Review: I contacted the company to pay off this account, I made the payment and the representative stated once the payment cleared they would remove the account from my credit report. However, this account is still appearing as of today

Account Number: [redacted] Date Opened: 01/2014

Status: Paid,Closed.

My Social Security # [redacted]Desired Settlement: Have this account removed from my credit report as I have already paid off the amount owed and they promised they would have the account removed from my credit report once the payment cleared

We have requested deletion of our Trade Line from [redacted]'s Credit Bureau Report

Review: I was contacted by Berks Credit and Collections about an outstanding debt. I replied to them in a timely manner as stated in their letter disputing the validity of the debt. No response was received from them and they put the collection on my credit report.

The debt they are trying to collect was fully paid for and I do not owe anything.

Please try to solve this issue with the debt collection agency and/or medical provider claiming the debt.Desired Settlement: Please remove the Collection Entry from my Credit Report. Thank you

Response:

We did receive the letter of dispute and validation was sent to the address given to us at that time. That address was [redacted] NY [redacted]. The mail was never returned. I have resent to the current address given.

Review: Over the past month I received no less than 45 calls registered in the call log of my cell phone. At no time was a caller ID shown as to the nature of the business, nor were any messages left. When I did call back, the operator insisted on speaking with me, as indicated by name, but would not confirm a business Identification until I pressed for one. When I confirmed that the call was being recorded, I asked that they consider their business practice and notify people not only of their intent, but also their business name. While I can appreciate the stigma of a debt collector is ominous, I would also consider that if their metric for success with their clients is collecting debt, by intimidation to customers, then perhaps they need to rethink their business strategy and practice. I am much more compelled to support someone that will work with me to remedy the call to action then that of someone who insists that I am the guilty party and have no way to support the request.Desired Settlement: I would be more likely to act if I get a letter or email rather than a phone call. Please do not call me any more as it is bordering on harassment with the frequency of calls.

We have been trying to contact [redacted] since her account was placed for collections on February 21th , 2013. She did call over office on 05/21/13 thinking she had paid the bill. We are in the process of contacting our Client to verify if the bill has been paid.

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because: This response is beside the point. The point of my complaint was to the process of which they are attempting to contact me. Leaving no messages, not using other tools such as email or written communication, do not justify repeated phone calls under no identification. It seems odd to me that the response, while factual, does not address my complaint on approach. I would suggest that correspondence would have been more efficient and quicker had some of the suggestions been considered. Perhaps rethinking their approach and business model or metrics for their clients would help them be more successful. Attempting to contact since February seems to be doing a disservice to their client if they are not attempting to connect through any other means than a phone call with no ID or message.

Review: I have a Collection on my [redacted] Credit Report from Berks Collections for $344.00. I have written and called this company numerous times over the past 7 years regarding this outstanding collection they have listed on my [redacted] Credit Report. I asked for an itemized statement of charges with my name on it for this bill. I was nor have I ever been a patient of [redacted] in any part of the year 2008. I had a procedure done in 2006 which was paid for by my Health Insurance and this collection along with the date is fraudulent information. I asked that this company send me an itemized statement twice a few years ago and they sent me someone else medical records (not mine). I do not think anyone would appreciate getting medical records of someone else!!!! I called and told them about this and not only did the representative hang up on me, I never received nothing from them. Now this collection is back on my [redacted] Credit Report with a new and fraudulent date of 2008. I want this removed from my credit report at [redacted] immediately. I am 69 years old, a senior citizen and have never had any health insurance bills other then co-pays which were always paid.Desired Settlement: They need to remove this information from my [redacted] Credit Report once and for all! Thank you

The phone number list for them is ###-###-#### The acct# on my credit report is [redacted] and the address listed is [redacted], PA and [redacted], PA.

