November 6, Indianapolis Revdex.com EWashington Street Indianapolis, IN Attn [redacted] Re: Complaint Case # [redacted] [redacted] Thank you for bringing this complaint to our attentionWe appreciate the opportunity to again tell our side of the story regarding complaints brought against our company First, let me begin by offering a sincere apology for the frustration and concern that this has caused Dr [redacted] As a consumer forum, we are providing information to our members and allowing members to share feedbackThe majority of information on the List is provided by members, and double-checked by representatives against other listings online An online search for Dr [redacted] ’s name yielded a variety of results regarding contact information I apologize that Dr [redacted] ’s home information was listed on her profile Upon receipt of this complaint, I have verified that Dr [redacted] ’s home address has been removed from her Angie’s List profileOur IT department has also performed the upload of this change to be reflected on the pages that are available to non-members via web search enginesThat process was completed yesterdayHowever, if someone conducts a Google search to locate Dr [redacted] ’s Angie’s List information and does not sign into an Angie’s List membership, then they will view a Google cached websiteTo elaborate, Google takes snap shots of websites and then stores them in their database to allow for quicker search results When anyone does a search on Google it is these cached pages that appear Unfortunately there is not a set date I can tell you for when the next time Google will cache our website In the future, if Dr [redacted] would like us to update the information on her profile to reflect changes within her practice, she can simply call our Business Center at 1-866-843- I find it regrettable that Dr [redacted] was left feeling no other recourse than contacting the Revdex.comWe strive to provide top-notch customer service to service providers and members, and it is clear from the tone of this complaint that we have missed the mark Thanks again for the opportunity to respond to this complaintPlease let me know if we can provide any further information Kind Regards, [redacted] Angie’s List

We are currently working with this customer to help resolve this complaint We are working to find an amicable solution through productive conversation

Revdex.com: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me I will wait until for the business to perform this action and, if it does, will consider this complaint resolvedBefore I consider it satisfactory I want something in writing showing that I have a $balance owed to your company thanks Regards, [redacted]

Revdex.com:I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.I am requesting a copy of the monitored phone calls pertaining to this agreementThe agreement provided by Angie's List is one of many "revised" agreements they sent overThere is a factual breach of contract by Angie's List on more than one count as stated in California Advertising Law Sections: and Angie's List wrongfully sold their advertising services by stating that there are limited spots available and projecting % increase in ROIAngie's List used case examples of how they've increased the ROI of similar business with similar ad spendAngie's List records their calls and monitors account activityWith further investigation it will be very simple to prove that the ROI examples and statements that businesses offer $100K for keywords and areas are an unlawful way to persuade businesses to advertise with Angie's ListSending an agreement that has been revised multiple times should not protect Angie's List unethical and unlawful practice to sell advertising with tactics of manipulation, persuasion and pressureBy gaining access to our phone encounters we can easily determine whether these statements are factualAngie's List should not sell advertising spots based on ROI, increased business and confidence and get away with it by a fine print agreement that is overruled by existing advertising lawsYou can't perform an unlawful act and protect yourself with fine printAngie's List needs to take responsibility for their statements made during the conversation to persuade me into advertising at 1:00AM my timeEven if the ROI conversation was to be "vague," not receiving a single lead from a month to two months of advertising after all the promises made is unjustRegards, [redacted]

March 13, Indianapolis Revdex.comEWashington StreetIndianapolis, IN 46202Attn [redacted] Re: Complaint Case # [redacted] ***, Thank you for bringing this complaint to our attentionWe appreciate the opportunity to give our side of the story regarding complaints filed against our company On 10/23/2014, Mr [redacted] agreed to advertise with Angie’s List for one year per the attached agreement Before Angie’s List will publish an advertisement, we require each prospective advertiser to sign a contract outlining the services Angie’s List will render, the relevant categories and the ad rate a service provider must pay for these servicesEach contract includes a standard cancellation feeThat fee is 35% of the remaining balance of the agreement The other program that Mr [redacted] refers to in his complaint is our Big Deal Storefront programThis program allows members to purchase products from positively-rated providers via the Angie’s List systemInstead of up-front costs to the provider, the Big Deals involve profit sharing Mr [redacted] has been in communication with his account manager recently discussing his advertising Certainly, if he wishes to cancel his advertising, he should let his account manager know and they will process his cancellation and details associated with thatHe will be responsible for the cancellation fee, if he decides to cancel early In short, I sincerely apologize if we failed to deliver to the extent of Mr [redacted] ’s expectationsWe did, however, deliver to the extent of our contractAngie’s List and Mr [redacted] ’s company have a binding agreement, and just as we have acted in accordance with our obligations, so must Mr [redacted] Thanks again for the opportunity to respond to this complaintPlease let me know if we can provide any further information Kind regards, [redacted] Angie’s List

