Response:

Dear [redacted]:Upon review, our records indicate that two

COLUMBIA HOUSE DVD CLUB membership accounts were established in [redacted]’s

name on May 9, 2006. The purchase commitment associated with each membership

was to buy 5 DVDs at regular Club price within 1 year of enrollment. When the purchase commitments were not

fulfilled within the specified time period, we added a charge of $124.70 to

each account. This amount represents the

cost of the 5 DVDs remaining in the purchase commitment, plus shipping and

processing charges. When the balances remained unpaid we

placed the accounts in collections with our agencies, [redacted]

([redacted]) and [redacted] ([redacted]).We have

contacted [redacted] and [redacted] and instructed that they close their files and

cease collection efforts. [redacted] and West

Bay assure us that they have closed the files and taken steps to remove any

adverse information from [redacted]’s credit report. We have closed both DVD Club accounts

with zero balances. [redacted] may disregard any Club communications she may

receive. We

trust this resolves [redacted]’s concerns. You

may contact me at ###-###-#### with any questions. You may also send

Review: Columbia House sent a cancelled closed account to a collection agency and reported it on my credit report over a year later.

In 2010 Columbia House sent me a bill in the mail about some charge for a dvd club. I immediately contacted Columbia House and was assured that the account would be closed/cancelled and that I would not be help liable and that if any merchandise came in the mail to simply return it. Fine so a few years pass and I pull a credit report b/c I am in the process of buying a home and I see a collections entry from a company called Trident representing Columbia House Account#[redacted] for $55.00. Clearly this is an error clearly this account was closed almost 3 years ago clearly they would not do something like this b/c clearly this is bad business. This has got to be illegal or a scam something needs to be done to keep this from happening to others. You can go online and there are sooooooo many complaints against this company clearly everyone cannot be lying on them.Desired Settlement: I want them to fix their business practices send closed account letters to consumers so we have a records for ourselves to when proble** like this occur we have written documentation. I was refused this right and can not believe a company would sink to such depths.

Review: Columbia House erroneously charged me $25.94 on 9/17. They have promised store credit, but are not honoring that promise.

Columbia House erroneously charged me $25.94 on 9/17/13. I didn't order anything, they just randomly charged my card for no reason. I obviously wanted a refund, but they keep saying they will give me store credit. This is fine, except they're not giving me store credit either. Their responses are generic, and sometimes don't even address the correct issue. I have emailed them 6 times. The first time [redacted] responded, saying store credit would be issued. It never was. The second time was [redacted], saying the same thing. Again, nothing happened. The third time was [redacted], and nothing happened. The fourth time was from [redacted], this time saying my card would be refunded. It never was. The fifth time was [redacted], now saying that my credit was processing. The sixth time was [redacted], talking about Bonus Points, a completely unrelated and irrelevant issue. The last time I emailed them, telling them I was going to file a complaint with the Revdex.com, they didn't respond. I know it does not take a month to process a refund or a credit, and I think they just want me to go away, with no plans to refund me. My account number is [redacted]. Thank you. Please contact me if you need additional details.Desired Settlement: I never even ordered anything, they just randomly charged me $25.94 for no reason. So I would prefer a refund as opposed to store credit, because I want to cancel my account with this organization.

Review: I have already filed a complaint against this company regarding an account they claim I have with Double Day Book Club. In addition to that complaint, I am adding both Black Expression and Columbia house to my complaint. This company has placed accounts with three different collection agencies. I have not had an account with them in years.

I had an account with this company over five years ago. I have not received any mail or materials from this company, and now five years later, there is a collection on my credit report for $85. I want this company to remove my name from their database and also have there report removed from all three of my credit reports.

Desired Settlement: I would like for this company to remove me from their data base. Retract any debt with collection agencies, and have these debts removed from all three of my credit report. This is a falsified account, and I do not owe this company for these charges. I want my credit cleared and no further contact from this company.

