worth of merchandise OR return my books in the condition they were sent.
This company has also ignored all messages on *** and Email contact!
They are scammers and I wish I had read all of the complaints on the Revdex.com before trusting them with hundreds of dollars in merchandise. Just to pretend all is well they quoted me $42 for the cheapest book I sold and kept my other 3 books.

Valorebooks Response

Hi ***, our sincere apologies that your sellback items were rejected for water damage, please note that a quote is not a guarantee that the books will be accepted. We see that you first contacted us at 7:30 PM last night with your request to have them returned. Per our standard policies, we have sent a request to have the three items returned immediately at no cost to you. You should expect to receive them back to the address you provided at checkout (***) within the next 30 days. Please feel free to contact us directly if you have any other questions. I initially purchased a textbook for a speech class I had during last spring thru Valore. I had sent my speech book back to Valore as they had this thing called a sellback option.. Your supposed to get some funds back for the book. After I sent it.. I received an email that said the book was damaged and they would not be able to give me funds but said if I wanted the book back to contact them. This right off the bat was a lie because the book was in the exact same condition that I purchased it from them in when I sent it back. I sent an email and said, Please give me my book back then if your not going to issue funds back. I received an email with shipping confirmation saying I should receive the book back within 4 weeks. Then 4 weeks goes by and I don’t hear anything. I sent an email to ask what was happening and I get an email back saying the issue is closed and I can contact them via phone. I was very upset because they would not answer where the book was or provide any information, so I call up the number and asked where my book was. The lady on there sais she doesn’t know but will investigate and contact me back. I said I wanted to lodge a complaint over the poor service I received and she took down my info. Next thing you know, today I get an email from someone claiming to be them saying the book has been sent back to the publisher and that it could be counterfeit ..!! This is totally absurd... I’m sure they have just stolen the book back and sold it to someone else. I was not informed of ANY of this until now which proves the fact that the initial statement of the book not being in condition for sellback was a lie to begin with... I’m flabbergasted they can just get away with this.. I replied to this email and told them that it was absolutely outrageous. I told them I will refuse to purchase any more books from them unless I am at least issued a partial credit for the hassle this book has become..
What a nightmare!! I won’t be buying any more text books thru them!!

Valorebooks Response

Hi ***, our apologies for any inconvenience with your recent sellback order. We do see that you purchased "***" (ISBN ***) through our marketplace back in January, but that is a different item than the one you attempted to sell us in June. You sent in "***" (ISBN ***). Unfortunately the item you sent did exhibit characteristics that indicated that it might be a counterfeit edition, and we forwarded it to the relevant publisher for further inspection. Normally this would be a one to three month process while the publisher investigates the item in question. However, in light of the conflicting information you received, we are happy to issue the originally quoted amount for this item ($31.47) to the mailing address we have on file (***.). Your check should arrive in 7 to 10 business days via standard mail. Our sincerest apologies again for the confusion, please feel free to contact us directly if you have any other questions. Revdex.com: Ok, After reviewing the response, it appears there is blame to place on both sides of the transaction. I made a mistake, thinking the item sold to me from valore was the actual book when in fact it was the access card tied in with the book (I forgot about even buying that until I read that response). Just for information, this was a complete error on my part and I had no intention of trying to make money off the book in returning it as a sell back for the card. In fact, I would have made more money if I just put it on ***. I apologize to valore for this mistake on my part. In light of that mistake, I still feel valore was in error in not informing me that I had made this mistake and sent the book back for a transaction for a card and then turning around and sending my book into the publisher unbeknown to me. IF the book was a counterfiet I had no knowledge of this fact, and I never created it as I had only taken a speech class and purchased the book online for it (Now I can't remember from where since it wasn't valore). I'm way to busy in my life to sit around being a part time book binder and I actually found the information in the book usefull so I would rather have it back. I would accept the refund for the card amount as a way to make amends for the cost of the lost book.

I have reviewed the response submitted by the business and have determined that the response does satisfy my issues and/or concerns in reference to complaint #***. I understand that by choosing to accept the business response that my complaint will be closed as resolved.

Terrible customer service.
Daughter order a book before school started. First day of school professor had changed the book. contacted valore immediately (on day 31) and was told they would not accept return because it was past 30 days. After another email they agreed to accept the return but charged a 20% restocking fee.
This was a book that had not been touched except to take out of original shipping package. I feel this was unreasonable since we contacted them immediately (first day of class) and book was in exact condition as we received it!

Valorebooks Response

Hi ***, thanks for contacting us about this, our sincere apologies for the inconvenience you experienced with your order! Per our discussion earlier today, we have issued a full refund back to the card used to make the purchase. Please let us know if you have any other questions. Thanks, Valorebooks Customer Support Team

They issued a check (Check number ***) for Sellback Order: *** in the amount of $85.40.

The check must have bounced, because the bank reversed the deposit and charged us a fee for it.

Valorebooks Response

Hi ***, thanks for alerting us to this issue. We have spoken with our respective banks and apparently you attempted to cash the check twice. You cashed it the first time on 7/7/17 via mobile app, and again on 8/4/17 in person at your bank. Your 8/4/17 deposit attempt failed because the check had already cleared. We apologize for any confusion, but you can only cash a check once. Please let us know if you have any other questions. Thanks, Valorebooks Customer Support Team