August 30, Indianapolis Revdex.com EWashington Street Indianapolis, IN Attn [redacted] Re: Complaint Case # [redacted] Hello [redacted] , Thank you for bringing this complaint to our attentionWe appreciate the opportunity to tell our side of the story I would first like to offer a sincere apology to Mr [redacted] for his recent customer service experience with Angie’s List As you may know, Angie’s List allows consumers to post comments regarding experiences they have had with area companies Angie’s List is a passive conduit for these comments, meaning the content is wholly supplied by our consumer members Because other consumers rely on the statements made by each member, we require each and every member to sign the following statement before submitting a report: [redacted] I confirm that the information contained in this Service Evaluation Form (i) is true and accurate and (ii) represents my actual first-hand experienceI acknowledge and understand that Angie's List is relying upon the accuracy of the information in order to serve other membersI confirm that I do not work for, am not in competition with, or am not in any way related to the service provider in this report Assuming that our members are willing to attest to the truthfulness of each report, we allow positive and negative reports to be submitted to our forum We do not remove reports at the request of service providers Rather, we allow each service provider to respond to any reports they receive, to share their point of view Angie’s List uses a combination of proprietary technology and good old-fashioned investigative techniques to root out potential conflicts of interest, cases of fraud, and attempts to “stuff the ballot box” with positive comments We verify that reviews are not anonymous and have been left by a real person Angie’s List also submits itself to annual audits to hold ourselves accountable to our procedures Angie’s List does not verify that the review is factual, as that is subjective to the experience of the member and service provider involved in the transaction Angie’s List offers each service provider the opportunity to share their point of view, thus giving a fuller view of the interaction Angie’s List verifies that the review is left by a real person, providers each company with the opportunity to confirm that the review was left by a real customer, and holds itself accountable as a neutral third party through independent annual audits We do have processes in place if a service provider notifies us that they do not recognize the name/address of a member associated with a review on their company We will reach out to the member that submitted the review in an attempt to have them confirm that review a second time, at the request of the service provider Angie’s List looked into the review, at Mr [redacted] ’s request, and determined that the review could not be confirmed as a competitor or verified as a real person, which resulted in the removal of the review It is unfortunate that this negative review resulted in a grade drop and the removal of Mr [redacted] ’s advertising from Angie’s List It is also unfortunate that proper notification was not provided to Mr [redacted] regarding the removal of his advertising I find it regrettable that we left Mr [redacted] feeling that he had no other recourse than to contact the Revdex.com regarding this situation Thanks again for the opportunity to respond to this complaint, and please let me know if we can provide any further information Kind regards, Jesse M [redacted] Angie’s List

Revdex.com:I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.First of all let me start by saying that Angie's List practices are horridFrom the start of July I had been threatened and bullied into having to do the advertisingAt first they wanted $a month which was way out of our budgetWhen the $was finally agreed upon I was treated like crap by Ryan [redacted] and Chris [redacted] because we didn't pay enough for the advertising They both told me that if you do not pay for the advertising then my profile is put at the very back of their search listing and no one will use our services because they can not find usThen when I did pay for the advertising Ryan said that is all you paid that is not going to put you very high in the search listing Angie's List posts online and on their commericals no contractor can ever pay to be on Angie's List its complete falsehood because unless you do advertise with them they call and or email you 2-times a day with their threats of no one will contact you because we place you in the far back of the run of advertisers if you do not advertiseAlso you can only do great deal with them unless you advertise I explained all of this to Sarah [redacted] in an email and this was her reply: -----Original Message-----From: Sarah [redacted] [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Tuesday, October 28, 2:PMTo: ' [redacted] ***'Subject: RE: Cancellation Balance Owed- Final-- SPID [redacted] Thanks *** The is for the time the ads ran on the 9/invoiceThe owed is for the cancellation fee that is outlined in the contract, it's 35% of the unused portion of the contractThe October invoice was credited off Sarah [redacted] Collections Department EWashington St Indianapolis, IN (866) 543-ext [email protected] I am more than willing to pay the $for the time the ad ran however I will not pay $for a cancellation fee when October invoice has been credited off The solution we are looking for is to pay the $and have Angie's list remove any negative comments they have on our profileThe practices that were done to me in order to get me to advertise with them are very unethicalIf we can not get this resolved between us then we will seek legal counsel along with social media and local news reportingI am sure there are many other contractors like myself who would come forward with the same experiences I have had Regards, [redacted] ***

