I had a terribly upsetting experience with someone from Rover.com two weeks ago and more of a problem with how the staff at Rover.com handled it I paid for two nights of House Sitting with someone who had a very good review from Rover.com She was given a full page of instructions, shown her guest room and bath and we went over all of our senior dog's needsShe lied about when she arrived the first time to our home- saying she was there at 2:when we checked the Ring device on our garage, she didn't arrive till 4PM She was supposed to stay the rest of the day and all through the night, instead she left at 4:23PM and did not return till the next morning at 8:30AM My dog suffers from separation anxiety already and this put him in a real tailspin- literally His back had already had problems (herniated discs which he had recovered from to 95%) suddenly when we got home, he could not walk again and could only propel himself by his front legs Even the second day, the sitter arrived at 8:34, left soon after, returned a few times during the day and left for the night at 6PM when she was supposed to stay all night She returned the next morning at 10:AM and was surprised to find that he had soiled himself She left before we got home at 2: When I asked her via text if she stayed over as the bed she was supposed to use looked untouched, she admitted she hadn't stayed over
I contacted Rover.com and they sent me to their trust and support department I was assigned someone who would be contacting me shortly I then heard from other people in the department who said that the person I was assigned was out that day but she would contact me asap She never did I sent them the timeline from my Ring device to show the times she came and went They never contacted me again I called them and was told they couldn't discuss the case with me! She is still listed on their site We are very upset that they allow someone to remain on their list who is actually cruel to animals

Hired a pet sitter via Rover to stay at my apartment with my dogs for nights (6/3/2018-6/5/2018)The sitter did NOT follow any of the care instructions left for her, did not provide enough water, left the dogs outside in the Arizona heat for over an hour (temperature was over that day), did not provide medications to my special needs dogThe sitter also had an uninvited guest in my apartment without informing in any way, said it was her boyfriend, both slept together in my bed and had intercourseSince medication was missing, one dog had multiple accidents inside, which the sitter attempted to clean with my hand towels and kitchen towelsLittle water and AZ heat caused both dogs to become dehydrated and started to over heat
Rover refuses to help pay for the damages to my apartment, vet bills, etcRover showed no sympathy for my animals or myselfOnly refunded my money

I hired a sitter from this company and the sitter lost my puppy within hours of the first day of careThey did not find her and I found her on the internet hours laterMy puppy was taken in by a neighbor that literally lives across the street from the sitterWhich tells me that they did not look for her and didn't bother to be reputable sitters as guaranteed by rover.comI asked for a full refund and the cost of the vet visit of $they are refusing to cover the vet cost because it was for a microchip Regardless it was the actions and neglect that caused this action and costIt is the very least they should be providing as my puppy could be dead because of their negligent sittersAt this time I am asking for the cost coverage or I will take them to court at their expense The company claimed to send out all alerts for missing pets and I found nothing done by this company

On August 18th -21st I hired a pet sitter to watch my cat and dog while I was on vacationOn the 19th of August the pet sitter decided to have someone spend the night in my home with out my permissionI called her over and over again, she did not answer until the next morningI was horrified! I told her she could not have anyone else at my home for the remainder of the stayI then received a call from her mother telling me that if I didn't allow her daughter to have her friend over, along with periodic visits from her mother, they were going to abandon my petsI spent money on getting an early flight back, and wasn't given a dime back from Rover.com, and their resolution is to continue working with the "pet sitter", and provide her with trainingWhat is even more frustrating, this isn't the first time I have worked with a sitter from this site, who decided to change our agreement, once I was already in another state, helplessIf this is the standard by which Rover.com holds it's sitters to, I want nothing to do with them and have deactivated my accountI am disgusted this pet sitter is still a part of the Rover.com community, and I am out well over $between what I paid Rover.com, Groceries I purchased for the "pet sitter", and the flight I had to take back earlyVery disappointed)I became even more frustrated when I discovered Rover.com manipulated the content of my review written on them via TrustPilot.comIn my review, I mentioned the pet sitters first name and first initial of her last name Conveniently, rover.com found an issue with my review indicating it broke trustpilot.com privacy rulesWhat's odd, is there are over a dozen reviews written on rover.com that contact first names.Shame on trust pilot for allowing rover.com to manipulate the content of the reviews for rover.comAfter everything I have been through, I cant believe how they are going out of their way to protect a sitter who violated my home and trustFurthermore, I am appalled at their ability to enforce privacy rules on trustpilot.com only for those they chooseIt is discriminatoryNo one should ever have to go through what I went through while on vacation