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, you must give us a reason why you are rejecting the response. If no reason is received your complaint will be closed Administratively Resolved] Review: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because: This is the same response I have received from Berks for the last 7 years! They have failed to ever send the records proving this account is mine, what is for, an explanation of charges and the date this transpired. The last thing I received from them was someone else medical records. I don't want a bill, I want the date, the place the explanation of charges etc.

And yes I did dispute this again with [redacted], this is set to come off my credit report in August 2014 but it irritates me to no end that this organization can do this! After 7 years of letters phone calls etc! No I will accept this response.Regards,[redacted]

Review: In June of 2013 I began rebuilding my credit. At this time I pulled my credit reports and found these 2 collections accounts from Berks Credit and Collections. Account # [redacted] & [redacted]. I contacted them and immediately offered to pay them, even though I didn't know what the charges were for, just to get this removed promptly. They refused that offer. I then filed a dispute with all three collection reporting agencies. These accounts were quickly verified by Berks. On suggestion from the agencies I sent a debt validation letter to Berks. After not hearing back from them at all, I filed another dispute with the agencies explaining that I have tried contacting Berks and received no answer. At this point only [redacted] continued to validate these accounts. I thought this was a failure on [redacted] part so I filed a CFPB complaint against [redacted]. Again this debt came back verified. The original creditor is listed as [redacted]'s [redacted]. I have even called them directly and was told they have no outstanding accounts in my name older than 1 year. These charges are supposedly from 2010. I need to know that these are valid debts and are ASSIGNED to this agency to collect before I will pay anything. For 6 months this has been hurting me and no one can still give me the proper current documentation.Desired Settlement: VALID & CURRENT information regarding these debts and, if found to be valid and payable to Berks, deletion from all credit bureaus upon payment. As it's been over 6 months already without getting the requested info these accounts should have already been deleted. Furnishing unsubstantiated information to the credit reporting agencies as a means to extract money is against the law. If there was proper documentation to validate these accounts to the agencies then why have I not been provided with it.

Review: I was contacted by the collection agency in April of 2013 regarding a hospital bill I had left unpaid. they did not inform me during this phone call of any specific information regarding the bill. The phone call began with an automated message asking me to confirm my identity, and then proceeded to a human representative that told me the amount charged but not the doctor or hospital from which the bill came. they also did not confirm the date of treatment. Despite all of this, I provided them with my card information over the phone and they told me the debt would be cleared and that the statement on my bank account would show the withdrawal going to "PCS" in Pennsylvania. I searched the internet for "PCS" as well the the number that called me, and many of the hits claimed they were scammers. Worried at this point, I called the doctor's office and hospital where I knew I had outstanding bills (the bill in question was never communicated to me by the hospital, and thus I had no knowledge of its existence, having already been billed from a separate department for the visit in question) and neither of them said they had forwarded my bills to any collection agency.

I proceeded to call the agency back. There was no ring and I was taken straight to an answering machine saying that "All representatives are busy".I tried this a few more times to no avail and left them voicemail asking for a call back. At this point I believed I had been scammed so I called my bank and initiated a fraud-recovery process. The bank told me they would give me provisional credit amounting to the PCS charge if I gave "the merchant" (PCS) at least 48 hours to contact me back, as per the bank's policy regarding settlement for fraudulent charges. I attempted calling PCS a few more times during the period without an answer, so after 3 days I called my bank and was credited the amount charged by PCS.

