July 15, Revdex.com Serving Eastern Missouri & Southern Illinois StLouis, MO Complaint ID #: [redacted] – [redacted] J [redacted] Dear Complaint Resolution Department: We are in receipt of your letter of July 12, 2016, forwarding us a copy of the complaint filed with your office by Ms [redacted] J***Upon receipt of your correspondence we conducted our internal investigation into the concerns set forth by Ms [redacted] in her complaint, and would like to address those concernsFirst and foremost, I want to address any confusion on Ms***’s behalf that we have purchased her accountPlease be advised that Credit Control, LLC has not purchased this accountAs stated in our letter to Ms [redacted] this account is owned by her current creditor [redacted] ***, who placed this account with our office for collectionNext, Ms [redacted] states that due to the age of the account, she is no longer responsible for the balance, making our collection efforts illegalWhile there is in fact a statute of limitations which dictates that after a given length of time no lawsuit can be filed, that does not in any way limit or inhibit the right of a creditor or a debt collector to attempt to collect the debtThis also applies to Ms***’s statement that this is no longer on her credit reportThe Fair Credit Reporting Act provides that an account must be removed from a credit report once the statute of limitations for credit reporting has passed, but that has no impact on a creditor or debt collector’s right to attempt to collect the debtIn fact, this was explained to Ms [redacted] in the letter we sent to her as follows - "The law limits how long you can be sued on a debtBecause of the age of your debt, [redacted] will not sue you for it, and [redacted] will not report it to any credit reporting agency"As Ms***’s complaint stated that she wishes no further contact from Credit Control, LLC, we have ceased communication on this account and are in process of returning it to our clientMs [redacted] will receive no further communication from Credit Control, LLCSincerely, [redacted] Director of Compliance [redacted]

We are in receipt of this complaint, forwarded to us via the Revdex.com portal on May 4, Upon receipt of this complaint we initiated our investigation into the concerns raised by the consumer. In reviewing the file, we find that we did indeed enter into an agreement to settle the account with the consumer in payments, as the consumer outlined The first payment was processed and applied towards the agreed settlement, as stated by the consumer When it was time to process the 2nd payment however, that payment was declined When our representative contacted the consumer to advise that the payment was declined, the consumer advised our representative that he decided that he will not pay this account, as he found out that settling the account would not completely remove it from his credit report In addition the consumer requested a refund of the processed paymentIn an effort to show good faith, we will refund the consumer's payment of $ The paperwork to refund the consumer's payment has been submitted and is being processed

I received a letter for a debt I do not owe. I have already spoken with [redacted] ***, and they confirmed I owe no outstanding debt, and even tried to find one based on my SSN. There was another company who also tried to run this scam. I am up to date with payments on my card. I told this company to not send me any more fraudulent letters trying to collect money for a debt that isn't owed. To try and collect money that isn't owed is outrageous.
