SCAM!!! I WANT MY MONEY BACK NOW!
ITS BEEN 4 FREAKIN YEARS SINCE I REGISTERED FOR THE CUYAHOGA FALLS OHIO BLACK LIGHT RUN WITH COOL EVENTS. WHEN I REGISTERED I ALSO SPENT CLOSE TO $100 ON THE STARTER PACK AND OTHER MERCH FOR THE EVENT THAT I WAS SUPPOSED TO GET AT THE DAY OF THE EVENT. I REGISTERED FOR THIS EVENT JUST BEFORE COVID SHUT THINGS DOWN BUT SHORTLY AFTER I GOT AN EMAIL SAYING THE EVENT WAS POSTPONED BECAUSE OF COVID. SINCE THEN, IVE EMAILED ASKING FOR MY MONEY BACK DUE TO THE FACT THAT THEY HAVE NEVER SCHEDULED ANOTHER DATE FOR THIS EVENT &I WAS TOLD THERE WAS NO REFUNDS ALLOWED &THEY OFFERED OTHER EVENTS THAT WASNT EVEN CLOSE TO ME THAT I DONT HAVE THE TIME OR MONEY TO GO TO! ITS BEEN 4 FREAKIN YEARS AND STILL NO RESOLUTION. I HAVE ALL THE EMAIL AND BANK PROOF OF MY PURCHASE &NOW THEY WONT EVEN RESPOND BACK TO MY EMAILS! THIS IS UNPROFESSIONAL AF! THIS IS NOT OKAY! I WANT MY FREAKIN MONEY BACK RIGHT NOW! IM TIRED OF DEALING WITH THEIR BS! AND IM CURRENTLY SEEKING LEGAL ACTION! THIS IS INSANE! JUST GIVE ME MY DAMN MONEY BACK SINCE YAWL CANT PROVIDE THE SERVICES I PAID FOR AND WAS PROMISED! I DIDNT AGREE TO PAY FOR THE THINGS I PAID FOR, JUST TO BE SCAMMED OR LIED TO. I WAS REALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO THE EVENT BUT THEY REFUSE TO MAKE THIS RIGHT WITH ME AND I REFUSE TO ALLOW THEM TO KEEP MY MONEY FOR SERVICES THEY NEVER PROVIDED. FXK COOL EVENTS &WHOEVER IS SCAMMING PEOPLE LIKE MYSELF! 0 STARS!

Worst experience ever
I would like a refund for the bubble run I signed up for.

I paid and then the event was cancelled. They offered to transfer to another event in my area but there isn’t one. And they’re still selling tickets to the cancelled event on Facebook! This is ridiculous. I don’t care if it’s not refundable- it’s illegal to take people’s money and not give them what they paid for. Very disappointed. I’d give zero stars if I could.

Detroit Bubble Run canceled
I signed up for the Bubble Run on 1/20/23 for the July 15 event. I got an email that the event is canceled and no future date is planned. I would have considered transferring my registration to another event in the same location but it appears that I will be charged additional fees for insurance, venue, and the photo package I paid for the canceled event. This is deceptive and I plan to contact our Detroit News station to do an investigation of this company after reading 139 complaints on this site and one was from a VRBO owner that had Ryan Winingham nearly destroy their home! This company needs to be shut down. My team of 5 expect a refund.

Re: Urgent: Blacklight Run Jacksonville, FL Postponed Indefinitely ***
Good afternoon,

I understand that situations have been difficult over the past year & 1/2 due to the pandemic. However, the event that I pre-paid/signed up for was originally supposed to take place over 2 years ago (August 31st, 2019). It was first postponed to May 2020 due to weather, & was then again canceled/postponed indefinitely due to the pandemic. That reschedule/2nd cancellation is now going on 16 months ago, & I've heard nothing more from the company since.

I've tried calling, but (when I was able to get through in the past) was only instructed to wait for the rescheduled event (& that the company issues absolutely no refunds under any circumstances). Now, you can't even get a person to answer the phone. You can only leave a message.

I've also e-mailed several times regarding being mailed the merchandise that I paid money for, but only receive the following generic response:
"Thanks for reaching out. Unfortunately we do not mail items to participants. All items will have to be picked up at packet pick up or on event day. I do apologize for this inconvenience!"

Furthermore, the website < www.coolevents.com > lists the contact info. as < [email protected] >, but that e-mail address gets returned as 'the email account that you tried to reach does not exist' ? They also have an invalid phone # listed under their 'Contact' page. {The number listed at the top of the website works, but no one will ever answer the phone, as I previously stated.}

I looked the company up under the Better Business Bureau (BBB), & see hundreds of unanswered complaints from other people like myself.