Last Tuesday, June 18 2013, I was contacted by Berks Credit and Collections. The representative that contacted me asked me why I had my bank credit me back the balance on my debt. I first questioned the representative about their relationship with PCS, the name given to me regarding the April charge. The representative explained to me that PCS was a separate part of the same company, used for transactions. I then explained to the representative what had happened during and after the phone call in April. In response, the representative said that the company was not at fault, and that I had to pay the original charge and a supplemental charge because of the fee the bank charged them (for the voided charge to my account). I told the representative I would call back after confirming the validity of the charge with the hospital. I called the hospital and after much confusion it was discovered that there had been two separate bills for the same hospital visit and one never reached me (the bill had been forwarded back to the hospital both times they tried to mail it). Though the other bill had been paid, the bill in question was from a different department that was unaware of my insurance status and had my account on hold. The hospital representative explained that this account had been on hold for too long and was automatically transferred to debt collections, and when prompted by me, the hospital representative was able to give the name "Berks Credit and Collections" as the agency to which their bills are forwarded. I asked the hospital representative about the status of my bill and was informed that it still showed as having been paid after going to debt collections in April. I asked the hospital representative if this was typical and if it would be prudent to pay the amount requested by Berks. The representative was unsure as to whether or not the charge from berks was valid and advised me to decline to pay Berks until enough time passed (estimated to be late August) that the hospital would have an updated status.

I called Berks back and explained that I now knew the original attempt to collect debt was perhaps valid, but was dissatisfied with the process. I also informed the Berks representative about the hospital being unaware of the issue. The Berks representative responded by putting me entirely at fault for the confusion and that Berks was not responsible for informing the hospital of changes to the bill at this stage. I asked if there was any way they could inform the hospital of the issue so that I could confirm the status of the bill from the original source. The Berks representative declined, saying the hospital did not need to be aware. Exasperated, I then asked when I would need to begin paying this debt (and in what increments if possible) in order to prevent it from doing more damage to my credit. I was told I needed to pay it all immediately, even after explaining to Berks that the hospital had advised me to wait. I refused to pay during that phone call and have not contacted them (or been contacted by them) since.Desired Settlement: I would like to see Berks cancel my account and allow me to correspond with the hospital, against whom I will also possibly be filing a complaint for their lack of reasonable contact attempts to me (they have my phone number as well as my correct address, but made no effort to confirm delivery or to verify my address via phone, and by failing to act initiated this wrongful process in the first place) should this complaint fail to correct my situation and allow me to pay my bill within a reasonable period of time and remove any damage to my credit that was incurred despite me following all instructions and responding to all communications I received in a timely manner . More importantly, I would like to see that any damage to my credit or any information Berks has provided against my credit be expunged, and that any fees I have incurred from Berks be waived as a result of their failure to properly explain charges or to reasonably communicate with me once I had provided them payment. I have made every effort at every stage to pay my bills either completely at once, or in accordance with they payment plans made by the hospital, and have had no other bills in bad standing except the one currently with Berks that came about due to their neglect.

Response:

I have placed a hold on [redacted]'s account so it will not affect her Credit Bureau Report. Payment in full of the Original $215 will have to be made by July 31st 2013 to keep this account from affecting her Credit Bureau Report. I will waive the $25 Credit Card Challenge Processing Fee do to the confusion with the payment.

Review: I started receiving phone calls from a number I didn't know. I looked it up and it was Berks C. & C. I've answered the call, said hello, got no response so I hung up. I've never received a bill or invoice in the mail, or email, telling me how much they say I owe, to whom I owe it and what service was provided that they say I owe money for.Desired Settlement: If these are real and actual charges, for products or services provided, then I'll work out some way to pay for them. I'm on disability and don't have piles of money sitting around so they'll have to give me some time. I also think that since they have never sent me anything about this bill, any negative report that hurts my credit should be removed or changed to a "pending" status.

