Affordable Dentures Reviews (158)

Revdex.com Case #[redacted]

After review of patient file, we have come to the conclusion that patient will not listen to what she is being told.
Her file is documented as having her tooth removed in November 2013 not 2003 as she specified in her...

complaint.
She has also been informed several times what she needed and the cost, she refuses to follow doctor's advice. She
has some uneven natural teeth which does not allow us to lengthen her partial teeth as she is asking us to do, she has
been told this as well.

Patient may contact our office and receive a refund for $259.00, she must return the partial at time of refund.

Thank You,

Dr. [redacted]

They went above and beyond when taking care of the repair. The repair itself looked brand new and you couldn't tell where the damage had been. They also cleaned the inside of my car. I am very impressed with O'Neill's Body Shop. I would recommend them to everyone.

Back in Oct 2014 I went to Affordable dentures for a screen for top and bottom partial. I got my regular exam and some filling done per their requestI was fitted and paid for top and bottom partial. After several trips with trouble with the denture fitting in my mouth properly Dr. [redacted] had the tech to come out and look at the fitting. When I smiled for him and complained that it was to much product and the actual teeth made could not be seen. The technician was very rudely said "who smiles like that" any way. The technician that was helping on each visit acted as if I was putting them out while I was trying to get what I paid for. I was so out done that I told Dr. [redacted] how unhappy I was with the money I was paid and how their technician was handling this issue. I paid $1500 for the dentures. When they tested my teeth the top meeting the bottom They had the seen that it was not meeting properly. I have about (3)three to (4)four teeth missing on the right side(they gave me (1) one short tooth) and (2)two teeth missing on the left side (I was given (1) one large toothwere made on the side)The metal brace attached to the left tooth gives me so much pain. when I pull it off it scrapes my tooth. It is not way that the staff at this faculty is interested in satisfying the customer. I felt like once I gave them my money the product they produced they did nit stand by itDesired SettlementI am seeking full refund for my bottom partial. The partial does not do my any good. By the quality of service rendered and personal responsibility shown and can not see going back to try to reconcile would be beneficial to me. I had gone back (3) three times taking days off work. To try to get some compassion to make it work but I felt that the staff were not try work it out. It was no way they think (1)one short tooth could work properly for (3) three and they had to see it. Over the past couple of weeks I have been trying to work it out until I realized it on (1) one short tooth food was sliding through on the right side. Then the pain of the metal scarping my tooth on the left side.I would like my money so I can go to a dentist that accommodate my needs. Affordable denture mission: To provide affordable denture services and dental care that are delivered with compassion, dignity and respect for all patients.I did not get that part I found no compassion, dignity and respect for all patients. They are nice people. But when you take peoples money They should be given the quality product and service we pay for and not at the discretion the technician but by the person paying. Thanks so much for your help!Business Response To Whom It May Concern,Ms. [redacted] came into our practice on October 29,2014 to have Upper/Lower Partials made. Patient had additional dental concerns that required her to have completed by her General Dentist as it is not a service we provide at our office. Ms. [redacted] returned on 11/20/14 after having work completed by her Dentist to start treatment. Patient was aware the type of partials she requested required about 3 weeks to make. On 12/16/14 Patient was given multiple try ins prior to partials being made to insure the patient is satisfied. On 12/16/14 she signed the consent form approving to have the partials finalized. Patient returned on 12/30/14 for delivery. As of date, she has not returned for any free unlimited adjustments as it is not uncommon for patients to have after receiving a new appliance. We encourage her to return to our office so that we may be able to consult and make any necessary adjustments. Consumer Response I signed a consent to accept the partials with the understanding the problems would be fixed. The multiple try was a result of in correct fitting. Dr. [redacted] had to have the final partial re-done. It was so plain to see if you replace (1) one tooth to cover for (3) three. So their statement are not very true. Each time I came to be fitted was due to the product was not right. Which time I had to take off work. My dental work prior to getting the partial were for removing a tooth and getting some fillings. I care not to return because they have had (3) times to correct this problem and they I have not and did not display and interest in correcting the problem the partial. As a consumer we are put at a disadvantage because we have to pay upfront. Affordable Dentures once I paid the money for the service they showed no interest in the appearance of their product nor how it would benefit me. I can not use this partial. It can cost me up to $300.00 a day to keep going back and forth. This is not a matter of adjustment. The partial is no good.I would like my money back they are not even being honest about the number of trips I have had to come back. Thanks for your time.

