Review: For the second time in approximately 2 weeks, Columbia House has taken 2 payments of $25.96 out of my checking account. I had not ordered anything. When I checked the website, it even said I had placed no orders. I tried repeatedly to contact them and after 3-4 days someone emailed me and said I had failed to decline a order. Yet, on their website, it even says there had been no order placed. Then I noticed that the 2 payments had dropped out of my checking account and I thought they must have realized they screwed up and that the matter was over. Then this week (11/4) it starts all over again. Two payments of $25.94 again taken out of my account. Since they won't respond to emails quickly, I found a phone number for them and called. After being on the phone several minutes, I was told they were going to investigate the matter. The supervisor agreed with me that there were no orders placed. They told me to call my bank and have the hold released on the payments. So I did. The next day, Columbia House submitted the payments again and that caused my checking account to be overdrawn. I am now being charged a $40.00 overdraft fee AND over $50.00 for dvds I don't have and never ordered. This is the worst company to do business with. The won't respond to emails and the supervisor who told me that the matter would be investigated never called me back.Desired Settlement: DesiredSettlementID: Refund

I want to be refunded for the dvds (that I do not have) and the overdraft fees - a total of $88.88. I also want to be released from my commitment.

Review: Columbia House charged my credit card $25.94 on 7-9-13. I contacted them 4 times about the problem. On 3 separated occassions they advised that a credit was being processed back to my card. The final time I called which was on 10-2-13. I spoke with [redacted] and he advised that he saw the transaction on my account but they needed to verify my card number. Said credit must of been applied to wrong account. Said his supervisor would process the credit that day to my account. Said it should show up within 3 -5 days. Today is 10-8-13 and the credit has still not been processed to my credit card.

I never placed an order therefore the charge should never of been charged on my card. I feel I have given them plenty chances to correct there error and while they are telling me that they are, nothing is being done. I am honestly tired of checking to see if the credit has applied each time they have told me it has been done. I am being charged finance charges on this amount as well on 4 statements now which I feel they should be responsible for.Desired Settlement: I would like to get the credit back to my credit card and I feel they are responsible for the finance charges for 4 statements

My wife was a member of the dvd club service and attempted to call and cancel her membership on several occasions and was given a hard time by customer service rep, she was told that her membership would be cancelled upon payment of a balance that was due. After paying the balance due she continued to receive goods that she did not request or order.Desired Settlement: I want the membership to be cancelled and to not receive any more shipments from the company

Review: Returned item REFUSED. Credit not given. Contact to Service Reps.

Ordered dvds and sent the package back REFUSED as told by customer service rep. After several emails explaining that selections were sent back I still keep getting that a label will be sent out and I still explain to them that the package has been sent back and I do not need a label. I returned the package on 8/15/13. I have emailed correspondence to Brittany Jemison, and the other correspondence replies as customer service. The method is billing.Desired Settlement: My account credited for 73.98 and my account closed.

Review: Columbia House DVD sent some debt over to [redacted] (a collection agency)for a so called contract and DVD's I have never received from 2008.

Back in 2008 I had mailed a postcard to buy some DVDs. I never received any DVDs so I figured that the postcard got lost and Columbia House never got my order because nothing was sent to me. I received a letter from a collection agency for 54.88 because I didn't fulfill a contract to purchase more DVDs. My account# is [redacted] and the original account# is [redacted] with Columbia House.Desired Settlement: This company is using deceptive practices to build customers for a debt that doesn't exist.

A report by Columbia House DVD was made to the [redacted] stating I owe $119 from a 2003 contract. I have never been a member of Columbia House. The collection agency could not provide me with proof of purchase. Columbia House has never sent me a letter or made a ph one call trying to collect. I have lived at the same residence since the alleged contract date. I am not going to pay for something that they cannot properly bill me for or collect. I want this debt removed from my record and credit report.Desired Settlement: I am not seeking a settlement. I want this debt canceled and removed from my record and credit report.

Review: The company said I had signed up by mail back in 2008 and didn't fulfill the requirements. I never sent in or signed up with them during that time.

