Cool Events Reviews (%countItem)

Good evening,
I would like to request a refund for two tickets that I purchased for Blacklight Slide's event, which was scheduled to occue on June 30th. This event took place at Sun N' Fun, located at ***. We arrived to the site around 7pm.

The reason that I am asking for this refund was because even after I had pre-purchased two event tickets via ***, we were told by a police officer of the Polk County Sheriff's Department that the event had shut down. We were told this after waiting for almost 45 minutes just to park our cars. The officer instructed all incoming vehicles to leave the premises. Because of this inconvenience, we were unable to attend the event-and hence-wasted our time and money on an event which was shut down. Unfortunately, I do not know the name of the officer who went to our window to tell this announcement to us, and why the event was shut down. ue to the overwhelming crowd of people, I am guessing it was because of over-capacity.

I am very upset because we not only drive over 30 miles to attend this event, but even after paying, we were unable to go due to this factor that was completely out of our control.

Because I had purchased the tickets directly through *** and not through the company (***), I would like to request a refund. I have been a very loyal customer to *** for years, and have never had a bad experience from using this site, until now. I would like to continue staying as a customer

This was the link where I ordered two tickets. Please let me know what I must do in order to proceed.

To whom it may concern,

Thank you for reaching out. We do apologize for the inconvenience that you incurred. Unfortunately, the information you were given was not accurate. The event was not at capacity and was not shut down. Since you purchased your registrations through ***, you will need to contact them to have them refunded. We do not see in our system that you registered your ***s nor do we have any way to refund them when purchased through their webpage or App. Please let us know that they are able to assist you in the refund process.

Take care,

Ryan

Signed up for the Inland Empire event that was scheduled for July 7, 2018. On June 28, they sent an email notifying registered racers that the July 7th event was rescheduled for September 1 (Labor Day Weekend). A refund was requested multiple times and the request was denied. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY...THEY'RE A SCAM!!!!

A couple of months ago I signed my sister and I up for their terrain racing in San Bernardino for this upcoming weekend. First of all there is hidden fees and insurance that you have to purchase which almost made me not buy our tickets. But because this has always been on my bucket list so I went ahead anyways. Fast forward a couple months, eight days before the race they decide to postpone the event due to "circumstances out of their control" until September 1st. Luckily I live very close and I am able to do it but there are several people upset over it. They are not offering refunds to anyone. You have to do the event on the new date or change your location which doesn't work for a lot of people. Upon further research I am finding this is happening to a lot of events they throw and it's not right at all.

I first purchased the Blacklight Wars a year ago to be held in Geneva,IL in July 2017. It was then postponed until October 2017, and when that date rolled around it was postponed indefinitely. While I was told I had to make sure I could make the event in July as there were no refunds if I couldn't come then, when I couldn't make the new date they changed it to they would not refund me my money back.

In April of this year 2018 I received an email saying my event was rescheduled, but I looked on the website and for further emails in April and May, with no dates showing as being set. I finally got an email the week before the event ( now we are in June) to say when the actual date was rescheduled, however I was out of the country and couldn't see it. I also received 2 different emails within 4 days of the "rescheduled event" each with a drastically different location over an hour apart from each other, one stated it would be at the Speedway in Joliet and the other stated it would be in St. Charles.

I will NEVER purchase another event from this company. In my eyes with their legal butt coverings and the continual changes, it is pretty much a scam to get your money and then do as much as possible to insure you cannot or do not make it to the event while they keep your money.

As for I can always schedule for any of their other events, none of them are usually in the same state, and I would not trust making the plans and arrangements to travel to another location knowing it would probably just be cancelled or "rescheduled" again.

On 6/16/18, my husband&I attended Terrain Race at ***.Advertised as 5k,was 4.6 miles according to participants' trackers.Promised water stations every 1-2 miles (in other reports 1/2 mile)but water stations ran out of water in 95 degree heat.A worker actually complained to us that people were"chugging too much water"After speaking with the venue I found out they(the venue)had extra water&offered it to the company but they refused saying it wasnt needed.Website states:"medical teams and course personnel roaming the course at all times in addition to the medical tent at the finish line.If you do get hurt, and are around an obstacle, there will be a volunteer or a medic there that has direct communication with the event directors and we can send one of our course medical teams to your location"Not only is this false advertisement as several of the dangerous obstacles were unmanned-we stood at the medical tent and listened as they spoke over a radio w/workers on the course who told them there were still people on the course but they "looked ok" so the medical team packed up and left.others complained they waited over 30 mins on the course after calling for a medic to no avail. The website states:"There will also be a slick after party with additional food and beverages for purchase as well as our great announcer and music! [Also] we’ll have a store" There was none of that at 2PM with people still on the course. The showers were turned off by 1PM so we couldnt wash off which was disappointing since the"mud pits"were ankle deep, hot mud that smelled like manure w/tadpoles seemingly left over from an event by a better company 2 months prior.I was not going to file a Revdex.com complaint until the company decided to DELETE mine and 5-10 others' complaints on Facebook proving that this shady company is trying to cover their tracks and prevent others from finding out beforehand how unorganized and careless these events are, basically a scam

Hi ***,

Thanks for your feedback and my apologies that you did not have the best experience at our Terrain Race. Your message will be shared not only with our owner but also with our Race Directors that are out on the ground. Participant feedback is very important to us and we take it seriously.