Review: IN 2010 I RECEIVED NOTICE FROM A COLLECTION AGENCY REGARDING A MEDICAL BALANCE WE WERE UNAWARE OF. WE WERE VERY UPSET AND THE BERKS AGENT ADVISED THAT ALTHOUGH THEY DONT NORMALLY DO IT BUT IF WE WOULD PAY THE TOTAL BALANCE OF $61 THAT DAY THEY WOULD IMMEDIATELY NOT JUST UPDATE THE CREDIT BUREAU BUT HAVE IT REMOVED SINCE IT WAS CLEARLY AN OVERSIGHT AND WE WANTED IT RECTIFIED IMMEDIATELY. SO WE PAID THE AMOUNT AND THEY GUARANTEED US IT WOULD BE REMOVED WITHIN 30 DAYS. NOW TODAY, FOUR YEARS LATER IT IS STILL ON OUR CREDIT REPORT AND THEY ONLY RECENTLY MARKED IT PAID AND NEVER REMOVED IT AS PROMISED. NOW WHEN WE ARE DOING COLLEGE APPS FOR OUR SON THIS IS AFFECTING US. WE ARE VERY UPSET WITH THEM AND AFTER ATTEMPTING TO SPEAK WITH "CURT" TODAY THE SUPERVISOR AND ALSO ANOTHER AGENT THEY WERE VERY RUDE AND SAID THEY HAVE NO RECORD OF THAT AGREEMENT CONVENIENTLY. THE AGENT SAID SHE WAS ENDING THE CALL AND HUNG UP ON ME WHEN I WAS TRYING TO EXPLAIN WHAT THEY PROMISED US. PLEASE HELP US TO MAKE THEM STICK TO THEIR AGREEMENT.Desired Settlement: WE WANT THE AGREEMENT HONORED AND FOR THIS COLLECTION FROM 2010 WHICH WAS PAID TO BE REMOVED FROM OUR CREDIT REPORT AS PROMISED

Review: I have a bill that was turned into collection by [redacted] to Berks Credit & Collection that I have been reasonably trying to settle. This bill was

a utiliity bill of around $375.00 which fees and late charges have now totaled $911.00. I am trying to get my credit score cleared up and

I was willing to pay $475.00 to settle this debt and get it off my credit report. I even wrote a letter to the CEO of [redacted] and received no

response. They want the total of $911.00 and will not accept less which I think is unfair. I would appreciate any help you can give me.

Thank youDesired Settlement: I am willing to

pay $475.00 to settle this account and get it off my credit report.

Review: My doctor's office, [redacted] billed my old insurance company in error, they then billed the correct insurance company and received payment but they also pursued direct payment for me for the bill that was paid by insurance. They would not listen to me when I told them the bill was paid, they would not check their records. [redacted] then referred the matter to Berks Collection agency which NEVER EVER sent me a letter regarding the collection of the $90.00 that is not owed by me. Berks then placed the collection matter on my credit report which is affecting my ability to get a loan at a favorable rate.Desired Settlement: Immediate removal of the item from my credit report.

I believe that they have violated the Fair Debt Collection Act. If this is not removed, I will investigate other remedies.

Review: They had charged my husband an unknown amount of $148. When I had called the hospital to ask if we owed that money they had told me no, so I would like to know where this random $148 came from and why its on his credit report. We are trying to get his credit up and this being HIDDEN on our credit statement for a while now has messed up his credit. It's just now showing up on his statement.Desired Settlement: I would like this REMOVED from my husbands credit report, ASAP.

Review: This company has placed 3 items on my credit report for erroneous charges from a physician's office. All payments due the physician were made directly physician. This company has not tried to contact me by phone or mail. They have abusively reported 3 derogatory items on my credit report for the same physicianDesired Settlement: Agency should remove me from their collections pool, remove the derogatory items they have abusively put on my credit report

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because: This business has not attempted to contact me. If they did contact me in 2008 and 2009 I would have advised that this was submitted to them in error as any billing issues were resolved with the doctors and any dispute was closed.

