I signed up for the Blacklight run in Jacksonville, FL back in July 13, 2017. They promoted the events on facebook and it's stated that it will held the night event in downtown Jacksonville. so I paid for two discounted tickets for me and my daughter for $55.88. Two weeks from the due date they suddenly CHANGE the location of the run into jacksonville west side at Cecil Field equestrian center. the new location change was announced without reason. they just change it on their facebook event. We demanded refund because the new location is out in the woods far away from downtown area. they never replied the email personally; only auto reply to their email account; no phones answered; nobody seems to be in charge for the event. Even though they broke the contract by changing the event venue they refused to refund our money. Bad company. Can't find who's in charge of this company; and it seems it's right under ACTIVE.com company. which also never replied my email for refund. SO Disappointing.

Even though the "logistical issues" had nothing to do with any of those who purchased tickets, they will not only not tell you anything regarding the "issues" but won't give you a refund. My schedule had to be rearranged for the Chicagoland event twice, and they still won't give me a refund. It's not my problem. It's not the problem those who purchased tickets. It's theirs. Give people a refund when they request it. The more you deny refunds, the more it makes you appear to be a scam.

I purchased tickets to their event on 8/19/17. They cancelled the event and stated there would be another one. They cancelled all of the events in my area and now want me to go to Arizona for an event. I live the Washington D.C. area. I will not be traveling that far for the event.

Cool Events Response

To whom it may concern,

Unfortunately we are a no refunds event which is agreed upon at the time of registration, posted to our website and in the waiver. Dates and locations are also subject to change. You do have the option to transfer your registration to another event that we will be hosting in your area. Take a look at the events below and let us know if you would like to transfer to one of these events instead. We host many events throughout the year and do not expect participants to travel. If this event does not work and the new date does not work when it is announced, we are willing to assist in other ways. http://www.blacklightrun.com/washingtondc/

If you decide you would like to attend one of the above event, please let us know the first & last names of each participant that needs to be transferred. If you decide to stick with Blacklight Wars, you don't have to do a thing! We will send you additional info soon!

Thanks,

Ryan

Customer Response

They do not have any dates in 2017. On their website all of the dates have been postponed. I want my money back. I do not wish to have anymore dealings with this company.

Cool Events Response

To whom it may concern,

At this time we havre made an exception and issued a refund for *** registration. He will see the credit to his account shortly.

Thanks,

Ryan

This organization back in December promoted early registration to entice people to sign up at a cost of 35$ indicating doing so would save the end user as the price was going to climb to 50$ shortly. Not only did the price not drop as advertised, the price went down to 25$ and not increased as promised. Now this organization is again advertising to sign up now at 25$ before the price increases September 8th to 50$. I will be watching closely on that date to see if the change occurs. I have reached out to the organization directly to obtain an explanation as to why this has occurred and as of yet I have not received any reply. I fell I was mislead and duped by false advertising into signing up and now cannot get into contact with the organization to resolve the issue or receive a refund.

Cool Events Response

To whom it may concern,

Upon searching our archived emails, we have never received any email communication from Michael Seguin. Our events are not falsely advertised. We run different sales and promotions at different times and as the event gets closer the prices do increase and also go up to full price on event day. I apologize if our marketing was confusing in any way.

We do hope that you enjoy the event this weekend!

Ryan

On Jan. 1, 2017 I signed up for a "Bubble Run" that was supposed to take place on June 11, 2017 in Blaine, MN. I signed up my boyfriend, daughter, and myself for the run at $26. 44 per person. About 8-11 days prior to the run the company changed the date of the event and didn't send out e-mails to anybody until after they changed their date on their event page on Facebook. They changed the date to July 30, 2017. We had people coming in from out of town that could no longer attend and we had already made plans to be out of state for a family matter that weekend. After many conversations of getting denied a refund, people called the local news station and the company finally agreed to refund me of my money. I was told I would receive a refund for all three registrations. I finally ended up getting a refund for one of the registrations but not the other two. I e-mailed them and they reassured me that I would indeed be getting all three registrations refunded and to be patient as they had so many refunds to send. I waited for over a month before emailing again and never got a response. I have since written more emails and not received a response or a refund for that matter.

Cool Events Response

Hi ***,

I apologize but it looks as though they didn't see that you purchased the additional registrations. Can you please tell me the other participants first and last names so we can be sure to send over the refund request?