I am happy to refund your fees however I will need some additional information from you. I can't seem to find your registration information in Active's system. Please let me know both of your first and last names you registered under along with the email addresses and dates of birth.

Thanks for taking your time to do this.

Talk soon,

Ryan

My friend and I were looking to do a 5k in our area, and we stumbled upon the BlackLight Slide event. The BlackLight Slide is currently being advertised as a 5k on a race website, which is why we bought the tickets. After discovering the event is not a 5k, I immediately emailed the company. I was aware of the fact that the company does not offer refunds, as it was stated on the registration, and the initial generated email they sent me stated this fact as well. I spoke to a man named Ryan W, and told him even though I understand the company does not offer a refund, the event is being falsely advertised as a 5k. To which his emails stopped. I waited a couple of days and emailed them again, and a different team memeber, Daria G emailed me. She offered to switch my ticket to either the foam flow, BlackLight run, BlackLight Slide (which is what I’m trying to switch out of), and the Terrain Race. The other two are not in my area, and since I’m trying to switch out of the BlackLight Slide, I chose the terrain race. She tells me I have to pay a $10 insurance fee, which will come out to $40, which I remind her since I already paid about $34 I should only owe a little over $6. She then tells me I actually owe $50, due to event fees and registration. I tell her there’s no way I should have to pay extra for venue fees and registrations, beings that I already paid for them the first time. She stops emailing me. A week goes by and I hear nothing. I send two emails and finally get a response from yet another team member, Pam L, now telling me that I can no longer switch to the Terrain Race. I have sent two emails and have not heard anything back.

Hi ***,

My apologies if there was a misunderstanding. Many different types of events, not just 5k's, are sold through Active.com's registration platform. That being said, we have issued a refund for your registration and you will see the credit appear in your account in the next 5-7 business days.

Take care,

Ryan

I signed up form glow light wars for June of last year in Geneva, the company repeatly rescheduled the event. I asked them on multiple occasions for a refund over the last year and they have refused. They just emailed they would be holding it after all this Saturday which is an insanly short notification. Apperntly they are tacking it onto another event they were already doing.

To whom it may concern,

Our Blacklight Wars event was combined with our Blacklight Run to provide all registrants with a double event that was super fun! We are sorry that you missed it. While we do not normally issue refunds, we have made an exception and issued the credit to the account you purchased with. You will see it in the next 5-7 business days.

Take care,

Ryan

I registered my family and myself for the Houston Bubble Run scheduled for May 26, 2018. I registered many weeks in advance AND paid extra for the race merchandise and other fun merchandise for my daughter, to be delivered to my home....it never was (added delivery fee OF COURSE). Due to an illness, we were not able to attend and contacted the company, simply wanting what was owed, bought and paid for, delivered to my house, as originally promised. I was told no, the items were not deliverable. I also noticed on my credit card, 2 charges that I did not authorize on May 26th for $79.95 each. I heard of people having issues with this event, but just brushed it off, thinking it would just be a fun event...it has proven to be more of a headache than it was worth, whether we attended the event or not. The merchandise was brushed off by one individual and the credit card charges are still being looked into. As I sit here and type this, I received an email showing that we checked into the race....I have proof of no such thing due to the fact I was 40 miles away during that time!!!!!

July 2017, I purchased tickets to participate in Blacklight Wars - Fort Worth, TX that was scheduled for September 30, 2017. On September 11, 2017, I received the following message in an email.

Hey Glow Warriors!

We are postponing our Fort Worth Blacklight Wars originally scheduled for September 30, 2017 due to logistical issues beyond our control. Your registration(s) will automatically be transferred to the new date soon to be announced. You don't have to do a thing!

*Please note, registrations are not refundable.

More information will be sent soon!
-Blacklight Wars Crew

I thought it was no big deal and figured they would reschedule within a couple of months. Well I didn't hear from the organization again until 7 months later and received the following email.

Hey Glow Warriors!

We are so excited to tell you that your Blacklight Wars event has been rescheduled and will have an added bonus just for you! Two events in one! You don't need to do a thing and you will be receiving your new confirmation email shortly.

