US Search solely collects and compiles the public records and publicly available information.  Local, state, and federal agencies make updates to public records.  The information can come from sources such as: marketing surveys, land deeds, catalog purchases, voter registrations, lawsuit...

filings, court records, magazine subscriptions, and address changes.We have removed the requested information from the US Search database, as well as affiliated sites.We recommend Ms. [redacted] review our privacy policy located on the US Search website at https://www.ussearch.com/about/privacy. Identity verification is an important step toward fraud prevention.  We don’t want anyone to remove records of other people.  Generally, we do require an individual’s identity to be verified prior to processing an opt-out.   To do this, we request that proof of identity be submitted along with the removal request.  Proof of identity can be a state issued ID card or driver's license.  When uploading, faxing, or mailing a copy of a driver's license, we require that the photo and the driver's license number be crossed out.  However, we do need to see the name, address, and date of birth to ensure that all information is removed from our database.  If an individual does not feel comfortable faxing us their driver’s license or other state issued identification, they can send a notarized statement of their identity.Additionally, it is important to remember that the procedure to opt out is temporary.  US Search is constantly updating its database with new public records.  It is possible that an individual may need to resubmit a request to opt out for any new records that may have been added to its database since their last opt out request.  While we are unable to anticipate how, when, or if information will reappear on our sites, we will be more than happy to remove an individual’s information upon request.  We appreciate your cooperation in resolving this issue and apologize for any inconvenience.

structure when purchasing reports on the Intelius website. Each offer includes the standard one-time purchase price and a second discounted report price plus a one-week trial of the Intelius Premier Plus membership. If the user elects to continue with their selected report type but does not wish to continue the Premier Plus membership they are instructed to cancel the Premier Plus membership within the first 7 days and they will only be charged $7.95 for the Premier Plus trial membership. However, if the user does not cancel, the member is enrolled in the Premier Plus membership and their credit card will be charged a monthly fee of $29.95 (plus applicable taxes) going forward.   According to our records, Ms. [redacted] selected a one-time purchase at the full standard report price of $4.95 on February 17, 2017. Had Ms. [redacted] selected the discounted price, her order would have included a 7-day trial in the Premier Plus membership and, if she didn’t wish to continue with the trial, a cancelation fee of $7.95 in addition to her original fee of $.95 for a total of $8.90. A copy of the offer Ms. [redacted] was presented when she made her purchase is attached for your review.   Additionally, per the Terms of Service Ms. [redacted] agreed to at the time of her purchase, Intelius has a no refund policy. As such, we are unable to provide her with any refund at this time.   This information should successfully resolve Ms. [redacted]'s complaint. Intelius customers are presented with a two tier pricing structure when purchasing reports on the Intelius website.  They have the option of paying the full price, or a discounted promotional price which includes a 7-Day Pass of the Intelius Premier Plus Membership.  When a customer...

selects the promotional price, they are presented the benefits of the membership and the terms and conditions of the offer, including billing.  By choosing to proceed with the purchase at the promotional price, the customer agrees to the terms and conditions of the promotional offer.In this case, the promotional offer was accepted and the Intelius Premier Plus 7-Day Pass was activated.  As requested, the Intelius Premier Plus Membership was canceled on 6/13/2016 and a refund was issued for $29.95.  An additional refund totaling $89.85 was refunded on 6/20/2016.  The additional refund will appear on Mr. [redacted]’s statement ($29.95x3) in one of the next two billing cycles, depending on the closing date.  Again, all membership charges have been refunded and no future membership charges will occur.We appreciate your cooperation in resolving this matter and apologize for any inconvenience.

Intelius is not an international service, we are a U.S. based company who generally services consumers in the United States.  After further review it appears that Mr. [redacted] is accessing our site from outside of the United States which we believe is why he is having difficulty.  Once Mr. [redacted] returns to the U.S. he should be able to utilize our services.We appreciate your cooperation in resolving this issue and apologize for any inconvenience.

The data is compiled into a comprehensive database record that Intelius maintains with active updates from its sources. Due to the nature of public records, however, Intelius cannot warrant the information provided is always current, complete, or accurate.    Per the Terms of Service Ms. [redacted] agreed to upon the completion of her purchase, Intelius has a no refund policy. However, a customer courtesy, I have provided Ms. [redacted]’s PayPal account with a refund of $39.95 on October 31, 2017. Ms. [redacted] should note this refund in her account within the next several days depending on Paypal’s internal refund policy.   This information should successfully resolve Ms. [redacted]’s complaint. Each offer includes a discounted report price plus a one-week trial of the Intelius Premier Plus membership.  If the user elects to continue with their selected report type but does not wish to continue the Premier Plus membership they are instructed to cancel the Premier Plus membership within the first 7 days and they will only be charged $7.95 for the Premier Plus trial membership.   According to our records, Mr. [redacted] contacted the Intelius customer care department on February 28, 2017, which was still within the 7-day trial membership period. At that time, the representative removed Mr. [redacted] from the Premier Plus membership program and suspended the impending $7.95 cancellation fee. Additionally, the representative refunded Mr. [redacted]’s initial discounted $.95 search report fee. According to our records, Mr. [redacted] purchased several additional in [redacted] reports, including two Criminal Checks and a Nationwide Federal Criminal report on the...

same individual on September 22, 2016.  These additional reports are not covered under Mr. [redacted]’ Intelius Premier membership.  As such, Mr. [redacted] was charged for each additional add on report he ordered on the above-referenced date.
 
On September 25, 2016 Mr. [redacted] emailed the Intelius customer care team. Per the Intelius Terms of Service, all fees are non-refundable, however, as a matter of customer courtesy, the Intelius customer care agent provided a refund to Mr. [redacted] in the amount of $73.65.  Mr. [redacted] should note this refund on his financial billing statement within the next five to seven days depending on his financial institution’s internal refund policy.

After searching for Ms. [redacted] information, no results were found.  Ms. [redacted] request to opt out would have been processed after we received her letter in the mail.  All letters which contain requests to opt out are destroyed once they are completed.  If Ms. [redacted] finds more information for herself in the future, we will be happy to remove it upon request.We appreciate your cooperation in resolving this issue and apologize for any inconvenience.