Thanks,

Ryan

Customer Response

[A default letter is provided here which indicates your acceptance of the business's response. If you wish, you may update it before sending it.]

Revdex.com:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me. I will wait until for the business to perform this action and, if it does, will consider this complaint resolved.

Regards

I signed up for the Minneapolis Bubble Run through Cool, Inc January 16, 2017 and it was slated for June. They changed the date to July. I could no longer make the date. They said they'd issue a refund and keep telling me it should be in my account. It's over a month and nothing has been issued from them.

Cool Events Response

Hi ***

I apologize for the delay. I will contact Active about your refund and be sure that it gets sent to you asap.

Thanks,

Ryan

I register myself and my two daughters for a Bubble Run with Cool Events. Cool Events changed the date and location of the Bubble Run because they did not obtain the proper permits. After much backlash, it was announced on the news that refunds would be issued to runners who could not make the new date. I requested a refund and attached my receipt to the email. I was told a refund would be forthcoming. I have submitted multiple emails since inquiring about the status of my refund. The response was always because of the heavy volume, it is taking extra time. Then the response changed to the refund was already issued. I checked my bank account multiple times and there was not refund so I again emailed and asked for the date and how it was issued as I did not have the refund. Just received a response, "The refund was issued. Check again." In my opinion, this is fraud.

Cool Events Response

Hi ***!

I apologize for the delay in your refunds. I have reached out to Active today to see where we stand with your refund and will be happy to let you know soon when you should expect it.

Have a great day!

Ryan

Race was advertised as a 5K with 3 miles course of being blasted with foam...race in fact was just under 2 miles and was zig zag through parking lot with foam falling from above at 3 points. Race was not safe as no trash recepticle provided after water stop leaving runners to run through zigzag parking lot filled with empty water bottles. This was not at all as described in the advertisements. We paid to complete a 5K and course was short of distance described all the advertising and information.

Cool Events Response

To whom it may concern,

We apologize for the course as the venue made last minute changes and our course was also altered by a participant without our knowledge. We are happy to provide you with complimentary registrations to a future event that we host. Please let me know if this will suffice as we really would like to provide you with a great experience!

Thanks,

Ryan

Customer Response

What was the course to be? Where or how was it altered?

Cool Events Response

To whom it may concern,

The course was altered by a participant who took it upon themselves to cut our race tape at certain sections on the course. Our Crew did their bets to address the situation when it was brought to their attention.

Ryan

I did the Foam Glow 5K in Des Moines, Iowa on August 12th, and it was not a 5K. I have a problem with race organizers charging $5 fees for "day of" check-ins as well. Not only was this not a 5K, but I felt it was dangerous from the get-go. The course zig-zagged through a parking lot full of signs, water grates and deep puddles. Many of the participants were cutting through the course as well. At the beginning of the race, the dj instructed runners on the left and walkers on the right. That is opposite of what the running etiquette is. In addition to the participants cutting the course almost causing collisions (it was dark out as well), many participants just threw their water bottles (some even still full) on the course. I feel like I should get my money back for this race since it was not a 5K, and it's in the title of the race as a 5K.

Cool Events Response

To whom it may concern,

Thank you for your feedback, we do realize there were some unfortunate issues at our Des Moines Foam Glow event. The $5 fee is posted on our website, in the Virtual Event Bag and also posted to your confirmation email. This fee can easily be avoided by picking up at the mandatory packet pickup the day before the event. Participants cutting the course or even altering the course is really unfortunate and we try our best to address those situations when they arise. The registrations for this event are non-refundable but we do want to provide you with a great experience. We would like to offer you a complimentary registration to a future event we host. Please let us know if this will suffice.

Thanks,

Ryan

Customer Response

I did not pay the $5 fee charged for same day packet pick-up. I just think that's bogus. However, the name of the event is Foam Glow 5K, and this was clearly not a 5K. It was below 2 miles whereas normal 5K's are a little over 3 miles. I feel like they put a lot of people's safety at risk with the way they set up the course. I think I'm entitled to getting a full refund since it was not a 5K, and so many safety hazards were not taken care of for the event. I refuse to participate in any other event ran by Cool Event LLC. I have attached a copy of the receipt for the payment. I do still have the shirt, so I feel I'm at least entitled to $25, if not $30.Thank you for your time.