I will never use Rover again after my recent experience with themI booked a weekend stay at a sitter’s apartment through Rover while I went away for a wedding, and my dog had a suspected anaphylactic reaction to something on a walk with the sitterShe was taken to an emergency vet hospital and Rover put down a $1,deposit for any care needed thereI was on a flight and unavailable, by the time I got updated the vet hospital had already run up an insane bill in testing and interventions without my consentMy dog was kept over night and released to a new sitter because I was concerned as to what she was exposed to under the care of the sitterRover then said this was all my responsibility because allergies were considered a pre-existing conditionThis had never happened to my dog beforeRover’s customer service was terrible to deal with, and I was left with the total vet bill, full of testing that I never would have consented forLooking out for other conservative pet owners, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

I've used rover.com twice now and both times were awfulThe first sitter left vomit in my wastebasket for me to clean AND left an oven mitt in the broiler of my gas oven, thus nearly burning my house downThe second sitter didn't read any of the instruction and left my pup without food or toys all dayAfter these negative experiences, I took a closer look at the profiles on roverNONE of the reviews are bad on roverIt says that sitters can not remove reviews but it's obvious that they doThere are no negative reviews on anyone's profilesMy sitter's profile says she has reviews yet only showI check out other random sitter profiles and they too all have positive reviews and missing negative reviewsSketchy AF

When I started vetting sitters I made it clear how difficult a time our little guy had been havingI just had a baby, his doggy sister died recently, we made a major move and then we had to leave on an important day family tripOur dog had experienced a lot of change and needed some extra supportOur petsitter seemed compassionate and reliable and her schedule seemed to allow plenty of one on one time for our dog so the set up seemed idealOnce we were gone our petsitter seemed distant and it was a challenge to get updates without her being promptedShe didn’t seem interested in trying to connect with our dog and he spent the first few days hiding in the closetI had to make suggestions to get her to be responsiveFinally we found out from multiple neighbors that our petsitter had different men in our home without our permissionWe were able to confirm by home surveillance (that she was actually aware of) that she had two men in our home overnight a few different timesWe h

Recently had a sitter that left dogs for hours in our house one day and hours the next without any breaksWe paid $65/day for the full in house sittingThe company refused any refund because the dogs were "in her care" during the timeIf the sitter comes one time in twenty four hours then the dogs are in "the sitters care" and you cannot receive a refundThe sitter also left with a clogged and flooded toiletTheir response to that was-"we will coach the sitter not to do that"They DO NOT stand behind their service

Complaint: ***I am rejecting this response because:
Although Rover provided a rover bucks of $I am not longer using the service. I rather have a cash value of the $since I am not able to get a full refund. Security should be a top priority for your clients as I have said before. Sincerely,*** ***

I went through Rover and hired Cecilia (Cece) Sto care for my dogs and home for 4/17- 4/21/for overnight stays and extra time during the day with an agreement that the dogs were not to be left alone longer than hrs at a timeIt is unclear when Cece was in my home on 4/At 11pm, my neighbor sent me a text and asked how often the sitter should be comingI said she was doing overnights, spending time during the day, etc*** let me know that she had not seen Cece coming/going during the day but *** did feel like the house was unoccupied for some time because the hall light and the backyard light were the only lights onI began to call and text CeceAs time passed I began to worry and finally asked *** to go knock on the doorShe did several times and Cece did not answer*** entered my home at approx12:15am (I was on the phone) called for Cece and walking through the houseMy dogs were aloneThe food and wine gifts I had left for Cece had been consumed, but th

horrible experience! My sitter had taken my dog to the dog park, she did not have a leash when bringing her in as I just found out a few weeks agoThe company uses a phone to collect all the messages she sends When my dog bit another she decided to switch phonesAfter the incident she did not report it to the then company *** ***Rover had taken over by the time I had gotten a summons for courtA few weeks agoAnyway I called Rover and they were the ones that said if there was a report than they would cover with the insurance I paid for with my sitterActually I got different answeres with different people and of them hung up on me! I then text the sitter who told me she did report itSo I told her to call Rover and staighten it outShe text me they would call back with in a weekWell low and behold no phone call! Now after I posed a bad review another dog sitter that I had reservations with just emails me to cancel my reservation I have had for months for October! Rover had told me they do not screen any of these people and they are not responsible for their any irresponsible actions! Also the sitter I had with the dog park was supposed to make a report, a wrtitten one thereDid she? Nope, and I have witnesses that told me she was told toWhen I text her of course she lied about it Meanwhile I have a number of other reports that were made of the incidentAll stating she did not bring a leash to the park at all not even in her car! And she is responsible for my dog with no leash? My dog had another tiff before the incident and she did not have sense enough to take my dog out of the park? What kind of dog sitter is that? A totally irresponsible one! And how about Rover giving me multiple different responses, hanging up on me and never calling me back? Horrible way to run a buisness! save your money, Find a responsible sitter for your dogs!

