Adams Disaster and Restoration, Inc. Reviews (174)

Adams Disaster & Restoration did a great job fixing my home, I couldn't be happier with their work, honesty, and overall communication and help with the problem that I thought it was necessary to inform others how great this company truly is. I have had other restoration companies at my properties before, and for the most part it went smoothly, however there were issues that occurred, but with Adams there was ZERO.

About two weeks ago my ice machine had leaked while I was at our second home in Flagstaff, when I came home there was water everywhere and the plumber that had came out to my house to fix the ice machine gave me their business card. I gave them a call and they were able to come give me a free estimate. The technician, [redacted], was not pushy at all, however he explained to me how and why it is important to take care of the water damage because of all the problems that can happen if I don't. They were able to get the water damage fixed quickly and properly. Very good experience.

Review: Adam's Restoration email sent to the manager by the name of [redacted] explains most of it. Adam's originally came out October 27, 2014. The repairs should have been completed by Christmas, to be considerate. They were promised to be completed just before or just after Thanksgiving, 2014.

1/23/2015

Good Day [redacted],

I was told to contact you in regards to the money that I owe Adam's. I have attached a drawing I made for the repair of my kitchen island. On this drawing, the kitchen island is ONLY the 80x32x42ht area with the sink shown, that your company tore out.

Since Adam's/[redacted] has deliberately caused the delay in reconstruction of my kitchen island and lied to [redacted] as to the floor plan dimensions and total layout of my kitchen as well as charged a ridiculous amount of money for tearing out my island, I have decided to renegotiate the charges that you require of me. My delay was because I have been on medical leave since December 8, 2014 thru January 22, 2015 when I have now returned part time to work still waiting for my final p[redacted]edure.

First of all, there are several duplicate charges, some that do not pertain to me, some of them are duplicates, and some put on there that were not even done. I have edited the charges and added notes to the list, and attached it to this email. If you cannot read it, I will retype and submit what line items were not done, which ones are charged multiple times, and the ones that were done but charged as an emergency. Please note that this was NOT AN EMERGENCY! Also, the drawings/dimensions on the bill are not close to how my actual kitchen is laid out. Your drawing of my kitchen island alone says 23'-11" (actual is 80") x 6'-4"-8'-9" (actual 32"). These dimensions you provided to [redacted] are extremely exaggerated and just not true. I have sent photos in my previous emails to you. If you need more, I can send more.

Please understand that Sam promised me that he would get all of this repaired of what they tore down within one month. He said 2-3 weeks depending on insurance response. He abandoned me. When he was here, he would not give me an estimate of what I would be charged and I asked a few times. He also said he would have his guys repair my roof. I found an honest roofer who started the repair one week after his estimate. Why can't I trust all people in business? I should be able to, don't you think?

When Sam was here I was in extreme pain that stems from injuries in multiple areas of my spine. He seemed so sincere and I really liked him, so I trusted him. Shame on me. I have since then gotten several p[redacted]edures done, seen 3 surgeons and 2 specialists. To think, I can get all that done is 6 weeks in pain only because my son took me to the doctors. You would think I could get a reputable company to do the repairs they promised. Because of my medical condition before Thanksgiving, over Christmas and New Years, I was not able to get quotes on the repair of my kitchen. I am still in the p[redacted]ess of getting quotes to repair my kitchen because of my medical condition. This has caused me so much time, aggravation, additional pain because of stress and shame because I have been ripped off. I don't know if all of the people in this company does business like this, all of the time, but I have already heard a story about an elderly couple Adam's did this same thing to, as well.

Right now, I am struggling to see what I should do about this. I am anxious to hear your response.

I have estimated what I owe you and that is between $600 & $760. Let me know what you come up with. See attached for a hand written, corrected copy of what you sent [redacted] called "Adam's Invoice"Desired Settlement: The above "Tell us about the Problem" describes most of it. I believe that I do not owe them $2000 as requested. If I can, before I finish this I hope to attach all pertinent information.

This is an email sent to their Accounting Department

No, the $2000 is not acceptable. After talking to other contractors I have found out that the price of removing the 6' x 4' kitchen island is an extreme price for labor. I am awaiting a quote from a company who is installing/replacing the damage you left.

