I was charged a service charge when my dishwasher was not service. They advertised an $80 charge for coming out to assess but end up charging for labour when the appliance is not even fixed. They argue a part is needed and will come back with the part and new labour charge. Totally dishonest and incompetent.

My husband called Appliance Repairman to fix our dishwasher. At the time of booking, we were told it would be $80 for someone to come out and determine the issue. The repairman came out and determined the problem would be $265 to fix. We decided that we were not going to go ahead with the repair because it was alot to spend on our inexpensive dishwasher. He pressured us into the repair. While he was finishing up, my husband left $265 in cash (they insisted on cash) and went to work (I was alone with 3 children). The repair guy finished up and said it would be an additional $400+ for part because the dishwasher won't run without it. I asked him why he wouldn't say that when he was determining the problem. We would not have gone ahead with the initial repair. He said that "he didn't know" until the other issues were fixed. He again tried to pressure me into fixing it. I said no and he needed to leave. I gave him the $265 despite him not fixing anything because I wanted him out of my house. At that time, he said that it was $300. I told him I only had the agreed upon amount. He said that he wasn't leaving without the additional $35. I said I wasn't paying and he needed to leave. If he didn't I would call the cops. He threaten collections if I did not pay. While he stood in my kitchen, I called their so called customer service. While I was on hold with an exceptional rude girl (at this point I am panicked because I have strange man in my house with me and my children), she called him on his cellphone. They concluded their call and she came back to me. Their solution was that I wouldn't pay the $35, but I would have to call back within 48 hours or I would be taken to collections (clearly this is a routine for them now). I broke down and gave him the $35 to get him out of my house.

Now I am stuck with a dishwasher that I paid $300 to fix and it is not fixed. I was fine with the $80 service call, but I shouldn't have to pay for a "repair" that did not actually happen. I felt bullied and threaten while this "professional" was in my home.

Desired Outcome

When we booked the appointment, we agreed to pay $80 for the service call. I am willing to pay the $80. I would like the difference back that I paid for a repair that did not occur, which is $220.

A technician from Appliance Repairman came to my home on Saturday March 2, 2019 to have a look at my microwave (brand ***). He mentioned the diagnostic would cost $80, I asked him to proceed. He took a look and quickly gave me the diagnostic, He said the repair would cost $280 labor and parts will be extra cost if required, but He mentioned most likely He will be able to fix it without the parts. I asked him to proceed. He spent about 20 minutes mainly unscrewing and putting back the screws, then He told me He has fixed some things but that a part would be required and that the company would call me on Monday to give me the price. Then He requested me to pay for the labor despite the microwave was not repaired at all. I did not agree with his approach but He won't leave my home without the full payment and my signature of the invoice after a lot of back and forth I reluctantly paid him $293.80 ($280-$20 credit for postponed the appointment+tax) and signed the invoice. Then, nobody called my from the office for 3 days. After insisting many times, finally I received a phone call from the technician telling me that the part costs approx. $950. I checked in internet and found over 50 complaints basically telling the same story (even same costs). I am sure this company employs this practice to get the money from customers and do not do any work, in other words steal money from customers.

Desired Outcome

Full refund in the amount of $293.80

hired Appliance Repair Man to fix my washing machine
Was told $80.00 to send out the tecnition. When tecnition arrived it was the $280.00
To perform a diagnostic but would wave the initial $80.00
Tecnition said he found a problem but would have to get back to me with a price for parts
But I had to pay the $280.00 + Hst for the services performed.
2 weeks later I have still heard nothing back. The tecnition did tell me what the problem
Part was. Here we are 2 weeks later and I have still not heard anything back and I have called them twice. I have changed out the part but did not fix the problem. I have called their office and they tell me that they outsource their parts. I demanded a refund as they did not hold up their end of the agreement. I even agreed for them to charge me initial $80.00 for comming out and refunding the difference. I got no where with them and they now told me that my file is closed. They will not perform the repair. I do believe this company is scamming people. Please do not use this company

Refund I would like a full refund as they did nothing and were not even correct on their diagnosis They could not even take the time to call me and let me know there was a delay in the quote for the parts Also I would like to see Appliance Repair Man have to pay back others in this same senario

Should rate as a zero... Same story as everyone else. Charges for maintenance and none was performed. Proceeding to small claims court.

Have you sign a document to look at your appliance and then tell you you owe them $300 before they proceed. Immediatey told them to leave the house and they leave with the paperwork saying a collection agency will be in contact. Called the service line and spoke to a *** rep. Told her we will be contacting the consumer protection agency in Ontario and she said you are being sent to a collection agency.

We have requested for repair for the problem that "water is not coming to upper shelf in the dishwasher".The technician came and said that the problem is with drainage. He charged $128 for drainage and $80 for timer service(there were other charges as well, the total was $362). I have asked him that I dont see anything coming out of the pipe or machine when you cleaned and you did not even check timer for which you are charging money. He *** replied that I know my work and I know that timer is working and I have to charge for this. He said that machine is working now and I signed the form in good faith. Next morning when we used the machine for the first time, it still had the same issue. We called the customer cr of times and finally managed to agree them to send technician on Monday. The same technician came on Monday and checked the machine and said the problem is with Timer (which he checked and charged us on Friday)and the replacement cost is $700. We have requested for refund as they charged us for drainage cleaning when there was no problem, they charged for timer service which they did not do and said its working fine and later said the problem is with timer only. Nobody is going to replace $700 timer for the machine which is available for $450 in ***. The customer care were so *** all the time when we contacted them. We requested them that you should only take the consultation fee and not other service fee because it was not needed if you knew your job. They started blaming issues not related to the problem such as broken door latch. It is very clearly mentioned by the technician that the door latch is nothing to do with the problem but the customer service kept on putting this point. ***. After calling them number of times and wasting 20-30 minutes every time they finally offered us refund for Timer Service because they knew that their technicians are charging false and cheating to their customers. We denied accepting that refund and requested them to refund at least 50% of total charge but it was denied very *** again and again. Now we want full refund and apology from them for causing this much pain and problem.