Cool Events Response

To whom it may concern,

At this time we are willing to make an exception for this participant and refund the registration cost. Unfortunately, we can not refund the processing fee as that is charged by a third party registration company. You will see a credit to your account in the amount of $20 shortly.

Thanks,

Ryan

My family recently ran in the "Des Moines 5k Foam Glow Run" put on by Cool Events LLC. It is advertised in the title, as well as many pieces of literature, as a 5k but the actual "race" was less than 2/3 of that distance (3.04 km). Also, the course was nothing but running back and forth through a parking lot! It was the most poorly planned and executed run I have ever done! Lack of trash cans on the course led to dangerous conditions and the claim of a "course filled with foam" was a complete lie! I attempted to contact Cool Events via email but received no response.

Cool Events Response

To whom it may concern,

We apologize for your experience at our Foam Glow event in Des Moines. Our course was altered by a participant without our knowledge. Our response time in our inbox is 48 hours and I can assure you that you will be responded to as we answer them in the order they are received. While we are a no refunds event, we would like to make it up to you by providing you with complimentary tickets to a future event we host. Please let me know if this will suffice.

Thanks,

Ryan

I attended a fun run in Des Moines, IA on Saturday, August 12, 2017, along with my wife and three children. The event was described as a “Foam Glow 5K” – i.e., a five-kilometer fun run in which participants “run through different foam that glows in the dark”. This was followed by “an after-race party”. The event was organized by Cool Events LLC (headquarters in Phoenix, AZ), and cost us $25 per person to register plus another $10 for parking ($135 total). However, the course was only 1.9 miles long and most of that consisted of running back and forth in a zig-zag manner in a very crowded parking lot which, needless to say, was totally absurd.

The event was poorly organized and seemed like a “cash grab” by the organizers. The registration desk opened at 6.30pm and the race commenced at 8.30pm. We arrived at 6.25pm and lined up for 80 minutes waiting to receive our registration packets due to the insufficient number of people manning the registration desk. There was also an enormous bottleneck of people at the starting post. Consequently, we did not commence the run 9.15pm, which is 45 minutes after it had started – many participants finished before we even started. The glowing foam was nothing more than mostly knee-deep foam in three locations along the course. There was only one food truck at the event and an insufficient number of porta-potties.

I understand that everything described in my second paragraph may not be considered sufficient grounds for complaint; however, I feel I make a very valid point in my first paragraph – the event was described as a 5-km run but was only 3-km (1.9 miles). And most of it took place in a small parking lot! I think the distance issue either meets the criteria of false advertising. If you take a look at the “Foam Glow 5K -Des Moines” *** page, you will see that many other participants share my views.

Thank you for taking the time to deal with this issue. It is much appreciated.

Cool Events Response

To whom it may concern,

I sincerely apologize that you and your family did not have a great experience this weekend. I will provide this feedback to our Director from the event so he is aware as well. Unfortunately, the event is non-refundable but we would like to offer you 5 registrations to a future event. Please let me know if this will suffice.

Thanks,

Ryan

Customer Response

Dear Revdex.com - thank you for following up on my complaint. It is very much appreciated. The response made by the business is poor and therefore, I do not accept their offer. Instead, I would like a full refund. I do realize that it is very unlikely that the business will return my money but, out of principal, will not accept their offer to attend another event free of charge. Thank you once again for your help. My follow-up response to the business is shown below, regards Brad

Dear Cool Events LLC

Thank you for your reply but I do not accept your offer. My family and I do not want to attend another of your events free-of-charge because, based on your very poor rating on Revdex.com, I am not convinced that the next event will be organized any better. We would like to receive a full refund. I realize that you mentioned in your last correspondence that the 3 mile fun run is non-refundable. However, we did not attend a 3 mile run fun - the course was only 1.9 mile in length and therefore, your argument is null and void. The fact that half of the fun run involved running back and forth in a zigzag manner in a small, crowded parking lot is ridiculous. You know as well as I do that this was purely a "cash grab" on your part.

Brad

Cool Events Response

To whom it may concern,

We are within our policies and guidelines and will not be issuing a refund. It is unfortunate that you do not want to accept the free future registrations as we would have greatly enjoyed providing you with a better experience.

Take care,

Ryan

In regards to event - foam glow 5k des moines iowa.

