Service is terrible. Everyone in the entire county complains about it. Everything is glitchy all the time. Get kicked off the internet constantly. Forget about downloading anything if you use this service. BUYER BEWARE!!!!!

I did not want to have Windstream as my internet provider, but my family moved to a new house in an area where we had no choice as they were the only providers for the area. I had had a previous bad experience with them (long story short, I was out $80 to have them tell me they did not service the apartment complex I was living in at the time and did not get reimbursed my money). I received internet service from AT&T with no issues whatsoever. What they said I owed each month when I first spoke to a sales rep was exactly what I paid each month.
Unfortunately, not the case with Windstream. Naturally, it started off as a bad experience as I was needing internet ASAP for work. I work Tuesday - Friday and could not take off work for someone to come by and get everything set up. I received an e-mail saying that 2 days from receiving the e-mail someone would be by. I had to work so I called them to see if they could come by sooner than that. Nope. That was their only day unless I wanted to wait another week. I use internet for work so this was out of the question. It was frustrating trying to deal with this when I only had a 2 day warning. Please send out scheduled times sooner than 2 days beforehand so we can make arrangements accordingly.
Next, I went online to pay my bill and hello, sticker shock. $165 for internet and cable? Not what I had been told. I was told the pricing for the wireless internet and the cable and the modem rental (yes, that's ridiculous too! I already have a modem, but of course, they can't use it since it's not a Windstream one.) I was expecting the total for the month to be somewhere in the $80 range. Looking at the bill, there is over $20 in extra charges and taxes that was not explained to me when I agreed to use Windstream. I call to see what is going on with this. The lady helping me, although super nice about the situation, explained that the extra fees and charges go along with the phone service (which you have to have if you plan on using wireless internet, however we just use our cell phones). Great, an extra $20 for something we aren't using.
All in all, Windstream seems as if they are out to get you with hidden fees and surcharges. They lock you into a 2 year contract and the customer can expect to see the fees add up on their bill. Very disappointing. I would never have used Windstream if I had a choice, and if you do have a choice, stay far away!

The only positive I see with them is that their employees are very nice and courteous, however it does not make up for the fact that I am out $165 for the month.

Windstream customer service requies an occupant to be home. I have lost a minimum of 20 work hours due to poor customer communication. Im an expected to stay home a third day. Will windstream show this time? Will they at least call? No..and no. When the first bill is due and im short 20+ hours on my paycheck, I hope they take that into consideration when they do not recieve payment. Terrible people to peolpe customer service. Good luck windstream buyers...........

This business is seriously the worst company I have ever tried dealing with. There is very little customer service, Internet connection is not reliable & ongoing outages.

Windstream is the worst internet provider ever! Recently bought a home in Wadesboro NC and they are the only provider. I signed up for a $50/month plan and my bill is $96. How in the world?! Was told there are $23+ in taxes and surcharges, $12 modem fee, $11 service fee. After 1 month of their service I am done. Windstream shouldn't be allowed to charge such a high amount when the internet speed is slow and not even guaranteed.

PLEASE BE AWARE OF THIS COMPANY!!! I CANNOT CAUTION YOU ENOUGH! MY EXPERIENCE WITH THIS COMPANY WAS A COMPLETE JOKE! ORIGINALLY SET UP SERVICE IN MID OCTOBER, BY DECEMBER 29TH I STILL DID NOT HAVE SERVICE! THEY MISSED.. NOT 1.. NOT 2.. NOT 3.. BUT 4 APPOINTMENTS IN A ROW.. THIS COMPANY WAS ONE OF 2 CHOICES IN MY AREA. I SIGNED UP WITH DISH NETWORK FOR MY CABLE AND WINDSTREAM FOR MY PHONE AND INTERNET. AFTER 3 MONTHS OF NO PHONE AND INTERNET I DECIDED SCREW IT! IM GOING WITH CHARTER BY DOING SO I WAS FORCED TO HAVE TO PAY A $500 TERMINATION FEE WITH DISH DUE TO THE FACT THAT I COULD NOT HAVE BOTH. AND DO YOU KNOW WHAT WINDSTREAM HAD TO SAY EACH AND EVERY TIME I CALLED ABOUT YET ANOTHER ISSUE.... "MY APOLOGIES"... "IM SORRY"... LAST TIME I CHECKED.. THOSE WORDS DONT GET ME PHONE AND INTERNET AND THEY CERTAINLY DONT PAY A $500 TERMINATION FEE! IF YOU ARE EVERY PUT IN A SITUATION WHERE YOU HAVE TO CHOOSE BETWEEN WINDSTREAM AND WHO EVER... ALWAYS AND I MEAN ALWAYS CHOOSE "WHOEVER"

