Watch Repairs USA Reviews (204)

Customer agreed to have his watch sent to the factory for repair. The watch was sent to the factory free of charge but due to the special nature of the repair, it has taken longer than expected. We have spoken to the customer and are having the watch returned,...

unrepaired with a full refund to the customer.

Review: I sent my watch to Watch Repair USA about 3 months ago for repairs. They sent me and email saying that they had received the watch and gave me a repair number #[redacted]. They sent me another email about two weeks later saying that they could not fix the problem and they would have to send it directly to the Invitics watch company. The email said it would take about for weeks. It has been at least 6 weeks and I haven't heard anything. So I called the Watch Repair USA on ** July 2014 the would be the [redacted] for the states. I'm living in Japan. The lady answer the from told me she would email me as soon as she heard something. I never received and email. The watch is valued at $500.00Desired Settlement: I want my watch repaired and returned. If you can't fix it just send me my watch back.

Response:

An estimate was emailed to the customer the moment it was received from us by the factory. It can be found here: [redacted]

Review: Account # [redacted]. I sent my [redacted] watch to this company requesting the movement be cleaned and oiled and the crystal be replaced and new seals. They advised me that addition work was also required and refused to do only what I requested. I asked that the watch be returned to me in the state it was sent. I was charged $68 for shipping and the watch was returned with a damaged stem and crown that no longer functioned as it did prior to being sent to Watch Repair USA. I spoke to company manager [redacted] who advised they would fix the stem. Having no faith in the quality of their work I brought it to an official [redacted] Boutique in [redacted] for evaluation. The onsite technician advised the rear of the watch was removed with an improper tool resulting in scratches to the case. He stated the stem was missing a retaining clip and seal and the crown was not threaded so it could not be tightened to make a water tight seal. He believe it was not the crown belonging to the watch. [redacted] offered to all the work I request of Watch Repairs USA, as well as additional repairs for half the estimate provided by Watch Repairs. They will do the work.

I advised Watch Repairs that I wanted the shipping charges of $68 and the [redacted] charges for the stem and crown to be refunded to me.. [redacted] advisesd in an email that I had to prove they did the damage. The only proof I can offer is my word. His final word was they didn't do anything wrong and if I want to pursue it have my lawyer contact them or I should"take a hike".Desired Settlement: Refund $68'shipping and [redacted] price for stem and crown replacement to be determined.

Business

Response:

I am attaching a picture of the watch which shows the condition of it when it was first processed into our system. The customer is stating that we caused scratches to the back of the watch. This is an old, beat up, worn timepiece. To say that we caused any sort of damage is downright nonsensical. This is wear and tear, or previous poor repair attempts. We did not touch the watch during our evaluation process.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

Review: Last January (2013) I sent my $11k Wyler watch to WatchRepairsUSA to get a broken crown repaired. I was shocked when the estimate came back at over $1,500 which was much higher than I was told up front. After several back and back emails I reluctantly decided to approve the repair--[redacted], the [redacted], agreed to reduce the overhaul estimate by $100. I received the watch back approximately a month after I sent them payment.

Shortly after I received the watch back, I noticed that it was not keeping time, so I eventually sent it back under their warranty problem. They seemed very willing to try to correct the problem. They called after 2 weeks to say the watch was keeping correct time on the winder, but would continue to check it some more. After 2 months they sent me my watch back saying that it was fixed and keeping time.

When I got the watch back, I noticed that crown cover hinge pin was missing and that the cover could just come off with a little pressure. I contacted [redacted] advising him of this and he said that I could probably get the crown cover hinge repaired locally for a nominal charge. I explored this option and discovered that this was not possible with any local jewelers. I then contacted [redacted] stated that I needed him to make this repair and also advised him that the watch was still not keeping time correctly. We agreed that I should return it under warranty to get it repairs.