*** I pre-paid for more than just registrations to run in the event [for 5 people, btw] over 2 yrs. [27 mos.] ago. (It was to be my youngest daughter's very 1st event ever.) ***

*** I also paid over $100 for actual T-shirts & merchandise that I have yet to ever have received. My older daughter also did as well. And, the merchandise cannot be 'picked up at packet pick up or on event day' if they do not ever arrange to make either of these available. Not providing merchandise that is paid for & also refusing to issue any sort of refund is actually theft! And, I am only one of hundreds of people in my area (actually, thousands of people across the country) that this has been done this to! How can they possibly justify these actions? This is illegal ... plain & simple! ***

I have e-mailed the company to please advise on how they intend to provide the merchandise to us that we paid for well over 2 years ago (in June 2019). I am awaiting a response.

{ I get that there was a pandemic, & all. But refusing to provide merchandise or refunds for this long of a period of time is beyond ridiculous & completely unacceptable! Especially seeing that I also periodically receive e-mails regarding events that have resumed over the past year. }

[ Additionally, I went to the trouble of blanking out all of the personal information that I previously received in e-mails for everyone that signed up for the team that I created when I replied to/forwarded e-mails. The company should be more careful with their privacy practices, as I do not believe people would appreciate knowing that their personal information is floating around in e-mails to people that they do not even know. I know for a fact that I absolutely do not appreciate this breach of security with our personal information. Honestly, I think the company would be lucky if they do not get sued. FYI. ]

Respectfully,
Tina M. Aguayo

I signed up for their black light run in Richmond, Virginia on 1/20/2020 for the race on 6/6/2020. The race was marketed as "free" it is really $12 for "insurance" which I was fine with and went ahead and purchased along with the additional fee for "purchase protection" should I need my money back. Starting off with that "purchase protection".. you can only get your money back if its for a reason that THEY find valid and you have to have proof from a doctor, your employer, etc. as to why you cant go!! If I PAID FOR IT then I do not feel like I should have to prove myself for MY money back!! Now, today I check my credit statement and see a pending charge for $89.95 for a "membership" to ACTIVE. I did NOT sign up for this and am now out $100+ for this race that was marketed as FREE. I have left comments on their social media posts to forewarn people and have now been blocked from commenting on any of their pages. SCAM SCAM SCAM!!!

The advertisement says free I paid 28.00 for two people to join and now have a charge as of 2-16-2020 of $89.95. I would like the charges reversed. Not sure why I was charged and can't understand why the advertisement is free but in the long run im charged a total of $117.95.

Hi ***!

Thanks for contacting us about this. It sounds like you may have signed up for the Active Advantage program when you registered. The fee of 89.95 is not charged to you by CoolEvents but Active directly. Super easy to handle! Just reach out to their customer service department and request the funds be refunded and the program canceled. You can reach them at 1-877-228-4881.

Can't wait to see you on the course!

Ryan

I try and hit their different events whenever they come to San Diego bc all are fun for different reasons! Always good experiences that are well done. Helpful customer service too.

Thanks ***! We appreciate your kind words!

Fun and organized events. Would definitely attend another event planned by them.

Thanks ***! We look forward to seeing you again!

I’ve done a Bubble Run and a Terrain Race. My family and I loved both! Can’t beat the bang for your buck. Always nice (and kind of rare) to have a fun day out for less than an arm and a leg.

this is awesome!!!! We are so happy to hear that you enjoy our events and hope to see you at many more!

My family and have gone to a couple of events hosted by CoolEvents. We've done the blacklight one and then recently the terrain run. We've had a great time at each event. My kids LOVED the blacklight glow run. My wife and I are a bit older and we are not what you would consider active runers which made it perfect for us. We didn't feel pressured to get a good time and we actually walked a lot of it. Naturally, the kids favorite part was the after party. My daughter actually caught a glow necklace that was thrown from the stage and while I'm sure they aren't expensive, it really made her night. The terrain run was a bit more intimidating but considering it is basically the same cost of taking the family to the movies, it was great. We really had a good time helping each other (and even other runners) get through the obstacles. A couple of the obstacles were too difficult for any of us to complete but again, we're not exactly in the best shape. I think our favorite one was the cargo net in the mud. EVERYONE bands together to hold it up for people to get through which was a really great thing to see and sort of restored our faith in humanity. I really hope they come back next year because we're going to start being more active so we can do some of the harder obstacles next time. I don't know why but I HAVE to figure out the one where you go from rope to rope.

