Review: I am writing to dispute the collection on account number [redacted] originally under DIRECT BRANDS INC. COLUMBIA HOUSE. According to my credit report I owe this company $192.00 and the account was supposedly opened in 2006. I have to my knowledge never had an account with Columbia House for any of their products and not only that but at the time the account was opened I would have been under 18 years old and I do not believe I would have been allowed to open the account. To my knowledge this account appears to be fraudulent. I made multiple attempts to get information on this account from Direct Brands and they do not have anything on file. I have attached a police report with this letter. I appreciate your assistance in this matter.Desired Settlement: I wish to be contacted and have the negative information removed from my credit report. I have made several attempts to contact this company and all have failed.

Review: I was not notified in writing that the debt was valid or given an amount due or a date that the amount would be due.

I had an account with Columbia House DVD Club in August of 2012. I was unaware that there was a balance due on the account. I also was unaware that they would be adding this negative information to my credit report. I found out after having my credit run for an auto loan. This is the only negative report on my credit and it caused me to be denied for the car loan in question.Desired Settlement: I wish to have this negative item removed from my credit report as it is not a valid debt.I would also like for Columbia House to start following the law when it comes to someone's credit. I worked hard to build my credit over 9 years and now I have a negative item on there.

Review: Columbia House has not honored their promise to refund my money after I returned DVDs that I did not request.

I have had an account with Columbia House for years. I recently let my credit card expire and did not renew it because I no longer wanted them to have my new number. Columbia House continuously charged my expired card until they were able to get money off of it. Even though that card was paid off, I now have charges on it from them. They sent me one movie. I called and cancelled my membership and was told to send the movie back and they would refund my money. I sent it back. Two weeks later, I recieved another movie that was again charged to my credit card even though my account was cancelled. They are ruthless. All they want is money and dont care that I am paying interest on a paid off card waiting for them to refund my money. I have emailed them, called them, and still no response. I just want my money back and no further contact from them.Desired Settlement: I want my money refunded ASAP. Im tired of paying on a credit card I paid off months ago.

Review: They are trying to charge me for Dvd's that I never opened and always sent back to them.

I was a member with this DVD Club, during that time, they sent me what is called "Directors Selection" every month which I always sent back without opening. During my membership I did purchase the required amount of products to fulfill the contract. After which I tried to cancel my membership multiple times with no satisfaction until this past month. A few weeks after I completed the cancellation I received a bill for $138.70 for 7 DVDs I never received and if I did I returned them without opening the box, so I would have no idea what they were. The charges are:

1/2/14- Despicable Me 2- $6.00

5/5/14- Late Fee Charge- $3.00

1/10/14- Fast & Furious 6- $25.94

1/27/14- Elysium- $25.94

2/12/14- Lee Daniels' The Butler- $25.94

2/26/14- Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2- $25.94

4/23/14- The Hunger Games: Catching Fire- $25.94

This was the first and only bill I had ever received for these and was furious because I have not kept any of these movies.Desired Settlement: Remove the charges from the account and close the account as it should be already. Also to not send me anymore products.

Review: Filled a collection against me though I have never used their services. Has been very difficult to contact in order to fix. Online reviewers say same.

I went to apply for a home loan, and was surprised to find that my formerly spotless credit report now said that I had an outstanding collection notice from 7/13 attributed to the Columbia House DVD Club. I had never heard of this company and had no idea what they did or how they got my name, but I went online to try to find a customer service number at which to call them and get this resolved. I found their website easily, but they had no phone number listed. I opted to send them an email asking for explanation and a better form of contact. My complaint was almost immediately replied to by a generic email that said they were "continuing to implement upgrades to (their) system" and that "there may be a delay in responding to (my) inquiry."

When I looked a little bit further online I came to find that there were numerous reports of fraudulent charges and collection notices attributed to this company. Many of which mentioned that when they tried to contact Columbia House DVD, they were given quite the run-around and often times were unable to resolve the issue. All of which came from varied locations around the country.