Im very disapointed in how I am being treated with this company! They are theives, and very unprofessional and should be shut down!!I went to this company a year and a half ago to get dentures made. I sat down with Dr. [redacted] and told him what I wanted done. Well after everything was talked about I was told I had to pay 2,000$ before any work was done. Well I was given a date to return to have Dr. [redacted] pull my teeth and fit me with dentures then a perment set later on. Well when I arrived and was being seen I was told I couldnt have my teeth pulled due to my high blood pressure. I had to get my blood pressure right before going back. Well I asked for a Refund on half my money back for the pulling of the teeth. After a year I then came back to get my dentures they had made me a year ago. Well I got fitted with donkey like teeth!! I expressed that I was HIGHLY disatisfied with the look and fit of both my upper and lower set! They attempted a poorly done job of trying to fix ragidy teet. They then put back in my mouth and swore up and down that they fixed the problem which they obiviously didnt do.they sent me out of there with huge uneven donkey teeth. It wasnt 5 mins after I left my gums where bleeding cause if their dentures. I came back that following monday and nothing was done. I then asked for a full refund but was told I was only getting $455 back cause they had made my dentures from a year ago. I have been calling and calling even called the corporate head people to try and get my refund and I have been lied too over and over again. I want my money back ALL OF IT! ALL 1000.00$ OF IT BACK. They should not be allowed to rip off poor people and get away with it. I worked my tail off to get up the money to pay to have it done just to be disapointed and lied too!!Desired SettlementI want my $1,000.00 back I paid for dentures I cant even wear!Business Response To Whom It May Concern,Our office has tried unsuccessfully to address the concerns and complaints of Ms.[redacted]. Ms. [redacted] came into our office on 05/15/2012 and has not returned or contacted us until 07/22/2013. She advised us on this date that she had Dental work completed at another location and did not return to complete treatment with our office. We gave her options on recommended treatment and pricing options which would be more cost effective for her versus having more expensive treatment completed due to her aesthetic concerns. She left our office and did return again until 08-09-13 for adjustments to her Denture. She then came in on 10-08-13 advising that she had additional treatment completed at her General Dentist. She requested a refund of the treatment amount for services she did not want to complete. Our office processed a refund for her however; due to patient services paid by someone other than her we were not immediately able to refund. The original credit card used for treatment was closed. We advised Ms. [redacted] that we were trying our best to refund her but due to the credit card not being available, we would have to submit a refund by check. The refund was issued on 10-30-13 after verification was complete of the closed credit card account.