I am trying to refinance my house at a better rate then I have now, and the finance company said I had a "ding" on my credit. Upon investigating, we discovered Columbia House said I didn't fulfill their requirement of purchase from 2008. Well I had not submitted anything to that company to sign up for anything. [redacted] said I had to pay $68.85 to get it taken care of, which I did ONLY because I did not want the rate to go up for what I was financing for my house and to avoid headaches and delays arguing with Columbia House. [redacted] told me that by paying I am admitting guilt, which I can understand from their point of view, but I only paid it so I can lock in that rate and clear my credit (hopefully). My credit history is perfect and I have NEVER had anything go to delicuent. I am very upset at CH for sending off these fraudulent charges. I emailed CH as well and have yet to hear from them. I cannot find a phone number to communicate with anyone there about this matter. This is a very unfair practice of them. I shouldnt of had to pay that money but I did so I can take care of things on my end with my house. I know I am not the first one to have this happen to them and I believe they should refund me the $68.85 or show me some proof with my signature since according to [redacted], I had signed up by mail. And if I supposedly did that, why did they not send any type of notices to me in the mail alerting me that I need to fulfill something like other companies do? Then I could have taken action then.Desired Settlement: I am not sure if it is possible, but I want Columbia house to pay back the $68.85 they said I had supposedly owed them when I NEVER signed up. Regarding my loan/refinance, this action commited by Columbia House also cost us $1200 towards the refinancing. With my credit being perfect up until CH came into the picture, we are not able to borrow the amount we needed. This is extremely uncalled for with them doing this. I doubt they will cover me for that $1200 but I at least want my $68.85 back.

Response:

I keep getting the same response from CH. "we'll look into it". So far nothing. [redacted] took the payment on March 20, 2013. The only reason I paid it to get was to get this "ding" off my credit history. Like I stated, I never signed up for their service at said time. I want them to issue me a refund back and have them also clear this up with [redacted] or whomever they need to so I can get this off my credit. What also upsets me on top of this, is my wife and I are trying to refinance our house and redo our kitchen, and this error on their end ended up costing us approx $1200 in loan money that we couldn't get. Sadly I know CH will not do anything about that. I just want my $68.85 back from them and for them to clear this up so my credit isn't messed up due to whatever scams they are pulling.

Review: co.disregarded requests to not ship an item.

Item was returned unopened but will not issue refund to my credit card.

I preordered an item in Oct.2013 that was to be released late November/early December.

They were unable to ship the item in 2013 at all so I cancelled it and my account with them as well, and purchased it elsewhere.

In late January 2014 they shipped it despite my cancellation and charged cmy [redacted] credit card.

Upon delivery 4+weeks ago the item was immediately refused delivery -return to sender unopened.

I notified the company of this and was told a refund would be issued. As of today no refund has been issued.

Communication is spotty at best and usually refers to the wrong item, etc.

They have absolutely received the return but are avoiding their responsibility to refund my money.Desired Settlement: I want them to issue the refund they promised.

Review: I have never used CHDVD's service nor create an account. There's a $136 overdue negative account from Columbia House DVD on my Experian credit report.

On my Experian Credit Report, [redacted] posted a negative account, trying to collect $136 overdue from Columbia House DVD, beginning April 2011. I have NEVER shopped at Columbia House DVD, nor create an account with them. I called them at ###-###-#### to verify the debt, but they did not give me any information in regards to the debt, but forced me to pay the $136. Under FDCPA 809, I am entitled to the debt verification, but they denied my rights.

I have also tried contacting Columbia House DVD and speak to a US representative, but I was just transferred around to [redacted] representatives, without erroneous charge getting fixed.

Because of their false reports, I was declined my credit card applications from [redacted] and [redacted]. I was also declined an auto loan.

This erroneous report lowered my credit score approximately by 100 points.

They need to remove all the accounts in my credit report. They also need to properly compensate me for my getting my credit card applications denied, as well as my auto loan getting declined.

On my Experian Credit Report, [redacted] posted a negative account, trying to collect $136 overdue from Columbia House, beginning April 2011. Direct Brands Inc. is the parent company of Columbia House. I have NEVER shopped at Columbia House DVD, nor create an account with them. I called [redacted] at ###-###-#### to verify the debt, but they did not give me any information in regards to the debt, but forced me to pay the $136. Under FDCPA 809, I am entitled to the debt verification, but they denied my rights. I have also tried to contact Columbia House directly at ###-###-####, but they do not answer their phone. Furthermore, I have sent numerous e-mails beginning December 2012 to fix this erroneous charge but only reply I received was "we are updating our systems." Because of their false reports, I was declined my credit card applications from [redacted] and [redacted]. I was also declined an auto loan. This erroneous report lowered my credit score approximately by 100 points. They need the false report in my credit report IMMEDIATELY. They also need to properly compensate me for getting my credit card applications denied, as well as various loans getting declined.

