February 4, ? To whom it may concern: ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? This letter is in response to Ms*** ***’s complaint #***The nature of Ms***’s complaint is in regard the remaining balance due on her account from discontinuing in her FlexPath program? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? Ms*** has rejected our response stating that her financial aid was returned prior to her withdrawal from CapellaOur FlexPath programs are billed based on enrollment in a week billing session.? The benefit of the FlexPath program is that students can complete multiple courses within a billing session without any additional cost.? The tuition cost is not determined per course or per credit, but rather by week time frames in which multiple courses can be attended and completed? As Ms*** had one course that started in the first billing session and was completed in the next billing session, she was charged for both billing sessionsAfter completion of the first course in the second billing session there was no subsequent enrollmentAs there was no enrollment we were unable to request and apply the second portion of financial for that sessionThis resulted in the balance for the full second billing session remaining on your account? In addition, Ms*** dropped down to credits in the second billing session of payment period Each payment period is split in to two twelve week billing sessions, however a learner must maintain continuous enrollment during the whole twenty-four week payment period to maintain financial aid eligibility ? Due to being enrolled in credits during the twenty-four week payment period, we were required by federal regulations to calculate the amount of aid that was earned while participating in courserooms, and return any unearned Title IV funding to the Department of Education.? This calculation was completed on 2/4/2016, and required that we return $of federal financial aid to the Department of Education? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? We apologize for any hardship or confusion this situation has caused Ms***, but the balance that is due to Capella is a result of her withdrawing from her program and not completing enough credits within her 24-week payment periodWe encourage Ms*** to continue working with our business office to arrange a suitable payment plan if she is unable to resolve the balance all at oncePlease feel free to reach out with any additional questions or concerns ? ? I am rejecting this response because:
I was misinformed by advising staff and brought that up on multiple occasionsAnd can someone explain how it is within the institutions policy for tutors to not show up for appointments more than once or to only be accessible at late night hours? Additionally is it standard and acceptable for a professor to not respond for weeks? ? It was when I called to clarify about the fafsa that I was told by and advisor to complete my aid for this year and then subsequently told to submit for last year past the date? If the school wishes to take no action I will be taking this to the media and higher education boards? The schools practices are predatory and they hold no accountability? This is not the first time I have raised any of these concerns? I wish for this to be reconsidered before I take further action? These practices hold a reputational risk for the school and that should be highly considered? I have compiled others who have experienced similar situations and are willing to join me in my claims if it gets to the point I must take it further than this mediation.? I did reach out to the scholarship team and have proof that I did so

? I am rejecting this response because:This is information I've already stated and the basis of this complaintIf the university had students enrolled in a doctoral program that was retired and not even worthy of a lessor masters degree the students should have been informed and afforded the opportunity to have their tuition refundedThe current excuse is unacceptable!

? I am rejecting this response because: ? Attached signed 3rd party authorization.?

? I am rejecting this response because:
I did NOT attend another school.? I only attended Capella at that time.? I am ALSO being charged for a new quarter and have dropped out of the school WAY before the deadline

Ms*** continues to state that the balance she currently owes is due to issues stemming from her FlexPath experienceHowever; this balance is a result of Guided Path courses taken during the summer term in which she dropped the courses after the drop dateIn regards to Ms ***’s claims regarding FlexPath; members of the FlexPath leadership have spoken to Ms*** several times and there has been no error found that resulted in her inability to be successful? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? We apologize for any hardship this situation may have caused Ms***, but there is no error regarding the balance due on her account as she dropped these courses after the drop date clearly outlined in University policyWe will not be taking action to reduce her balance or cease collection activityWe encourage Ms*** to respond to our outreach if she has any additional questions or concerns regarding this matter, or requires further clarification? MrJ***, the Capella university representative, was asked to provide a copy with time and date stamp for drop date of the course from the email correspondence that I sent to their staffA response was noted that stated that the drop was initiated through iGuide and therefore no email was receivedI have to disagree with the respondentAccording to Capella's Course Registration policy VII, C- a learner can drop a class by contacting enrollment services, etcby email with language that is clear in intention to droppingThis policy was in effect at the time I registered for and dropped this course and was the process I used to drop this classI want to be sure that this email date received is noted correctly in my account, and not a Capella mistake of not reading and/or responding to the email until that timeIf this email was sent before the 21st of January 2012, which I believe it was, and it was a Capella mistake that this course was not noted to be dropped until that time, I feel that I am not responsible for 100& of the fundsEspecially since the difference in funds owed to Capella are within a few hours of the 2nd Friday drop datePlease provide that email with time and date stamp and the response email noting that the drop was received as soon as possibleI am only requesting this information because I would like the amount that Capella states that I owe to be completely validated
MrJ*** also assumes that I did not speak with a Capella Academic Adviser prior to dropping the class but the person that I did speak to referred me to and we discussed the financial policy, which at the time, I was well within days of, and informed me that I was within the time frame to drop the course with little financial implicationsThis is why I am requesting the emails, that I no longer have access to because of being taken off of iGuide until I recently requested access to view my account
Capella university representative MrJ*** was emailed with this response as well

