California Nails Reviews (975)

Checking prices on laminate and hardwood flooring, I decided to go with Empire Today figuring the process would be a one-stop shop. The salesman explained the difference in the two types of flooring, warranties, etc. I decided on a simple laminate for my dining area. The price was 25% less than another company's rock bottom offer. Installation was easy-the installers were professional and addressed all questions and concerns. For laminate sales and installation, I'd recommend Empire Today.

Convient in house product review; measurments accurate (as compred to other national stores). Good prices; installation completed on time in a professional manner; high quality product.

We were very happy with our experience with this company. I requested an appointment online and a polite, knowledgeable salesman was here the next day. I had to reschedule the installation twice and they had no problem accommodating us. Our house was totally repainted, including the baseboard, and before I could ask the installer he mentioned how nice the house looked & said they'd be extra careful especially with the baseboard. We were amazed and so happy when we saw that not one area had to be touched up after installation. We would highly recommend this company.

Excellent Company. Great Salesperson, arrived on time, came out on a Saturday. We found our carpet within minutes. Put in our order, met the dellivery date as scheduled, called in advance to let us know when they would be arriving and did so right on time. the installers were excellent, very courteious, clean, and did everything expected of them. Want to have them back when I do my next carpet install in my office.

The Contractor that came to do the job was gone for more than 4 hours on the first day. Plus, he took a 2 hour lunch break. When he returned he stated that he had to go to a warehouse in Houston for materials. He blamed Empire for this. Empire personal blamed him. On the second day, he ran out of flooring. A 1 day job has taken 5 days to complete. He stated he'd come back on Monday. On Monday I was told that my flooring had to be ordered and couldn't be installed until Tuesday. When you call to complain, no one can help (only a supervisor). Plus, they don't document everything you report. I had complaints from the first day of service. A General Manager was supposed to call back about a refund. As of the 4th day, he still hasn't returned my call.

Very pleased with Empire Today, to the sales personal to the installers.. Good job! I love my floors.

I am a single mother working full time. My time is valuable as I have a busy schedule with children, school and work. I submitted a request for an in home estimate the first week of February for Wednesday February 11th between the hours of 5 pm to 7pm. I rushed to get home and get my children fed before a representative would be there. I did not receive a phone call until after 6 pm letting me know the representative was not able to make it for unnamed purposes. I rescheduled my appointment for today Saturday February 14th between the hours of 11 am and 1 pm. I did not receive a phone call until after 12 pm and the person on the phone told me the representative cancelled due to a blizzard/weather conditions. I have things I could be taking care of but instead I rearranged my schedule for a second time to be here. I was planning on replacing carpeting, vinyl on my floors and cellular shades in every room. Not only have you wasted my time but currently it is not snowing and the roads are clear. I am very disappointed and disturbed. It is one thing to cancel an appointment, another thing to wait until the appointment time to cancel. Most businesses/offices will charge a fee for that. How much is my time worth to you. It is quite clear.

DO NOT USE EMPIRE - TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE: On the day we were to have our carpet installed (Thursday) in our house they showed up without the carpet for upstairs (1/2 order). The order was on two page and the second page of our order wasn't seen so it wasn't entered. Had them install carpet in family room, master bedroom, hall and stairs with what they had that day. Scheduled for them to come back the following week on Friday (took off work again) to complete the downstairs - living room and dining room. The phone rang in the morning and was told we would be the second job of the day (we should have been the first job of the day). I resigned myself to the fact they would not be there till afternoon. When it got to be 3:00, I called customer service to find out where they were. The guy said he would find out and he never called me back. I called the GM I had talked to last Thursday and he said they were having problems at the first job. He said they should be done in about an hour and then come to our house. At 5:55 p.m. I get a call saying they would not be able to make it today. I told them they needed to get there tomorrow. So we were told they would be there Saturday morning. At 9:30 Saturday morning we get a call saying they are overbooked and can't make it. Now they are scheduled to come on the next Saturday. I am not taking another day off work for this company.

My husband and I feel totally ripped off by the amount we are paying and feel we should be compensated for taking off work and the inconvenience of having them not show up now twice. I have called the General Manager for Indiana/Ohio and left a message giving my displeasure with what has happened. He has not returned my call. Again, poor customer service!

Also they make you pay up front so they already have our money! I will never pay a company until the work is completed.