Desired Outcome

We want full refund.

This is a complaint regarding failed services on a *** Freezer from Appliance Repairman starting June 2018 and left un-finished as of January 2019.

The total amount spent on parts and labour has been $1,561.44, outlined in previous emails to the company with invoices and receipts are below:

June 25 - $522.12
July 11 - $522.12
July 17 - $294.99
Sept 25 - $222.21
Multiple phone calls to thier Customer Service representatives (***, ***, ***) resulted in incomplete work, additional quote for work of $880 and an initial offer to recompense me $222.21, which I refused.

The initial quote was for $80 to do a service call. Upon arrival, the technician (***) informed me that he had fixed this same problem hundreds of times to *** freezers and that a new valve assembly (total cost of $1044 installed) would fix the problem, thinking high end appliances require parts that cost more than usual. I gullibly agreed and signed his form, not realizing at the time that this is not a standard charge for repair companies.

After the diagnosis and installation of the new valve assembly, the water flow, which was slow to begin with, now stopped. *** did not know how to fix this and suggested that I defrost the freezer and this should do the trick. I followed the instructions, but the water was still not flowing. Now the freezer was not producing any ice. After subsequent calls, *** informed me that I would need a new dispenser. Again, I hesitantly agreed and had it installed, but it still did not work. Then he informed me that I needed a new control board after being visited by a "senior technician" twice. During this visit, *** caused $1000 damage to the cabinetry that is in front of the freezer water dispenser (pictures have been provided to the company - the whole custom panel now needs to be replaced). The latest "solution" that was presented to me after I followed up (no one called me for over 1 month) was a new door ($1400 which they dropped to $880 after I complained).

I am now at the phase where after 7 visits from their technicians over the period of 7 months, the water still does not come out at all, and the cabinetry has been damaged by their technician.

After researching Appliance Repairman/*** online, I noticed with dismay that the company currently has a .6/10 rating with *** and an F rating with Revdex.com. This confirmed my suspicions that Appliance Repair Man is not operating with the best intentions of the consumer in mind.

Desired Outcome

Since the work is still incomplete and my appliance is in worse shape than before I called their company, and I have incurred damages to my home due to negligent work from their technicians, I have informed Appliance Repair Man in writing to request a full reimbursement of all the fees I was charged ($1,561.44), including the cost of replacing the damages they incurred ($1,000), a total of $2,561.44. The company has refused to budge on offering a refund of $350. The company is now screening my calls and will not correspond anymore.

I PHONED THIS COMPANY TO REPAIR MY FREEZER. THEY WERE HERE ON THE 24/01/19. I WAS TOLD IF I NEVER HEARD BACK BY THE END OF THE WEEK TO PHONE THE FOLLOWING WEEK. I PHONED ON THE MONDAY AND WAS TOLD NOW THAT THE PART WOULD BE IN THE FOLLOWING MONDAY. I PHONED AGAIN TODAY AND WAS TOLD THEY WOULD GET BACK TO ME IN 20 MINUTES. IT'S NOW BEEN OVER TWO AND A HALF HOURS. MY FOOD IS OUTSIDE AND MOSTLY UNTHAWED BY NOW. I PAID THEM $492.48 SO FAR FOR A REPAIR THAT SHOULD OF BEEN A SERVICE CALL AND A PART REPLACEMENT. THE PART IS A COMMON PART THAT SHOULD OF BEEN CARRIED ON HIS SERVICE TRUCK.

Desired Outcome

WOULD LIKE THE JOB FINISHED OR REFUND OF EVERYTHING CHARGED OVER A SERVICE CALL.

I was advise to fix my microwave they will send a technician and he will diagnose the problem. If I accept the cost to fix he will fix else I have to pay $80. He showed up and told to fix it will cost $1000 and as my microwave is very expensive. I call my son and when he showed up they show him the quote and he reject it and they would not leave till he get $220 which he said was for cost to diagnose the problem. My son had to leave so he paid the $80 and sign the receipt for $220 and add in-dispute next to the signature - I told him when I call them they explain that the technician will come out diagnose the problem and provide a quote - if you do not want the quote - then have to pay $80 - we did not want the quote now they want $80 plus money to diagnose the problem. I call to complain and they take my number and never call back, now they send a letter to take me to court.

If you call them they will explain exactly what they tell me $80 to come and diagnose the problem and provide a quote- if you do not want the quote to fix then you have to pay $80 and I pay the $80.

More so the microwave is 1 year old and parts are under warranty and he said he is not affliated with *** tho they site said they fix *** and he hence say $1000 to fix but a new one I end up buying cost $299 plus tax

Desired Outcome

Since they mis-lead me i want them to be honest when you call for them to explain, as I told them it was *** but i do not know the model number and it was 1 year old just past 1 year so I miss the 1 year free repairs. They as experts should tell the truth. I want them to stop threatening me and give me back my $80 as he did not indent to fix any thing when he saw me not knowing much and the moment I agree it was nice microwave he thought he can get the better of me so I call my son - this is not nice
