Review: I never have done business with columbia house and they have sent me to collection without proof of charges.

I've never purchased anything from this company. They sent a bill to my address in 2012 for 80 dollars. I knew I hadn't purchased anything from them and assumed it was a scam. Now this month they've send me to a creditor and they are pursuing collection.Desired Settlement: I would like this charge wiped from my credit report and for them to cease and desist the collection process.

Review: I returned a movie and was waiting for the credit to show on my charge card. I had allowed enough time for them to credit my charge card so I wouldn't have to send payment to the credit card company. On 8/21 I called Columbia House and they said that they have given me a store credit (even though it never showed up as a store credit). I said you have never done that before and I wanted it credited back to my charge card. He spoke with his supervisor and said it would be done. On the day the payment was due on my charge card, I found they still hadn't made the credit, so I had to make the payment, they still hadn't credited my card. It was at that point that I began emailing Columbia House. I kept getting different answers from several different people. One said that my card was already credited back on 8/13. I responded that it was not! I have been checking every day and there isn't a credit showing! I decided to call again on 9/9. A women said that it still showed on Columbia house's system. She asked for my credit card number again and I gave it to her. She said that it would take 7-10 business days to go through. Once again, I checked my charge account, NO CREDIT SHOWING!!! I'm tired of getting the run-a-round! It's only for $25.94, but I could use that on something else. They are a big company, why is it they feel they need to lie to me for $25.94? Also, I never ordered this in the first place! I denied my Directors Selection well in time, but yet they sent it to me.

Review: Billed for something I never requested or ordered.

My credit is being docked for a bill that I do not have any knowledge of. Columbia House DVD claims I made an account and have owed them money since March 22, 2010 and the collection for this bill was posted on my credit report on June 24, 2012 and I have not seen this so called report until April 4, 2014. I have never made and account with them, ordered or received any said products from them. They are using a collections agency called [redacted] and are continuing to make my credit score drop. I have done research and found that I am not the only person to experience this same problem, from what I can tell this company is scamming people left and right.Desired Settlement: I want all of my information removed from their system and for this company to stop trying to collect this false debt that is damaging my credit score.

Review: I have a charge from columbia house dvd on my credit report for 136 dollars. Until I pulled my credit report...I had never heard of this company.

When I called columbia house, they redirected me to a collection agency called trident without even considering talking to me, in fact the woman was rude and laughed at me. When I spoke with the customer service rep at trident, I told her I wanted to dispute the charge. She read me a prewritten statement then hung up on me. I have no idea what to do or who to contact, but i've never ordered anything from columbia house in my life. These people are scam artists.

Had I never checked my credit report, I would have had no clue that this has been damaging my credit for YEARS! Why did I receive no letter, no phone call, no email? Is it not required by law that companies inform people that they owe a debt? I would have disputed this years ago had I known. If necessary, I will contact a lawyer and sue for damages done to my credit throughout the years.

Columbia house and all other companies for that matter, MUST contact customers (though I was never a customer) to tell them they owe money. A business cannot just charge someone and never inform them. That cannot be legal.Desired Settlement: I want this charge removed and the credit reporting agencies informed of the error.

If this is not fixed, I will sue for damages done through negligence. You must inform people they owe you money. I was never informed.

Review: Account was closed in 2/11 and was reopened without my permission on 5/13. Charges were made to my account and product sent without my permission

I closed my account in 2/11 and it was reopened by this company without my permission on 5/13 I incurred over $120.00 in charges and product not including overdraft fees in some cases. I contacted the company on 9/20/13 by phone 4 times and 2 times by e-mail asking for this account to be closed and to send the product back for a full return. As of 10/12/13 the account is still shown open and has a account balance of $48.00 of which I have not authorized any purchases. The I have returned non wanted and unused product back to the company on 10/8/13 total amount of product returned was $122.91. The account shows a debt of $48.00 in which I do not owe and I believe that the company will deduct that imaginary charge off of the total that is owed back to me. Plus my main concern is that the account is still active even after I have spoken to 4 separate employees from this company to close the account and charges are continuing to occur on my account. I do not want to have to close the bank account I have open because then they will not be able to credit my money back to my account that is owed and in leaving it open I am still occurring charges from this company. the account in question is account number [redacted] Under [redacted] I was informed by 2 of the 4 employees that I spoke to that my account was reactivated even though it had been closed for 2 years because of a system upgrade they have done to their company computer system.Desired Settlement: I would like my full $122.91 credited back to my bank account and for this company to finally close this account once and for all and I wish to never conduct business with them again.

