This is an account of events associated with complaint #*** lodged by *** *** ***.I received a phone call from this member about cancelling his membershipHe stated that he filled out our cancellation form and he just wanted to follow up to make sure that we received itWhen I was
processing his cancellation request originally, I noticed that he signed a one-year agreement with us and the only way to get out of the one year deal is if you move more than miles from where you were when you originally signed upI had the associate who signed him up contact him to make him aware of thisWhen he called, the member stated that he could not speak at the moment and would call backWhen the associate didn’t hear back from the member, he tried calling him again but he did not answer and his voicemail was fullA few weeks later is when I received the call from the member inquiring about his cancellation statusWhen I explained the situation to him he immediately flipped out and started cursing at meHe stated that he signed no such contract and when I told him that I had the contract in front of me he hung up on me.I am not sure why he is arguing this when clearly he signed this contract with usIf he has something else that is different from what we have I am more than happy to look at itI was not able to convey anything to him because he would not stop yelling and cursing at me.I’ve attached all documentation necessary for this caseIf there is anything else needed, please feel free to contact me

At the time of the request in June, Golds chose not to honor the terms of the contract as it was presented to me and confirmed in an email by Christian M*** (see attached) They took no action to remedy the situation until the Revdex.com was involved I also dispute Golds' account of the situation regarding my wife's membershipWhen I signed up in Sept2015, MrM*** told me I could sign my wife up for a free trial and nothing would be charged if I canceled during the trial periodI emailed MrM*** to cancel her trial, which he had told me would fulfill the requirement to cancel "in writing." I thought the matter was closedWhen I tried to cancel my membership in June, I did not list my wife under "other family members that would like to cancel at this time," because I was not aware there was an active accountLikewise, the balance on her account occurred when I updated my payment method in JuneI did not attempt to update hers because I wasn't aware it existedWe did not find out of her account's continued existence until early September when we received a letter threatening to send us to collections Given MrM***'s misleading statements, the fact that I followed his instructions to cancel my wife's membership during the free trial period, and the fact that Golds' own records would verify that my wife never used the gym's services during the entirety of the year contract, we would like a refund of the full amount we have paid on her contract However, we would be willing to accept a refund of $***, the amount my wife was forced to pay in September to prevent the account from going to collections.Regards,*** ***

We are following up on a complaint filed 1/29/by *** ***Upon researching the history of *** ***s membership we have found that *** contacted our establishment on November 16, and spoke with our General Manager *** to which *** abruptly ended the conversation by
hanging up on *** On December 28, *** spoke with *** the Club manager about cancelling her membership and that she had tried to do so beforeSince *** inquiry was logged on November 16, *** was going to take into account the date of the first inquiry for cancellation however *** would be responsible for December and was asked to send a letter by mail as confirmation as required according to her agreement*** proceeded to be irate and also hung up on ***Recently *** was contacted in regards to payments that had not gone through for her membership to which prompted this complaintReading the statement filed by *** *** Gold's Gym was not aware of any inconvenience due ti illness in cancelling the membershipWhen told the proper ways to cancel the membership our answers were met with hostility and an immediate close of communication without allowing Gold's Gym to further seek out an amenable agreement between us and *** ***In response to this complaint and further learning of the difficulties of the *** ***'s predicament Gold's Gym is willing to waive *** ***'s balance and cancel her membership backdated to her original requestany notices in regards to payments owed may be disregarded

I was not sent my contract when signing, was also not provided the "full" agreement when signingI look at my bank account this month and saw that there was an extra chargeI was told that this is a yearly membership feeWhat do I pay a month for? The person I talked to on the phone said that this was also to lock in your price for the next monthsA) my contract is up in October (they charge everyone this on Feb regardless of when you sign your contract) and B) What if there is NO price change or the price increase is less than $totalI'm not given an option to pay an additional fee to lock in the priceC) if I decide to not renew my contract will they reimburse me the paid monies for a month duration of a price lockin? That would mean I would be owed left on my "price lockin"This does not seem right and when I went to complain there were several other folks standing in line to complain about the same thing

cancelled my membership because I was moving, they said everything was ok and that they would take care of it I had checked my credit several months later only to find that I had been reported for not paying my gold's gym member bill NOT HAPPY! called to try and resolve it and no good because I didn't get anything in writing when I cancelled my membership According to the person on the phone they where handling it and I didn't need to go in to cancelso this in my opinion is a negative star mark when it affects your credit