Review: I called the company to discuss a collection I found on my credit report from 2010 and every agent including [redacted] the manager was extremely rude and obnoxious. I was willing to pay the acct in full, even though I wasn't completely sure what the acct was because my husband and I are trying to purchase a home. I asked for a deletion letter in exchange for full payment since I did not have validation of the debt. This way I could move forward with my purchase. It was easier than validating it and waiting for a response. After all of the rude customer service agents I decided to ask for validation through a validation letter I had faxed them and am waiting for a response. I was lied to by [redacted] the manager and another agent. This is unethical and something should be done to monitor collection actions by these companies.Desired Settlement: A deletion letter in exchange for payment

Response:

We were notified by our Client today that the bill is paid in full. We will be notifying the Credit Bureaus to update as Paid in full

Review: I just reviewed my credit report and was in total unpleasantly surprised. I'm trying to purchase a new home and when the banker reviewed my credit they denied me because of this inaccurate account with Berks Credit & Collections.I looked through every piece of paper in my records (and keep good records) and I cannot find anything showing my approval or acceptance of this account. I requested they provide me with documentation that proves 100% that I personally accepted this account 45, 90, and 120 days ago. As a result they sent me nothing that proved anything.

At this point this account is actually preventing me from purchasing a new home and as a result preventing me from roof over my children heads. This account is completely inaccurate and those inaccuracies should not be showing on my report. I disputed them on my credit report and even hired a company to help me yet they still remain. They have resulted in repeated denials of credit, lost opportunity to receive credit, economic loss, damage to my reputation, loss of self-esteem, invasion of privacy, interference with my normal and usual activities, stress in my home, stress in marriage and emotional distress

Berks Credit & Collections [redacted] -I have no idea whom this company is and have no legal agreement with them. This account has been deemed unverifiable and has been removed from all other bureaus.Desired Settlement: I consider this defamation and I want this removed from the 3 credit bureaus."

We have requested deletion of our tradeline from [redacted]'s Credit Bureau Report

Review: On Monday October 16, 2013, I telephoned Berks Collection regarding account # [redacted]. This account was a collection forwarded to Berks by [redacted]. I contacted Berks for the purposes of paying the account off in full and also having the account deleted from my credit file, in hopes of maintaining my current employment. As part of my job, I provide housing counseling to potential and current homeowners by providing financial literacy counseling and credit management. As a result, I have to maintain a good credit rating with no outstanding judgments or collection in order to retain employment ( Cant lead the sheep to the pasture when I cant get there myself). I pleaded with the staff and with management; I have never in life dealt with an establishment that lack the amount of professional ethics and human compassion as Berks. After paying the bill on that day, the credit bureau (Experian) told me that Berks confirmed that payment was still not made and that the item (collection) is still on my report and marked unpaid. I have contact my original creditor ([redacted]) and provided them with proof of my payment (reference # [redacted]) to help me with pleading my case. Im disheartened to find that an establishment possess the ability to make families across america miserable. My heart goes out to the seniors and working class folks that medical bills end up in the hands of BERKS. I hope that doctors offices and hospitals across america find the likes of [redacted], R&R Professional or some other agency that collect unpaid medical bills. The last thing that an ill person needs to deal with is a collection agency that could care less about the health and welfare of the community.Desired Settlement: My paid collection is deleted from my credit file.

We responded to and reuqesed from the Credit Bureaus on 10/16/13 to delete our tradeline for the $78 charge acct # [redacted]

Review: I have two collections on my credit reports from this agency. The first collection is from, [redacted], [redacted]., [redacted], Pa. (01/11). The amount $67.00. The second collection is from, [redacted] Hospital. The amount, $75.00. I disputed these amounts through the Trans Union Credit Bureau. Berks Credit & Collections confirmed both amounts. 1st, I have never been a patient of [redacted]. I never stepped one foot inside this business. 2nd, I have not been a patient of any kind or have I had any type of medical issues and or problems which would have required me to seek any type of assistance from [redacted] Hospital. These collections dropped my credit score over a (100) points.Desired Settlement: I demand that these issues be investigated and deleted from my credit reports, ASAP!