requested premium upper denture. office demands payment upfront in full. dr could not make denture,3 failed attempts, improper fit and appearance requested premium upper denture. after checked in was called back in about an hour and thirty minute wait. dentist approached me (name not given, no introduction given)She wanted to use the temporary ill fitting denture that was crooked to start my process. I requested that she not but she insisted that it would be better than the generic tray(her words exactly)because the generic tray was large.I knew it was going down hill at this point because she did not make any marking as to the center point of my gum line for front teeth to be placed accurately. This was the first attempt. I was told it would be an hour wait and that I could not have my temporary denture to put back in my mouth. Was told to go to the window on my way out as they demanded payment in full before any work started. I asked her about that and told her that I did not feel comfortable doing so, what if they are not what I paid for. She said they would make them right. I was not expecting it to be a case of "they could not fit me" ... with a great uncomfortable feeling I paid $665 for the premium denture and left the office to try to get something to eat as I felt weak and shaky. Needless to say I could not eat without my temporary denture (they kept it and would not let me have it)I returned to the office in an hour as requested and just at that moment I was called back for wax try in. Just as I thought it was very very very bad. The teeth was not uniform and not the right shape of teeth for the type of tooth spot. The center line was way off as they did not mark it in the wax mock up. The left side was longer than the right side and just horrible. Again I don't know their names but the lady acted a little aggravated and said wait for the dr. The dr came over and tried to act like well...it's ok it doesn't look bad?? She removed it and said that she would have the technician move the teeth up on the left side and the center teeth moved more toward the center of the front of my mouth to match up with my nose and the skin thing that is under your lip that marks the center of your upper front of your gum.I was told that they usually don't do more than one trial fit but it was a slow day and they would do it again. She still ignored my suggestion of taking another mold with the generic tray to get a better fit as to the fact that she noticed the crooked temporary denture and she remarked that my gums had shrunk a whole lot compared to the way it fit. She tried to do a marking on the wax for the center of the front of my teeth? Gave it back to technician for another wax try in. Went back out front for about 40 minutes and was called back, same thing but just not as long on the left side but still crooked and wrong size teeth, still too long on the left side and not fitting. She removed the wax try in and did a couple of "strikings" to mark bite?? she said to stay in exam chair and wait right there. She had another technician and the lady that checked me in come and look at it in my mouth. she gave it back to technician and wasn't gone very long at all and the lady that checked me in came back with the wax try in and put it in my mouth and I swear to you it was the same thing. They could not have done anything to it because they weren't gone long enough to do anything to it. At this time the dr said that they could not make the denture and that I would have to come back at 2 and do another tray but it would not be done today that I would have to come back to Durham and try again that another more artistic technician would be available the next day. I explained to her that I did not want to pursue having them make the denture and that I could not return as I had to go to work. I was in tears at this time. the lady that checked me in was really aggressive at this point and I asked for my money back. she said I could not get my money back? She went to the back and when she returned she told me that I had 2 choices.either return the next day/pay lab fee. I left crying!Desired SettlementI am requesting a full refund of my $665 because I did not get a denture at all!! The payment was made upfront as demanded by them to have them make and deliver a premium denture. The payment was not made to have them try and make and try to deliver a premium denture. They are not entitled to any of the $665.I need my $665 to go somewhere else that will make a proper fitting denture. I pray that this will be justified and that my money will be properly given back to me immediately.Business Response To Whom It May Concern,Ms. [redacted] requested a refund after 3 try in attempts to get appliance to patient satisfaction.Patient is unhappy with the esthetics Patient was advised that we could have another technician to reset and correct area which patient expressed concern. Patient still declined and requested a full refund. Spoke with the doctor and he advised that there would be a $75 lab fee due to the work almost completed. I spoke with patient by phone on 04/16/2014 and advised of the refund minus $75. I mailed a agreement and release form to patient home address and advised her that once we received the signed return form we will issue a refund. Patient is more than welcome to return to office to complete denture process.Consumer Response Business required full payment up front before any work done. They could care less if I was satisfied and did not try to make improvements. I paid fee for custom appliance and they were unable to make it. They became aggravated and was telling me that they usually don't do this many fittings?? It did not matter to them that it was substandard and ill fitting and a farce to look at. I don't understand why they would think that I would make another trip to allow them to try and make a "custom" if they could not do it at my initial visit. They don't take time and like I said in initial complaint they demand money up front! Full payment upfront! It was a mistake to go there and as a customer requesting what they call "custom" and having had paid for "custom" should get all my money refunded because I did not get "custom" Did not get a form and and the only form that I will sign is in agreement of full refund because I don't have what I paid for. Will persue any avenue available to me to get my money back. Will not leave this alone untill full refund is given back to me. I have since gone back to my real dentist and have had an extensive fitting that entailed several different things having to be done to get a proper fit. I need my full refund back and am requesting full refund.

I paid 500.00 for dentures, top and bottom. The top dentures are so thick you can not wear them. The bottom dentures has a ridge on it the will not I went on Monday, went on tuesday, went on wed. the staff all tell you something different. They look at the dentures and ask did you have them made here. The person on the front desk want you to keep repeating the same thing you told her when you went in. Then the staff want you to buy the package. I bought dentures that I can not wear. Will the package make them wearable. I went there on Monday Aug, 10, 2015. I have not been able to wear the dentures over 30 minutes. Once the glue wears off the dentures rise and pop out. Desired SettlementI would like my money for the dentures so I can go some where else and get dentures I can wear. That will not hurt.