I sent the watch back for repair in January of this year and was initially told a month later that the repair would be done in 2 weeks. After another month, I again emailed [redacted] about the status and was told the repair was more difficult than anticipated and that it would take some additional weeks. In early May I emailed my new mailing address and again asked for assurance that the watch would be completed soon and was told that "the watchmaker was deep in the repair and it would be completed in the next few weeks.

In late May I again emailed [redacted] to check on status, and was shocked with the new tone in [redacted]'s reply saying now that the watch had apparently been abused and that they were trying to correct additional problems unrelated to the initial repair. When I got this reply, I became upset and wrote back saying that the watch had never been abused by me (during the few monthsI actually had it) and that I reality hoped they would complete the repair as promised without me having to involve third parties or contact the New York Attorney General's office for assistance to get it resolved. [redacted]'s response was simple--threats won't get the watch repaired. I responded that I just wanted my watch repaired and returned in a reasonable timeframe.

I still hope I will heart back from [redacted] that they will repair and and return my watch but so far I have not anything back from [redacted], and feel I may have no recourse but to pursue other avenues such as above to get my watch repaired and returned.

Finally got my watch back though it was sent to the wrong address despite advising them twice of our address change. Unfortunately, despite having the watch for months, they did not fix crown cover so it did not come off nor did they fix the watch so that it keeps time accurately. I have asked for a refund and they have refused and said my only recourse would be to send the watch back again which I will not do.Desired Settlement: I want a refund of the money I paid them.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

I returned the watch twice to get repaired properly but they could not repair the watch despite having it for months. They broke the watch crown cover and tried to blame it on me instead of taking responsibility for this damage. I have no faith in their ability to repair the watch and therefore reject their proposal. I would like a full refund of the $1,400 I paid them so I can get it repaired by a more reputable and competent watch repair service.

Sincerely,

Business

Response:

We employ Century 21 watchmakers which is the highest certification available. There are only around 300 watchmakers in the USA with such a certification. The person assigned to repair this customer's watch has been featured in magazines as well as a former employee of [redacted].

[Your Answer Here]

The company already had ample time repair the watch, but did not do so. They may have expert watch repairers, but they repeatedly failed to repair my watch and then broke the crown cover hinge and instead of repairing it, they tried to blame me for it. I never got a chance to wear the watch let alone abuse it. I need a refund.

Review: The [redacted] of Aug 2013, I mailed a Seiko watch to this company for repairs. On Aug [redacted] 2013 I received an email telling me that they had received the watch and it in 5-10 days they would let me know the diagnosis and estimate of the repair. On Aug [redacted] they sent a estimate of $239.99 plus $16.34 shipping totaling the amount of $256.33. I agreed to let them repair the watch and paid them by credit card. When I received the watch back it was getting moisture under the face of it which it was not doing before I mailed it to them. I sent them an email about the moisture problem and ask them about their warranty and the reply I got back from [redacted] was "Did you wear it under water?" Dumb question.. I just received it back and I do no swim nor do I take showers with my jewelry on. I let them know that was not the case that it was getting moisture in it when I received it back. They ask that I send it back so I did. Then I get another email telling me that It would be an additional $129 plus $14.54 shipping to repair the watch. I lost it and told them to send my watch back to me as I was not paying again for something that they screwed up to start with.. After about 2 weeks later I got my watch and now it does not work at all. I've lost around $300.00 in repairs and shipping charges only to get the watch back in the same condition that it was sent.. Not working... Needless to say I am highly pissed off and I wish there was some way I could shut their doors forever., I only hope that you can get this matter resolved or at least let them know I am a very unhappy camper. and I will not remove this complaint against their company unless they meet my terms.Desired Settlement: I would desire a credit refund to my credit card as they did not hold up their end of the bargain and I do not trust sending my watch back to their company. I would never send anything to this company again.

Watch came back full of water and not running. I don't know what else to say except to state the facts.

