To Whom It May Concern;

We sincerely apologize for the issue Mr. [redacted]. It has always been our policy that we will not mount new tires and/or wheels a that were not purchased from us. This is posted on our website in our snow tire...

changeover section. We guarantee the lowest price on tires and wheels. We just need to be able to verify the price. We can get just about any tire and wheel as long as it isn't exclusive to a retailer. We will be sure to address the price matching issue with the store.
Sincerely,
Rich A[redacted]

I apologize I had misunderstood the store manager 2 wheels were mentioned at the store and 2 were mentioned after [redacted] left. The store manager at the time had offered to have the wheels buffed because the damage on the 2 wheels was so shallow. At this point in the interest of resolving we will gladly have all 4 wheel buffered for [redacted] or we can refund him $400.00 for the repair of the wheels whichever he prefers.
Sincerely,

Town Fair Tire

Town Fair Tires (TFT) is absolutely horrible on many levels. I bought tires from TFT and got a flat one day. I'm pretty strong and athletic, but when I changed the flat, I needed a few guys to assist. (the lugs were on so tight). Eventually I changed the tire and went to TFT to get a new one. 1. They first said "they only have this tire", and it was the higher priced one. 2. They then found another avg priced one for me, but didn't want to really sell that one. 3. I was first in line, had one tire to change, and 5-6 people came in after me and left before me. 4. I asked for a quote for spring tires and they said to come back in the spring, the prices may be different. (I just wanted an estimate to get an idea). 5. When I asked for an estimate a 2nd time, he told me at 100mph some prices verbally. 6. I told him I will go somewhere else then. He then used his system to print off low, med, high end prices for my reference. What a suprise. 7. I asked to have my tires rotated and he said "I guess so". NICE Customer service???? Not 8. I told him the lugs were tight on the one tire I changed by hand, and he said "well you will have to bring it to an Auto Shop, we don't want to have problems with the tire then you will need your car towed. **.. TFT is a tire shop, they can't get tires off the car that they put on. 9. As I was sitting in the waiting room, you can tell he just Pressured People, and NOT once did he look anyone in the eyes when talking with them. 10. I will never go back to any TFT ever. They are worse than used car salesmen and pray on people's tire hardships and/or lack of knowledge. PLEASE DON'T GO TO TOWN FAIR TIRE. 11. Look at the ratings on Revdex.com. 92 entries have been put in. 89 complaints and 3 negative reviews.

I had found some great tires for my car, [redacted]. Town Fair Tire showed a good price on their web page, so I sent my wife to pick them up. Now, this is the third time that Town Fair tried to charge a higher price in store than they list on their web page, so the pattern says that they are clearly doing a bait and switch. They charged my wife $10 a tire more than their web-page prices. Still, they claim to have an after-sale lowest-price guarantee, so this should be fixable, right?
So, I went to the store to pick up my tires, and asked about the lowest-price guarantee, hoping to at least get them to honor their own prices. The person helping me was giving me a hard time about this, saying things like my wife wanting the tires quickly and that they had to get them from another dealer, blah, blah, so the price was higher and despite what was printed on the receipt, he didn't think that they should give me their own lower price. None of this was said to my wife when she simply went into the store and ordered tires.
After 20 minutes of arguing with this guy, I finally just wanted to get out of there, so I told him that I was giving up and that he had won. I was going to pay the price, not ask them to honor their lowest-price guarantee and simply write reviews on a few consumer web sites. Surprisingly, rather than accepting his win graciously, he now started a new argument that he was going to honor the price after all. I didn't want to do that any more, I just wanted the tires on my car and the right to tell people about the bait and switch. The manager got involved, and all I wanted him to do was to tell his staff to just put the tires on the car and let me go away. I did NOT want to have to tell this tale blow by blow, but this guy chewed up another 20 minutes of my time, again not wanting me to just get the tires on the car, but now that they knew I was going to review their policies, wanted to argue longer and longer, making me later and later getting back to work. It is clear that they do NOT listen to what their customers say or want.
The bigger issue is the bait and switch policy. This is the third time the store tried to charge a higher retail price than their web page, although in the other cases, I knew the web page price, had a printout of it, so they didn't complete the bait and switch. My wife didn't know the web price, so they gouged her the measly $20 for two tires.
If you do business with Town Fair, find a different store than West Hartford, and go to the web page first, look up the tires by brand and then scroll down to find your size, or the best prices do NOT show up. Then, print out the price and do not fall for their bait and switch pricing. And if anyone from Town Fair corporate read this, please do NOT contact me about this, as I do NOT want to have to spend any more time. Although I have 3 vehicles with all 4 tires bought from Town Fair, to the tune of about $1800 including all fees and taxes, I will NOT be doing any more business with a bait and switch company that wants to turn customer contact in an argument.

Bought a car new, after 30k miles replaced tires with them because after multiple alignments it wouldn't stop shaking, shaking continued with new tires for 20k miles until finally they noticed one rim was bent. So I brought it in with a spare rim and had them swap it out, got in the car and heard thumping like a rock as soon as I moved the car. A nice bolt in the tire from them, immediately I turned around brought it back and was told "We don't do tire repairs or plugs". It says on the website "Free tire repair". Drove down to auto zone got a plug, pulled over and did it myself.