I would like to make a good faith payment in the amount of $500 until I get the quote from the company. His hard drive crashed and is currently recovering from that hardship.

Please send me an appropriate address to send the installment of $500.

Thank you for your time and patience in this complicated situation.

I am also currently gathering pertinent information to submit to the registrar of contractors in regards to the improper handling of a business contract.

AND

Just for documentation purposes/proof that this "tub" was not installed properly and that it leaks. I have attached photos of what was installed and how I have had to rig it up to prevent further leaking. If slightly bumped, it leaks more. I have asked multiple times to a young man that answered the phone and to the office manager over the past 3 months to have someone stop by and correct the improper instalment. If this "tub".

Your company put me in an extreme situation because of my physical incapabilities caused by my spine, I was unjustifiably taken vantage of and thrown away. It is causing an undue hardship on me and my son since late October 2014.

We cannot use this tub but for extreme necessity to wash pans. I do not have the garbage disposal or dishwasher hooked up of course. At least I have a little running water if I am careful. It is hard enough to stand on my own with out leaning on something, let alone wash a few dishes in that tub. If u need medical records to prove this I can provide them to you. It has caused me to have to order food instead of cooking. I love to cook and it saves me a lot of money and calories. It tastes better too. I cannot do that very easily now. I grill out sometimes but that gets old too. I have to eat out more now and it is financially draining.

I don't know why Sam and your company would do this to anyone. He could have just left and given us a quote. It was not an emergency. I don't understand how anyone could be this cruel. He promised me everything would be replaced as far as the center Island was concerned within a few week, without any problem. I never heard from him again. I had to call him after 3 weeks. Not even a reassuring word that he was working on it. He didn't like the fact that he wouldn't be able to replace all of the cupboards because it was difficult to match my old ones. Whatever, just communicate. We could have worked together on this.

Now I cannot trust Adams and the community should know. It hurts me every day. I am going thru spine p[redacted]edures and constant pain. If it wasn't for Sam lying, I would not be in this predicament. Nothing can come out of being cruel and speaking lies to others. I hope he can turn his life around and learn something from this. I talked to a contractor and he knew of an elderly couple that he did the same thing to.

How can you allow this to go on? You should be ashamed. What goes around comes around and you will probably feel it before you die and maybe afterwards.

God help you. I can forgive you, but....?

See attached. Note the water that gathered by piping. It is doing more harm

Response:

I am responding to complaint [redacted]. First thing I want to say is, I am so sorry for all of the medical problems Ms. [redacted] is having. There are a lot of people going through medical problems and it is sad. We try to work as fast as we can to help people in need and work around their schedule. Sometimes it is out of our hands. It depends on the customer, insurance, dry out time, testing, etc. We did not just leave Ms. [redacted] hanging. Some of the time depends on her availability and Insurance. Her recon/repairs is totally different than what we did. We did not do her recon or repairs. The customer can go with their choice for recon.

My hot water heater leaked in my garage a few weeks ago. My plumber came out to change the water heater and due to the water that leaked I called Adams D&R to repair the water damage. This is the second time they have been out to my property and both times they did a great job. My plumber was the one who referred them to me the first time and we had them come out for this issue as well. Really impressed with their work, communication, and professionalism.

I wanted to take a moment to write a review about this company due to their efforts to go above and beyond what was expected. Adams D&R had came out to repair multiple issues that a plumbing company (which, I prefer to leave anonymous) had created at my home while fixing a toilet problem. This company did the job for free, and I was shocked because they didn't have anything to even do with creating the repairs in the first place, and even treated me as if I were a paying customer. You would assume that in relations to the scenario, that they would completely forget about me and/or their service would not be very great or done in a timely manner. After this company fixed all the problems at my home, a few months later I had called them out to my property to fix the water damage that had created in my guest home due to the rain. They did a great job once again, with no hassle, and would recommend them to family and friends. Great company by far, very pleased with their quality of work and reliability.

I would highly recommend this company to anyone with any sort of restoration work that needs to be done. My daughter who currently is attending ASU, had a really bad backup at her condo with sewage coming out of two bathrooms. We were referred by Adams a few years ago when we had an overflowing toilet at our family residence and we were very pleased with them back then so we decided to have them out to fix her place when this happened. They had moved and packed all her furniture, electronics, decorations, etc. without any damages. They had everything fixed in a timely manner and did the entire job, both the water and reconstruction. We are very pleased with this company and it was nice to know that we could trust them with our daughter and her property because of our prior experience.