Hi ***, It’s lovely to hear that you’ve found a great dog walkerWe hold all sitters and dog walker on Rover to a high standard and I am sorry to hear that your experience with a different walker has fallen shortWe would like to learn more about your experience to see what next steps we can
takeRover Support is available 24/at 888-453-for further assistanceAll the best,Jenni S

Hello, I recently used the Rover App to book numerous dog walks I hired two walkers named Keira and Rachel I was desperate for a reliable walker because I just had surgery and could not walk at all I had prearranged for a walker who didn’t show up I secured Keira and she did come for every walk and she was on time I paid for numerous minute walksMy dog never got a single minute walkThey ranged from minutes to minutesI contacted Rover support when I finally had the strength (again surgery) and despite my complaints I was told to “work directly with the walker.” That is not my responsibilityI paid for a service and didn’t get it When the second walker, Rachel, came I learned that walkers can send report cards that track the distance and time I asked Keira to send me those in hopes that it would allow for my dog to actually get a full walk, but Keira just sent me a text instead to let me know if my dog went to the bathroom I was stuck with Kiera becaus

Rover.com an online dog-boarding deactivated my profile search on Rover.comWhen dog owners come to Rover's site and choose my profile and book a stay with me, Rover will automatically get a cut of 20% and dog sitters get 80%But during Jan - Jan 15, a dog owner booked thru Rover, but did not confirm or pay, Rover canceled my profile, I did not get my 80% and I took care of the dog for days and called Animal Care and Control to come pick up the dogThe dog has a chip, so the owner was able to retrieve the dog at the shelter, and he came back and apologized to me saying he had a mental meltdownOne of Rover's staff I believe Shey in the billing department sent out a threatening email to me about suspending my profile, because I received cash payment, when in fact I never didRover is accusing me of not being a dog lover enough to be caring for dogs! Thank you so much for mediating my profile to go back up on Rover*** ***

I had a similar experienceIt seems Rover cares more about their pocket book than about the welfare and safety of the dog sitter and the dogs that are being boarded for those that board pets in their homeI have been a sitter on Rover for over two years and recently had my account suspended due to ended a sit one night early due to a dog that was aggressive towards other dogsI was told by the owner that the dog got along with other dogs and the dog couldn't even get along with large sized five month puppies! Second case, I had a similar experience about a month or so before that of a similar owner who said her dog got along with other dogs too, but she told me her dog had never been boarded before and since I was familiar with her breed who tends to have anxiety I wanted to do a trial sit with the puppy I had at the house for a couple of hours to see how it would goWell, she brought the dog over and the dog tried to attack the puppy! So, I said it looks like your dog is too stressed in a boarding environment and is NOT good with other dogs(Hello! That is why I had done a trial sit/daycare)I offered the lady to board her dog alone at a higher rate or to sit in her home and care for the dog there, but she wasn't interestedBoth times, Rover didn't give me any feedback both times! They send you a survey after each cancellation which just asks you if you had a meet and greet and what happened and what would you do next timeThere is certainly no education from them telling you what you should do next time or whateverThey give you no warning that they are going to suspend your account or that you are doing anything wrongIn any event, due to those situations of turning away "aggressive dogs" Rover wanted to terminate their relationship with me as a 5-star sitter who has worked with them over yearsUnbelievable! In my spare time I sometimes volunteer with a local dog trainer so I know when a dog is displaying dangerous signs and the fact that they would rather I keep a dangerous dog in my house while stressing out the other pets that I'm suppose to be caring for is just not only ridiculous, but irresponsible! I told other pets sitters about this and one of my good clients who happens to also be a good friend of mine couldn't believe itIt just goes to show you that they care more about getting the bookings of the sits no matter what the cost isRover.com you should be ashamed of yourself!