I recently had laminate floors installed by Emoire Today. The floors look really good. The price was just right. Aside from the appointment mishap, it was a great experience.

I see that the company added a comment to my review on 03/18/2016, however, I have yet to hear from anyone. I had to call and complain again today about this very thing. My floor looks like it has cellulite and the puddy that was the "fix" for my seams being having a gap is not correct. The floor now has bubbles around the "fix" on top of looking a mess. Everyone that comes into my home comments on the terrible job. The $3000 I spent was pretty much a waste of my hard earned money.

I had engineered wood installed 3/7/16. The product was beautiful. The installers were careful of our home, our health (dust kept outside - the saw cutting the trim pieces), and our satisfaction (having us look at the room at various times during the day). This experience was excellent.

So far Empire has failed to communicate fully on our floor installation twice! The first time we spoke with a rep, picked out our desired flooring and set an installation date. We contacted Empire before our installation date and ask to speak with the rep again and recalculate the space, because we wanted to cover a different size of area. We never heard from the rep so we called again to set another appt. We never heard from that rep either.... They eventually called 3 weeks later to confirm our installation, in which I terminated that quickly. We have Empire another chance and set up another installation date, and signed papers stating that the installers will call the morning of and give us an expected time of arrival. We waited from 8am until 12pm and never heard from anyone, so we called to confirm, only to hear that one of their installers didn't show up for work, and they weren't going to be able to do the installation. My wife and I moved all of the furniture early that morning to help the installers and waited for 4 hours until WE called to find out this news... Their excuse was, I'M SO SORRY I FORGOT TO CALL YOU.

I moved into my fiance's house and was getting mine ready to put on the market and all of this being done within 2 weeks of our wedding so we were rushed. Tim the salesman was great to work with. When the installers came to pull up the old vinyl and put down new, the one in the kitchen had a large scratch and bubbled up near a cabinet. I was putting it on the market in 3 days and was expecting the typical run around. Well, we didn't get that after contacting Tim and sending him pics. Bill, the Orlando manager, called me at 7:30pm to assure me that he would take care of the problem within 2 days. 2 days later, they brought a whole new roll to install and it is perfect. Great experience with Empire! Customer satisfaction 100% and A+ from us.

Do NOT use this company! They misrepresent themselves and when called out on it will argue with you. We were thankful to have an honest contractor who believed in using appropriate materials and not sub-par materials supplied from Empire. We had almost a $10,000 job for ceramic tile, carpet, and hardwoods that I had to cancel due to misrepresentation the morning work was supposed to start. If I had not had an honest contractor and one who believed in doing work the correct way then I would have been [redacted] being a female and my husband not being here to oversee the job. When called to cancel we were offered incentives, but too late. This company is dead to me and I will NEVER trust a company to do any work in my home who misrepresents themselves from what was discussed with my husband and the salesman at the time the deposit was provided. We will see if my money is refunded correctly; if not, then I will be disputing charges from this company and filing a complaint.

I have had an extremely trying time with this project. I am getting nowhere filing a complaint with Empire. I have had three tickets submitted and no replies. I have a door propped up on a wall because out no longer fits, 18" of trim that is missing and I have NEVER received a follow up at all about the whole experience. No warranty information, was called at 7 am on a Saturday to pick up paperwork that had been forgotten during the week, was told my installation would be Monday August 22, installers didn't arrive until 3 pm and had to come back Tuesday. To do this I had to leave my home unlocked and unattended for them to finish. What poor customer service.
The whole experience is bad. I will never use Empire again. Not installing doors that fit because "it's not what you do" and replacing trim to complete a project is really a poor business model Empire should reevaluate.
I have borrowed a skil saw and will do it myself.
There are flaws as well with the floor and the toilet sits crooked.
Still no warranty information.
Still have not received a phone call since my last ticket Friday. Or any phone call about the experience in general.
I have told numerous people of my experience who have to do lists and buckets of money, not going to Empire.
I'm sure if I were a man, these would have been taken more seriously and treated with some validity. I'm also sure that the floors would have been finished the day they were scheduled.

Very happy with my experience with Empire Today. The representative did not try to sell me anything above my means. The installers came in the time-frame that was quoted for me. The installers did an excellent job. When they were finished, made sure everything was cleaned up.

JUST LOVE IT! From the sales representative to the end of the installation. EXCELLENT!