Consumer

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

I had just received the watch back from the repair company when I noticed it was sweating. It was not sweating when the watch was sent in for repair. I paid them $256.33 for repairing and returning the watch which did not run correctly was the reason I sent it to them in the first place. Never once during their examination of the watch and estimate repair did they mention anything about rusted parts or water in the watch. If there had been in water in the watch they should have mentioned it at that point. Not charged me 256.33 and sent it back. As soon as I got it back and noticed the sweating underneath the crystal I contacted them. They say they have a 1 year warranty but seems to me they are falsely advertising. I have kept all of the emails that have been corresponded on this matter. I WILL NOT remove this complaint until they meet my terms.

Response:

This is an old watch which could not be waterproofed due to oxidation of the case. I can only comment on the condition the watch came back to us in. Metal does not sweat. Water enters the watch by coming into contact with it.

Consumer

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

True this is an old watch but on the first repair order #[redacted] your quote was"Overhaul...Completely disassemble watch, clean all moving parts with a specialized cleaning solvents, lubricate internal compenents with a high grade oil, test for 48-72 hours. the following repairs will also be conducted during the overhaul process: 1. Quartz motor repair...2. Rebuild discontinued circuit board. $239.99 plus 16.34 shipping total of 256.33. Now tell me if all of this was done and you tested it as you say and when I get it back it has moisture under the crystal.. who's wrong?? me or you?? You did not do your job the first go around and when I called you the second time you gave me ticket #[redacted] and you wanted to charge me an additional 129.99 plus 14.54 shipping totaling 144.53 again to fix something that you should have fixed in the first place. It appears to mne that you all need to get your facts and statements correct.

Review: I sent an heirloom watch in to be repaired back on June **, 2015. On July **, 2015 I finally got a repair estimate and was told they could repair the watch for $444.37. I gave them a credit card for the repair. I was also told the repair could take up to 3 months. I had planned to give the watch as a Christmas gift. I felt this was plenty of time for them to fix it.

At the end of October I had not received the watch so I started a series of emails to find out when I could expect to receive it. Even though I was then told 6-10 weeks, I thought I still had enough time before Christmas. I continued to send emails to Adam C[redacted] I could not get a straight answer out of him as to when to expect the watch or what was going on. I even threatened to cancel the whole thing, have them send me the watch back and have my credit card recredited. I did not get an answer to that communication. I finally got an answer stating the watch wouldn't be ready until late January. Adam did state it takes time to make the watch parts. This I can understand. But as of today's date, this means they have had the watch for close to 6 months which I feel is PLENTY of time. This is completely unacceptable. I want the watch repaired and sent to me via overnight delivery that they pay for by Dec **. The repair number is [redacted].Desired Settlement: I want the watch repaired and returned by overnight delivery that they pay for by Dec [redacted].

Business

Response:

We do our best to estimate the length of time for these vintage restorations. On the estimate it was advised a 4 month completion window. However this is taking a little longer. It is an approximate eta we provide, not a firm completion date. Especially with these older restorations, customers must be patient so that the work can progress and quality, not speed is prioritized. The watch is in good hands.

Review: I sent in a new watch given to me as a gift for repair it came back to me not in the condition sent, the watch has scratches to the bezel near the crystal and back of the watch was also scuffed,The repair price was excessive as well I paid $309.00 for the repair only to have it returned to me in not the same condition it was sent to the watch repair company in.

Business

Response:

Offered to have customer send it watch for examination. At worst, our policy is to send back watches in the same or better condition than they were received in. Thus, if there is a legitimate claim as to the watch being in worse condition than was sent, we will take care of that issue no problem. We have taken pictures for comparison. Thank you.

I will not send the company back the watch they damaged as I stated in the last email sent to you, due to the likelihood of future damage I have read on online complaints sent by other customers that used this company for servicing there watches I am more than willing to just have to he watch polished by a reputable jeweler and settle for a small reimbursement. But if not satisfied will take this complaint further with other agencies FTC etc. I thank the Revdex.com for taking the time and effort to help and investigate this claim even if there is not resolve from a disreputable company such as this!