Subject: [redacted] Complaint #[redacted]

To: [email protected]

My name is [redacted] I previously sent a complaint to your company regarding an issue I was having with Columbia House DVD Club. The issue was to have been resolved and a refund was to be credited to my Checking account through the debit card that they have on file. This resolution with Columbia House and myself was agreed upon on 10/22/2013 an a refund in the amount of $122.91 was to be issued. I received an e-mail confirming that this was to take place, but unfortunately this still has not occurred. I returned their product prior to filing my complaint with your company to resolve this issue, and even under their return policy I should have received the refund but still have not. I have since closed the checking account that the refund was to be placed in on 11/14/2013.

The reason for closing my checking account was due to the fact that another charge was trying to be placed on that account on 11/12/2013 for another movie in the amount of $22.48. I had my bank put a block on all charges that would be coming from a company charge noted as DBI Columbia House. They did not allow the charge to go through an it was dropped off.

My main concern here is in three parts; 1st the account that I have asked 6 times to be closed is obviously still open, and trying to make charges to my account. 2nd I still have not received my refund of $122.91 even though I have followed their company policy of returning their merchandise which is stated on their own paper work to take 4 weeks to receive monies back. I have sent their product back to them on 10/10/2013; even though in their e-mail they stated that I could keep the products and still receive the refund with their compliments, from a company representative that responded back to your company in the resolution e-mail. Finally the fact that I had to close my checking account that was linked to that property for bills and misc items. I had to personally go and close a account be reissued a new debit card, contact all my billing people and update the new info to them so that my bills could be paid.

I feel that I have done way to may things and altered my life and schedule in order to have an account closed and a refund of $122.91 returned to me. This is almost ridiculous of the steps I have to jump through in order to close an account and receive such a small amount of a refund. Since I have gone this far I might as well get my money back because I do not have the product to justify losing the amount of $122.91.

I would like a check mailed to my current address in the amount of $122.91 and to have this account finally close once and for all. I do not wish to give out my new debit information because of the lack of concern from this company to resolve any issues that they might face.

Thank you and I look forward to resolving this in a timely matter, I have been trying to resolve this issue with this company since 09/21/2013

Review: I called several times to report a charge on my credit was not mine and no one ever returned my calls or emails.

I was illegally billed for a product that I never purchased. I never even heard of this place until I saw it on my credit. I have called several times and nobody ever returned my calls or emails. I am rejecting this response because I do not understand the language used by the company. While they put forth the claim that I opened this account (false), they don't provide any information to validate their claim (like what address they are talking about, a signature from me, etc.). Then they go on to say that that the file is closed. What is really going on here? What kind of proof is there that this isn't going to be reopened or that it's really off my file? They make it seem like the collection agency is stopping the collection, but they aren't? I don't understand where this leaves me.

Review: Failure to honor my request to terminate my account.

On Aug 6th, 2014 I sent a written request via email which was acknowledged through an automated response as well as an email from one of their customer service representatives. Instead of closing my account they converted it to a Member Choice account and said I would no longer need to respond to Director's Selection notifications and shipments would not be automatically shipped to my house at my expense.

It's now 60 days later and I still am receiving the Director's Selection notifications and I've sent another written request as of 10/8/2014 to cancel all services under my name permanently.

This company has continuously manipulated data in their records in an attempt to recover money for goods not delivered. I currently have a collection account for $60 on my credit report from [redacted] Acquisitions LLC on behalf of Columbia House DVD Club who's parent company is Direct Brands, Inc. for which I have no record of nor have I received any goods to substantiate the claim. When I inquired about the account history to try and review the transactions they claimed I owed the $60 for, their own website showed that I had "No Account History".

This company seems to utilize unfair business practices to manipulate individuals credit reports to generate unearned revenue and I believe that it needs to be stopped.

Please let me know if you can help me!

Thank you!!!Desired Settlement: I have two simple requests:

1. I'm requesting is that my account and any and all services offered under my name by Direct Brands, Inc. and its subsidiary Columbia House are closed permanently.