My water heater leaked into my garage and a bedroom and caused water damage the first week in December. Adam's restoration came in, pulled out the damaged dry-wall in the garage and flooring in my bedroom and brought a few heaters and dehumidifiers. About 4-5 days later they removed the heaters and dehumidifiers and said that someone will come in to do the repairs. After a few days I never heard from them so I gave them a call. A week later an adjustor came out and gave quotes to my insurance company. Another week goes by and they came out and finally did the dry-wall repair in the garage and painted the garage. I called about the repairs in the bedroom and spoke to a receptionist that said they are still working on it and that she would call me back. She never called me back. So I called back a week later and she still had no information for me about the repairs in the bedroom and told me again she would call me back. She never called me. I gave up calling since they told me three times they would call me back and they never did. It is now mid February and the damages are still not repaired. There was a big gap in communication with the receptionist and the repair people. I was always told I would get a call back and no one ever called. Poor customer service.

A supply line in my kitchen broke and I had called a plumber I found online, I told him the situation and he notified me that he couldn’t get to my house right away because he was on his way to another call, but said I needed to call Adams, a restoration company, due to the severity of water damage that I had explained to him over the phone. Tucker showed up 30 minutes after I got off the phone with their office, he was able to start right away and even had created access for the plumber, making his job easier and the timing faster. He got me covered by my insurance over the phone and within 2 weeks my kitchen looked amazing and was up in running again. I had never used the plumber of Adams before, but I am glad that it worked out the way it did, everything was easy and fell right in place.

Review: Adams Disaster and Restoration was hired to clean up and repair water damage caused by a plumbing issue. We were given a "scope of work" from our insurance. We gave them our insurance payment of $5,174.24. Not all of the work was completed by Adams. I have been trying to communicate with them since 12-4-2015 , I would like the "rest" of my money back for the work they did not complete. They are not contacting me, or giving me a break down of charges. I am fine paying what I owe for what little work was done which according to the "Scope of Work" provided by our insurance was $996.00 and 5 hours of labor. I would like the rest of my money back. They are just holding and , with no communication, and refusal to provide a break down or refund.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund for the work that was not completed. A refund in the amount of $3,200.00 is very fair on their end I am actually owed more but will settle, and just want this to be over with.

ADAMS DISASTER AND RESTORATION, INC.[redacted] P [redacted] FTo Whom It May Concern,This is in response to complaint #[redacted]. I ended up talking to our customer after they came to our office to find out about the refund. I actually spoke with them on January 7th. I let them know that I would follow up and check on the account. The refund was for the portion of the work that we did not do. After reviewing the account and checking with our accountant, we did a refund check. I wish I had been notified by our office that they wanted a refund sooner. I did start looking in to the situation and made sure our customer got the refund. They were both very nice and I appreciate them being so kind. When I last spoke with the customer they were pleased and the account was closed. I have also informed our office that all refunds are to be brought to my attention. I understand a customer wanting a refund as quickly as possible. It was a pleasure meeting Darla and I appreciate her allowing us to do work for her. Adams does appreciate our customers and them allowing us to do work for them. We are a company that actually cares and will help our customers in any way possible. Please feel free to contact Adams if you have any questions.Sincerely,Adams Disaster and Restoration

ALMOST ALL OF THERE GOOD REVIEWS ARE FAKE THIS IS A REAL REVIEW FROM A REAL CUSTOMER AND REAL EXPERIENCE WITH ADAMS DISASTER AND RESTORATION

this business could not be more of a scam than they are. they sent out a trainee which called and made an appointment with my home warranty and everything was fine up until the next day when the manager ( [redacted]) came out and explained that the trainee made a mistake and made it through the home warranty not the home insurance and he took the machine and said he would take care of it . well about a week goes by and I get an invoice for 550 dollars.......... long story short I called and spoke with 3 different people at all different times because they kept calling and all of them said they would take care of it because they were at fault for sending out a trainee and scheduling the payment through my home warranty not my home insurance which is a huge difference in deductibles. well about 2 or 3 months goes by and now I get another invoice from them and I called them and now they say that it was a misunderstanding and they need the payment.... worse experience with a business and I would highly recommend you do not use either company. rooter hero plumbing or adams d&r.