Review: I sent my Louis Bolle watch for reapir or replacement of the minute hand. I was told parts are no longer available. I was asked if I wanted watch-repair-usa, to trash my watch, since parts were no longer available. I requested my watch be returned to me. Thus, I paid the shipping cost, and when my watch arrived, I noticed the back of the watch was flopping around, and I would not run. I took it to a local jeweler. I was told screws were missing, and the spring was broke. I contacted watch repair usa both by email and phone call. Email response was that they never touched the watch, and phone call said the same. I suspect my parts are in someone elses watch. My watch ran when I sent it to then. Not anymore. Nobody will fess up to it. I am so sorry I sent this beautiful watch to these people.Desired Settlement: Get my watch running again, as it was orginally sent. I'll live with the broken minute hand.

Business

Response:

Watch was not opened and not touched. It has an unrepairable [redacted] movement inside which is not designed for repair, but only replacement. This is why we did not even open the watch up. We cannot be held responsible for a watch which was not even touched by us.

Review: HAVING A PROBLEM IN REGARDS TO A WATCH REPAIR. I HAVE STATED TO THEM ONLY REPLACE THE MAINSPRING NOTHING ELSE NO CLEANING NO CRYSTAL REPLACEMENT AND NOTHING ELSE. IF YOU CALL THE NUMBER LISTED ALL YOU GET IS A RECORDING AND YOU ARE PUT ON HOLD AND DISCONNECTED. THEY HAVE MY NUMBER AND THEIR WEBSITE SAYS THEY WILL CONTACT BY PHONE BUT THEY ONLY CONTACT ME BY EMAIL. THE REPAIR ( WHICH I HAD DONE BEFORE ON ANOTHER WATCH IS ABOUT $100) BUT THEY ARE TRYING TO CHARGE ME FOR ALOT OF UNECESSARY STUFF WHICH I HAVE TOLD THEM I DONT WANT NEW CRYSTAL ETC

Business

Response:

We provided the customer a free quote. The customer was explained that in order to replace the main spring the watch has to be completely taken apart. If he wants to get a second opinion he is welcome to do so. As no money has exchanged hands this is not grounds for a complaint. At this point I would prefer the customer take his business elsewhere. This is not the kind of customer we want.

Sincerely,

Review: My watch began slowing down, so I thought it needed a battery. I found Watch Repairs USA and filled out their repair form and sent it to them Oct **, 2014. A week later I was contacted and told the watch needed repair and given an itemized list totaling over $333.00. I approved the repair November ** 2014. I kept checking the status of my watch and all their website said was my watch was "In for Repair". Week after week I checked and there was no new information. Finally I filed a ticket regarding my watch and received a response from associate [redacted] on December *, 2014 that repairs usually take 4-8 weeks. The ticket was closed. I continued to wait with no new status. I opened another ticket asking for the status of my watch and received another email from [redacted] January *, 2015 that my watch would be repaired that very week. Again the case was closed. I continued to monitor the status, but it did not change. I opened another case ticket and received and email from [redacted] that he would check on the status and email me the next day. January **, 2015 I received an email from [redacted] that parts had been back ordered and were not expected to be available until mid February 2015. By this time I was very annoyed and upset my watch repair that I had not been informed parts were back ordered and that my watch repair has taken so long. So I asked for my watch to be returned so I could get another company to repair it. [redacted] indicated that my watch was in pieces on the bench, so it could not be shipped back. I am stuck at the mercy of Watch Repairs USA, with an enormous repair bill and no watch for 4 months. Twice as long as I was told repairs take. I am disgusted with the lack of truthful information regarding the status of my watch repair I received and now I either want my watch repaired or returned immediately. They have had my watch in their possession for 4 months. It's an expensive watch and it's been a real pain to be with out it. I'm tired of being misled and lied to about their service and I'm tired of waiting for my watch to be repaired. I really have no idea when I will get it repaired or when I will get it back now that it is in parts. I certainly don't want them returning my watch as a box of parts. For their lack of competence, for their lack of informing me that parts have been back ordered since November and won't be available for yet another month, for being without my watch since October **, I feel I deserve compensation.Desired Settlement: For the mistreatment, false information and for being without the service of my watch and payment for services for 4 months. Currently my watch is in pieces and cannot be repaired as it is. I request the following:

1) My Tissot T-Touch Expert sells for over $800. I want $800.00 from Watch Repairs USA and I want the repair cost I paid November **, 2014 in the amount of $333.47 refunded to my credit card account so I can buy a new watch, or

2) I want $333.47 I paid for repair of my watch refunded to my credit card account and my watch repaired without cost for the mistreatment, false information, for having to pay in full prior to service and for the lack of use of my watch for the last 4 months, with a guarantee that I will receive my watch in perfect working order warranted for 1- year as advertised by Watch Repairs USA and I want it delivered to me before the end of February 2015.

Business

Response:

The watch will be returned, repaired, the first half of february. We made one mistake. We did not report that the parts were on backorder. We have acknowledged and apologized for this mistake. To repeat, the customer will receive exactly what he paid for in short order. Thank you.

For not keeping me informed that parts were back ordered and are still on back order 3 months and for trying to pacify me with emails that everything was on track when it obviously was not and for being without my watch for twice the normal amount of repair time with no completion date provided until I filed a complaint with the Revdex.com, I feel I am entitled to compensation. I feel that in the very least I should be not charged for repair services on my watch as I indicated by the second part of my declaration of compensation. That is the minimum compensation I will agree to or this complaint will remain in effect.

Sincerely,

Review: I sent my Elgin pocket in for repairs in Nov. 2013 and got it back the first week of July 2014. When I first talked to the man that was doing the repairs I was told that the watch was from the 1910's and I also asked about what Gold Full ment as that was on the in side of the backing he said it meant a plating. I asked to have all parts returned. I had been calling to check on what was taking so long and was told it was hard to find parts and that they would have to make some. Then I got a call in late may and a man by the name of [redacted] called and told me that because it was taking so long I could have a refund and my watch back or give them more time. I at first said do the watch right and that same day I called back and said to give me a refund and return my watch. [redacted] got on the phone and was excited about my change of mind. I told him I'll give him till the [redacted] of June 2014. My watch was sent back the first part of July. I opened the back of the watch and found that it had been changed to Gold Filled. I looked up about Gold full and found out that it meant solid Gold. I ran the numbers on the watch and found that it was from 1945. The only resone I paid the price I paid was because they told me that I could get a $1000.00 or better. Then they send me a pocket watch that I could get on [redacted] for less than a $100.00.Desired Settlement: I want the pocket watch I sent in back or the full price of a 1910's solid Gold Elgin back.

Business

Response:

We returned the customer's watch - the very same watch he sent in. Customer appears confused and throughout the process has made many conflicting statements without being able to back anything up. We restored this 100 year old pocketwatch. The customer received the repair they paid for. We do not perform appraisals, I mentioned that many companies sell restored pocketwatches similar to this for 1000 or more. Thank you.

Consumer

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because, For one [redacted] by his owe word Puts my pocket watch at 100 years old, and like I said they told me that my watch was from the 1910's. The number inside the watch is [redacted] when I looked that up it is a watch from 1945. He did not make mention of the fact that I asked for my parts back from the day I gave the ok. I also asked about the watch having Gold Full on the back and was told that it was some kind of plate. When I got my watch back I pulled the back cover off and seen Gold Filled, that is a plate, yes a heavy plate but not soild like I sent in. They had my watch since Nov. 1913 till July 1914, now that is a long time for someone that works on those types of pocket watch and when I looked at the reviews that were on there web page everone had newer watch's.

