California Nails Reviews (975)

We appreciate the customer contacting us regarding their concerns. The local office spoke to the customer on Friday January 27th. We have agreed to a Promissory Note for the term the customer selected. The Note has been forwarded to the customer for review and...

We purchased carpeting for our living room and hall. The salesman was professional and helpful in choosing the appropriate carpet. It looks wonderful, is so comfortable we love it. The only disappointing part of the experience was in the poor professionalism of one of the installers that hade very frustrated when they left. I don't like having people tell me how to clean my home when it is a mess to make room for carpet installation.

It took SIX appointments and four weeks to get my floor installed. Meanwhile, my house was in disarray. #1-no call, no show. #2 they called in the morning to say there were no installers. I called to get my deposit back, but they offered me a discount to let them do the job. #3- a different crew came, removed carpet, said we had termites, but next day inspector said there was no sign of them; midday, a crew was pulled off a job 45 minutes away to get the material for our house that had been stored in our garage. #4 a different crew came, installed laminate, padding, and when they unrolled the new carpet, found it was streaked with what looked like soot. I wouldn't accept a dirty carpet. #5 Empire cancelled because of rain. #6 another, different crew came. I got my carpet. Both installations were fine once completed. It was the hassle to get them, and the prolonged disarray of my home that bothers me.
I think they could do better with the scheduling and not send out a confirmation until they have a crew committed to the job. It would be a good idea to recognize the disarray that occurs when flooring is installed in an inhabited home. I was disgusted by their attempt to pass off substandard material when I had ordered top of the line carpet. I don't know if others have had similar experiences with Empire Today.

Sales rep was A+. Installers were hardworking, professional and did an A+ job/install

