Review: I haven't been with Columbia House in maybe 7 years and I was sent a "bill" that stated I owe $25.94. I refuse to pay this and they have no proof that I owe this at all. I have long since cancelled all my Columbia House memberships and the fact that I'm being asked to pay a "bill" is ludicrous. This is a scam of the highest order.Desired Settlement: Cancel my account (again) and eliminate all contact with me. Colombia House is a terrible company and the fact they are still allowed to scam consumers is laughable.

Review: Almost two years ago, I found out that there was a delinquency on my account from Columbia House DVD. It said I had a forty dollar accruement I had to pay and it was sent to collections. I had never even heard of the company before, let alone used their services. I called their customer service and explained that there had to be a mistake. I was called immature and told that I should man up and take care of my problems and that I had to pay. Not only had my credit taken a hit from this but now I was being insulted for something I didn't even do! It wound up that the account was to someone with the same first and last name who lived on another street in the city I lived in. Despite finding out that mistake, I was told I still had to pay. I wound up being fed up with it and just paid them their money even if I didn't get a single phone call, letter, or DVD saying I had ever used Columbia House DVD. And now my wife and I applied for a mortgage and it's saying that I'm delinquent to them AGAIN! For the same amount! And that the account has been delinquent since April of 2008. Once again, no letters or phone calls, it just randomly shows up on my credit report. Now, I can't get approved for a mortgage because of the "delinquency" that was supposedly taken care of. My credit dropped to a 560 so even if I do pay them again, more likely than not I won't be able to get my mortgage.Desired Settlement: I shouldn't have to pay twice for something I didn't even do. I don't want to pay for this and I want it taken off my credit report permanently.

Review: I have filed a complaint about Columbia House DVD Club recently. It mailed me another dvd today. I have already emailed them about it.

I filed a complaint about Columbia House DVD Club recently. Within the past two days I have notified customer service to have them stop sending me mailings. Today I received a dvd I in mail. I immediately emailed them my complaint again. I plan on returning the item unopened. The customer service representative told me that I would receive at least one mailing. She acknowledged my cancellation had been received. I then told her I wanted nothing else sent to me since I had cancelled my membership.Desired Settlement: I want them to honor my cancellation. I have better things to do than to constantly email complaints to what should be a respectable business. Also, it will not bother me at all to write "Return to Sender" on packages they send. How the post office handles it after that is not my concern.

COLUMBIA HOUSE DVD CLUB Account

#[redacted]

Dear [redacted]:

I am responding to the inquiry your

office forwarded for [redacted].

On review, our records indicate that

a COLUMBIA HOUSE DVD CLUB account was opened in [redacted]’ name on December

15, 2006. We shipped an enrollment order

and charged $3.00 to the Club account.

We received payment for the enrollment order.

The purchase commitment associated

with this account was to buy a certain number of DVDs within a specified time

period.

We shipped 3 DVDs to the address on

the account, [redacted], on March 23, 2007, and

added a charge of $84.24 to the DVD Club account for the shipment. When payment was not received, we added 3

late charges, at $3.00 each, on May 4, 2007, June 1, 2007 and June 29, 2007, in

accordance with our delinquent payment policies.

We subsequently added a charge

of $23.75 to the Club account on July 27, 2007, which represents the 1 DVD

remaining in the purchase commitment, plus shipping and processing charges and

tax, bringing the balance due to $116.99.

When the outstanding balance

remained unpaid, we placed the debt in collections. We subsequently sold the

account to [redacted] ([redacted]).

Though we are not the creditor

of record, as a courtesy we have contacted [redacted] on [redacted]’ behalf. [redacted]

Review: I received a copy of my credit report from all three credit bureaus. I noticed a collection account on my [redacted] and [redacted] reports that was not a debt that I owed. I called the collection company and they said that I owe $55.19 for a debt from Columbia House DVD. I never purchased anything from Columbia House, ever. [redacted], the collection agency, said that I ordered DVDs on 2/25/2008, and they said that I ordered them from an address that I have not resided in for over 10 years. I never received correspondence from [redacted] or [redacted], my parents still live at the residence of the reported address, and they collect mailings for me. I called [redacted] when I received my credit report and told them that this was not my debt. They said that I could pay for a deletion which would cost me $55, but when I asked for that in writing they refused. I then contacted the 2 credit bureaus who reported this debt (** and **) and disputed the debt. TU investigated and could not verify the debt within a week. [redacted]'s investigation resulted in a remain in reporting. I was advised by [redacted] to contact the original creditor, Columbia House DVD, to understand what is going on. I then called [redacted], and they have no information on me or my supposed account. I asked them if they could pull up what I ordered, and they could not. I then contacted [redacted] collection agency, and a rude woman said that I could dispute it in writing, but they are insistent that this is my debt and nothing will be done until its paid. I have read that many other people have had this same exact problem with Columbia House, [redacted], and [redacted], and I personally feel violated and enraged that I have to go through all this for a fake debt and a blemish on my credit report. I am contemplating on whether I should hire a lawyer to take care of this matter because I feel that this is illegal against all 3 parties, Columbia House DVD, [redacted] collection agency, and [redacted]. The debt is only $55, but they shouldn't be able to continue this.