My husband and I finally found a number after lots of online searching, and though we reached a customer service representative, they were not able to tell us anything about the account or the charges. Said they would "call us in 1-2 business days," but we have yet to hear back.

Based on our experience, as well as those of the other reviews we found online, I believe this is most definitely a company whose practices warrant investigation, if one has not already been started.Desired Settlement: I want my credit score fixed, the charges nullified, and I would like them to be under heavy scrutiny so that no one else is put through this financial stressor.

ACCOUNT IN QUESTION: OPENED DEC.15TH 2010 IN

HIGHLAND, N.Y.

ACCOUNT FORWARDED TO RECEIVABLE PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT (R.P.M.)/ESCALATIONS FOR COLLECTIONS

###-###-####

This account was fraudulently opened by a individual with the same name. Upon review of my credit report a debt was forwarded to RPM/Escalations for collections for the amount of $130.00.

In addition, I have never had an account with Columbia house.

After talking with R.P.M/Escaltions representatives Jillian & Tianne on Sept 15th and Oct 2nd 2014 they both had verified that the account was opened and located in Highland, New York. I have NEVER LIVED in or VISITED this location where the account was fraudulently opened.

Both RPM/Escaltions representatives had asked me to forward a copy of my credit report to verify my places of residence in which I did, both had agreed upon receiving my attachments (credit report) via e-mail that I never lived or opened an account in Highland N.Y. they both had stated that they would forward this information to the proper personnel to have this debt/collections removed from my credit report.

As of today Oct 26th 2014 nothing has been changed on my credit report.Desired Settlement: To have this debt/collection REMOVED from my credit report immediately.

Review: Columbia House sent me 3 DVDs that I did not order and charged my credit card $27.50 per DVD. They have received the DVDs but didn't credit my card.

The practice was to email a "Directors Selection" to me each month and I could chose to accept or decline it. They admitted there was a "glitch" and the emails were not sent starting July 2014 so I didn't have an opportunity to make my choice. They sent me 3 DVDs I didn't order and charged my credit card $27.50 on July 10th, July 20th and August 26th for a total of $82.50.I immediately returned the DVDs upon receipt.Despite numerous calls in which they admitted that they had received the DVDs, they have not given me any credit to date. I have spent hours on hold and have spoken to several representatives and supervisors but still no credits have been issued.Desired Settlement: I want them to credit the $82.50 back to my card or send me a check.

Review: I was charged for a movie that I never received. I was told I would receive a refund and never received it.

According to Columbia House I failed to respond to my Directors Selection Choice for July 2014, in return I was automatically ordered Lego Movie. I received no email or notice saying a purchase had been made or shipped or delivered. I had no knowledge of the charge until I received my [redacted] Card bill and the charge was on it. I was charged $27.50 for the movie. On August 7th a Columbia House representative named Joseph S[redacted] informed me that the movie was shipped on July 17th and would take three weeks to be delivered, however at the time of that email three weeks had already passed, and no movie had arrived. When I checked my account on columbiahouse.com it showed no recent ordered and no orders for the past 12 months. Also on August 7th, Joseph S[redacted] the representative for Columbia House said that since I did not receive the movie, that a refund would be issued. I still have not received this said refund and it has been almost a month and I have not received the credit back on my [redacted] Card. Note I still haven't received this Lego Movie that Columbia House claims to have send but curiously is not anywhere in my order history.Desired Settlement: I want my refund of $27.50 and after I receive it I want my account with Columbia House cancelled

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because: I have been told that Columbia House is researching my issue since August 7th Joseph S[redacted] (at Columbia House) emailed me and said he was researching and will process my refund as quick as possible. Then again on August 26th I reached out again and was told the same thing by "Jeff" at Columbia House that my concern was being forwarded on. Still by September no refund, I called and was told my refund was being reviewed and because there was no action made I submitted a complaint to the Revdex.com. Since then it has taken Columbia House eight weeks to respond to the Revdex.com and still I am getting the same answer of my complaint being researched. Might I add, there is still no record of this item in my past orders and I have never received the item. After of months of waiting, I disputed the charge with my credit card company. In my complain tot the Revdex.com I requested my account be cancelled by Columbia House, in addition I went on to their website to cancel my account several times and was unsuccessful. Cancel my account with Columbia House, I will not be doing business with any company that puts customers on the back burner. I am requesting this be done immediately.