"I wish I had the invoice # to share with you . I paid Empire TODAY TO INSTALL a floor in my living/ dining room. this ordeal turned into something crazy. The day of the installation Empire showed up to my home with 40 boxes of the wrong tile. (first mistake). Of course they had to reschedule the install. The next week they arrived with the correct tile ,however din not have any of the material needed to install the tile. They were trying to put the tile down with a felt underlayment(second mistake). After arguing with them for two hours because I asked them to follow the work order and bring the material promised on the sales receipt. At this time Empire Today decided to go to [redacted] to purchase the material needed for the install. The install was done like a bunch of armatures were doing the install. After the tile was installed EMPIRE TODAY never returned to finish the saddle or the quarter rounds needed to finish the job. I had to call customer service over 23 times for them to just say they would issue a credit for $80.00. I had to call [redacted] to come in and finish the last part. Now its JULY 2015 and several tiles have popped up. I called EMPIRE TODAY 07/11/2016. They informed me someone will come out 07/15/2016 to fix the tiles . After receiving 5 calls from EMPIRE TODAY , the 5th call was just to inform me no one will be coming out to fix the tiles ,and they will be able to reschedule me for 07/22/2016 if I like . Once again EMPIRE TODAY was not able to resolve anything after spending $4000.00 on this floor. My advice is STAY AWAY FROM EMPIRE TODAY . ITS NOT WORTH THE HEAD ACHES AND MENTAL GRIEF//TRUST ME "

Bad for flooring! Stay away for flooring!
"This was our first and last experience with Empire Carpet:
Wednesday, 6/15, we were to have the carpet installed. That particular appointment went well. The guys arrived on time, did a good job of installing the carpet and cleaned up adequately. It looks nice.
Thursday, 6/16, the same company was to install the vinyl planking in the kitchen. They were to be here between 2 pm and 4 pm. At 4:30 pm when they still hadn't arrived, I called their customer service line. The guy tried to call the installer several times and couldn't get an answer. So he said he would keep trying and call me back when he had talked to them. Never heard from him. At 5:30 pm I called again, the girl I talked to after 20 minutes on hold put her supervisor on. The supervisor Amy said the installer had called in and said that he couldn't come that day because the job before ours had turned out to be too extensive. So she offered a $150 off our install price and promised me we would be first install in the morning. I said ok. About 7:30 am the office called to say the installers would be there between 8 am and 10 am. About an hour and a half later, she called back to say that the time had been moved to between 3 pm and 5 pm. Needless to say I was not happy. The installers did get here a little after 3 pm. The first thing the guy did was walk over to our heating registers and pull them up. He proceeded to tell us that is there could be asbestos in the tile underneath, he would not install our floor. He said that he would require a lab test that we could get at any lab (??). He said it would cost about $5000 to remove the flooring that was there. We got this whole long dissertation about why. Also he had the incorrect quarter round, so he couldn't do the whole job that day anyway. He basically refused to do it. So we had to cancel the flooring install. Thanks for nothing. "

Empire Today- not today, not ever!
"This is the 3rd time I've attempted to get these clowns out for an estimate. I should have given up after the 2nd attempt.
The customer service people are clueless, but when one realizes that they're trying to represent a company that won't follow through with appointments, you begin to pity them. I imagine turnover in that department is high. As they're the only people one can reach, I would guess they get chewed out frequently.
The area manager out of the Macon office must work very abbreviated hours. He "left for the day" before 3:30 pm.
Color this would-be customer disgusted & frustrated.
I give Empire Today 2 thumbs down & a big fat F. "

Empire NOT TODAY or TOMORROW!
"Actually when I first had my laminate flooring and carpet installed everything was GREAT! However, about 2 years down the road my laminate flooring started to warp and bubble up. I hardly had to clean the laminate but when I did it was with a very damp mop and I distinctly remember the sales rep Dave, show me that water would not get between the creases by putting a dollar bill between both laminate pieces, showing that the flooring was "air tight". I finally decided to call Empire because they stated that there was a " 25 year warranty". While speaking to the rep on the phone she asked if there were any leaks in my home or flooding, I stated No, she said that she would need to send somebody out to examine the floors to make sure there were no leaks and there was a $50 charge for them to come out and assess the damaged areas. Yesterday 2/10, was the day they were scheduled to come examine the floor and let me know it was still covered. At 8:15 am, I received a call from Empire stating that they would be at my home between the hours of 10 am and 12 noon, by 4 pm they still did not show up nor call and let me know that they were running late. I called them, they apologized and said they would be at my home between 5:30 and 6:30 pm. At 7 pm they were still not at my home, I called again to cancel and reschedule the appointment because I have a LIFE and things to do besides waste my entire day waiting around for them but they said that they were only 5 minutes away. Finally at 7:30 pm they arrived, I showed them the damaged area and within 5 minutes they said it was not covered due to water damage. I said that there were no leaks or anything but they clearly did not care to hear what I had to say. After about 10 minutes of them being at my home they let me know that Empire would contact me and give a quote for redoing the entire floor and the kicker, they said they needed to collect the $50 fee for coming out to my home. I was shocked but was so upset and wanted them out, I just wrote them a check. Be very careful using this company people and do your research before you decide."