I am asking that if they do not do right by me then the business should have the Revdex.com sign removed and a sign put that they are not in good standing with the Revdex.com.

Review: I sent my watch for repairs. It needed a new battery, band and stem. On their website I selected the things that were applicable...Battery, Band and gaskets & seals. The quote came back and the band was on backorder for 5-6 weeks, but they could replace with comparable one. For time sake, I chose to go with comparable band, bringing my charges to $81 for repairs. I made payment and waited and entire month at which time I received email stating that the "Stem" was missing and that would be another $59. I argued the point that I check seals and gaskets as it didn't say anything about stems as I was not the watch expert. He stated it was an oversight on their part but I would still have to pay the additional $59. I told them it was their mistake and I would split the difference, if not just to return my money and the watch. Another week goes by and I get a notice to pay the $59 we finally agreed on $39 and still waited another month for my watch. They received the watch on March [redacted] and I didn't get it back until May [redacted]. Upon receiving the watch...it was filthy, their website claims excellence and craftsmanship and all other types of quality service which was never presented in the entire transaction. The stem/crown was not installed it was just loose in the bag, the watch was not functioning and band was not at least of equal quality or color. I contacted customer and expressed my disgust and unsatisfactory condition of my watch, not only the loose crown but it not functioning and that I need and expedited resolution to the matter...their reply to my two paragraph complaint was - " The crown was installed, perhaps it fell out."

No other resolution, concern or interest in their inadequate service was expressed. I was able to screw the crown in, however the watch doesn't work properly, it gets stuck at 4:30 everyday and the date doesn't change and the crown pops out. You think they would have at least polished the watch, it's just an overall disappointment on my favorite time piece.Desired Settlement: To have my watched fixed in a timely manner or have my money returned. Above all an apology. I expressed that if they could not have fixed the watch they should have just refused the business and returned the merchandise instead of sending back the watch worse than when it was sent in.

[Your Answer Here]

Their level of customer service and/or customer care or concern is inadequate. I don't want to send my watch back and have them keep for another 3 months and risk additional fantom charges applied in order to get my watch returned. They lied about the return time of watch (which was important), the lied about their guaranteed quote and in essence returned my watch worse than when it was sent off. At this point I would not even send them a plastic timex. When they had my watch and asked for them just to send it back, they wouldn't until I paid the additional charges...not going to risk having my watch held and more money taken from me in order to get it back.

Response:

As to the length of time of the repair - we had advised the customer at the time of estimate that Invicta was slow to provide us parts, that it could be as much as 4 months. The warranty repair should not be anywhere near as long since no additional parts from the factory will be required.

Review: I sent my Bulova watch to Watch Repair USA. about six months ago. At this time I Paid $213.54 for the work to be done. A month or so later, I got the watch back. It was running but, none of the function buttons did anything. I bought that watch the because of those functions, stop watch, alarm, etc.. I called the company and they said to send it back for warrantee service, which I did. A month or two later the watch came back in the same condition, non-working buttons. Watch Repair USA instructed me to send it once more, which I did. Months Later I called the company again and spoke to the principle of the company, whose name is [redacted]. He told me the watch could not be repaired because parts were no longer available. He offered me a refund or my choice of a watch from the Bulova catalog with a price of $325 or less. I chose refund because Id purchased another watch while all this was going on. Also, lost Id lost any faith in their ability to fix anything. Weeks went by and I called again. This time [redacted] said they could actually fix the watch. I said no, I wanted a refund. He said the choice was no longer up to me.Obviously there are two important facts here, they will never be able to fix the watch and [redacted] will never willingly refund my money. I need help.Desired Settlement: I want a refund.

Business

Response:

I explained to the customer that there was a change in the messaging from Bulova who is the company who was approved by the customer to conduct the actual repairs. It was brought to the attention of the [redacted] and the repair will be successfully completed in the next few days. If they do not successfully repair the watch, I explained to the customer that a refund will be granted no questions asked. This is very shortly approaching a conclusion, complaints like these only serve to make the process more aggravating for both parties.