Affordable Dentures made a partial upper denture for me on Tuesday, September 9, 2014. I tried them and was not able to speak due to the thickness of them. The next day I took them back, and they were only able to make a minor adjustment to the thickness. I still was not able to speak clearly. I asked for a refund and was told that since the dentures were made for me, they would not refund any of my money. I paid $315 for a partial that I can't use.Product_Or_Service: Partial Upper DentureDesired SettlementI am a teacher's assistant in the public school system, and $315 is a lot of money for me. I am requesting a full refund since I am not able to use the denture at all for its intended purpose. I used 1 1/2 days of work time for nothing.Business Response Affordable Dentures offers several types of Dentures and Partials. Patients are able to select the Denture/ Partial based on their financial needs. Each Denture/ Partial is explained to every patient as the appliances are custom made to fit the structure of their mouth. Patients are also shown display models to show the possible look of each appliance. We explain that our Economy Partial is acryllic based and can feel a little thick in the mouth. Patients are given other options to select Dentures/ Partials that they can custom themselves. With any appliance the patient must allow time for their mouth to get adjusted to wearing. We offer free adjustments for the lifetime of the appliance. Ms. Blount did sign a form stating she understood the Economy Denture she selected could not be customized. She selected this appliance based on her financial needs. She is always welcomed to come back in for free adjustments as needed.Consumer Response Unbelievable!!! "...can feel a little thick in the mouth". I CANNOT EVEN TALK WITH THESE THICK DENTURES IN MY MOUTH. I sound like [redacted], and I am a teacher's assistant. I MUST be able to talk to my students. By the way, how am I to custom them myself. I am not in the denture-making business. That's why I came to the "professionals". I am going to report you to the [redacted]. You all ripped me off.

I visted affordable dentures to have a tooth extracted but was refused for boggus reason. I had a tooth extracted by the same office 2 years earlier and returned on thier advise to have the other tooth removed, but the Dr. would not even take exrays for further analays for boggus reason'sProduct_Or_Service: dentistryDesired SettlementI want reembursment gas money for the trip to his office, as I had called the day before over the phone and registered & waited 4 hrs in his office, just to be turned away when I sat in his chairBusiness Response The patient in the captioned case presented at the Durham office and demanded that Dr. [redacted] extract a tooth. Dr. [redacted] determined that the tooth was healthy and refused to remove a healthy tooth. This is an accordance with the standard of care in the practice of dentistry. I am not sure why a patient would file a complaint about a dentist refusing to pull a healthy tooth and cannot identify a reasonable resolution.

Review: I had bottom dentures made that cost $910.00. Before I left the office I told the nurse I was not happy with the way they fit or looked. The next morning I took the dentures out after ripping my gums open from jagged edges. I was to soak the dentures in salt water and put them back in. When I looked at the deformity I had mentioned to the nurse she stated if I wanted say in how they looked I needed to pay more money. The deformed tooth was actually filed off too short. I called the company and got the answering machine. There is no way to leave a message. I am really disgusted and angry that these teeth are worthless because I cant even get them back in my mouth now. I want my money back.Desired Settlement: I want my money back

There have been multiple issues with this patient ranging from as far backyear ago. Most recently she called and yelled at the assistant through the phoneabout a procedure we performed on her denture, a chairside liner, thataddressed one of her concerns. She specifically stated while yelling, " I want a remake or a refund. "When she presented to the clínic, the patient was loud in the chair. Herbehavior was disruptive. She was told that we would adjust the dentures orrefund. She became so loud and disruptive, we had to call the police. We rook the full set dentures back and refunded her $960.00 the cost ofthe dentures. She is in dispute over the cost of the xray. The xray is a legaldocument and property of the office. She is entitled to a copy at a cost. Wewill not refund for the extractions because the teeth we pulled and therewas never a past issue about the extractions. She has been refunded andreleased and needs to purchase another set, we recommended[redacted].Thank You,

I chose to go to Affordable Dentures to get 1 tooth implant. I have paid almost $1700 for this implant which after about 9 months is still not in my mouth. I have been back 4 times today is the 5th to get my implant which has not been correctly made each time. Every time that I have come I have waited at least an hour past my appointment time after driving over 30 minutes to the office. Each time being told there was an emergency that happened that put them behind. The last tech that was going to work on putting my implant in was going to "pull" out my temporary instead of unscrewing it. She then after being told by myself that it is screwed in used a drill to remove the small filling to get to the screw and stripped it. Then the doctor tried to get it out and he said I would have to return next week so he could have a special tool. I am now sitting in the waiting room for an 11:00 appointment and it is 11:50. The office's lunch was just delivered.