Review: Columbia House DVD Club has been sending me threatening letter indicating I have a balance of $14 that is past due. They have put my account in a delinquent state and has charged me several late fees. Columbia DVD Club business practices is very poor and they are so unprofessional. The threaten letter rudely states, We have sent you several letters and have given you ample opportunity to respond, but to date we have not received payment for your past due balance. The letter went on to say as your payment was not received we have reported the delinquency of your account to [redacted], a consumer reporting agency. Columbia House service has been nothing less than poor. As a club member, I tried to make a purchase and the declined to process my order so I cancel my account. Columbia DVD is the complete worst. My account number is [redacted] Product_Or_Service: COLUMBIA HOUSE DVD

Please have Columbia House DVD Club to stop sending me harassing letters. The company is very rude and unprofessional.

Review: Movies purchased and Paid in 12/2013 still not delivered

On 12/06/2013 I placed two orders with Columbia House DVD Club and paid for those purchases immediately at the time of the order. Yet, almost three months later, Columbia House has failed to delivery the items I ordered and pre-paid in December 2013. I have contacted customer support several times by email and by phone and every time I have received the run-around... I am very frustrated with Columbia House, their service department and most of all their order department which has left me waiting almost ninety (90) days for my order to be filled. I would like to have a complete refund of my purchases in the amounts of $23.97 and $15.94. I want to have my account cancelled immediately and I would like to have my name and information removed from Columbia House DVD Club's records.Desired Settlement: I would like to have a complete refund of my purchases in the amounts of $23.97 and $15.94. THEY INSIST I DID BUT CANNOT PROVIDE ME ANY INFORMATION ABOUT THE ORDER. THEY AND THE COLLECTION COMPANY ARE BOUNCING PEOPLE BACK AND FORTH SAYING THAT EITHER CANT HELP WITH DISPUTING THE CHARGES. THERE ARE MANY PEOPLE EXPERIENCING THE SAME THING WITH THESE CHARGES. ITS ALMOST A LOOSE SITUATION FOR THE CUSTOMER. EITHER I PAY A BILL I DONT OWE OR THEY DAMAGE MY CREDIT. Review: No proof of enrollment into club in 2004 and was never sent statements of monies owed.

On credit report run in Dec 2012 a charge for $67 was posted by Columbia House with a notation stating it had already been disputed in past. Charge is from 2004 when I was in the military in [redacted]. Have been getting the run around since and no proof has been given to be regarding enrollment and billing statement. [redacted] has since taken over collections but still have not received one letter from either [redacted] or Columbia House regarding balances. When talked to customer service regarding proof of enrollment such as a signed agreement was told "we dont have you sign anything upon enrollment." No actual answers or solutions have been established and I want it fixedDesired Settlement: I want this balance at zero without me having to pay unless I get paper documentation of what I owe and what I purchased. If I did buy it I'll be glad to pay it; if not I want it taken off my credit report ASAP

Review: Columbia House DVD Club shipped DVD's that I did order.

Account# [redacted]

Several years ago, I used to belong to Columbia House DVD Club. I cancelled my membership at lead 5 years ago. In the last several months I started to receive DVD's again. I want to make it very clear, I did not rejoin nor did I order any movies (DVD's). Every time a DVD would arrive, I would refuse the package, and give it back to the Post Office. I have started to receive invoices, and requesting payment. They are also charging me for late fees. They are requesting a payment in the amount of $196.58.

I have written them several times explaining that I haven't been a member in many years. I refused the DVD's, and returned them to the Post office. The last response I received from them...was that the account was closed, andI did not owe the $196.58. On Friday, June 13, 2014, I received a collections letter that I owe the $196.58.

Once again, I did NOT order these moves, I haven't been a member in several years. These movies have been returned to them via the US Post Office. I find it unethical business practices that they take upon themselves to start shipping movies. I feel that I do not owe the $196.58. I did not order the movies. I did not renew any membership with Columbia.