"Updated Report: The employee handed me a form to sign that the work was completed and I did not provide my signature but wrote several notes. Then the worker handed me a blank form of the same form I wrote on.
What????I have no record of my original form...this is Empire Today's method of poor methods and customer service.
Original report: I sat down with Empire Today's salesman, Sean [redacted] and decided to go with their 50/50/50 deal for installation of laminate floors in my master bedroom and office. After researching several other local companies, I believe this 50/50/50 deal is a scam. My fault for not searching prior to going with this awful company. They were still more expensive than other quotes. With that said, the company arrived on a cold January 2016 day. Two of the three [redacted] workers did not speak English. Therefore, it made it difficult to communicate at the onset. They kept leaving my front door open after asking them to close the door multiple times. In addition, the electric saw was just outside the front door and was extremely loud. After the work was nearly done, the English speaking worker came to me and said they did not have enough boards. I was flabbergasted. I immediately called Sean and he said, "I have some personal contacts and I will call you back." It has been several days and no one from Empire Today not even Sean has called me! Not one! Not even the salesman. This shows how much they DO NOT care about their customers and how they only care about getting their money. Today, I receive an automated appointment via email and that I am scheduled for completion this Saturday! I won't be here and it is a "noreply" email! Now, for their work. The quarter round work was awful. One section of quarter round came to a "point??!!" The transition boards were awful. There were gaps and overcuts. Here is what they did. They filled the transition board gaps with white caulk! Unbelievable! They left my bedroom door dirty with their black gloves and dirty hands. It was awful. Never ever use Empire Today due to their salesman's lack of professionalism and their workers lack of English speaking workers and more importantly, the extremely poor craftsmanship. It just goes to show that companies like this boast about they have been in business for so many years and great customer service - NOT! NEVER AGAIN Empire Today! And, all of my [redacted] family and friends will know! I will use the power of social media!"

"We shopped the "[redacted] Stores" and got both a carpet quote and a laminated wood floor quote, the quotes cost us $50, which is supposed to be credited to the order. Anyway, we called Empire Today because they give free quotes. After we negotiated a little the Empire rep's "all inclusive" carpet price quote was about $100 less than the [redacted] carpet quote. The Empire quote for the laminate wood flooring was $300 higher, but the Empire rep also explained that they are the only ones anywhere that give a "topical water warranty" on laminate. Considering the customer service, warranty and price we are planning to go with Empire. We have to wait for our tax refund before we can actually make the purchase, but so far Empire is very fair."

"Had Empire sales rep stop by today. We where shown the 60% off and the not on sale carpet. Well the 60% off was only .06 cents cheaper than the normal price carpet. Which the normal price carpet was higher quality. We called the sale rep on it and we couldn't receive a clear straight answer.
Then we had the sales rep called "office" to get the best price on the carpet that wasn't on sale. They dropped the price almost 45%. Then we asked about the 60% off carpet and they dropped it to the same price range as the other carpet. My wife and I ask how is that possible. From that point on the sale rep attitude completely changed. The sales rep became rude and snooty.. and other few choice words that I would get this post removed."

Terrible. New carpet installed. Multiple inspects where I spectors agreed installed poorly. Was told if outside lighting didn't highlight poor work I wouldn't notice bad work. $3000 later told too bad. Beware empire will not support the install of it is done incorrectly.

The initial sales appointment went quite well. We were comfortable with our Representative and with his explanation of process and products. Our installation team were wonderful! They helped with our furniture and were very respectful of our things. Our new carpet was put in professionally and quickly. If needed, we would use Empire Today San Diego again.