At this point

I know that the watch cannot be repaired by Watch Repair USA. I want a refund. I would be satisfied if they fixed the watch, but I fear they will send me some other watch which is not acceptable. They had many months to fix it and failed. I want a refund![redacted]

The watch arrived on friday, I personally tested it and found that it works. It was shipped today:[redacted]The one year warranty period has been restarted to the date it is delivered to the customer.

Review: In February 2016 I shipped a six month old Luminox watch to Watch Repairs USA for an estimate on replacing a scratched crystal. The watch was working perfectly when shipped. I received a repair estimate that I opted to decline due to cost. I had to pay approximately $17 for return shipping and when I received the watch in March, it was not functioning. I requested that the company provide me with information on how to file a shipping damage claim and was told the battery probably died (again in a watch I bought six months ago) and the company refused to provide information on submitting a shipping damage claim.Desired Settlement: Replace the watch or provide shipping damage claim process information.

Business

Response:

From best I can tell the customer has not done their due diligence to determine if the battery is, in fact, dead.

Watch Repairs USA makes unfounded assumptions. I have in fact had the battery checked. I asked Watch Repairs USA to provide shipping damage claim information for a reason (which it refused to provide).

Response:

I observed the watch to be running here. However, given the nature of the damage to the watch (a large impact) there is a good possibility this caused an issue which surfaced later. My best offer would be to repair the watch at a discounted cost, although we are not obligated to do so. Given the aggressive tact the customer has chosen, most owners would likely not be so generous.

Review: Sent Nubeo watch to have Crown repair and service. Watch was in working order when sent, the crown was just loose. Initial estimate was approx $30, but company did state that this was dependent on viewing the watch. Repair was re-quoted at $974.98. We agreed to work as we wanted to ensure it was a high quality repair. Watch worth approx $5,000. Watch finally returned after company incorrectly posted it to UAE instead of UK. Was made to feel the postal issue was our fault. Watch was received well packaged, and packaging not damaged in any way. Watch now does not work. Have sent two complaints over the last 2 weeks. No response has been received to suggest how the company wishes to correct this problems.Desired Settlement: When raising complaint we were hoping that the company would offer to have the watch back to review its repair. As they have not responded, we would now like a refund as we do not wish to deal with this company further.

Review: I sent my Wenger Pilot/Dive watch to the Watch Repairs USA Company for a new crystal and seals. The only problem with the watch was a scratched crystal and the local jeweler recommended utilizing a company specializing in this type of repair.

This repair was for approximately $70. Then within a week of receiving my watch back, the watch filled with moisture after merely swimming with the watch on my wrist. I have owned this watch for several years and had never had any problems with moisture after years of swimming and whitewater kayaking.

I then contacted the Watch Repair USA Company and they recommended that I send back the watch for warranty repairs. After receiving the watch back, the company then sent me an estimate for $122.89 via e-mail. I then contacted the company by phone and the [redacted]i stated that their equipment tested fine on the watch during the original repair and that they would not warrantee their repair. This expensive watch is now rusted internally and ruined. The watch provided great time for years until Watch Repairs USA serviced it.

I don’t mind paying a fair price for the original repair, however it is disconcerting that this company will not stand behind their work.Desired Settlement: The Watch Repair USA Company should either repair or repalce my Wenger watch.

Business

Response:

Watch was sealed and pressure tested in our authoritative machine when it was repaired. Printout included with watch. Watch took on moisture either by way of an open crown or use of pushers while submerged. Despite this, I can offer to refund the crystal so that the customer will stop harassing us.