Windstream internet service is very slow! I called t9 have mybill reduced, I was paying $105/ month. I had a phone plan with them as well. Thought I could grt it reduced because I do not use the phone line. Initially I was told, I was actually getting a better rate than I would get if I removed the services from my bill.
I asked her what was my internet speed? She said Up to 3.0 mbs. She agreed that the price I was paying was a little high for the speed I was getting. They removed all services I was not using. I received my bill, it went down to $95/month.
I also asked why was my bill si much higher than afriends that lived just 2 miles away? Because of where I live. Because there are no other service providers, I pay more. Not assuming there, I clarified with them ifthis was so, their reply was yes. I hate windstream with a passion! Very dissatisfied!

For over ten years I've had Windstream phone and Internet service and been having issues from email not working pages not loading and Windstream home page most,of the time nothing will work if you click on it. Want to watch a clip about a news release spots ect it will not load. This becomes very upsetting when you pay for a service and don't get what you have purchased. When you call to get matters resolved it's always I'm sorry sir but because of this is why. The problem is on ther side I wish they would fix all ther issues. I would change but Windstream is the only game in town I can get. When I first moved to the location I'm at our phone service was really bad. I think two cups and a string would have worked better and this is no joke. It took me almost a year to get them to fix the problem and it was on there end. The service tech that would come to the house would always say it's the house. I have a service plan so they checked all my phone jacks ect and all checked good. It took me writing a letter to the CEO of Windstream and called me one day and told me he was sending a man out to resolve all my issues. Three months later the where digging up the ground down along the road to fix the phone line. But the internet problems are still here. My speed runs at about 43 percent most of the time and the whole internet package is very bad. Please help. Mr. Dale [redacted]

I have had Windstream home telephone service for yrs a tree fell on my line I was told on other words too bad your issue but u expect me too pay the bill with no service I have a sick 82 yr old father it us important I have service my address is [redacted] Pond [redacted] XXXXX phone [redacted] and [redacted]

Wind stream flat-out lies about their internet service. We pay $80 a month for "12mbps up and .75mbps down" yet 70% of the time we use our internet we actually get around 3-5mbps down.

We have called countless times and they will either

A. Claim it's our fault or an issue with our router (We've had 4 new ones, provided by Windstream)
B. Claim they are "upgrading" (They have been "upgrading" for about 5 years..
C. Claim there's simply nothing they can do.

Basically what it comes down to is we're paying a ridiculous price for a tiny amount of internet, and Windstream can't even deliver that.

Avoid this company like the plague if you can, they are 100% lying about what services they can provide- If we had another choice in our area these guys would get dropped in a heartbeat.

Our internet has not been working for three months now. I called for them to send someone out to fix it. But since my husband's name is on the account they refuse to send someone out to our house to fix the problem. My husband works all the time and he does not have the time to call. I will not be paying for something that I can not even use. It's not like I'm changing anything on the account. All I wanted is for someone to come to the house and fix their mess!!

Windstream communications has been very misleading with me they have intentionally repeated unethical practices with me and from what I have noticed from my investigations from going online and looking into how they treat other customers. They make promises of bundled priceing on packages with Internet and phone and dish services then after they keep you hooked up for so long and have you paying through them through their business dept. they then gouge you and turn your services off and tell you they didn't agree to that and that you have to pay every thing separately if you want to keep your services connected. I'm not the only one their are other people with the same story on the Internet. Not only that. Supposedly my fiancée finally worked something out with them and I use air quotes witch means lightly because you can't beleive a thing they say, we went down to 1 Internet service instead of 2 because originally we were paying for 2 Internet services and a 2 phone service. Which we were under contract for under the business side. So my fiancée explained that whatever it was I had agreed to I was appently mislead into the agreement. So we got it nocked down to 1 Internet service and a phone service. Currently we are still being billed for two Internet lines and a 2phone lines and we only have 1 Internet line and 1 phone service.