I went to affordable dentures to get a full upper denture and lower partial made. I had seen Dr. Donnie R[redacted] and was very impressed with his chair side manners and was amazed how excellent the outcome was for same day dentures. The home care was explained thoroughly and the professionalism was great.
I have gotten so many compliments on how natural the dentures looked and I am very comfortable in them.
I would recommend others to go see Dr. R[redacted] and I promise you will be satisfied.
Dr. R[redacted] new patient :)

I went to Affordable Dentures in Milwaukee, WI in the spring of 2014 for upper dentures and a lower partial, too bad the customer is not always right and given what they ask for! I was confronted by a technician (who is now their receptionist) named [redacted] and the dentist who told me that they did not feel that pulling my remaining crumbling upper teeth would be in my best interests and that I should instead let them fix my teeth and create the lower partial. I refused so [redacted] left the room and [redacted] and the dentist stayed with me (neither of them are still employed by this company), I had no idea where [redacted] went but to my dismay she had gone out to the waiting room and convinced my husband that saving my teeth was the way to go because her sister had come in with the same request and they saved her teeth and she's very happy. At this point I had 4 people in the room talking me into something I didn't want but rather than cause more of a scene I said I would give it a try. Biggest mistake of my life! It is less than a year later and I am in immense pain in every tooth that they worked on. I was left with ragged, embarrassing looking fillings in a right eye tooth and a left side that I could not bite on or touch with anything hot or cold for over 5 months! I finally returned (after my husbands death) to have the corrections made and was treated like an animal! I explained to the new dentist and his assistant what the problem was and how I was charged over $4000 for a mouth full of pain (except for the partial). The assistant left the room and immediately went to [redacted] to gossip about my complaints, I know this because I could see and hear her. When I complained to the dentist how I didn't appreciate her telling my confidential information to a receptionist all he had to say was "we're allowed to talk about our patients in the office"!! They started to work on the most painful tooth and the equipment was so shoddy that it wouldn't stay together, pieces kept falling apart, they didn't have some of the necessary equipment so he told the assistant to get him something "that would do". While they were drilling they were soaking me with cold water so bad I left with my entire back wet and this was in the middle of January in Wisconsin! The worst two parts are yet to come, the dentist needed to smooth over a filling on my eye tooth (which I explained to him upon arrival) and after much work he asked me to see how it felt and I stated that it didn't feel any different than it did when I walked in and he said "oh, it's that tooth! I was doing the wrong one"!! What? I only have one eye tooth with a filling the one on the left is an implant! As I was getting ready to leave they wanted to know if the extremely painful tooth was any better and I said I couldn't tell because it was numb and I would let them know. When I arrived home I called Affordable Dentures and had the misfortune of speaking with Joyelle who was very rude when I told her that I was in as much pain as I had been when I arrived there that day. All she wanted to talk about was how she didn't appreciate me "telling" how she talked me out of my original dental plans, I told her "what's the matter [redacted] truth hurts? I don't have my husband anymore to back up my story but you know what really happened". So in her normal, belligerent attitude she said "then call a lawyer" and hung up on me! I have never, ever been treated so poorly in my life and I don't feel that they deserve any money for the absolute mess they created in my upper teeth, the only part I am satisfied with is the lower partial. I wouldn't recommend or send an animal to this so-called practice and as far as I'm concerned they need to be looked into and re-rated because they are completely awful! No one that I know that has gone there has been satisfied with their work. My mother got a complete set of dentures from them and is back to wearing her old ones because she is in so much pain and gets sores in her mouth every time she attempts to wear the new ones. If this is a considered a "reputable" business I'd hate to see what you consider an undesirable one!

I want people to know about my experience with Affordable Dentures . In 2013 I had teeth pulled and got a temp. set of teeth the same day. They said I would get my 2nd set in one year due to your gums needing to heal .I paid for all of this the same day. I paid for my teeth to be pulled, the temp.set , a app. for in the future and the next set I was to get in the following year. I paid in cash that same day. With in that year I had a DV situation happen my self and my 3 children moved to Oregon for a safe place to live.I tried to contact the phone number many times. In Aug.2015 I got threw to them and They will not repay me money owed for services not done and a full set of dentures. Please do not use Rebecca [redacted] DDS General Dentist at Affordable Dentures in Green Bay W.I. She is the owner SO I would just Not go there at all if you are looking for a good place to go get your Dentures done. The next step for me is a law suite.