Product_Or_Service: NoneDesired Settlement: DesiredSettlementID: Other (requires explanation)

I want this false debt to be deleted from my [redacted] Credit report. Columbia House has no information regarding an account that I supposedly owe a debt for. The collection agency, [redacted], states that I ordered DVDs in 2008 or 2009 from an address that I have not resided at for over 10 years. I am requesting that [redacted] remove my information from their database and please don't share my current information with [redacted]

Review: Ordered two DVD's from Columbia House online under their "Buy 1, Get 1 Free" certificate that they include with DVD's from a previous order. They charge you for the most expensive one and the other is free. I ordered "Abraham Lincoln/VAMP for $17.95 and the other "Big As Spider listed for $14.95 was supposed to be free. They sent me both but charged me for both.I have sent three e-mails to their customer service section and was told it would be corrected and the $14.95 reposted to my credit card. When I still didn't see it posted to my account I contacted them by phone on two occasions and spoke to a guy (Jeff) and a lady and each time was told it would be credited. I first contacted them on May 7, then May 10, May 28, and Jun 11. To this date they have still not credited the $14.95 back to my credit card. I'm afraid even if I send the DVD's back (which I have not opened yet) I won't see the $32.90 they have charged to my credit card. Your assistance in getting this corrected would be greatly appreciated. My account number is "[redacted]". My order # was [redacted]. Review: CH continues to bill for a DVD neither ordered nor received after telling me charges would be removed. Terrible customer service.

Account is being charged (although I have not received any actual bills) for a DVD I neither ordered nor received. I have contacted them several times through their customer service section on the website and rarely get a response. the one time I did it merely stated the name of the DVD because at that time that was unknown to me as well. I have spent over 1 hour on hold one day trying to get this resolved. The gentleman told me they had updated systems and this was the likely cause - he would remove the charges. That was several months ago - today the balance is still on my account and interest continues to accrue. I have asked for my membership to be cancelled due to lack of customer service and this has not been done either. The company refuses to respond or fix the issue.Desired Settlement: Remove charges from my account - cancel membership.

Review: Received a letter from [redacted] saying I owed Columbia House $117.70 from DVD's I ordered in 2008. I never ordered.

On February 21, 2014 I received a letter from [redacted] their address is [redacted] saying I owed Columbia House $117.70 I called Receivables at ###-###-####, gave them my reference number that was on the letter which is [redacted] and they said Columbia house had sent me DVD's back in 2008 and I had failed to paid for them so Columbia House had turned me over to their collections. I told them I've never ordered any DVD's from anyone online. They then told me to write them a letter stating that I dispute the validity of this debt which I will do within the next 2 days. I did a search on the internet on "Columbia House Scams" and was surprised at the number of complaints that other people have that's the same as mine.Desired Settlement: I would like verification from the collection agency or Columbia house how many DVD's I ordered, the names of the DVD's and if this is legit why didn't they take my credit card before mailing them out. I know they will not be able to come up with anything because I never order anything on line. I want this canceled before it ends up on my credit score and a letter from [redacted] or Columbia House indicating this account has been cleared up.