Revdex.com: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and have determined that the response would not resolve my complaint For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below I have many reasons to reject the claim that no wrong doing happened in the sales process I was never given any account numbers to even reference my accountI was never contacted by anyone or given a name to contact to set up art and other details for the advertisementI was never given access to the Angie's List website thus cannot verify that the add is running or that the info is correctI have recorded phone conversations where I asked for login info and account numbers to be emailed to me but I have yet to receive eitheri have recorded phone conversations where I was offered a deal to keep me from cancelling but I was on an inspection at the time of the call and explained that I may be interested but could not talk at that timeI was told that individual would call back the following Monday morning but instead a short time later I got a cancellation email and no one called Monday at allI was told by the salesman who sent the contract for me to sign that an account manager would contact me the following weekAfter weeks still no contact from Angie's List and when I called I was told they were very sorry but the account manager assigned to my account was no longer with the company and my account "fell through the cracks"In short, I have no account number, no way to access Angie's List website, No way to verify the accuracy of the info in the advertisement or even its existence and all the recorded phone calls to prove this info was never givenAll im asking for is a refund of all money already paid to Angie's List and release from the service agreement and all future paymentsThank you, [redacted] Regards, [redacted] ***

June 15, Indianapolis Revdex.com EWashington Street Indianapolis, IN Attn [redacted] Re: Complaint Case # [redacted] ***, Thank you for bringing this complaint to our attentionWe appreciate the opportunity to give our side of the story regarding complaints filed against our company I’d like to start by offering a sincere apology to Ms [redacted] for any confusion regarding her membership Our records indicate that Ms [redacted] signed up for an annual membership on April of All of our memberships do default to an automatic renewalOur auto renewal program was implemented as a result of member feedback indicating it would be convenient to renew without being required to call or mail in a request to do soWe acknowledge that with every improvement, we run the risk of offending a small portion of our membersSome people, caught off guard when their renewal goes through, clearly do not benefit from this intended convenienceBecause of this, Angie’s List strives to make sure that each member has the opportunity to learn about the program prior to paying for a membership We provided a notification in the membership agreement Ms [redacted] had to agree to in order to access her membership, indicating that the service would renew automatically Additionally, this information is included in the welcome packet that is sent to the member’s home after signing up Ms [redacted] did reach out to us on June 13th to ask for a refund on her renewal that had been processed on April 23rd of this year We feel there is significant value in our memberships, and Ms***’s Gold membership is normally sold at a price of $per year We do not feel a refund of her $is merited in this case I would be happy to discuss the value of the membership with Ms***, and I have included my personal email address in this response Please share this with Ms [redacted] and invite her to contact me directly if she’d like to discuss the matter further I find it regrettable that we left Ms [redacted] feeling she had no recourse but to contact the Revdex.comWe strive to provide top-notch service to our members Thanks again for the opportunity to respond to this complaintPlease let me know if we can provide any further information Kind regards, Jesse B [redacted] Angie’s List [email protected]

August 29, Indianapolis Revdex.com EWashington Street Indianapolis, IN Attn [redacted] Re: Complaint Case # [redacted] ***, Thank you for bringing this updated complaint to our attentionWe appreciate the opportunity to respond to complaints against our company I apologize for the delay in my response I believe at this point that the matter is resolved, as the refund Ms [redacted] is requesting was processed intentionally on 7/of this year I wanted to provide a few more dates to help better explain the timeline from Angie’s List’s perspective 2/– On this date, the agreement to advertise was signed2/– DocuSign expires if not signed In comparison, consider a contest that can be entered until 2/After that date, the offer has expired, so new new entries are allowed Since Ms [redacted] accepted this “offer” or agreement, the expiration date is no longer applicable to the situation because she took the action that would complete it 3/– Advertisement began to run 4/– Ms [redacted] requested to cancel (and Angie’s List later agreed to consider the contract cancelled as of this date) 7/– Ms [redacted] received a refund per the date of 4/5, including a waiver of the standard Early Termination Fee The refund totaled $ Thanks again for the opportunity to respond to this complaintPlease let me know if we can provide any further information Kind regards, Jesse B [redacted] Angie’s List