Great experience with their customer service! Very helpful team. Am looking forward to my next run.

So glad to hear it Carl!! We look forward to seeing you again as well!

Scam artists. Went to a mud run in Colorado (09/19) that was a complete joke. It took place in some random farmer's field and had thousands (and thousands?) of participants, and we spent most of the time waiting in line to complete poorly-constructed DIY "obstacles". When we were finished, couldn't even wash off because there was ONE GARDEN HOSE to share with the other thousands of racers.

I guess we were lucky to have gotten muddy, though... besides a couple pigsty-style mud pits, there was no mud to speak of; the one hill that was ostensibly meant to be slid down was bone dry and just plain dangerous.

The event was "free", but then upcharges and parking made it almost $100 to participate. Such a letdown and I'm surprised no one that I know of was seriously injured. The obstacles, organization, and provisions were so bad.

Ongoing false advertising- claiming “free” registration when there are “fees” to make up the difference, claiming the free period will end in a few days, but all that happens is the date displayed changes.

COMPLETE SCAM! Immediately run away from this company and their events. Should be shut down.

Scam... Do not sign up for any events from this company. They are shady and inept. They say registration is free and then charge insane prices for everything at the event. Which, whatever. The real problem is they cancel events with little to no notice, blame it one "unforeseen circumstances" or "things out of our control" which actually means they didn't bother to do things properly - like get permits and/permission for the local authority that governs these types of events. Probably because that would take professionalism and money. They are just a con and a money grab. Latest example is their Terrain Run in Kansas City that was supposed to happen 10/12/2019. Canceled or "Rescheduled" event less than 24 hours from the run due to "unforeseen circumstances" or "things out of our control". Come to find out they didn't pull any permits for the event or notify any authorities that the event was happening. They got shutdown when the authorities found out. Complete joke.

I was scammed out of hundreds of dollars from this company for an event in KC. They cancelled the day before at 3pm not even 24 hours notice. They refused to give us reason. When the press released the reason being no permit that meant they were ultimately responsible and should have to give a refund. They have given a refund to one group KC OCR. There is no reason beyond discrimination for them to refuse to give everyone their money back. They have since blocked me and my entire team on FB. They have deleted the race event. They have refused to communicate with us further. This making slot of is to file a class action lawsuit.

I would like to be in on the class action law suit. My team of 5 had the same experience in the Detroit area.

Same story as most of the other reviews. Registered myself and my 3 kids for the “free” terrain race, months ahead of the scheduled event. Paid almost $50 by the time I finished my “free” registration. The afternoon before the event I received this email:

“We’re very sorry to inform you that we have been forced to postpone this Saturday’s Terrain Race Kansas City at River View Farms. Due to unforeseen circumstances beyond our control we are unable to put on the event this Saturday and we will be communicating with you very shortly about the new date. Currently we are working with the venue and city officials on the new date. You can expect to hear from us by early next week.

In addition, today’s Packet Pickup has closed early.

We’re very sorry for the inconvenience and we look forward to bringing you a great event soon.“

I’m not going to hold my breath.

If I could give this company less than 1 star I would, I attended 3 5ks in Denver. All of them were unorganized and a complete mess/waste of money. They only offer 1 day that you can pickup your packets and if you are unable to then they charge you $10 to pick them up on race day. The amount they charge for parking in a field is absurd. The bubble machines broke at 4 of the bubble stations at the bubble run, the terrain race was so unorganized and missing equipment that you had to skip many obstacles, the staff was useless, there was one hose at the terrain run.. one hose.. for thousands of people.. at a mud run. The glow light run had the employees spraying you with basically water in 50 degree weather that didn't have any glow in it, the path was dark and on a dirt road with many people tripping and unable to see. Overall, waste of money, horrible staff, horrible set ups, a joke all around.

I would rather give this company 0 stars but you have leave a star.
I registered for a race that this company manages 9 months before the date. I didn't do any research as I was going on a word of a friend who had a team running and they all work with the local Sherriff's office. After they sent me the email that they had to change my date I asked for a refund which they replied with they do not give refunds as it is stated on their website.
If they had errors that occurred on their end "logistically" then I should be entitled to a refund. I'm not just dropping out of the race.
They are poorly organized if they can not properly book a venue and for a date and get it locked in before advertising such an event. And does anyone even know if the money ey they are collecting for charity is going to the charity? I'm very skeptical. I feel this company should not have a Revdex.com accreditation if they have so many complaints about their business. They clearly do not know how to run one.