Well I've never had to write a negative review on such a large company before, but here it goes.
I'm not sure where to begin. The entire experience was horrible with the exception of the salesman! We had a salesman come to our home, gave us an estimate for the items that we picked out. The salesman stated that it wouldn't take more than 4 days for the entire project. Keep in mind they had to pull up all of the old tile in our home. We had originally had tile in the living room but wanted carpet in there for a safe and comfy place for the baby to play. We wanted the process to be as fast as possible because we do have two kids who need a place to play. The bedrooms were all filled with items from the closets/pantries to include boxes, furniture, etc.. So the girls did not have access to their rooms and toys for quite some time.
Well it did not take 4-5 days... not even close. It took them 3 days just to take up the tile. Why? Because they only sent TWO people to do the entire job.
The day that the job was to begin was a Tuesday. My husband and I work and could not take leave so we recruited my mother and father-in-law to take turns alternating days that they would come to the house and allow the workers access. Day 1, my mother was there. I was at work when I received a phone call from my mom asking me where the carpet was supposed to go and where the tile was to go. The 2 workers who arrived had no idea where anything was supposed to go. They didn't know that we wanted a tiled entry way in the living room to be surrounded by carpet or how big it was supposed to be. And the worst part of it all is that neither of the two men there spoke any English. My family and I don't speak or understand Spanish so it made communicating my wants/needs regarding the floor EXTREMELY difficult. One of the workers had to call his boss (who was in Tampa 2 hours away) to have him speak to my mom to translate everything. Not being able to ask questions to the people who are in your home doing a major job like this is absurd. There were times where they would point to parts of the floor and speak Spanish to one another and they looked frustrated or confused. If there was something wrong with our floor, we were unable to ask!
The two guys worked hard and started pulling up tile with a jackhammer. After a few days of this we realized how slow this process was going to be. By day 3 we had to call the supervisor and ask him if he could possibly send more guys to help pick up the pace because life being interrupted with two kids in the home is very hard. Well the supervisor was very nice about it and the next day he called saying they had more tools and an additional person. Luckily this third person spoke English! But while the guys were working on the floor that day, the new guy tells my father-in-law that he is not a floor installer. He is actually a COOK who just needed some extra money and his buddy is one of the floor installers so he came along!! I don't think he did much but assisted with light work and watched the other two use jackhammers to pull up the old tile. But really?! You sent me a COOK to get the job done faster?!
Finally after another day all the old tile was up! Then they needed to get all of the old "mud" off the subfloor that was used to lay the old tile. That Friday afternoon when my husband and I arrived home from work, the lead guy called the supervisor to talk to us (since they didn't speak English). The supervisor tried talking us into letting the guys grind down the old "mud" to smooth it out (Not scrape it up) and they were going to use a quickset to fill it in and level it out. He said if we wanted the job done quick, this was the way to do it. He stated that the end result would be no different if they were to scrape up all the old stuff. It just didn't sound like the right way to do the job and seemed kinda shady. The English-speaking Cook told us that the boss was just trying to save money on the job by not having to pay them to work more hours to scrape up the old stuff!!
Well we didn't allow it and asked if they could just scrape up the old stuff. They did, with two jack hammers the next day. But now they've left holes (divot's) in my subfloor on every spot that there was a tile! I called the supervisor and told him this. I was concerned that we would be able to feel the divot's under the carpet once it was installed. He said that this was normal. I asked if he could have the guys fill the holes with cement or something... his response was "You want them filled? ok, I'll tell them to do that." Sounded to me like they weren't going to fill them if I hadn't asked about it! (we have pictures) Another point is that every time they came, they were in an unmarked white van... no license number, no company name, nothing. I don't know if these people are even licensed contractors since they sent me a COOK!
Since we asked that they try to move this along faster they worked over the weekend for us which we appreciated greatly. At this point they had started to lay the new tile. Unfortunately, they only sent one guy. He was working by himself laying the tile. Then I noticed that the guy wasn't using a wet saw to cut the tiles. My understanding of laying tile is that a wet saw is needed. He was using a dry saw in my front yard. Luckily the tile cuts turned out ok.
Then we went into week 2. It took 3 more days of laying tile before we could schedule the carpet installer for the living room. The tile workers were very hard workers and were very nice. Even though I had to use a translator app on my phone to thank them and tell them what a great job they did, they seemed to understand. They finished grouting the tile on day 8 and left our house at 9pm that night.
Finally that Friday we had the carpet guy come. My father-in-law was there for the installation so he was not aware of what carpet or padding we had ordered. He allowed the installer access and voila! We had carpet when we got home. Upon first impression it looked really good! FINALLY we can start putting the house back together. Upon further inspection about 2 days later we started to see the seam in the carpet where it was cut and put together in the living room. We also stepped on tack strips that were sticking up through the carpet at every entry way. (which really hurt by the way and we didn't want the baby crawling on them!) The carpet glue that was used at the seam seeped out in some spots and is now in small dried hard globs along the seam. It feels like there is NO padding under the carpet. It's not a soft landing at all. When you knock on the carpet with your fist it sounds like you are hitting concrete. The overall feel of the carpet just seems very chinsy, or poorly made. The tile looks great! But we are less than impressed with the carpet. The sample that we felt was a lot softer or more plush than this stuff is.
I called Empire to complain about the carpet. I stated all of the concerns that I mentioned above. I told the person on the phone that I need to see what padding is under the carpet because if feels like there is none. Having 2 kids and 3 dogs in the home, I know that we ordered the top of the line padding that is spill resistant in case of accidents. The lady said "absolutely". Well they sent to guys (again who don't speak English and came in an unmarked van) I told them what the issue was and he said "ok". He left and came back with a hammer. He got down on the floor and started feeling around for the tack strip. As he did this I asked him if he could pick up the carpet for me so that I could verify the padding under there. He looked at me like I was crazy and said "No" and began to hammer down the tack strip.
I still do not know if there is padding under my carpet or if it's what we ordered. I don't know if Empire has a customer satisfaction guarantee, but we are not happy with the carpet or the padding (if there is any) whatsoever and would rather have either a different carpet and padding or get it from somewhere else. A few years back in our old house we had [redacted] install carpet there and it was amazing! It was soft, plush, held up very well and we had no idea where that seam was at! This stuff from Empire seems to be very low-grade stuff.
I've also had issues trying to call and reschedule the repair. I called and had it set for a Friday. I called on Thursday to have it rescheduled for Monday. The lady said she had it in there. I then receive a call about an hour later from someone trying to confirm my appointment for Friday. I said "no, I just called an hour ago and rescheduled it for Monday". She said "ok, hang on one second please"..... then another lady picked up and said "can I help you?" I explained to her the situation and she said "ok, can you hold for one minute please?" Then she came back and said "ok, I have you in here for Monday and tomorrow's appointment is canceled." ...... Good.
Then Friday morning I receive a call while at work from the installer who says "Hi, we have a repair man who is in your area and can come now instead of later today if you'd like?" I was very frustrated at this point and told her "NO, I rescheduled it TWICE now for Monday." She says "You did? Do you mind holding for one second please?"...... Really? This is so frustrating.
This entire process has been nothing but a headache for us and we are not impressed by Empire's so-called professional installation whatsoever. We are paying an obscene amount of money that we still have to pay for this crappy service and shouldn't have to put up with this stuff. We do not intend to recommend Empire Today to ANYONE. I just want nice carpet.