February 15,
To whom it may concern:
This letter is in response to Ms*** ***'s complaint from case #*** submitted on 1/30/Ms***'s complaint is centered on a course that was taken then dropped during the winter course, and the unresolved balance owed to Capella
The email submitted to Capella on 1/21/stating "Unfortunately I will be unable to continue with my studies this semesterI need to find out how to drop out of Capella UniversityPlease respond as soon as possibleThank you!" , of which a copy was sent in the previous Revdex.com response, is the first and only interaction where Ms*** indicated she wanted to drop her courseWe have attached a copy of Ms***'s 1/21/email as well as her enrollment record for the winter term showing the date she logged on to iGuide to drop her course in a previous response
We apologize for any undue hardship or stress that this situation may have caused Ms***, but we have diligently researched her drop per her request, and the balance due for the course dropped is congruent with our published tuition and fees refund policyWe would encourage her to work with our business office to arrange a payment plan if resolving the balance all at one time causes difficulty for herPlease feel free to contact me with any additional questions or concerns

Capella University is jeopardizing my graduate education and not a professional university!!
I have filed complaints about Capella late last year with one of the same issues, which is financial aid problemsI had to file these complaints in order for the school to give me my money (tuition disbursements from financial aid)This was a problem that first occurred from September to just before December last yearTheir alleged "IT issue" is still not fixed, causing my account wth the school to be in owing balance when it shouldn't be as well as me not receiving my disbursement againI have one coming up in the first week of March and their issue is still not solvedThe most recent issue with them is currently, I got dropped from my current course (while no one emailed, called or anything to tell me this; I found out myself by logging on trying to see my graded paper and seeing I was no longer registeredI called the school Wednesday 2/17/to ask why and they told me it's because my account has a balanceThis balance is first of all, not my fault as financial aid/fafsa covers this and the school shouldn't be holding me liable for that because of an IT issue on their end that's been going on for monthsSecondly, I am now having to out my education on hold because of this issue, not being able to continue my graduate degree workI am absolutely furious with this school at this pointI either want them to fix this course problem and get me my disbursement in the first week of March, or to credit me back a portion of ,y education so I can go elsewhereThis is just ridiculous and I have never had problems with a college/university like themI will also take the necessary next steps to get this solved with one of these options if I need to
I am wanting a refund of a portion of my expenses/education that I've wasted and dealt with being at this schoolI also want them to give me my financial aid disbursement due in the first week of March which is supposed to be $1,

To whom it may concern:
This letter is in response to Ms*** ***'s complaint #***Ms***'s complaint centers around the delay in getting her FlexPath financial aid disbursement and refund
When Ms*** moved into her second Payment Period in August, we were not able to disburse financial aid to her due to what we refer to internally as the "hard close issue" This issue persisted through her entire payment period 2, so the week before Thanksgiving we reached out and offered her a Financial Aid Refund Advance for Billing Sessions & in the amount of $2, She then finished up payment period on 2/4/2016, and moved into Academic Year and was again charged tuition Recently, we were able to determine that her disbursement issues were related to how our third-party FlexPath financial aid vendor was reading (or not reading) the weeks she attended in a course she failed We were able to correct this misread in the system, and we actually disbursed her financial aid from all past due billing sessions on 2/23/ This effectively covered any balances she had on her account from the first academic year, and her current charges from the second academic year She now also has an additional refund processing out to her direct deposit account for $1,as of today, 2/25/
We apologize for any undue hardship or stress that this situation may have caused Ms***We do not anticipate that there will be any further technical issues or delays in the disbursement of her financial aidPlease feel free to contact me with any further questions or concerns
