Berks Credit & Collections, Inc. Reviews (189)

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me as long as I received a company letter and/or email from Berks Credit & Collections stating they will removed both accounts from my credit bureau.

I am rejecting this response because while they have addressed one issue of an error made that has caused two hits to my credit, they have not addressed the fact that I was not given proper notice of this collection before it was placed on my credit report. In speaking with [redacted], Berks Credit and Collection has admitted to sending a letter in 2015 to an address that I had not been associated with in almost 3 years. This letter was not sent certified mail and [redacted] stated, "We can't send everybody with a collection a certified letter for their collection.  We send a letter and if it doesn't get returned, we assume it was received". I explained this is a poor assumption as mail is lost or thrown away all the time and there is no way to account for if someone received the correspondence. [redacted] continued to be rude, condescending and disrespectful on the call and threatened to end the call when I told her that she needed to watch her tone and attitude when speaking to a customer/client.  Since proper notice of the collection was not given prior to the collection being placed on my credit report, it should be removed from my report altogether upon payment.

I am rejecting this response because: they totally disregarded my request in its entirety as if they did not read a word I submitted. I asked for proper validation which in my previous request specifically asked for a contract or documentation bearing my signature. I would hope you company is more intelligent to believe you sending a mere statement saying you "called your client" and they said a balance is owed is not a legal validation. In fact in a court of law that is mere hearsay. Your company did not provide me with a contract but a vague statement with inaccurate information.  You failed to provide me any contract or document bearing my signature. You also ignored my request that proves your company is licensed to collect in the state of [redacted] Your company is willfully being negligent in my request. Provide me with the proper document or I will file suit using this correspondence as well as the others that you are attempting to negate my request and violate my rights.

We had spoken to [redacted] on 07/21/14 at which time he requested an additional statement, which we sent to him. We spoke to him again on 07/31/14. He stated he was having a problem w/ medicare and billing, we requested an itemized  statement of charges to be fowarded  to him so he can...

review w/ his insurance

In reviewing the account with our client, the accounts were placed here more than 30 days ago and were just paid at the end of June to the client.  The client did not place the account in error and the accounts will be updated as paid in full on the credit bureaus.

We have contacted our client and have verified the balance is still due.  We will mail a copy of the consumer's bill to them for verification.  They can contact our office at any time with any questions.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.  I have attached the receipt of the full payment to Berks in good faith in anticipation of of having this removed from my credit report.

Under the FDCPA the initial Validation Notice must be sent within 5 days of intial contact with the debtor. Our intial contact was on June 25,2013 and our notification was mailed the next day. Once the bills are reconciled the Credit Bureaus will be updated

correspondence form the collection agency or the original creditor and although I have paid I want the entire file removed from my credit report. This can be updated and removed not updated as paid in full.  Only reason I found this account is because I have credit monitoringfor potential fraud other than that I would have never known this was in collections. Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because:

This agency is skirting the law, and is basically a group of rude bottom-feeders. They are trying to bill me $222 from a July 2013 hospital bill (which I was never told about) and are blaming the fact I moved (2 1/2 years ago) as to why I had no idea I owed the hospital money (even though my address has been updated for years with both the postal service and the hospital). It's a small hospital bill from a time where, as far as I can tell due to research, I wasn't even IN the hospital. But I was threatened, called rude, and was told that even though the bill is 3 years old, it was just added to my credit report and needs to be paid NOW or I'll suffer. I wouldn't send these people a dime, especially since they knew absolutely nothing. Legally, I kept telling the representative to used the term "alleged debt," since they cannot prove it, but the woman kept calling me rude, and asking, "What do you know about this? You didn't even know you had a debt!"
$222 - a tiny amount I could easily pay off, if I had proof this debt was valid - means three hard hits on my credit report. These "people" made no effort to correct the situation. It was more fun for them to try to collect my personal info so they could send me tons of junk. Do not do business with this company. Block any number that comes from their Reading, PA offices. They are rude, barely operating within the legal system, and would rather talk over you than to you.

We have requested deletion of our trade line from Mr. [redacted]'s Credit Bureau Report

 Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because: The business provided no additional response and does not appear to want to resolve the complaint of erroneous pursuit and illegal posting to my personal credit report 3 items for the same disputed issue
Regards,
[redacted]

We have coded the account as Cease & Desist and have notified our Client also.

The financial policy of the Client that was signed by the patient states that the client can add a fee if they place for collections as well as add interest

We had spoken to [redacted] in 2008 and 2009 as well as we mailed notices. He had also disputed with the Credit Bureau and we had verified the balances with our Client. If he has proof of payment, please provide to us.

We have requested deletion of our Trade Line from [redacted]'s Credit Bureau Report

We have already requested deletion of our tradeline in April 2014.

you must give us a reason why you are rejecting the response. If no reason is received your complaint will be closed Administratively Resolved]Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because:You obviously have all my information. I do not have an account number because this is an item YOU placed on my credit report. On the credit report it only has the alleged amount and this collection agency listed. If I had an account number to refer to I would have mentioned it. You have my FULL name from the Revdex.com that is sufficient in order to handle this matter. I do not feel comfortable releasing information such as my SS# even if it is the last 4 digits. I can give my DOB 4/10/1990. That is all I will give considering I do not know WHO you are and WHY you have my information and reporting items on my credit report. Please use my full name ([redacted]) and DOB to retrieve me in your database to remove this item off my credit report. Regards,[redacted]

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.  This could all have been avoided if they would have responded to my correspondence months ago and left me know that I hadbeen missing 2 checks according to their records, communication is totally lacking in this case.