Revdex.com: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and have determined that the response would not resolve my complaint For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below Hello [redacted] I have to admit that I feel at a slight disadvantage as you and Jesse are on a first name basisHowever, if other Angie’s List members have had similar experiences as I, it doesn’t surprise me that you two are so well acquaintedJesse is correct in the fact that I have brought issues to his and Angie’s List attention and so far they have yet to come through and provide anything that represents serviceI did not ask Angie’s List to contract with Cascadia and since I was advised my call was being recorded, I ask that Angie’s List provide the audio where I requested thisWhat happened, was in an attempt to find a replacement for another horrible provider, I was advised of CascadiaI clearly mentioned that I didn’t elect to hire this provider as previous conversation with Cascadia left me with the impression that this provider was disorganized and less than reliable, and I’m certain the recorded audio CLEARLY states thisI was told that a conversation between Angie’s List and Cascadia took place and my situation and concerns had been communicated to Cascadia, and then I was asked if I would accept Cascadia as my providerI once again voiced my concerns and made it clear as long as Angie’s List was co-signing that I would not have the issues I was concerned about, I would accept this providerAngie’s List vouched for Cascadia and I accepted The fact that every concern I brought forward played out is the reason for my complaintInstead of stepping up and stepping in to resolve this, Angie’s List now wants to say, “I refused to reach out”I shouldn’t have to reach outThis entire episode was coordinated and orchestrated by Angie’s List and it’s their responsibility to take actionThe work was not done on the day of service and when the provider advised he would have to come back the next day to haul away the mount of yard waste that fits in a residential bin, I was shocked! The provider didn’t even haul any waste away, they used my bin and failed to do the requested work completely or to my satisfactionCascadia was not prepared, cost me an additional days works and didn’t show up the next day as promisedI called both Jesse and his staff that following day when Cascadia didn’t arrive, or call, and this was the only refusal, Jesse and his team refused to take my callIn my multiple messages, I advised I had video and photo proof of the sloppy work and demanded that I be refunded immediatelyThey knew the pot had boiled over and they had dropped the ball againAfter missing weeks of work from Angie’s list providers not showing up as scheduled, rescheduling or week long jobs that end up going for nearly month only to not be finished, Jesse knew he no longer had a reasonable excuse for not holding providers responsible How many opportunities does Angie’s List and their provider get to fail? I have lost count! The facts are simpleIn an escalated customer service environment, both Angie’s List and the provider failedAngie’s List advised me that “they would provide better service if they were a profitable company” and clearly did not deny this in their response to The Revdex.comThe provider that I did not request, left early for an invalid reason, didn’t return as scheduled and both Jesse and his staff, declined to take my callsAnd the only reason Angie’s List has responded, (as my last couple complaints went unanswered from the Revdex.com) is because they know this is about to get media attention and they want to give the appearance they have been proactive when in fact they have been reactive and very poor at that Simple or not, the responsibility and weight falls on Angie’s List, but rather than be a reputable company, they have taken to slanderizing customers, and now liable, not realizing that without customers, there is no need for providersLet this record stand as the ultimate example of the difference between Cowardice Service and Customer Service Regards, [redacted]

October 9, 2015Re: Complaint Case # [redacted] Thank you for bringing this complaint to our attentionWe appreciate the opportunity to respond to complaints against our companyOn 4/1/2015, [redacted] agreed to advertise with Angie’s List for one year per the attached agreement We require each prospective advertiser to sign a contract outlining the services Angie’s List will render, the relevant categories and the ad rate a service provider must pay for these servicesEach contract includes a standard cancellation fee of 35% of the remaining balance of the agreement Regardless, [redacted] has been in contact with Angie’s List for several months expressing his frustrations with our processes As [redacted] advertised with us in the past, it seems unlikely that he misunderstood how member reviews work We did look back through the sales process, and did not find that there was any misleading or confusing commentary on our end [redacted] agreed to pay the early termination fee for ending the contract early, and this has been charged with his permission to the card we had on file.In short, I sincerely apologize that this customer is disappointed with their experience with Angie’s ListWe did, however, deliver to the extent of our contractAngie’s List and [redacted] had a binding agreement, and just as we have acted in accordance with our obligations, so must [redacted] Thanks again for the opportunity to respond to this complaintPlease let me know if we can provide any further information Kind regards, Jesse ***Angie’s List