Complaint Detail

Unable to cancel account despite customer service repeatedly confirming account cancellation. I have two accounts with Columbia House (not sure how that happened) associated with one e-mail address. Each month, I used to log in to both accounts to decline the Featured Selection so it was not mailed. The company switched to e-mail login on their website. At that time, I contacted the company via their customer service e-mail addressed to inquire as to whether my two accounts were consolidated. I was not able to get an answer. I continued to log in to the account online to cancel Featured Selections, but they were delivered each month. I returned them to sender each time. I began contacting customer service to address the issue. I e-mailed customer service with my issue and received a form e-mail indicating that they were sorry I was experiencing website login issues and that they reset the password associated with my account. It indicated that I would receive a temporary password in a separate e-mail. No such password was ever received. I answered that I did not ask for my password to be reset and that I now had no access to my online account due to their changing my password. I exchanged many e-mails with customer service. Each time I reiterated my problem, and each time I received a form e-mail from a different person that did not answer my question or solve my issue. I began asking for my account to be cancelled. I received an e-mail indicating that my account was cancelled. I continued to receive Featured Selections in the mail. I again e-mailed requesting cancellation and again received confirmation via e-mail that the account would be cancelled. I continued to receive DVDs in the mail. I e-mailed again and this time received an e-mail indicating that I had balances on my accounts. This is not possible, as I have returned every unwanted delivery and have paid for items I've ordered at the time of check out. I indicated that I would not pay these balances and that I needed my account cancelled. I received another form email indicating that my account had been cancelled. I called customer service to ask that my accounts be cancelled. I provided the woman with both account numbers. She asked that I hold while she cancelled each account. I held for several minutes while she worked, and she then indicated that both accounts had been successfully cancelled. I continue to receive DVDs in the mail, however. I first contacted customer service in November 2013. I need my accounts cancelled.

Desired Settlement

Cancel account(s) and receive no further contact, deliveries, or e-mails from Columbia House.

Review: Columbia House refuses to stop e-mailing me after I have made several demands for them to stop.

About a year and half ago I cancelled my Columbia House membership because of poor customer service and requested that they cease and desist from ever contacting me again by any means. They told me that they had removed my e-mail address from their database(s) and would comply.

On 7/30/13 they e-mailed me advertising their new website, so I went to their site and warned them once again to stop e-mailing me.

On 8/14/13 they e-mailed me again with some excuse about having technical difficulties.

I don't care what their excuse is, their e-mails need to cease and desist immediately, please!

I want Columbia House to respond to this complaint through the Revdex.com site only, and to never use my e-mail address ever again!

Thank you for your assistance!Desired Settlement: I want Columbia House to cease and desist from ever contacting me by any means, ever.

The only exception is their response to this complaint through the Revdex.com's site.

Review: I've never had an account with this agency; there's no way I could have a balance. They sent me to [redacted] for owing a $125 balance.

I have never had an account of any kind with Columbia House DVD; I've never had any dealings with them of any kind. There is no possible way that I could owe them any balance whatsoever because I have never used any of their services or had an account with them of any kind.

On approximately 12/15/10, they sold an account in my name to [redacted], stating that I have a $125.00 past due balance with Columbia House DVD; now this collection account appears on my credit report.

When I try to dispute this information with the aforesaid collection agency, I am told that Columbia House DVD confirms that the information is valid, and I must take the matter up with them.

I have written Columbia House DVD several letters regarding this issue; none have been returned. I've made more than 20 phone calls to the only customer service number I can seem to find for Columbia House DVD; each time, the person to whom I speak states that she's unable to help me, but that she will have someone look into the problem and get back to me. No one ever gets back to me.

I have submitted my complaints about this issue to the "contact customer service" forum on their website; I have never received any return contact in any way.

They are completely unwilling to even speak with me regarding this issue; all the while, [redacted] is attempting to collect a $125 debt that Columbia House DVD assures them is valid.

I am unable to even speak with anyone at Columbia House DVD for them to validate any account I may have with them, even though no such account exists.Desired Settlement: I want Columbia House DVD to acknowledge in writing, both to me, and [redacted] (as well as any other debt collecting agencies they may be using & all three credit bureaus) that I have never had an account with them, past due or otherwise.

This false and negative information must be removed from my credit reports from all three bureaus; this company must inform the collection agency(ies) to whom they sold this debt that it is in valid, as I have never had an account of any kind

Review: Impossible cancellation of fulfilled contract with this company; impossible to REACH anyone at this company!

For the past 4 years, I've been trying to cancel my fulfilled contract with Columbia House with several written letters, but they keep sending me emails to 'decline my selection,' which I've been doing, because I cannot get anyone on the phone at their place of business. I sent a letter asking to cancel my membership (since I fulfilled my commitment YEARS ago), but they didn't cancel it, nor did they confirm. I have sent several letters, even recently. I moved 3 years ago and they are now sending me postcards to my new address asking me to update my email address. They've obviously gotten my letter to cancel but will not cancel. I told them in my last letter I would contact the Revdex.com if they did not confirm my cancellation. They are certainly taking advantage of me at this point. I have no idea if they are sending DVDs to my old address? They said I have received a DVD, which I haven't. I've always declined my selections. They've put me in a position I shouldn't be in. PLEASE HELP! Thank you!Desired Settlement: I just need to be released from this ongoing commitment to this awful company. I fulfilled my commitment YEARS ago.
