Complaint Number:? [redacted] Consumer Name: [redacted] ? We are in receipt of the consumer complaint filed by Ms[redacted] in connection with her dissatisfaction with a Background Report she ordered on July 21, on the Intelius website ? Intelius is an online public information
websiteThe information we provide is gathered from public records and publicly available information via local, state, federal and other agenciesThis data is compiled into a comprehensive public record search that Intelius maintains with active updates from its sourcesHowever, it is important to note that not all states or every county within each state provides digital access to its records and therefore some records may be incomplete ? The report that Ms[redacted] purchased included her search subject’s contact, information, including address, email, phone, family members and employment historyIn addition, a Background report will provide criminal, civil and marital history, if the information is available from the state in which the individual resides or if the individual has this information to reportIn this instance Ms[redacted] purchased a background report for the State of Oklahoma and no criminal information appeared in her reportHowever, a Nationwide Criminal Record Search of her subject’s name provides additional criminal record activity in state other than Oklahoma ? The Terms of Service which Ms[redacted] agreed to when she purchased her report specifically states that all report purchases are non-refundable and that users “should not assume that the data available through these Services include a complete or accurate history of any person's criminal or civil background or other informationThe data contained in the databases used by the Services have been compiled from publicly available information (such as from court records, phone directories, social networks, business websites, and other public sources) and other proprietary sources for the specific purposes of locating individuals and/or providing general background information about individualsWE HAVE NOT VERIFIED THE DATA OR INFORMATION AVAILABLE THROUGH THE SERVICES AND DO NOT WARRANT ITS ACCURACY, LEGITIMACY, TIMELINESS, LEGALITY OR COMPLETENESSANY DATA OR INFORMATION PURCHASED FROM US VIA THE SERVICES IS PROVIDED "AS IS," WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, OR IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.” ? Per Ms[redacted]’s request, I have cancelled her Intelius account? This information should successfully resolve Ms[redacted]’s complaintShould your office or Ms[redacted] have any questions or need additional information, please feel free to contact me at [redacted]@intelius.com ? Sincerely, ? Tara M[redacted] SrIP & Marketing Compliance Manager www.intelius.com ? ?

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:   I will contact the authorities and likely see you in court...thanks for the suggestion
Sincerely,
[redacted]

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:Intelius states on their website that they will provide records that are publicly available.  Nowhere do I see on their policy that there is no guarantee of this.  I was able to easily access public court records on the Cook County court docket, yet the report I ordered from Intelius provided no information regarding this court case, or even that there was ever a court case for the search I submitted.  Their service is fraudulent in that it provides none of the information it states it will provide.  Since I am easily able to find this info elsewhere on the world wide web, Intelius should be held accountable for not delivering what they say their service offers.  I expect a FULL refund.Sincerely,
[redacted]

Intelius customers are presented with a two tier pricing structure when purchasing reports on the Intelius website.  They have the option of paying the full price, or a discounted promotional price which includes a 7-Day Pass of the Intelius Premier Plus Membership.  When a customer...

selects the promotional price, they are presented the benefits of the membership and the terms and conditions of the offer, including billing.  The billing details are reiterated on each page during the purchase process.  By choosing to proceed with the purchase at the promotional price, the customer agrees to the terms and conditions of the promotional offer. In this case, the promotional offer was accepted and the Intelius Premier Plus 7-Day Pass was activated.  As requested, the Intelius Premier Plus Membership was canceled on 12/28/2016.  As stated within the Terms and Conditions which Ms. [redacted] agreed to during her report purchase, Intelius has a no refund policy.  However, as a courtesy a Customer Care agent refunded the charge of $32.47 for the Intelius Premier Plus Membership on 12/28/2016.  The refund will appear on Ms. [redacted]’s statement in one of the next two billing cycles, depending on the closing date.  No future membership charges will occur. We appreciate your cooperation in resolving this matter and apologize for any inconvenience.

Complaint# [redacted] Consumer: [redacted]   We are in receipt of the consumer complaint filed by Ms. [redacted] in connection with Intelius’ Premier Membership.   Intelius provides clear disclosures within the report purchase process of the Premier membership offer.  Below, I have...

outlined the process and various places in which Intelius notified Ms. [redacted] of the membership offer and details.   On April 20, 2017, Ms. [redacted] created an Intelius account purchased a Social Network Search in the amount of $9.95. After Ms. [redacted] had completed her report purchase, she was offered a monthly Intelius Premier membership in the amount of $19.95.  Ms. [redacted] was notified of this offer after she had completed her purchase and was required to manually enter her email address and click on the “Yes” button to select the offer or to click on the “No” button to decline. The Offer Details specifically notified her of the membership terms, including that her credit or debit card would be charged $19.95 each month, as well as instructions on how to cancel her membership. Links to the Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions were included in the offer page. A copy of the offer Ms. [redacted] accepted is attached for your review.   The “Automatic Renewal Program” section located under the “Paid Services” portion of the Terms of Service states:   “Upon your acceptance of an offer for the purchase of any subscription-based Paid Services, you will be enrolled in our automatic renewal program to help ensure that there is no interruption in your access to such Paid Services. Under this program, you authorize us to automatically renew your subscription at the end of the term of the subscription you purchased, and each subsequent term, for the same term length of the subscription you initially purchased (unless otherwise stated in the offer you accepted). Unless you change your renewal status as described below, at the time of each such renewal you authorize us to charge your designated Payment Method at the then-current, non-promotional price (unless otherwise stated in the offer you accepted) for the renewal of your subscription. If you no longer want to be enrolled in our automatic renewal program, you can change your renewal status at any time by completing the following steps:   ·         Intelius.com – cancelling your membership on the My Account portion of the Intelius.com Website or by calling (888) 445-2727.   Please note that completing these steps will only stop future automatic renewals of your subscription and will not impact any automatic renewals that occurred prior to the date that you completed these steps.”   Shortly after her report purchase, Ms. [redacted] would have received a receipt confirmation email sent to the email address associated with her Intelius account. This email contained the amount Ms. [redacted] paid for her report and the Intelius Premier membership terms and conditions and instructions on how to cancel her membership.   According to our records, Ms. [redacted] contacted us on September 1, 2017 regarding her membership and requested a cancellation and refund of her account. Per the Terms of Service, Intelius has a no refund policy. However, as a matter of customer courtesy, a customer care agent refunded Ms. [redacted]’s her last membership fee in the amount of $19.95 and removed her from the Premier Membership program. I have provided Ms. [redacted] with an additional refund of three months of membership fees in the amount of $59.85 (3 x $19.95). Ms. [redacted] of should note these refunds on her account within the next 30 days depending on her financial institution’s billing cycle and internal refund policy. We are unable to provide Ms. [redacted] with any additional refunds.   This information should successfully resolve Ms. [redacted]'s complaint. Should your office or Ms. [redacted] have any questions or need additional information, please feel free to contact me at [email protected].   Sincerely,   Tara M[redacted] Sr. IP & Marketing Compliance Manager www.intelius.com