Review: I have traveled to this location to receive a partial denture. My first time at this location was in August of 2013. I was promised that my economy partial would last at least 5 years and it has a one year warranty. Within 3 months, my partial broke. Review: Payed up front for dentures. Wife's a Cancer patient but got ill and dentist never did any work and couldn't get medical clearance. Now refuse refund.

Sept 6 2013 wife went to office to have extractions and dentures upon arrival dentist took impression then asked for medical clearance from wife's cancer doctor from receptionist. They were unable to reach Cancer doctor due to her being off. Dentist stated she could not go any further until she received medical clearance. An appt was made for the following Monday so they had time to get proper paperwork from cancer doctor. At that this I paid my part in full $753.00 for Ultra dentures extractions and everything needed to complete procedure. Delta Dental paid remaining balance per our dental insurance. Before the following Monday my wife [redacted] got ill and her Cancer doctor resumed her cancer drugs. She stated we would have to wait to get dentures for now and she never gave authorization. On Oct 7 th 2013 I contacted Affordable Dentures about my refund because we never was able to return for any work. They are refusing any refund stating they already did the work... my wife still is in cancer treatment and they preformed no procedures on her but a simple impression. Please help us get our money back I paid up front in good faith for work that was never done. Also I have made a complaint with Delta dental because they have paid there Bill and thought we were done and had dentures.Desired Settlement: Refund of out $753.00 paid up front for Dental work never received. Returning for later work would be out of question after the way we have been treated, [redacted] husband of [redacted] dental patient.

Initial Business Response

This is in response to patient [redacted] was seen in our office on 09/06/2013 to begin treatment of full upper immediate denture, and full upper extractions. Patient was given a medical release for her medication Zomaida on 07/18/2013 and was told by our Dr that we could not extract her teeth with out the clearance. Patient presented on 09/06/2013 with out the release, thus we advised the patient that we could still begin treatment as far as taking impressions to process the full upper denture, and then she could return with the clearance on 09/09/2013 which was the following Monday for the surgery and the delivery of the full upper denture. At which point the denture would be ready so we were simply going to extract her teeth and deliver her denture. This was done to accommodate the patient, because she stated she lived hours away and wanted to at least start the process. The patient and her spouse were most definitely aware that the impressions were to make the denture so that when they returned on Monday afternoon all that was needed was the extractions. We also as a courteously to our patient, called the primary physician, however she was out of the office and was not going to return until 09/09/2013. On 09/09/2013 [redacted] spouse called our office to canceled her appointment and advised us he would contact us to reschedule the appointment. We waited for over one month calling the patient trying to get her to come in and complete her treatment. Then on 10/07/2013 [redacted] spouse called in the office and asked for a refund, I explained to him that I was waiting on them to return to our office so that I could bill their insurance for the making of the full upper. He then started yelling at me telling me that he was going to call Revdex.com because we were not supposed to make the full upper denture. I explained to him that both he and his wife were aware that the denture was being processed and I asked him why he would schedule an appointment in the afternoon during our surgery time if he wasn't aware that we were making the denture?? I also told him that debra was presented a treatment consent form, which she signed which clearly states what services were being performed, and he simply stated" I will see you in court, and I'm calling the Revdex.com." After my conversation with Mr. [redacted] I submitted a claim to their insurance company with a letter explaining what treatment was completed for [redacted] and asked them to consider for at least partial payment since we did process and make her denture. If you have any further questions please feel free to contact our office at (XXX) XXX-XXXX Thank you for your time.

Final Consumer Response

On Wednesday Nov XX XXXX Affordable Dentures issued full refund of amount of complaint...... thank you Revdex.com for your assistance.