Review: This was just a total ripoff. I sent my watch to [redacted], spent 400 dollars, and they literally just tossed in a new battery and put on a new crystal. The watch was gone for three months and worked for about two weeks on its return. A total joke, and you don't have to look far on yelp to see I'm not the only one in this situation with them.Desired Settlement: I think I deserve a refund. It was a total ripoff. Sure I'll give 'em 100 buck to throw on a new crystal, twice what I have paid in the recent past, but these guys are nothing short of an ourtright scam and literally need to be put out of business.

Business

Response:

1. Please explain how the determination was made that "we only replaced the battery". A complete movement service was performed. That statement is a merit less accusation.2. This work is covered by a ONE YEAR warranty. Please have the customer contact us to arrange warranty service.

Review: Company was supposed to repair vintage watch with "genuine" parts, but used cheap plastic instead, contrary to the written repair estimate and warranties on company website. I requested refund, company refused.

Business

Response:

Customer has already disputed this transaction with paypal, and they will review the evidence set forth to determine if the dispute is valid. To summarize however, the customer is unhappy with the crystal installed in her 80 year old watch, she says she wants the original part, which is obviously no longer available. The part installed was as promised, we said we would install a custom cut crystal and delivered such.

Review: I sent my watch in for repair with specific instructions: one being, to get the button located on the side of my watch fixed(it fell off) and the other issue, which was to replace the scratched crystal glass located on the watch face. I paid 174.14 for the work and my watch was only half-way repaired. Only the button on my watch was fixed. I was swindled for my money.Desired Settlement: I would like to be reimbursed for the the work that was paid for, but not done.

Business

Response:

Customer requested this service, but was not quoted for this service nor did they pay for the service. Ultimately it is the customers responsibility actually read the quote we provide to make sure they are paying for exactly what they want are wanting. Given the customers dissatisfaction I offered to pay for the shipping both ways in order to provide a quote for the additional work.

Consumer

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

First off, when one seeks service, one expects to be provided such service without complications. That is not necessarily the case most of the time; however, if complications arise, one should be notified and made aware of all formalities regarding such complications. with that being said, I requested repairs performed on my watch. The repairs asked: we're the button on the side of my watch to be replaced and a new crystal that was scratch-free replaced on the face of my watch. The business sent me a quote with parts that were to be replaced. I agreed to the quote that was given. The list of parts given were in a form that only a person who repairs watches for a living could comprehend. The business owner purposely does this to unbeknowing customers to receive extra payment. Why not state only half the work could be done? Why not clarify the terms given. As you can see from previous complaints this gentleman has a common business practice of deceit. Mr. C[redacted] also gives no date of completion with his services and customers have to inquire about work. Once they inquire about the work he doesn't respond. I have proof of emails and correspondence pertains to this service. I understand that I am liable for agreeing to the terms, but he is also liable about not divulging the specifics of the repairs. By not saying something, he is also accountable. He states he would agree to do additional repairs, but how can he do so without having such bias after this complaint. The customer deserves quality work--not partial work. This consumes time on my behalf and that also has a value. Ultimately, I would like to see some type of compensation for this misuse of time and unwillingness to meet my service expectations. Even if I do not receive compensation, the satisfaction that someone else may see this complaint and think twice before doing business with WatchRepairsUSA is satisfaction enough. In addition, where in the world does a button for the side of a watch cost 174.14. This isn't a Hermes or Hublot watch. This is inflation at its highest.

Response:

The quote can be viewed here: [redacted]

The customer was responsible for reading the quote and contacting us if they had a problem with it. There really is nothing further to discuss, I have presented a very fair resolution to this issue, the customer just wants to yell.

Consumer

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

You call that fair--free shipping. You offer free shipping either way. You aren't doing anything else besides what you would normally provide. Did you read the documentation that I provided at all since as a business owner that's one of your obligations. Why is it that I did not get the crystal replaced on my watch? You provide no answers, but talk about statutes. This is once again proof of abnormal, shady business practices. It isn't as if you said there was a mistake on your behalf. You only blame me as the consumer for accepting your quote. Sir, at least take ownership of your mistake. You simply did not provide the service that was asked for.
