July of 2015. I used my "complimentary" personal training session,
met with a trainer/manager, and was convinced to sign a personal training
membership. I...

at first declined, because I am only available for sessions early
in the morning. I was verbally assured the gym had a personal trainer available
for me. On my third session, no personal trainer met me at my agreed time. I
was then told the trainer quit. I was not informed. I called the manager subsequently.
No return call was made. I called several more times, both local and corporate
offices, and I was assured by the manager that they would provide a trainer at
the agreed time. No contact was made with me for an extended time. I negotiated
with the manager after a week of discussion over the phone, that my personal
trainer contract would be cancelled without penalty fee, and I could use the
remainder of the sessions I had paid for. After a month, I received another
bill for training sessions. I am now being told by the corporate office that I
owe $250 to cancel my agreement. The local site is not helping. The customer
service at this location has been egregious. I ask the Revdex.com to help me. I was
made verbal promises that have not been upheld, and I am being penalized for
this company's deficiencies. In-Shape Lodi Personal Trainers are stealing my
money. I hope the Revdex.com can arbitrate.Resolution:In-Shape Health Clubs has

Review: My daughter is a marathon runner and she and I go to the In-Shape Fit in Manteca at four o'clock in the morning and work on the treadmill. We do not walk but put the height up to 15 and speed on 5 or 5.2 for a hour. They have five big fans in the building and only one runs all the time but at the area of the weight machines. The one by the treadmills does not work at all now and when it did work it was on a timer in which was on probably a minute and off longer than on. The one next to this one is on a timer but we don't feel it. Before we finish on the treadmills we are soaked in sweat. I have written the headquarters several times and have talked to the manager at In-Shape Manteca but nothing as been done about the fans. My daughter has several times had to stop because she felt like she was going to pass out because of the heat. I stop every ten minutes to take a drink of water. The last two times I wrote headquarters they never tried to get in touch with me about it and just turned the fan completely off. This morning there was fifteen other people using the treadmills and all of them were just walking and not working out like my daughter and I so they were not as hot and sweaty like us. Please can you do anything about this to help us? I would not recommend this health club to anyone.Desired Settlement: Fix the big fans and have them on all the time and not just on for one minute and off for ten minutes. Also have the fans blowing full blast like the one by the weight machines. Don't void my emails but respond to them. I am a customer.

I am rejecting this response because: The temperature at the gym has not been fixed as of Friday, March 27, 2015. My daughter's shirt was in fact wetter than before. My shirt was about the same. It can become a health hazard because when we sweat so much on the treadmills and then go to the weight machines the air is blowing at full power and it is cool over there. When we get into the car with our wet shirts the car seat is also cool to us. That is not good. I don't know still why they will not turn the air full power over the treadmills and put the air on a timer where the weight machines are located. I did receive calls from the manager of the gym and corporate office. I was told since my daughter is a marathon runner she should be used to the hot but I am not a marathon runner and I can't get used to it.

I am rejecting this response because: Yes, I know I can work out any where's at the gym, but I do cardio and the big fans don't work in that air. The only place they run, and I told [redacted], is where the weight machines are located. I do little weight machines. I have tried to do the treadmill in another row but it is just as hot there because the fans are working anywhere around there. Again, the only fan that works and blows cool air is by the weight machines not cardio.

The fans may be on more or less in other areas of the gym to adjust the temperature as a result. A facility technician verified that the fans and air-condition unit in our cardio theater are working properly. I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to my concern, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

The fan or air conditioner by the treadmills is not working properly and not like they used to. You were able to hear them go on and off and notice the thing tied to it blow and you can't now. I am tired of explaining this to you and know you will not do anything about it probably because I am a woman. Like a typical man you will not listen to a woman.

Review: First and foremost this gym location is not up to health and safety standards. I have filed complaints with osha and the city in regard to not cleaning pools hot tub and causing health issue and rashes to member brave enough to step into these bacteria magnets.

Management refuses to correct it and now they are extorting my banking information by sending charges over outrageous prices like 49.99 or 174.99 and when they can't get into my bank the continue even after it contacted them and stopped auto payments because they take randomly what they please. You call corporate and they beat around the bush they lie to you and threaten to ruin your credit if you don't pay. I have 4 charges from Inshape on my chase card for 174.99 that got declined three times, on the fourth attempt they randomly got in and over drafted my account several times leaving me with be unpaid bills on my end becaus they took my money out of my account illegally. Now chase is charging me 160 dollars in overdraft fees and charges due to in shape.

I have now been placed into check system

By the bank over this. I'm need someone to come on and control this issue before I get a lawyer and file for a class action lawsuit.Desired Settlement: I want my account to be deactivated and I want my balance that they say I owe them to be fixed. I've been trying to tell Inshape for 90 days now that if they can't fix t I'm cancelling. They fixed nothing's And illegally took money from my account without authorization.

Review: I added kids care to my gym account on March 24th. When I added it I was asked if I wanted to set up auto-payment and I clearly said no since I had problems with In-Shape incorrectly removing funds from my account in the past. On the 5th I found out In-shape auto-drafted funds from the checking account I used when I originally set up my membership without my permission or acknowledgement. It has been over a year since I had auto-pay removed and was making monthly payments. The bank account set up is an account hardly used so I was charged $60 for insufficient funds fees. I called In-Shape and was rudely informed that I authorized the auto-pay on the 28th even though I NEVER spoke with any one regarding this. I tried explaining this to the women I spoke with and I was informed an investigation would be opened. I requested a supervisor and suddenly the women was unable to hear me and she hung up on me. It's been more than a week and I have not heard back from In-Shape regarding this "investigation". I'm now considering legal actions since its considered fraud to remove funds from a person account without authorization. Also, I was charged $74 for my membership when it should only be $64.Desired Settlement: I was charged $60 in bank fees from In-Shape charging my membership to an account that was no longer in use. I need to be either a) credited back for the $60 bank fees or b) have my In-Shape membership reflect a balance due to these fees.

Review: The manager of the center in Bakersfield CA on Coffee RD. and one of the sales representatives that are in charge of selling memberships gave us a verbal agreement that our membership would not have the contracted duration of 36 months and that we could opt out after a few months with no cancellation fees because we were moving from the area. They both stated that this would be very easy and that it would not be a problem. When time came that we needed to end our membership they would not keep their verbal agreement and tried to blackmail us into paying both the cancellation fee and more membership.We were given corporate's number to contact, and were told by them that they could work it out for us. When corporate was called we were given that same treatment and could not speak with anyone in charge about the contractual issue. They gave us the same repeated lines that they are given. There is no upper level contact information or customer service beyond this. They make cancellation impossible and broke a verbal agreement, lying right to our faces about the businesses practices and contracts. They verified written proof of our verbal contract from notes taken by the sales rep. This did not change anything they said and we have yet to hear back from them.Desired Settlement: Refund if I am billed for my next month. Some form of written verification of my membership cancellation and hopefully some sort of apology.