Review: About 5 yrs ago I went to affordable dentures and had had 10 teeth pulled on top and paid for the custom denture which was $450.00 just for the denture. I was treated rudely by her assistant and rushed in and out of there, but had to wait all day for them to make my temporary denture. I was there from 7:30 a.m. to 4p.m. I went home and was in terrible pain and was told to not take out the dentures for 3 days. On the 3rd day I was in such pain my sister had to drive me back up there. The Dr came in and looked at my dentures. They were not aligned with my mouth at all. the center of the denture that should have been in the center of my mouth was onthe left side. They honestly looked like a donkeys mouth. They then made another temporary denture that day which took ALLL day. I had problems, I could not eat because I was in terrible pain. Ilost about 30 pounds over the next few months. I waited about a year to go and get my permanent denture, to let my gums heal. Well the permanent denture NEVER fit and was very painful to wear. Even with adhesive, I could not eat, the denture would rock back and forth. I felt let down and that I had wasted my money. Meanwhile over the next few years I had been going to a regular dentist and having my bottom teeth pulled a few at a time. On Thursday April 15th, I had 2 teeth left on my bottom, the only real teeth left. So, I decided to go back and thought buying the "Ultra Denture Package" would be better dentures. At least that is what their website says. I was getting the fullset upper and lower. RIGHT AWAY the same assisttanth from 5 yrs ago starts rushing me and not wanting to listen to what I had to say. I told her that I thought their bedside mannerism was very poor and rude. She then became very nice. They made me pay $85 for an xray on TWO teeth, when 5yrs before Dr [redacted] said that all of my bottom teeth would be "simple extractions". I asked to see a sample of the "ultra dentues", they looked and felt EXACTLY like the custom dentures. I told the assistant I would like to speak with Dr [redacted] about the dentures I had and the new ones I was going to buy and she assured me it would be no problem. Dr [redacted], came into the room with the impression thing. in her hand and told me to open my mouth!! She never examined my gums at all. I did not let her do the impression. She was LITERALLY in the room with me 10 whole seconds!! I said I would like to talk to you. She replied: there will be no package deal for you and if you want to talk to someone you can speak with the assitant. I paid for the xray and left. I came home and called a real dentist and he saw me an hour later. He did a full exams of my gums and told me I had a bone on my top gum that need to be ground down or it would cause an ulcer on my top gums when I got the new denture. the bone is clearly visible to the naked eye. He also said there is no such thing as a package deal, you either make them right or you shouldnt do it at all. it is going to take them 2-3 weeks to make my new dentures---no same day! At affordable dentures when you go back to get your "permanent one" they are made THAT day and you wait 7-8 hours. I was treated very unprofesionally and with great disrespect. The receptionist was very very nice and I guess the assistants have to do what Dr [redacted] says. rush one patient in and out so they may get the next victim in. Its all about her making as much money as she can in one single day/ It is very sad situation. People drive for miles and miles only to be let down when they are just trying to get good dentures they can afford. I should have known better after the first experience, but honestly thought that paying more for the "ultra dentures" would be better. When I took a copy of the xray to the new dentist, he said it was of the poorest and darkest quality he has ever seen. She really should be shut down or be limited to the amount of patients she sees in one day. I have seen up to 30 patients in her office in a single day. You cannot give good treatment to that many people when you close at 5p.m. It is litterally like a sweat shop for teeth.Desired Settlement: I would like a written apology and a refund for the xray and a refund from the first set of top custom dentures, that I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO WEAR FOR THE LAST 5 YRS

Response:

I disagree with everything in this complaint. The patient has been visiting the office since July 2011. She has been wearing her old FU dentures which was remade because the midline was not centered. That was corrected. We have not seen her since Feb. 2012.There are no entries about donkey teeth or rudeness. She presented for two extractions and a lower denture. She also wanted a ultra full upper. The assistant explained the new denture wearer package before I walked into the room. As soon as I entered she stated "I don't want an economy lower denture, I only want an Ultra denture". It was clear to me that she did not understand the nature of a temporary immediate denture. I told her that I was not going to debate with her but that I was going to send the assistant back in to explain the NDWP. She got mad and left.We cannot refund a 5 year old denture. We will remake or refund within one year if we think that we cannot come to a satisfactory resolution. If she thinks that someone can make her a permanent denture in 2 - 3 weeks, she is still incorrect. It takes 6 months to heal. Additionally we sell dentures singly or in a package. The package is a discount for a temporary & permanent denture.[redacted] DDS