I've attached a copy of the email correspondence with Columbia House

Review: unable to login to refuse delivery. col house acknowledged problem but is refusing the movies I sent back to them. Will not accept movies or credit me

Col house emails "directors picks" that you are supposed to accept or decline. I decline ALL. If you don't decline, they send to you and charge you. Three times I was unable to log-in to decline. I addressed their cust support team and they acknowleged the problem and corrected the log-in issues. During the time I could not log in to decline, they sent three movies. I tried to mail all three movies back to them and they "refused/Return to sender."...and are charging me $80+. I've fulfilled all of my obligations to my col house membership.Desired Settlement: Accept the movies I have returned and credit back the $80+ to my account and end my relationship with Columbia House.

Review: I received a dvd and bill for more that I didn't order.

Columbia House sent a dvd RED DAWN that I didn't order. I immediately called them to tell them I didn't know where they got my name, but I didn't order anything from them and not to send anything else, because I wouldn't pay for them. I told them to send me a postpaid. envelope and I would send the movie back, but they said I had to pay to send it back. I looked online about complaints against them and other people still had bad credit after sending the movies back. Now years later, they have turned it over to a collections agency affecting my credit score. The amount is now $130.00. I think this Co. should be forced out of business for its shady business practices. Thanks, Linda HinkleyDesired Settlement: To have my credit restored with the bill gone. Review: [redacted] and Columbia House Mysterious Credit Alert

I monitor my credit accounts very closely and even pay for alerts. I received an alert this week stating that Columbia House and [redacted] had filed against my credit report.

I called [redacted] immediately and asked for information on this account in which they stated a charge of $21.94 was owed from 2006. I informed them I had received no communication at all through mail, email, or phone on this and have no knowledge of this account. I would happily pay $21.94 if that was truly mine. This was tied to a PO box in [redacted] they said which I live in [redacted].

COLUMBIA HOUSE DVD CLUB Account # [redacted]

[redacted].

[redacted], [redacted]

Dear **. [redacted]:

I am responding to the inquiry your office forwarded for **. [redacted].

On review, our records show that when **. [redacted] enrolled in the COLUMBIA HOUSE DVD CLUB, via our website, on August 1, 2013, he took advantage of our offer to select 3 DVDs at $2.99 each, plus shipping and processing charges, with membership.

Our records indicate that we shipped 3 enrollment selections to **. [redacted]. We charged $2.99 for each of these DVDs, plus shipping and processing charges, for a total cost of $5.18 per DVD. **. [redacted] also ordered another DVD, at a cost of $17.14, plus shipping and processing. The total cost of the order was $32.68, which we charged to **. [redacted]’s [redacted] card on file.

As part of Club membership, each month we send our members a catalog announcing the Director‘s Selection. Each catalog includes a reply card containing a “reply by” date. If members do not reply by the specified date declining the Director’s Selection, we ship the Director’s Selection automatically.

Since we have no record of receiving a response from **. [redacted] declining the Director’s Selection, on October 15, 2013, we automatically shipped it to him and charged $25.94 to his [redacted] card on file.

As an accommodation, we have issued a credit of $25.94 to **. [redacted]’s [redacted] card.

Please assure **. [redacted] that we have deleted his [redacted] card information from our records. Future Club orders and charges will now be billed to **. [redacted]’s DVD Club account. We have also changed his account status to a different plan. Under this plan, **. [redacted] will no longer have to reply to his Director’s Selection unless he wants to order the selection(s). We will not ship any Director’s Selections to him automatically.

We trust this resolves **. [redacted]’s concerns.

You may contact me at ###-###-#### with any questions. You may also send an e-mail to [redacted].