Complaint # [redacted] Consumer:  [redacted]   We are in receipt of the consumer complaint filed by Mr. [redacted] in connection with a Background Report he conducted on the Intelius website on June 27, 2017.   Intelius customers are presented with a two-tier pricing structure when...

purchasing reports on the Intelius website. Each offer includes the standard full one-time purchase price and a second discounted report price plus a one-week trial of the Intelius Premier Plus membership. If the user elects to continue with their selected report type but does not wish to continue the Premier Plus membership they are instructed to cancel the Premier Plus membership within the first 7 days and they will only be charged $7.95 (plus applicable taxes) for the Premier Plus trial membership. However, if the user does not cancel, the member is enrolled in the Premier Plus membership and their credit card will be charged a monthly fee of $29.95 (plus applicable taxes) going forward.   Mr. [redacted] was notified of this offer and trial membership when he selected his report type and again on the payment information page. Additionally, he was required to manually select a checkbox on the payment information page before he could complete his report purchase that specifically notified him of the offer and the membership terms, including that his credit or debit card would be charged $29.95 (plus applicable taxes) if he did not cancel his 7 day trial membership, a phone number to cancel his membership, that his membership benefits would continue through the last month for which he paid and that there are no refunds or partial month credits. Mr. [redacted] was presented with language in the same checkbox that by clicking the button to purchase, he agreed to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy (with hyperlinks to each).   Intelius does not currently offer membership subscriptions that include all report types. The Premium Plus Membership includes unlimited People Search reports and one monthly Background Report. Background Reports includes everything in People Search reports plus additional information such as criminal check, bankruptcies, lawsuits and marriage/divorces records for the specific state identified in the user’s original search query. The user is offered both prior to the completion of their report purchase and within the purchased report product, to broaden their search query and include add-on reports that include federal and nationwide record checks. Please see the attached copy of the report purchase and membership offer, report add-ons, the purchase page and the in-report federal and nationwide offers.   According to our records, Mr. [redacted] canceled his free trial within the initial 7 days and was only charged $7.95 plus applicable taxes. Per the Terms of Service Mr. [redacted] agreed to upon the completion of his purchase, Intelius has a no refund policy. However, as a matter of customer courtesy, I have provided a refund of the Premier Plus trial membership fee in the amount of $7.95 plus tax ($8.66 total). Mr. [redacted] should note this refund on his account within the next 7 to 10 days depending on his financial institution’s billing cycle and internal refund policy.   This information should successfully resolve Mr. [redacted]’s complaint. Should your office or Mr. [redacted] have any questions or need additional information, please feel free to contact me at [email protected].   Sincerely,   Tara M[redacted] Sr. IP & Marketing Compliance Manager www.intelius.com

Revdex.com:I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted].
If Intelius will credit my account for one Background Report with Federal & Nationwide County Criminal Check and Business People Search, this resolution is satisfactory to me.
Sincerely,

Managing personal information through the Intelius opt-out service is just one step in eliminating its availability. There are many other sites that may provide similar information found on our site. Public records sites, search engines, social networking sites and other online companies provide...

different levels of information about individuals. We have removed the requested information from the Intelius database, as well as affiliated sites. We recommend Ms. [redacted] review our privacy policy located on the Intelius website at https://www.intelius.com/privacy.php.Additionally, it is important to remember that the procedure to opt out is temporary.  Intelius is constantly updating their database with new public records.  It is possible that an individual may need to resubmit a request to opt out for any new records that may have been added to our database since their last opt out request.  While we are unable to anticipate how, when, or if information will reappear on our site, we will be more than happy to remove an individual’s information upon request.  We appreciate your cooperation in resolving this issue and apologize for any inconvenience.

As Mr. [redacted] has requested, a search credit for a Background Report with Federal and Nationwide County Criminal Check and Business People Search has been added to his account.  After logging into his account, Mr. [redacted] will find the search credit under “My Credits” which is located in the upper-right corner of the website. We appreciate your cooperation in resolving this matter and apologize for any inconvenience.

Revdex.com:I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. But the company should disclosed in their web ad about the physical count, meaning it would take two or three weeks instead of 2 to 4 days. Transparency is always important in every business. I am glad I received my refund, and I got it because the Revdex.com. Thanks!!Sincerely, [redacted]