Here's the details:
Blacklight Wars Ft. Worth
May 12, 2018

***
If you would like more information, shoot us an email at *** and we will be happy to help.

Again, thanks for your patience and we can't wait to see you glow!

-Blacklight Wars Crew

I couldn't believe it took them 7 months to reschedule and disappointed there was no communication in between those time periods. May 12th is Mother's Day Weekend and I already have set plans that I scheduled in February 2018.

I've contacted the company and requested a refund because my position is that they chose to cancel the original date. I had no control over that. I have not received a response from them which is horrible customer service. I feel this organization is a scam.

Cool Events Response • May 14, 2018

Hi ***,

Thank you for reaching out and we apologize for any frustration we have caused. We never want to postpone an event and when it happened we did hope to secure a new date right away however, we had to find an available date that the venue could provide us. Unfortunately, that took longer than we had hoped. We decided to combine the Blacklight Wars with the Blacklight Run as a thank you for your patience and to provide all of our participants with some added fun!

At this time, we have issued a full refund for your registration cost. We do hope to see you at a future event!

Take care,

Ryan W

I attended this race and after being sprayed with foam my friend tells me that my hair is pink. I had just had highlights put in for my friends up coming wedding. It's in 1 week. I asked the staff if it stained. They said no it shouldn't. It stains. It stained my short my shoes my nails and my hair. I'm struggling to get it out of my nails but I can't seem to get it out of my hair. Now it looks like I have to pay 150 to 250 to have my hair professionally fixed as I can't show up to a wedding with my pink in my hair. Since April 21st, in austin tx, which is where the foam glow race was held, I've washed my hair 8 times trying to get this red pink crap out of my hair.

Hi ***,

Thanks for reaching out. Unfortunately, we will not be issuing a refund for your registrations to the event as you did sign a waiver to participate in the event. It is attached below for your review. Please let me know if I can assist in any other way.

Take care

I paid 6 months in advance for my family of 5 to participate in the Black Light event in San Bernardino, CA that was scheduled for September 30, 2017. I received an email that the event was postponed but never received anything after that. I emailed them asking for a new date for the event or a prompt refund. I have not received a response. I understand they have a No Refund policy. Now I know why, because they plan to take people for their money. They failed to provide a service for which they collected money.

Cool Events Response • Apr 30, 2018

Hi ***,

Thanks for reaching out! I apologize that you have not yet received any information on your postponed event, we are hoping to get that information out to all registered participants soon. In the meantime, we have issued a refund for the five registrations that you purchased, you will see the credit to your account in the next 5-7 business days.

We hope to see and the family at a future event!

I wanted to relay my experience. I registered for Blacklight Wars - Geneva which was scheduled for July 8, 2017. It was then postponed until Oct. 14th and then again until a potential date of Jan. 1, 2018. I am not sure this event ever occurred. Their standard reason for cancelling is "due to logistical issues beyond our control.", whatever that means. I contacted the venue and they indicated that Cool Events had the date "held" but never booked or signed a contract. Participants' money should not be held hostage because of poor planning on the part of Cool Events. I found 9 other Blacklight events that had been postponed over the last 2 years. I was able to get a refund because I filed a complained with the Arizona Attorney General. Cool Events is based out of Phoenix.

Cool Events Response • Feb 12, 2018

Good afternoon,
As stated on our website and in the waiver that you agreed to at the time of registration. All registrations are not refundable and dates and locations are subject to change. We offered the option of transferring the registration to another event that we host before launching the new date. We made the exception on 10/18/17 and refunded the registrations you purchased.

Customer Response • Feb 12, 2018

I understand that you refunded my money but only because I contacted the AZ ***. I also understand that you "do not issue refunds". From a legal standpoint, you have yourself covered. From an ethical standpoint, you take money from participants and postpone the event or never hold the event requiring participants to attend a completely different event which may be in a different state or lose their money. Apparently, the numerous complaints on Revdex.com and elsewhere does not change your business practices. Buyer beware for all Blacklight events!!

On 7/31/17, I purchased a ticket for the Glow Wars event that was scheduled on September 9, 2017. My transaction posted to my bank 8/1/17, then on 8/6/17 I received an email the event was postponed and we would be notified of another date. It is now 1/8/18. A new year and the event has not been rescheduled. I emailed in December requesting a refund and told them what they had done is pure evil to take funds and not refund and never reschedule an event- likely in hope people would forget about it. I have filed a dispute, for the full amount to be returned, with my bank. I gave them opportunity to do it December and they still didn’t.