Review: Berks Credit has called me on multiple occasions using an autodialer system. They claim to have also attempted contact by mail, but I have not received any mail. While I've consistently answered their calls, from a masked phone number matching my own area code, they have left me on hold for over 10 minutes each time and then disconnected. I have been increasing concerned about the reason for the call, but had no idea who was doing it because they also failed to leave me messages. Today, for the first time in several months and at least 6 calls, a representative finally answered. I'm confirming the debt they claim I owe, as the company they are collecting for confirmed a few months back that my account was up to date. If it exists, then I will make payment. If not, I will file a second complaint.Desired Settlement: A commitment to amend their autodialer practices to ensure they are only calling people when they have representatives to actually be on the other end of their calls. At one point, I feared for my safety, as I could not link their number to a legitimate business. This feels like an unethical business practice to me.

Response:

In reviewing our phone records. [redacted] did opt in on 11/8/12,11/19/12,and 11/21/12. Those calls were 18,20 and 30 seconds respectively. There was a call on 01/29/13 where the call was 1 minute and we were unable to handle the call in a timely fashion. We did speak to [redacted] on 03/05/13 at which time she did pay the bills. These will not reflect on her Credit Bureau Report

Review: I received a call from Berks Credit & Collections on May 6, 2014 regarding a unpaid debt to [redacted] Hospital for services on 10/5/2012 - I told him I did not know what he was talking about and to send me information - received and called Berks on 5/13/2014 as statement said I had a balance due of $74.72, but all medical bills at [redacted] were previously paid. I was told it was for "collection fees" that my account had been sent to collection? which was news to me. I paid the full balance of my bill $249.07 directly to [redacted], check dated 2/22/13 - and cashed on 2/26/13 and I have heard nothing from them since?, until this call. I was then told that it went to collection on 2/14/13, but I was never aware of that and was never sent anything prior to the collection notice I was sent after the phone call on May 6, 2014. I tried to explain to two people, who just kept going on that this is what I owed and it needed to be paid as it was being reported on my Credit Reports. I explained to them that I had my bill, and EOB from insurance company and that I did not have a balance.... that is when I was told it was collection fees, but I said for an account that was not in collection how can that be - and they proceeded to tell me it was in collection and that this is my responsibility and MUST be paid. I asked who do I contact regarding this since [redacted] Hospital in [redacted] closed but that I had the copy of the bill, copies on my EOB from insurance company showing payment, along with copy of cancelled check for the full amount due. They said they had spend enough time with me and that I should understand that this balance is due and needs to be paid. They were very adamant about it, time and time, and I even called back to talk to someone else regarding. I have NEVER received a Collection Notice regarding [redacted] Hospital and find it odd that 1) it is over 1 year since this supposedly went to collection and this is the first I am hearing about it, and 2) [redacted] Hospital is no longer running the [redacted] office yet Berks can tell me it went to collection yet I have records of the balance paid in full to [redacted] Hospital. 3) What collection fees are $74.72 - for what? I have had NO contact with anyone and NOTHING in writing prior to the May 6th call and request for "what the heck they were talking about".Desired Settlement: 1) confirmation this was an error on their ( either [redacted] Hospital or Berks Credit & Collections) part and I in fact DO NOT have any balance due to them regarding [redacted] Hospital and 2) all negative information sent to the Credit Reporting Agencies be removed immediately.

Business

Response:

The collection fee is a fee added by our Client and is part of their financial policy. The account was placed for Collections on 02/14/13 and our Client reported payment on 02/25/13. It is possible that somehow they crossed so I am waiving the collection fee.

Review: Recently I applied for a job where a credit check is required, and was subsequently turned down. After looking into why I was turned down, I found two collections accounts this company lists on my reports: #[redacted], #[redacted].

Apparently these collections accounts are for an Obgyn visit, and a radiology visit. The health care facilities that are listed in these accounts are ones that I have never been to or even heard of!

I'd like an itemization of each appointment, the costs of each, and signatures of authorization for these medical collections. If you cannot come up with this information - then please delete these from the credit bureaus! These are not mine, and are causing my undue harm by being on my report.Desired Settlement: Deletion of the two accounts above: #[redacted], #[redacted].