Over the last year, we have documentation of different payments from Feb, July and Sept which were declined to insufficient funds. they were attempted another time each during those months to get payment, along with their late fees during those months. *** scheduled payment date has
never been changed from the 28th, but due to the draft being declined during those months, payment was fulfilled on subsequent attempts in those same months. We do not change payment dates arbitrarily at Golds Gym. Thank you for your concernWe hope this satisfies your complaint

I do not agree with the statements made by Ms Glaeser As you can see from the attachments, she did in fact sign her contracts, she supplied a local address as well as an address in Staunton VA We always give the member the contracts so they can review them after they leave, if Ms
*** did not take hers with her, I cannot do anything about that I believe Ms *** is attempting to defraud this company If she truely was living at a residence over miles from the facility, and wanted to be able to cxl at any time, we have memberships that are month to month, but they are a higher amount per month as the member is not committing to a contract term It does not make any business sence why we would give a member a dicounted rate for a term membership and they can cancel at any time Every out of town guest would sign up for a membership this way as they would get the lowest price and not have any commitment to pay.
Against my better judgement I will allow Ms *** to cancel her contract but she must first be in good standing to do so She will have to pay any amounts that are past due on her membership contract as well as the $cancellation fee for both her membership contract as well as her Personal Trianing contract

This gym on East Washington Street is the most disgusting gym I've ever been toFor the last two years, it was the only place near my house so I suffered through itLuckily, there's a new gym that I can switch to on Washington StreetNot only were they recently in the news for having a peeping Tom in the tanning area (which, by the way, leaves much to be desiredThe beds are from the 90's and the bulbs are ancient)The staff is downright rude and unattentiveOnce, I had an issue with a credit card being compromised while on vacationTwo days later, I was contacted by a credit bureau saying they were collecting a debt since they couldn't process paymentSeriously? Talk about a breakdown in processesWhen I asked to speak to the manager, the staff member absentmindedly looked at me and said "NoShe's not here and she wouldn't care anyways" WowThey'll also try to sneak a charge in here and there and call it "an annual dues guarantee rate lock" So, watch out for thatAsk about it before you sign the contractThe equipment is dirty and outdated to bootTrust me, just pay a little extra and go somewhere elseThis place is a catch all for the ghetto East Side

*** *** As previously noted, I was never provided with any information regarding this day cancellation notice none sense, I was placed on the opposite side of a computer unable to see the screen and told that I could cancel at any point-and was told to sign electronically accepting s membership and a liability form. Additionally, when I cancelled my gym card was taken from me so I could not use this supposed last month that've would theoretically be paying for. Further more I never changed my payment methodThey cancelled the payments that day and are trying to charge me additional fees for itI did some research on the business and they have a of star rating becaus apparently they do this to many peopleWhat they are doing is illegal and I do not feel that I owe them a dime. The business has not contacted me since I have contacted the Revdex.comThis however, is not for lack of tryingI emailed their corporate, their General manager and their wanna be "manager of golds gym"All of which were clueless and bumbling and provided no responses -none except their little minion Christian- who told me what I will and will not do and not what he could donor me as the customer.

I arrived at Gold's Gym on Jefferson Davis Highway at 4:a.monly to find that it has not opened on time for the third day in a rowWith renewed vigor for working out--having spent the last few months losing weight by changing my eating habits--I decided to recommit to working outMy impetus for signing the contract with Gold's Gym was based on being able to get in and out of the gym early enough to make it to work on time during the week, and early enough to jump start my days on the weekendTaking drives over to the facility only to find it closed when, upon signing my contract, I understood it would be open, is unacceptableI want to cancel my membership with 100% reimbursement of all funds collected from me by Gold's GymThis is truly an unacceptable way to run a business