you can tell when a business is posting on yelp to make there rating better and well not only can you tell by looking at the reviews that the bad ones are by real customers and the good ones are from them.

do not use adams d&r resotration

When it started getting warm I decided it was about time to turn my AC back on for the summer. When I woke up the next morning I had noticed a puddle of water on my floor as well as water running down the wall coming from the AC unit. I called my brother, who owns his own AC company and he took care of the AC issue, however he also suggested that I give his buddy, [redacted] a call, in regards to fixing the damage that the water had created from the leak. [redacted] came out with one of his technicians, helped me file a claim, and got the ball rolling. A few days later, I came to realize that my hot water heater was leaking and I contacted my plumber who, I have been using for years, who swapped out my h2o heater and referred me to a restoration company to fix the water damage that it created, I told him that I am very happy with the one that is currently working with me right now on another issues, so I called [redacted] again and he helped me file a second claim, and had one of his technicians to my property within the hour to fix the stand the heater sits on and dry out all of the other remaining areas that got wet. The plumber was exceptionally impressed with the way Adams handled the issue and how professional they were that he asked me for their information so he could learn more about the company and possibly start referring his customers out to them when needed instead of the company he is currently using.

Review: On or about May 26, 2015 we found out that our hot water heater had leaked water in our garage, our laundry room, adjacent bedroom and closet. We called our home warranty company who sent out "[redacted]"plumbing company which took seven days to get a hot water heater replaced. Lol. the plumber than recommended Adams Disaster & restoration, Inc and he called them, and they called me back and can out late that night cut out and pulled up the wet carpet in the bedroom and closet. They set up three sets of machines to dry out the walls etc. they stopped by for the next three days checking the machines. on the third day they remove them from my home, and sent another gentleman(the project manager) out with some blank paper work for me to sign in which I refused to sign until they were filled out. upon signing these papers I was told to call the scheduling office to set up the time to do this work. I called and I was told that they would have to move some of my tools and items that was in the garage. So on, or about 5/27/15 they sent [redacted] (packout) and for two and a half days they pack up and box up a one load of shop supplies, and automotive tools that I use to work with to supplement my income to an unknown storage and they still remain there as of this date 07/13/15. they continued to promise start dates and would not show up, they finally sent a young man out and he cut out the portions of the dry wall that needed to be replaced, and took out the cabinets that was damaged in which I advised the project manager that I didn't want to replace because they took up too much space. he told me that, that's good because the cabinets would take the majority of the time in getting this job done, he then told me with work they had to do it would take 3-4 days to complete. hanging the sheet rock, mud it and give it a day to dry and come back and sand and paint, and do the molding/base boards and then the carpet. Every week there is a new promise, and nothing happens, in between time they have been paid $. 3,164.27 on 6/23/15, and 1,758.00 on 6/26/15,after numerous phone calls, text messages and emails someone finally called me back and said that they would have someone out possibly that Friday June 19th, but for sure June 23, and 24, no one came, no one called, and when I finally got in touch with the project manager he told me as if he was surprised that the job should have been finished, and that he would call the office and someone would call me back in a few minutes I waited until the next day and no one called, so I called him back, and he told me he did not understand what was going on he was going to called the office and again and someone would be giving me a call, I told him that's what you told me yesterday and his response was I'll call you back myself. he indeed called me back with another promise that did not happen. finally was called I believe on the 27th of June and was told that someone would be out on the 29th at 9:ooam a nice young man showed up at around 10:am looked at the project and said that they did not explain to him how much he had to do and that he had to go to Lowes to get materials he got back at apporx 12:30 pm worked to 4;)) pm and said that they were sending him to another job to help another worker and that he would see me on Tuesday and Wednesday. he didn't show up on Tuesday, around noon I call the office and left a message and no one returned the call so I texted the worker and he told me that they had sent him on another job, again I called and complained and they sent him out again and he worked until about 2:00pm and said that it was his fiancée's birthday and he had plans to do something with her. the next time he came was on 7/7/15 at approx. 11:00am and he had to leave early to pick up his kid from day care and he told me that he would see me in the morning 7/8/15 between 9-10am and again he didn't show up, again I texted him asking him about him not showing up and he texted me back again telling me that the person in the office was supposed to have called me and let me know that they had sent him to Goodyear to work for the day and I have not seen him since. so again I called the office and was told that they would get back in touch with me, and again they didn't, so I sent an email, they answered, and apologized and said that they had ordered the carpet and pad, and I was called by their carpet people (who I believe is the same folks) and they promised me that they would be at my house Monday at approx. 1:pm and they never showed up either, so I called them around 3:00pm asking why no one had showed up and the lady says let me call my carpet tech, and I will call you right back. and she hasn't, so I emailed Adam Disaster & Restorations no response. My family, and myself have been trying navigate around and through furniture and many other items that have been moved out of the places that they currently suppose to have been done working in. the dry wall needs to be sanded and painted, the base boards needs to be caulked and painted and the carpet installed, and I'm in desperate need of my tools.Desired Settlement: Finished to job as soon as possible, or refund me the money that they have received. we have been inconvenienced for