Event organizers did not mention any parking fees for event so when I showed up to event there was a surprise 10$ parking fee. Also organizers advertised event as a 5k run, when in fact the run was only about 70% of a 5k or about 1.8 miles (3k). As a competitive runner whom traveled over an hour away was very disappointed that this happened.

Cool Events Response

To whom it may concern,

There were no hidden fees as to parking. It is posted to every cities location page that there is a $10 fee for parking. "There is a $10 fee (cash only) for parking. Please arrive early to avoid traffic." It is also posted in the Virtual Event Bag which provides all the event information to each registered participant. This is sent out via email three times leading up to event day. The course was indeed a complete 5K. Unfortunately, we will not be issuing a refund.

Thanks,

Ryan

Customer Response

Urge company to read 20+ complaints submitted by consumers to companies face book event for Des Moines iowa. Each complaint is in agreeance with race being between 1.85 and 1.9 miles. Company seems to be taking "the easy way out" and not doing research into complaint prior to issuing response.I understand the no refund policy but disagree with companies seemingly shady business practice and will make sure others are aware in the future.

Cool Events Response

Hi ***

We have read and diligently noted the complaints posted on our Facebook page. We always hold a post event meeting when our Team returns from an event where we compare notes and address issues. I would be happy to respond to you after that meeting is held tomorrow if you would like. Please shoot me an email to [email protected] if you would like a follow up.

Thanks,

Ryan

In January I registered both myself and my daughter for the Blaine Minnesota Bubble Run. The event organizers did not pull permits for the run in time to be reviewed by the city council, the event date was changed. I first contacted Bubble Run in May requesting my refunds since I was not able to attend the new event date. Initially, I was told that refunds would not be given despite the fact it was the event planners fault for the date change. Several email were exchange, pointing out a few of my friends received refunds. On July 14th I received an email stating I would receive a refund in 7 to 10 business days. It's been 19 days and I have yet to receive my refund. Furthermore, a local news station recently did a segment on the reason the event was moved. Adding that the *** made a condition for granting the new event date based on Runners receiving their refund if they could not attend the new date.

Cool Events Response

To whom it may concern,

The refunds have been issued for this participant. At this time we recommend checking with their bank.

Thanks,

Ryan

Customer Response

I checked my bank acct Friday the 11th, Saturday the 12th, and this evening. I still have not received my refunds. My complaint has not been resolved. When was the refund submitted and when I can expect the refund to be received?

Cool Events Response

Hi Sarah,

Please check again or maybe call your bank, your refunds have been issued.

Thanks,

Ryan

Cool Events LLC advertised For a Black Wars Water fight on August 19th in Washington DC. They sent out an email saying "it was postponed due to logistical issues, that were not in their control". How do you sell tickets when you did not have a secure location, but they advertised that it was at the raceway in DC. They even had a registration time and all that. Now they refuse to issue refunds, when they did not deliver on their promise.

Cool Events Response

To whom it may concern,

All participants were recently notified of our DC Blacklight Wars being postponed. The new date will be announced very soon and all participants will be transferred into that event date. If they can not attend, they have the option to transfer their registration to a new participant or different event we host. We are no refunds event which is agreed upon at the time of registration.

Thanks,

Ryan

I signed up with Cool Events in 1/6/17 for four registrations of $20 each thus $80 total for the Bubble Run on 6/11/17 in *** and was told on 5/24/17 that there was a date change to 7/30/17. My family and I could not make it to the new date change so I emailed them asking for a refund on 6/26/17. In the email, I attached four registrations along with my card number so I would get a refund faster and not have to deal with them. On 7/11/17, I received only one registration fee refund so I emailed them on 7/11/17 asking why I didn't receive a refund for the other three registration. They replied back on the same day stating "If your registrations weren't linked under the same order, then that could be the reason. If you are the purchaser for the other registrations, send over their full names and emails and I will look into putting those for you." So I emailed them again later that night with the requested information. I didn't receive an email back so I emailed them again on 7/14/17. They replied on 7/14/17 stating "If you refund has not already appeared, you should see the credit by end of day today." On 7/17/17, there were still no refunds on my credit card and that was the last reply I've received from them. I've emailed them again on 7/18/17, 7/21/17, 7/26/17, and the last email was on 7/31/17. I still haven't gotten a response or refunds for my three registrations thus contact Revdex.com in order to get some relief.