Contact Empire and they had a sales rep out the next day (Saturday). He arrived on time, was polite, took measurements, selected the laminate floor, and received a price quote within two hours. Received a call the following Monday from Empire asking if I wanted to go ahead and have a financing representative drop by to finalize and schedule installation. When he came, I began to get that uneasy feeling when he said he needed to take measurements, and then I could pick out the flooring. Wait! I just spent two hours on Saturday doing this part. When I voiced concern, he told me there would not be any more hiccups, and even discounted the final price a bit. Feeling a bit better. He advised that installation would begin on Thursday and last through Saturday. I let him know I had a medical appointment Friday afternoon that could not be rescheduled, and the installation crew would need to accommodate. He let me know it was not an issue, and to tell the lead on the installation crew when they arrived.
Thursday came, the crew was on-time, and things seemed to be going very well. I let the lead know that Friday I had an appointment and they would need to break off two hours early. His response to me was that he comes in from Austin, does not work on Saturday, and would like to stay and work while I was at my appointment. What? First, I was told work was Thursday through Saturday. Second, stay and work in the home without me there? Don’t think so. I let him know I would do what I could, but the appointment could not be rescheduled.
Friday came, and progress on the floor was good. Until I reminded him of the appointment. Once I did, he said he needed to get the job finished that day, and needed to stay in the home whilst I was away. I then made it clear that I was not going to allow that, and that they needed to finish on Saturday. To which he responded again that he comes in from Austin, and needed to finish today. If not, he would have to come back Monday. So, I told him, Monday it is.
During the weekend I had time to evaluate the work being done, and was beginning to find small things I was not happy about. But, I held off until the work was done on Monday came and the work was supposedly completed. During my walkthrough I found many issues. First, they had to cut the front portion of each step to make the square. They were originally rounded off, which created an issue with laying the laminate flat. Understandable… However while cutting, the workers tore into my banister with their saw, chewing up the wood. When I brought it to the leads attention, his response was, “I did my best.” What??? Next, the reduction of the stair size left a hole in the wall between the stair and the molding. The lead told me he was not responsible for fixing or repairing that because it is part of the original stairs. What the…? You cut my stairs to accommodate the laminate, leaving a gaping hole!!!! The final straw was finding a two-and-a-half foot scratch deep into the laminate in the master bedroom. The lead said he had no more materials, and would fix after he ordered more at a later date.
Needless to say, I did not sign the final paperwork. I then called the main office and the lady who answered said she would contact the installation manager. I asked if she could have him call me because I had pictures and wanted to explain. To which she replied, “No. He will call the crew.” Really??? I’m the one who is having a not-so-good experience here. Not the crew. Needless to say, I have not received a call back from anyone. The lead seemed to want to appease me, but I’m not happy at all. Wish I could post Images to show that lousy work.

We were very happy and satisfied with all aspects of our experience with Empire Today's services.

Great experience with empire from the first phone call to the finished flooring. Every thing went smoothly and all expectations were met.

So we have had 2 accounts opened with Empire, and spent a lot of money on flooring, totaling over $8,000. Here is my main complaint. The sales agent came out to look at our partially finished basement, which did not have flooring in yet. He showed us this LVT ( Luxury Vinyl Tile ). The sales agent suggested this product for the basement as it was a smooth, level concrete floor. We selected a color and grout and all. I asked if this will be ok in a basement - no water issues and he said it would be perfectly fine. We had it installed a year ago, and sure enough, the grout is coming apart, tiles are lifting and the general installation was horrible. grout lines are not even, spacing is not correct and now I have to deal with this??? I call empire and the first thing they tell me is I probably have water damage, or my house is settling. Way to deflect an issue with your installation/product! They said in order to have someone come out and look at it, they would need to charge me $125.00. I don't think so!!!!
They did not charge me the $125....yet. I am sure they will toss it on my bill somehow though.
Inspectors came out and even commented on how bad the work was done. Did not use the correct spacers, lines were not level etc. One of the 2 gentlemen took out a razor knife and cut a tile out. Now...they use this extreme glue to put on the concrete and heat it with a propane torch, then put the tile down. He pulled the tile up, and seemed to have some condensation on it, as we all know concrete needs to breathe and with this glue, trapped any evaporation. His assessment was to have Empire replace all the flooring as it was not installed correctly and there are locations without any moisture at all.
I get a call from Empire today telling me that I have a water issue and there is nothing they can do. They said the inspector took a moisture reading and it was at 85%. Interesting how he took a reading when I was standing right beside him the whole time. VERY SHADY!
I am NOT paying for this to be installed again, and they will come out to fix it, or I will consult an attorney. Even if they need to use a different material at a lower cost, I don't care. They will also pay to have the pool table leveled again as it will need to be moved. So sad that a company like this treats people this way.
If they do not replace this I will not be recommending them to anyone.