much too long for the amount of work that needs to be done.

Response:

To Whom It May Concern:I am responding to the complaint ID# [redacted]. I have spoken with our customer to address his complaint. He assured me that the Water Restoration portion of the job was completed to his satisfaction. We sometimes have two separate divisions in this industry. Most of the time we do the water mitigation and a lot of times we do water and recon. The water mitigation is billed separate from the recon. Most insurances require two separate billings. We always go by industry standards and bill with a program most insurances use. The reason we use insurance pricing is so that our customers prices are set by the insurance and they get fair pricing. The insurance usually pays us for the water mitigation and our customer for the reconstruction. We always meet with an insurance adjuster or wait for approval from the insurance before starting some demos or reconstruction. We do this to protect our customers and ourselves. Sometimes it takes longer on some jobs than others depending on the insurance approval, if there is custom ordering, and unpredictable circumstances out of our control. In this case, somethings were out of our control. We are still waiting for the Carpet Company to get the special ordering of carpet in. The Carpet Company did not show up when they were supposed to and did not get the carpet ordered soon enough. I know that when ordering carpet it Can take longer than planned. We are going with a new company that hopefully we can relyon. I told our customer that I will call him regarding the carpet. I will call him tomorrow with an update. There was miscommunication on our part. Our superintendent should have taken the responsibility to make sure our customer was taken care of. We are not a small company and have a large volume of work. We try very hard to make sure our customers are taken care of and are happy. Most customers expect and want things done immediately, but when it comes to reconstruction there are a lot of factors that play a part that customers do not realize and is out of our control. We try to complete the job as quickly as possible and want to make sure it is quality work. I personally spoke with our customer and apologized for the miscommunication. I wish that customers would call and ask to speak with someone in charge if there is a problem. Adams cares about our customers and works hard to make sure they are not taken advantage of and treated fairly. We have informed our employees that we want to know if a customer has a concern so that it can be address and not get to this point. We have a lot of customers that are happy with our service. A lot of customers will use us again because they know we will be fair and go the extra mile for them. Adams does go the extra mile for customers. We actually help customers that most restoration companies won't do. We take great pride in being fairand not taking advantage of people. Our customers are important and they rely on us and give us our business. Adams wants to be there to help our customers and make them happy. Our name means a lot to us and we want to be known as a company who cares and is there for our customers.I have personally spoken with our customer and told him that I will keep in touch with him to make sure he is taken care of. Our customer was very nice and I appreciate him taking the time to speak with me. I will personally be in contact with our customer to make sure he is taken care of.Adams is proud to be of service to our customers. We want our customers to be able to come to us with any questions and concems. We are here to provide a service to our customers and to try and make this type of situation better. Please feel free to contact me if there are any questions.Sincerely,Adams Disaster and Restoration