I scheduled my dog to stay with a rover sitterMy dog got sick the night before the scheduled day and I contacted the sitter to let her knowShe told me that she would not take himSo I cancelled the sitting through the appI still got charged for the sittingWhen I contacted Rover asking what is their policy on charging the customer even if the sitter refuses to take the dog, they stopped responding to my emailsWhen I called Rover and spoke to them, they refused to tell me what their refund policy is when the sitter refuses to take the dogI asked to speak to a supervisor, they told me that they will not let me speak to a supervisor or anyone elseThey then threatened to hang up on me

We do not believe they vet their sitters fully or take the right action when there are serious complaints.we are recovering from leaving our dogs under the care of one of their sitters.we had to return early from our vacation as we had notification from a concerned neighbor that it appeared that the dog sitter was rarely there and when the neighbor texted the sitter to try to highlight his concerns she said she wasn't going to return at all we had booked her to stay in our house at nightWe came back to find our house heavily soiled and damaged iwith the dogs urine and fecesIt is now under an insurance investigationRover.com have been fully informed of these events but have done nothing to date, to avoid a situation like this happening in the futureShe is still advertised on their web page as available even though I reccomended for the safety of other dogs in the future they should suspend her at least until this investigation has been completedWe travel often and previous to this experience we have had three sitters in consistently over the last yearsOur dogs have always been wonderful and we have never had to report any damage

HorribleSitters recieve no background check to work here, so through the Rover service, I inadvertently let a thief/addict into my home for three daysShe got inebriated, trashed my house, stole items, and starved my dogRover took ZERO responsibility beyond firing the sitter, and this sitter cost me hundreds of dollarsMy dog has just now, after almost weeks, begun to eat normally againRover needs to be FORCED to take responsibilityI'm considering legal actionMy heart aches for those of you whose dogs were killed by sitters employed by this racket

Rover.com does not care about the safety of your pets We booked Henry S*** of Daly City, California through Rover.com to watch our dogs over from Dec20-Jan On the evening of December 31, I received a phone call from Hank asking what he should do because our dogs had serious wounds I asked him to send me pictures, and when I saw the wounds I told him to take the dogs to the Vet ER Rover.com has copies of these pictures, and are aware of the pictures since I discussed them with the "trust and safety specialists" I spoke with My husband spoke with the ER vet that same night, and the ER Vet told him that the dogs had pressure sores from being in a confined spaceWe picked up our dogs the night of Jan1, As I informed your "Trust & Safety Specialists" on January 1, 2019, when we picked up our dogs, they were emaciated, could barely walk, and had horrible pressure sores Additionally, your team has the photos of the pressure sores on our dogs We took our dogs to their regular vet on Jan2, We had taken the dogs to see their vet in Nov2018, who will verify what their weight was, and that they had no sores or other wounds or cuts or scrapes on their skin Both dogs had lost pounds in the days they were with Hank He didn't even pretend to feed them, since most of the food we sent was returned to usFurthermore, both dogs required fluid IV for treatment of dehydrationAnd both the ER Vet and our regular vet agree that the sores on their bodies were recent pressure sores from being in a too small confined space for too longSo it appears that Hank locked our dogs in wire cages for the entire time he was obligated to watch them, and starved our dogs
Yet, despite knowing that Henry S*** has caused serious injury to our dogs, his profile is still on the Rover.com web site, and he is apparently still allowed to book dogsFurthermore, his profile is obviously a complete lie, since it says:
"I am Hank, I work from home full time and have a very flexible schedule to provide care for your pet(s)I am currently starting my own pet boarding and daycare service companyMy goal is to build a solid relationship with every client I meet by providing them with superb serviceYour pet will receive at least walks per day and notification updates every hours- providing status on activities, temperament, food and water consumption
With over years of experience with pets, I promise you that your pet will be in good careYou can contact me via text, email, or callPlease feel free to message me with any questionsLooking forward to meeting you and your pet!"
Hank's profile does not say that he will keep dogs locked up in crates the entire visit Instead, it shows pictures of a nice, clean living room and mentions a fenced in yard If we had known that our dogs would be confined to crates, we would not have hired Henry S*** He also appears to have fake reviews loaded to bury my critical reviewIf you look at his reviews, every time someone complains, reviews that are not from Verified Stays are entered praising himHow are consumers supposed to trust your service if you let fake reviews bury real reviews and give the impression that someone has higher ratings/more dog stays/etc
The Rover.com web site says that less than 20% of potential sitters are accepted, and stresses how consumers can trust you with their petsThis is advertisingIts clear that Rover.com has done nothing to vet its sitters, and cares more about money than the safety and health of the poor pets booked with your sittersIf Rover.com actually cared about the safety of people's pets, it would have pulled Henry S***'s profile by now instead of giving some vague verbiage that Rover.com is doing a "holistic review" of his account." What does that even mean? Have you contacted all the owners of pets who are currently booked with him? Have you demanded to see where he actually is housing the dogs and seen what conditions the dogs are kept in?
We are in process of filing a complaint with Animal control, and the police