Cool Events Response

To whom it may concern,

*** has been issued a refund for all registrations that she purchased. At this time, we advise that she checks with her banking institution.

Thanks,

Ryan

Customer Response

I only received one refund on 7/7/17 when I signed up for four registrations. Attached are the registrations that I paid for.

Cool Events Response

To whom it may concern,

The refunds were issued in groups by ***. I do see that your were issued however it may be taking a bit of time to appear in your account. Please check with your banking institution again to see if they have applied the funds to your account.

Thanks,

Ryan

My boyfriend and I signed up for and paid for a Blacklight 5k run, as advertised on Active.com (a business that the Blacklight company uses to advertise for events). The event was misadvertised, and was a Blacklight Slide event, not a run. When we showed up, none of the workers were able to tell us that there was not a run. Nobody seemed to have any idea what was going on. I have left three voicemails for the company and not received a call back. I have sent several emails, receiving the response that Active.com is run by humans and they must have made a mistake, but that there are no refunds. I stated we only wanted a refund becaseu we did not participate in the event, and have proof that we signed up for a RACE, not a SLIDE event. The event we paid for DID NOT EXIST, but the company refuses to remind us. This is not something we can take up with Active.com because, regardless of whether is was Active's or Cool Event's mistake, Cool Events has our money, not Active. We each paid $20, plus $5 on the day of with we picked up our packets (the person collecting money told us to ask someone else about the race starting point). We both require reminds of $25 each, becaseu the event we signed up for was not a real event the company was running.

Cool Events Response

To whom it may concern,

We communicated with this participant about the event and did explain to her that she saw this listed as a run on Active.com. There may have been some confusion between our events as we do also host a Blacklight Run which is a 5K and may have been confused with our Blacklight Slide which is a water event. They purchased two registrations and checked in to the event. Unfortunately, we are not going to issue a refund for an event that they did indeed attend.

Ryan

Customer Response

As stated before, we checked into the event because the worker at check in did not tell us, when asked, that there was not a race. Additionally, I agree that there was confusion between the two events. But, as the customer, I do not take responsibility for the false advertising that caused the confusion. I responded to an advertisement for a run. There was no run. I need a refund. I don't care if you need to contact Active about the advertisement or who provides the refund (although it would make sense for Blacklight to, since you have our money, not Active).

Cool Events Response

To whom it may concern,

As previously stated, we will not be issuing a refund due to confusion. At this time what I can do is offer to provide a credit to a future running event that we host. Please let me know if this will suffice.

Thanks,

Ryan

The bubble run decided to change the date for the run without offering refunds! I can not attend due to my wedding! I need a refund!

Cool Events Response

To whom it may concern,

I have issued a request for a refund for order # ***, you should see the credit to your account shortly.

Thanks,

Ryan

Cool Events, LLC advertised The Bubble Run in Minneapolis, MN on June 11th. On short notice, about two weeks prior to that date, they changed it to July 30th.

I've tried getting in contact with them about getting issued a refund, and have been hearing from others report that their response is that they have a 'No Refund' policy. I feel that this is defrauding their customers on false advertising.

Cool Events Response

To whom it may concern,

We have requested that Active.com refund your registration. You should see the credit to your account shortly.

Thanks,

Ryan

On March 19, We paid for 3 tickets to a Bubble Run in Minnesota which was to be held on June 11. On May 25, we were contacted saying that it was rescheduled for 7/30. I contacted this company immediately and requested a refund, as we are unavailable on July 30. They rescheduled the event as they did not pull the permits/licenses in order to have the run on the initial date.

I have contacted this company 4 times, and they will not respond to me with the refund. They stated it was not due to their issue, which was a lie. I have been in contact with other people who signed up for this event, and have had the same issues with this company. I know they are refunding money.

Cool Events Response

To whom it may concern,

We have requested to Active.com to refund your registrations. You should see the credit in the next 3-5 business days.

Thanks,

Ryan

We had a great time at the Blacklight Run in Tulsa. Were there areas that could be improved upon? Yes there was! The fun outweighed the short comings! We well definitely be doing the Foam Glow in December!

Things that could be improved:
Parking
Venue
(Make sure the venue is not booked for another event that night. Traffic leaving was bad because others were entering to get to the next event)

My only other suggestion would be to have a photography tent. Where you can get your before and after photos done like other 5ks I have been to.

Cheers!