Horrible experience with this company, had FDN and they bought that company and it went downhill. outage and problems with connections, had to send employees home several times, They offered credits and then never lived up to giving them. Had to threaten them with lawsuit before I could change carriers even though I was out of contract. Lost my email name, just a bad company. Would not recommend them to anyone. They intentionally made it difficult to change carriers, while billing continued, I memorized the call script they used because of calling each time.

Windstream's performance at our Pearl River facility has been consistently very poor. With only a month's notice, they informed us that the monthly fee for internet service would increase by 92%. This is tantamount to extortion. This has placed a burden on us financially and left us with very little time to secure an alternative provider. This business should not be allowed to continue its predatory practices.

This company is horrible. They are constantly messing up and never want to fix your problems. They switched a setting in the head office turning off our internet for 7 days. Two call takers had no clue how to fix it. They also messed up the cable and said a repair man was coming on a particular day. Waited all day and then they said on it will be next week. I get it that this is the reputation of cable companies but they routinely do this.

Crappy Customer service, can not ever reach them. when we do they will not help because their hours are 8-5. Who pays for internet and is available 8-5 m-f? We consistently do not receive what they advertise we are paying for.. it is getting out of hand. for more time than we have had their service we have received half the speed we are paying for. It is unfair, ridiculous, and such a scam. AVOID AT ALL COST! they will try to make you believe it is your fault and pay more. We pay for the higher speed and receive the lower speed.

I have been a valued customer for the last 24 years. I pay my phone bill every month on time and have never had an interruption because of failure to pay. My complaint is for the last 2 months I have absolutely no phone services!!!!! I can't dial out nor can I receive incoming calls! I have called Windstream every two days about this issue but still nothing has been resolved! This company is the worse!!!! They care nothing about valuable customers! The service representatives keep giving me the same line, " I've submitted a work ticket." I am so over this company!!! Here I am two months later with no landline services! I will not stop with complaints until this issue is taken care of! No valuable customer should experience this!!!! I absolutely HATE Windstream! The company lies and have a rehearsed customer service staf!The service Techs claim to have visited your property and they never do.! If I ever find another company that can accommodate my needs, Windstream will be a CLOSED book that I will NEVER OPEN AGAIN NOR REFER IT TO ANYONE!!!! I HATE THIS COMPANY!!!!!!

My land line phone service was shut off the day after my having made the request with my phone company in October 2015. I informed Windstream who was my long distance carrier of this. I continued to receive bills from Windstream Communications, Inc.for month's after my phone service was shut off into 2016. I contacted Windstream attempting to straighten things out about being billed for a dead line, but got nowhere with them. I then received a letter from Windstream threatening to shut off my ( non-existent phone: as I already had my phone shut off in October) phone service and that I would have to make payment for reconnect fees if I did not pay the bill!! They then threatened me with legal action if I did not pay and have threatened my credit. I am now being harassed by their collection agency. This company may bill you indefinitely for phone service you no longer even have and then tell you they never knew your phone line was shut off.

Terrible product service and terrible customer service. Charged for internet service that was very bad or didn't work at all. And in so many words was told it was an unfixable problem and there was nothing they could do.

We are a software business in western Iowa and have been without internet service for the past 7 days. When we call into Windstream and reference the open work ticket number, they proceed to transfer us from department to department; each person unable to resolve the issue just passing us on to someone else! They sold us an internet package with ethernet over copper that is supposed to guarantee us internet speed of 3 up and 3 down; with a DSL backup. This does not work! And when we call to get service, it seems like the people we talk to on the phone are clueless as to what is going on!! WORST service I've ever seen or heard of!