Consumer

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

To whom this may concern; This job was finished 08/01/15, it began 05/26/15. the problem was not an insurance problem, the insurance adjuster responded immediately, and the funds were available and disbursed as soon as I received them, in which I have copies of ins. checks along with personal check and bank statement, the real problem was having someone here long enough to finish to finish the job in a timely manner, no shows or leaving to go on another job, or sending employee to gostart another job, and no communication at all with the customer even after the customer attempts to communicate with the business office and contract worker. also I did indeed move up the chain in trying to get some one interested enough in me and my family's needs. on more than one occasions I was told that someone would be there on a certain day and no one would show up. this was a small sheet rock/paint job, 3-4 days at the most, 2 feet of sheet rock along the one wall in the garage, the wash room, and a small closet plus two walls in the adjacent small bed room along with some base boards, we agreed not to replace the cabinets, and I believe that because it wasn't a large job I repeatedly got put on the back burner. After all this time, almost two months no one in this "Large Business" though about the carpet until they decided that they were done. A that time they sent a guy out to lay the carpet, and he came out with the impression that he was suppose to laythe old carpet in which they, themselves ripped out and hauled away. It was not the carpet company's fault. they were given the wrong instructions from the beginning, and at that point they could not find the carpet locally, and there forth they had order it. it took 4 or 5 days to get the carpet in, and on that Saturday morning August 01, 2015 the carpet company came out and installed the carpet. As I read the response to my complaint I found it to be illusive. there were inclusive and general statementsmade or given to what sometimes happens without taking owner ship of what they didn't do, or should have done. " scape goat" there is no good reason why it took me from 05/26/15 until 08/01/15 to get done what was done!!! And NO I would never, ever used this company again, and NO I would never, ever recommend this company to anyone, and if I knew anyone that was considering using them I would definitely encourage them to go elsewhere...

Regards.

I was referred to Adams Disaster and Restoration July 2015 when a pipe broke in my bathroom. While they were quick to come out to dry out the bathroom and pull everything out, they took their time on restoring my bathroom. Many calls of saying someone was coming out to perform work and I would either take off of work or work from home, but no one would show up and without a heads up until I called them. This went on for over a month. Mind you, I live in a one bedroom condo and this was my only bathroom. Finally the ball began rolling and my bathroom started being restored...but with very unprofessional workers who had no idea what they were doing. It appeared Adams was short staffed so they would pull workers from other jobs to satisfy the customers who were complaining about work not being done. Then workers would show up not even knowing what they were doing. My drywall had to be redone because it was attempted by someone who had no idea what they were doing...it was lumpy...who wants lumpy walls?? And the same guy installed my tile...afterwards he tells me it was his first tiling job. Well, I can tell you, it definitely looked that way. My grout is crumbling and coming up...the tile isn't cut straight, a one piece is even cracked. They wanted to send someone out to fix it; however, with the experience I've had with them, I want no more of their cheap unprofessional laborers to step one foot in my home. So they claim began in mid-July and ended in September. Now they say I owe more money. Well, I cut corners on the vanity, etc so they definitely pocketed a lot of money. They won't send me an itemized bill for what I owe, they just keep hounding me for payment over the phone. I am now dealing with my insurance to have this resolved. Please do not ever use Adams Disaster and Restoration, Inc...they are a nightmare to deal with and do horrible work.

Worse contractor my mom has ever used. They started her kitchen project in September and it still not complete, as a matter fact she recently hired a new contractor. They don't show up for scheduled appointments and don't even bother to call. They tried to modify the design of her cabinets, before checking with her. Oh by the way they told her that's the way they were before the water damage. Terrible workmanship. No customer care from the owner down to the workers. Save yourself the headaches get another contractor!

The last thing I thought I'd be coming home to after a long day at work would be a flooded bottom floor at my home due to my hot water heater bursting. Naturally I panicked and called the first plumber I could find online and had them come out to my property, and the second they walked in and stepped on my soaking flooring they immediately said they needed to call a restoration company to my property and have my insurance information ready. Adams D&R showed up within 30 minutes of the plumbers call, they helped me file the claim and made everything a breeze. This was the first claim I ever filed and the first time I ever had any sort of issue like this sort at my property. They did a great job from the dry out to the rebuild, and were able to get my claim covered and everything that was damaged, as well as even helped by taking care of half of my deductible which was a huge relief of stress for me, especially because of the my current financial situation. Everyone from the office to the technicians were very knowledgable, kind, and communicated greatly with me. I am very happy with the outcome and thankful for this company for all their hard work and helping me get my home back together in such an effortless manner on my part. I just want to acknowledge my greatfulness and appreciatation!