On May 31, 2017, I purchased one ticket for the Blacklight Slide event scheduled for September 30, 2017 in San Bernardino, Ca. I paid $32.38. On September 21, 2017, I received an email stating that the event was being postponed. On September 21, 2017, I sent an email to Booking Protect to request a refund as I had paid the additional $2.99 for booking protection. After several emails, I was told that they would not be able to grant me a refund because the postponement of the event did not meet their refund criteria. On October 10, 2017, I sent an email to the Blacklight Slide Crew requesting a refund. I received an email that stated, "We apologize that the new date is not convenient for you and we'd like to offer you a couple different options...". However, as of today, I still have not been notified of a new event date. The last email received from a Blacklight Slide crew member, Pam L, was on October 11, 2017. The email stated, "We will be announcing the new date soon!!!". It has been over three months since the cancellation of the event and I have not received a refund or a service for which I paid.

Cool Events Response • Jan 03, 2018

To whom it may concern,

The new event for San Bernardino will be announced very soon. If you purchased the Booking Protect plan, you will need to contact bookingprotect.com and fill out a claim form requesting a refund. Please let us know if you need assistance from there.

Customer Response • Jan 03, 2018

The response received by Ryan, a member of the Cool Events organization, is the same response I received three months ago. It is clear that this organization does not know when they will be holding this event in San Bernardino, yet they keep telling paying customers they will be announcing the new date very soon. As previously mentioned, I tried to collect a refund through Booking Protect but I was told that they could not refund me because the postponement of the event made by the organization did not meet their refund criteria. Thus, I am requesting a refund for the one ticket I purchased from Cool Events, the organization who sold me the ticket.

Cool Events Response • Jan 04, 2018

Hi ***,

Upon further review, I will process the refund for your registration. That being said, I can not refund the $2.99 as we only sell the registration, all other fees are charged by Active.com. You will see the credit to your account in the next 7-10 b business days.

Ryan

I registered for the Bubble Run in my hometown, the event has reset a date. I emailed for a refund I got emails in return asking for my conformation email, and never once received a refund or an email stating I had received one. I have emailed back two to three times asking if I had received my refund, and I have gotten no email back. I am very disappointed with this and would like a full refund.

Cool Events Response

To whom it may concern,

Our Bubble Run Nashville was rescheduled to a later date and all participants were notified. As our policy states, dates and locations are subject to change and we are a no refunds event. At this time, we are willing to make *** exception and refund the registration. You will see the credit to your account in the next 3-5 business days.

Thanks,

Ryan

On 9/4, I purchased two tickets to attend the Black Light Run that was to take place on 12/9 in the city of Anaheim. On 10/4, I received notification from Cool Events LLC/Blacklight Run Crew that the event has been postponed and the new date is to be determined. Since they have canceled the event that I’ve paid for, I reached out to them and requested a refund. This company has refused to refund my money even though they have cancelled the event that I’ve paid for.

I have been in contact with this business for months now. To sum it up, I was told if I send my information to Ryan, I would get my 40.00 back. I sent my information in on the 16th of October and I still have not heard from him. I have been going back and forth with this business and have made several complaints on the Revdex.com. As promised, I want my money back.

I signed up and paid for an event that has now been rescheduled. I have tried multiple times to contact the company with no answers. I am unable to attend the rescheduled race and want my money back. I now see the business has done this before.

I signed up for the Nashville Bubble run for October 21st in back September. Two weeks later I receive an email that the bubble run for that date was postponed but no future date announced. So I contacted them three times asking for a refund because there was no new date. The only response was basically that there was no refunds. Which is funny because the website says to triple check to make sure you can attend that date because there wouldn't be a refund if you back out on the day you sign up but nothing on the website that says if the company decides to not go through with the event on that day there would be no refunds. Now it's basically the customers fault if they can't attend the new date even though they never agreed to a date that's supposably next summer. Customer service absolutely sucks, if it's a problem they don't want to deal with, good luck on even getting anyone to reply back. I paid extra to get my race packet with a shirt mailed to me and I didn't even get that much. This is hands down the worst company I've ever had to deal with. I just want my money back.

Cool Events Response

To whom it may concern,

Our Nashville Bubble Run has been postponed to May 19, 2018. All participants were notified of the date change and also offered a variety of options if they could not attend the new date. The reason this participant did not yet receive her race packet is because packets are shipped three weeks prior to the event date and are now scheduled to go out to those who are registered at a later time. At this time, I will make an exception and refund the registration in full, you will see the credit to yuor account in the next 3-5 business days.

Thanks,

Ryan

I bought two tickets totaling $81.00 to an advertised event, bubble Run Memphis for Nov. 3,2017. Received an email from the company stating the Run would be postponed until May 2018. I would not have purchased the tickets for that date. I emailed the company for a refund. They emailed me back claiming to contact someone else. Apparently after doing research on this company. Their practice is to advertise the event only to postpone until another date and refuse refunds.