We were very disappointed in the poor service we received from Empire. They initially scheduled our installation for Saturday between 9 and 11. They called Saturday morning to tell us our installer would arrive between 3 and 5. This was after we rearranged our day for a 9-11 arrival. When we had t h are from them by 430 we called and were told the installer was on the way. By 630 we gave up and called to cancel. At 8:06 pm the installer showed up and lied stating he tried to call us. All prior calls were made on our cell phones. He called our home phone. However he called at 7:41 pm, which is was after we had called to cancel. This happened in Rowlett TX. Very disappointed in this level of service. When I called to cancel the CSR didn't apologize for the inconvenience or show compassion at all.

Obtaining a Lien Waiver from a business should be pretty simple and it had proven to be with one vendor who I worked with that provided me the information in one day. Not Empire Today's SE WI location. Customer Service is not there business. While working through the sale of my home, obtaining a Lien Waiver for recent installations was required. It took them 23 days and 7 different phone calls to finally obtain the Lien Waiver. They claim that mailed the Lien Waiver immediately to the address that was on the account. The address that was on the account was a property that I own but at which I do not live (nor have I for the past 2.5 year). The sales person that set up my account was well aware of my living situation as evidenced by the empty house and our direct conversation, yet he set up my account so that even my bill from the financing company was sent to the old address (at which I cannot receive mail because I am not listed as living there) which almost led to late fees. Every subsequent call, including the call on the very DAY that I closed on the house, involved asking them to send to my current address as well as my email address, the last 3 calls giving them two email addresses and asking them to send to both. With 3 hours to spare before closing on the house, I received the Lien Waiver. Empire Today did a good job at scheduling an appointment to sell carpet, and selling a carpet, but really needs to work on their paper work and their "customer service department", the latter of which is an absolute joke. The only thing that customer service is focused on is scheduling meetings with sales people or installations. I have no doubt that customer service contacted the correct person to provide the Lien Waiver, but their lack of follow up was disturbing.

I purchased my Empire Today Carpeting less than two years ago for two very large rooms. I opted for the upgraded padding and all the bells and whistles the sales rep offered. After 15 month’s large bubbles, as well as the seams became visible. I called Empire Today and was told in a rude fashion that installation was warranted for just 12 months. I asked how the seams could be installation and not a failure of the product and was told they are and there is nothing they can do. I continued to speak to supervisor etc all with no solutions other than they would offer me a discounted rate of $491 to come and re-stretch the carpets however this would not solve the seam issue. I am extremely disappointed that the carpet I spent over $7,000 dollars would last less than 2 years in rooms that are very low traffic (master bedroom and a den). I am extremely disappointed and I hope Empire Today contacts me immediately to rectify this situation so I can update that post. Until that time I would not do business with them.

Miki [redacted]. Empire is a wonderfully professional company they showed up on time wonderful quote accurate quote and wonderful installation with a great quality carpet and warranty

My experience was excellent. The installation crew was amazing; we allowed a two-day window for getting the work done, and they were done in less than a full day. They were quick, efficient, thorough, and cleaned up everything. I am very happy with my new vinyl floor.

Empire today was awesome to deal with, very professional. Great team of people to work with

We have had opportunities to do business with. Each time EXCEPTIONAL EXP.

I had carpet installed in my family room. My entire experience was very smooth. Everything happened on time and in order from my appointment to my installation. I am very glad that I chose to use Empire Today.

Beware: This company won't honor their referral program. I purchased LVT & carpeting in my home. I referred my daughter which spent $6,000 and they wouldn't honor the $100 referral that they promised me. I made several attempts to call, was put on hold, with an unacceptable answer of NO. So much for customer service...

I absolutely love empire today, this is my second experience with them and they are AWSOME! From make the appointment to the sales process it is so easy. Our sales women did everything she could to get us where we wanted to be with our new floors. The installation was fabulous clean, quick and did an absolutely beautiful job. I highly recommend empire today.

I was extremely satisfied with this experience.
Salesman and Installer were on time and specified work was completed satisfactorily.
The installation zip code was [redacted].