They need to contact me at ###-###-####. If I don't answer they need to leave a call-back number. They need to remove the erroneous billing on Experian, IMMEDIATELY. They also need to pay me $5000 for stealing my social security number and wrongfully reporting me to Experian as well as [redacted]. Their erroenous report destroyed my credit score, and because of it, I was denied of many loans I needed for my Law School. Not only that, I had to spend recorded amount of 37 hours on the phone, just to try and fix this error.

Desired Settlement: They need to remove all the accounts in my credit report. They also need to properly compensate me for my getting my credit card applications denied, as well as my auto loan getting declined. I have also reported this case to FTC and California's Attorney General. My consumer lawyer is reviewing this case for proper settlement.

Review: I ordered several DVDS from this company. I purchased these from my checking account through my debit card. I received all of the DVDS that I had ordered. When I received the DVDS on the receipt the balance was 0.00. I logged into my account a week ago and noticed that my balance was $62.69.I have the understanding that this company will not send DVDS unless they are paid for in advance. Like I had said the DVDS had been paid for in advance before they had sent them to me. I have contacted their customer service department 3 different times and have just been told that I owe $62.69. I asked how this would be possible considering there would be no way that I would owe this amount since they were paid for in advance of them sending them. They continued saying the amount that I owed and the DVDS that I owed for. I had to type a complaint on their website , there is no contact number to get in touch with this company and no actual address to contact them. The address that I put in is the address they have for returning DVDS.Desired Settlement: I would like to have the amount taken off from my account that they say that I owe because of obvious reasons that I have explained above. And I would also like to close my account with this company.

Dear [redacted]:

On review, our records show that

we shipped DVD selections to [redacted] totaling $147.21 from November 1, 2013

show that we received and applied the following payments from [redacted], via

Review: I have started keeping e-mails, as they will tell me one thing over the phone, but still no refund and also accounts is open

I have been a long time member, but there have been several issues this year of shipments I never ordered. I was told my account would be setup for no Director Selection, although that wasn't the issue (I was told a system glitch). I kept and paid for two shipments but stated I would cxl account if this continued. It continues and I have e-mails stating they would refund account and cxl membership, but it never happened. I still get director selections even after they stated my account would be set for NO director selections. I was told twice over the phone that a return postage would be sent to my house so I could return the DVD. Never happened. Again, I have the e-mail stating they credited the account and would cxl, but its still open and showing a balance. My account number is [redacted]. Can't believe the treat a long term customer like this, I have ordered many movies and always paid ontime and in full.Desired Settlement: I want account cleared and cxld. I paid for two shipments I never ordered and were NOT director selections, and they should have sent me the return postage as promised via phone. No balance and account closed. They should fix the customer service and system issue.

Consumer

Response:

Poor customer service, especially when calling via phone. I have made several attempt to resolve issue via phone and e-mail. Credit account & cxl. I have been a long time customer w/ Columbia House and never experienced this level of poor customer service in the past. After multiple shipments of movies that were NOT ordered (not Director Selections) and calling to ask how / why with no actions as promised, I then tried to close / cxl my account. I have e-mails confirming my account would be credited and closed. I was told over the phone that a paid postage return would be sent for the shipment error. I just kept and paid the previous error, as they never did what was agreed. This current shipment I am not going to let them ignore the mistake and keep my account open. I have enough documentation showing they are not providing / completing what has been agreed (e-mail and mail notification). I was also told when I called on the previous error that my account would be setup for NO director selections, although they stated the shipment was do to a recent system issue. Still get notifications to respond to Directors Selection, so they didn't do what they agreed (again).

Desired Settlement

I want account fully credited. I paid for two invalid / shipment errors recently, but expect full refund of the current balance and that account be closed.

Desired Settlement: Other (requires explanation)

Review: fradulent reporting of debt to collection agency

After contacting our loan officer to begin purchasing a home, it was brought to my attention that I had a negative account on my Credit Report from Columbiahouse DVD that was in collections for $87. It was apparently from years ago. I contacted the company and was informed there was no record of me by name or address. This is adversely effecting me and my family and upon reading up on this company it seems that fraudulent transaction of this nature are very common by Columbiahouse and an attempt to make small settlements from people trying to clear their name and purchase homes. I am amazed that the company shows no record of me yet my CR clearly states their name on a collection agency.Desired Settlement: I would like this debt completely removed from all three CRAs immediately so that my family and I can resume our home purchasing.

Review: I wish to stop service and not have to decline a monthly DVD / pay for the monthly DVD. I've written many times to do this and received no response

I sent numerous emails on the websites "contact us" page, I have heard nothing back. There is no way to terminate service on the website. The main issue is that one needs to manually decline a DVD each month or the person gets charged. I no longer want to have to log in to do that.Desired Settlement: terminate Service.
