with Ms. [redacted] on March 1st, 2016. However, our representative was unable to confirm whom we believed to be Ms. [redacted]’s identity on March 1st, 2016. Thus, our company policy and federal law mandates the following: All representatives must first aim to verify customer identities by confirming the last four digits of their social security number. If the last four digits cannot be confirmed, representatives must aim to confirm the customer’s date of birth or street address if applicable for identification purposes.   Unfortunately our representative was unable to confirm Ms. [redacted]’s identity on the call. At this time we cannot disclose further information to Ms. [redacted] other than to confirm that there will be no further contact to the number ([redacted] from Halsted Financial Services, LLC. 26th, 2015 and researched our notes/call logs in this matter.
Our office was able to locate the account and will honor the consumer's request to cease collection activity on it. Per company policy, when a complaint of this nature is received, our office acknowledges the consumer's concern and issues a request for original documentation. These requests are submitted immediately, however being that we are at the mercy of the current creditor to supply these documents in a timely manner, we apologize in advance for the delay.
At this time the account has been placed in a "cease & desist" status until we are able to provide Ms. [redacted] with the documents she is requesting. There will be no further collection activity from Halsted Financial Services, LLC regarding this account.

At this time we encourage Ms. [redacted] to forward any release letter or documentation that states she is no longer liable for the account in question. This way we can notify the current creditor to update any and all records.
Regarding Ms. [redacted]'s concern about the legitimacy of our company, Halsted Financial Services, LLC is a licensed Illinois collection agency. Our office is licensed to collect in the state of Ohio where the consumer resides.

I would like to have documentation stating that this debt is mine. If there is legal documentation that I can receive, that satisfies my concerns, and shows that there is indeed a debt in need of payment, then I will pay it. However, I was denied such documentation. I do not recall making such a debt and to pay it without proof is foolish. Please, send me the proper documents, that's all I ask! Not an email that just has my name and a total. And yes, I am concerned about the legitimacy of the company and for the rep to respond with "we are a licensed Illinois collection agency" proves nothing. The Halsted Facebook page as well as the Halsted website both seem very fake they are also nonexistent on LinkedIn. Other collection agencies at least have working websites and have news and updates on their Facebook pages. Halsted has posted hundreds of quotes with no postings about the actual company on their FB page. It seems too scary and with all the scams that go on, you can surely see my concern.

During my assessment of this complaint filed on June 10th, 2017, it appears that our office did contact Mr. [redacted] on one or more occasion(s). Complaints of this nature are very serious, and are not taken lightly.    Halsted Financial Services, LLC maintains full compliance with the FDCPA, specifically Section 805 and 807, pertaining to communicating with the right party and preventing false or misleading tactics.  Prior to discussing any matter in our office with a consumer, it is imperative that we confirm that we are communicating with the proper party.  Unfortunately, when Mr. [redacted] contacted our office we were unable to confirm that we were indeed speaking with Mr. [redacted].  Thus, we were unable to respond to his request.   Going forward, there will be no further communication to Mr. [redacted] from Halsted Financial Services, LLC.   I hope this addresses Mr. [redacted]’ concerns. Despite them claiming they can't find our number. The phone number that has been receiving the calls XXX-XXX-XXXX stopped getting the calls 7 days after we filed this complaint. So if it took filing a complaint to get the harassing to stop, I appreciate the help. We wanted the phone calls to stop and they finally have.

We would like to advise Mr. [redacted] that a request for original documentation was made on August 10th, 2016 to the current credit and we are still awaiting a response. Unfortunately our office is at the mercy of the current creditor to supply these documents in a timely fashion.   We understand Mr. [redacted]’s concerns and have ceased all communications in reference to this account. Unless we receive the original contract, there will be no further communication from Halsted Financial Services, LLC regarding this account. In the event that our office does not receive the requested documentation in thirty days from the date requested, this account will be closed and returned to the current creditor.   Regarding Mr. Dubinksy’s credit bureau report concern. Halsted Financial Services, LLC does not credit report to any of the credit bureaus.