Review: I found the organization online. I called to schedule appt. approximately 2 weeks ago. When I called I explained my whole situation to representative who made appt. I went to appointment today and paid a $75 fee for panoramic x-ray. I saw Dr. [redacted] and explained to her I wanted to get my lower teeth pulled and get a lower denture, and then after initial healing time get the denture implanted. This is the service the office specializes in. She preceded to tell me she thinks my teeth are in to good of condition for her to "Ethically" pull out for me to get dentures. I explained to her that in the last 6 years and 3 days I have spent over $46,000 on my teeth and do not want to continue to excessively spend money or any more money on teeth preservation. She said she suggests pulling the problem ones and get a partial. I told her I respect her professional opinion, and her Ethics, however I informed her it was my body, my mouth and I am the one who has suffered all the pain in last 6 years, with extensive tooth surgeries, implants, crowns, veneers, root canals. I also informed her I have no more savings etc to support the tooth problems. In which the denture would be implanted, resolving any further monies and problems with the lower teeth. I also politely disagreed with her moral and "ethical" decision stating she can't pull my teeth. I informed her that in the United States, she is free to have a abortion, lap band, gastric bypass, breast implants, plastic surgery, tummy tuck, hysterectomy and any medical procedure she feels will improve her overall well being. I then told her that as a medical professional, her "ethics" end at the point where she states her medical opinion and advice. However, she is not my body, soul, or person, to make that decision on what I want to do with my teeth. I deserve the same rights as all of her other patients.I feel this procedure is best for me, and my Ethics for me only matter. Not hers when it comes to my body and well being.

She should agree to do the work I choose and as a patient, we are responsible for our decisions and not her. I would be required to sign a statement stating I was authorizing the procedure. She has no liability, its all mine once paper was signed. I also believe, if she strongly feels she wouldn't perform work, she should refund the fee I paid $75.00 I should not be required to pay if I am refused services. I explained prior to appointment the situation at hand to office personnel on phone.

Business' Initial Response

As I stated back in my office at the time of your consultation, I will be more than happy to present in front of a United States of America Judge and I will abide by his/her decision!

Business Response

This is in response to [redacted],

This patient was seen in our office on 07/12/2013 for a consultation of full upper and full lower implants with full upper and full lower dentures. An x-ray was taken and presented to our Doctor for evaluation of dentures and implants. After she reviewed the x-ray she determined that the patient was not a good candidate for dentures because he did not have more than 50% bone loss. By law and also following guidelines for most all insurance companies, legally our Dentist can not pull someone's teeth and give them dentures just because they don't want to restore their teeth. A patient must have at least 50% of bone loss to be a candidate for dentures. The patient became upset once we advised him that we were not able to due this for him. We did not charge the patient for an exam or consultation, we simply charged him for the x-ray that was taken which was necessary to determine the treatment he was requesting. Our Dentist would not agree to malpractice. Thank you for you time, and you may contact our office directly for any additional questions you may have@ (XXX) XXX-XXXX

Consumer Response

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)

Its my mouth and [redacted] its not her place to decide what's right for me ethically morally and legally. If what the statement they presented is correct days never advise me of such indications do to bone loss and or otherwise I was never told any of that information prior or otherwise. the dentist could choose to have an abortion, tummy tuck, breast lift, or implants, & plastic surgery of any kind in this country which is her right. She, however has no merit in the decision of what I want to do with my body and furthermore that comment about insurance was preposterous, I was privately paying, so it has nothing to do with insurance regulations. her comment to me was she that my teeth to good quality to remove. I explained I've spent over forty six thousand dollars in the last 6 years on them and I cannot afford to spend anymore so I was going to make a decision to one time spend a final amount to never have my problems again. I don't believe its her decision, to take control of my mouth she put her at the place where they don't belong.

Business Response

So unfortunatley we are not able to proceed with this patient's request for implants and dentures. As advised to the patient he has more than 50% of his bone left and very healthy teeth. Even if the patient signs a waver stating he understands and our Doctor is not liable, legally we still can not extract all of his teeth. Also it seems that the patient is requesting a refund for his xray as well, if we were not able to perform the work. We charge 75.00 for an xray which is used to diagnose the treatment and see the condition of patient's teeth and bone. Once the xray has been taken it is non refundable. Thus we will not be able to refund the patient the 75.00 that he paid for the xray.