Thank you, [redacted]Desired Settlement: I do not owe the balance due of $196.58

Review: In 2007, I terminated my "membership" with BMG Music by writing "Return to Sender - Cancel Membership" along with an RMA number on a package BMG sent and placed it in the mailbox at the Post Office. I never received any further CD selections or bills from BMG after that (although I continued to receive incentives to rejoin. On June 7, 2013 I received a notification from [redacted] about a derogatory account on my credit report. When I investigated, it was a company called [redacted]. I called them and found they were attempting to collect $21.97 for a CD that I never bought. Until the contact, I thought this matter was resolved in 2007 as I was NEVER contacted about it after the return of their merchandise. Furthermore, I filed a Chapter 7 bankruptcy which was discharged in 2010 and included ALL debt in my tri-bureau credit report.

This company is acting on incorrect information and I will not pay on a debt I did not incur.Desired Settlement: Correct the error. BMG, take my name out of your database and contact [redacted] to notify that agency that I do not owe that debt. Get this information off of my credit report.

Review: DVD club sent unrequested DVD after membership terminated and continued to bill for same after DVD was returned.

I terminated my membership in Columbia house DVD Club. But even after acknowledged termination club sent me an unsolicited DVD. I immediately returned DVD, unopened, via USPS. Club continued to bill me even though DVD was returned. I complained about this directly to Columbia House, both by mail and E Mail but NEVER received a response, except for another bill with late fees included. I realized that thier business practice is to not acknowledge complaints, but to continue to send bills racking up late fees. Ultimately they notify the credit bureaus. In order to avoid the aggravation and hassle, I paid the bill to get them off my back. My account # was [redacted] the DVD was "Men In Black III".Desired Settlement: They must acknowledge that the DVD was returned, or investigate with the USPS if they never received it, and they must refund my payment of $37.25

Review: My collection status with Columbia DVD is false. I was not notified of balance due within a timely matter to get this resolved before collection stage

I first learned of this collection from [redacted] a few years ago when pulling my credit report to learn my score and review for accuracy. At first I was confused and totally unaware of what company it was for. I did some digging, got the runaround, but finally found out that it was for an unsatisfied contract with Columbia House DVD. This was surprising to me because I had never received a past due statement, phone call or final notice from this company before these measures were taken. Furthermore, I could not even remotely recall what I had purchased until today (03/20/13) when a representative at the collection agency FINALLY listed it out for me after I had inquired numerous times in the past with Columbia House DVD. I have requested that documentation of my balance owed be sent to me in writing several times and I have never received one statement. If I am lucky enough to actually reach someone, they refuse to deal with me because it is being handled by a collection agency. I do not feel comfortable paying this shady company for something if they are unwilling to work with me on their own. This has been a huge headache for me and has negatively affected my credit score. It is shameful, as the amount owed is less than $100. If I would have been notified of this within a timely matter, the bill would have been paid and this measure would not have to be taken.Desired Settlement: If I, in fact, owe a balance to Columbia House DVD, I will pay them directly once they can provide me with a detailed statement showing the items I received. Furthermore, I would like this collection to be removed from my credit report.

Review: I am a member of Columbia House DVD Club. For quite a few weeks I have been trying to get ahold of Customer Service but what I get is music. When I first call the company, I get an automated recording, but I cannot get through to Customer Service. If I cancel my Director's Selection by recording, it is sent to me anyway. Then I have to send it back th rough the post office. What a waste of time! I do not know why I cannot reach a live person in customer service. I would like to know what is very wrongt. In February, 2013, I sent a request to cancel my membership. Since I could no longer sign in to their website as a member, I assumed my membership had been cancelled. I heard nothing from the dvd club for about 6 months. Then, out of nowhere, they began sending me unordered dvds with accompanying bills. I sent them a letter via US Postal service. The bills and dvds continue to arrive on my doorstep. I have returned all dvds, unopened, and have mailed another letter via US Postal service.