We sincerely apologize for the Mr. [redacted] confusion on our snow tire change over policy. The snow tire change over itself is completely free as advertised. It included mounting and demount the tire on and off the wheel and the tire and wheel assembly on and off of the vehicle. The service does...

not include balancing or valve stems. We offer a discounted price to our returning customers of $40.00 for the balancing and valve stems on all 4 tires. Though recommended this services is not mandatory. The store should have presented this as an option we apologize if this wasn't the case and we will be sure to address this with the store. At this point we will gladly refund Mr. [redacted] for the services. Please have him contact me at [redacted] ext. [redacted] to make arrangements for the refund.Sincerely,

[redacted],
Thanks for the reply! I am glad that you are trying to resolve this issue and take a friendly first step. I would like to clarify a few things that you mentioned.
My guy friend who picked up the key didn't speak English. When he went to the store, he put us on the phone with the staff to make sure he was allowed pick the key from the staff. On the phone, we were not told anything that "the car needed to be moved otherwise it would be towed." If he/she thought "the car needed to be moved otherwise it would be towed," the staff was fully aware that the car was parked in a wrong place by him/her.
I sent in the car not because I ran over something. I sent in a normal car on Jan 3 running with a spare tire, I noticed your staff drove my car from the front of the store to the big back yard, and later the car was back to the front. Later the staff drove to the entrance of your wheel alignment garage. Then I left the store, afterwards, someone drove it to final spot where the car was towed. So your staff drove it several times that day, and nobody said it was malfunctioning.
The difference was huge after I got back my car from the towing company. The noise was loud because the emission didn't go through muffler any more after the catalytic converter ruptured and dropped off. I have provided photos for you in the attachment. When I was driving, there was significantly more vibration.
Before I sent in the car for new tire replacement, I asked [redacted] to replace the broken tire with spare tire. I was driving on the spare tire for about 30 miles before Town Fair Tire replaced with new tire. I have witness sitting in my car on the spare tire to prove that the car had no problem at all before being towed.
On January 5 (Monday), my female friend did take my car back to the same Town Fair Tire store to troubleshoot. The staff did guess it might be due to the wheel. Later she took it to two mechanic shop, neither said it was a problem of the wheel, but both pointing to the broken and dropped off catalytic converter. It is like a falling tree trunk after a storm. Mechanics thought it must result from a hard hit and needed to be replaced. The technician at the [redacted] dealer told me that catalytic converter could last much longer than the car's current age and mileage unless there is a major impact.
I believe that Town Fair Tire took good care of my car in the repairing process, but the inappropriate towing damaged my car. However I am not in the position to speak to the towing company directly because it was not me parking the car in the wrong place.
Trust me. I am a reasonable and considerate person. I am not asking Town Fair Tire to compensate for loss of time in finding my car, sending car to mechanics, and going back to Town Fair Tire to communicate with the staff. And I am not asking for compensation for loss of use of my car and inconvenience to my friend after I borrowed her car. She is 8 month into her pregnancy. I was terribly worried when she was driving this trembling car to mechanic shops on a snowy day, walking on the snow into the shops, and smelling the leaked uncleaned emission.
I am asking for just the material loss resulting from the towing: the catalytic converter replacement and the towing fee. The towing fee is $281.83 and I have provided the receipt. I haven't done the catalytic converter replacement yet but I got quote from [redacted]: about $800. And I have another quote from one mechnic shop that I went, which is almost $900. Both numbers including parts, labor, and taxes. Thanks!
I heard good things about Town Fair Tire and that was why I went to your store. I was cooperative and patient on January 3, while waiting for the tire replacement, despite of two delays in the expected finishing time. I wish that day the service had not been delayed, or been delayed just once, then all things afterwards could have been avoided. I believe things that happened were not what you meant. That's why I sincerely wanted to work with you to resolve this issue.

To Whom It May Concern;
We are aware of this issue. We have explained to Mr. [redacted] that the associate was mistaken that it is not state law in [redacted] only [redacted]. However it is against federal law to disable a working TPMS system in any...

way. Installing wheels without sensors is considered disabling by the NHTSA which was explained to Mr. [redacted]. Though we stand behind our services 100% we cannot violate Federal law and expose ourselves to the liability. At this point in the interest of coming to an amicable resolution we can cover half of the cost of sensors and install them at no charge or we can cover 2 changeovers at another shop that is willing to break the law.Sincerely,

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:
I responded through the Better Business email, requesting a specific resolution from Town Fair Tire.  I received no communication from Town Fair.  I have now had to spend another hour on this matter.
I purchase four tires from Town Fair.  Free flat repair was included with all four tires.  I wish to receive my $7.95 back, plus free tire repair on all four tires for as long as those tires last.  I don't want to TALK with anyone from Town Fair.  I don't want to visit the Town Fair store and have to deal with their employees.  You can send the promised letter to me in the mail AND the refund check.  I would like to review the letter before you just send it out.
this time I won't drop my complaint until the letter and check are in hand.
I would also like to be compensated in some way for all of the time that I have spent to resolve this, in particular the time I've spent filing the second complaint due to the fact that Town Fair did not
follow through on the resolution that it offered to me.
Sincerely,

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:
As mentioned in my previous messages, the company has made no attempt to resolve my complaint, except for one vaguely worded message that appears to offer me the opportunity to exchange one set of the tires I bought with a set of cheaper tires with no compensation for the difference in value. That is neither attempting to resolve my complaint, nor is it a reasonable offer.
Sincerely,[redacted]
