Review: Company continues to bill me for products that I do not want. I knew they were going to ship products and I would be billed, however I was under the impression that I would be able to cancel those shipments. When I attempted to call and cancel after my first shipment, I was told to leave a message and the company would return my call. I called on three occasions with no return calls from them. I received my second shipment today and called again and actually got to speak with someone who tells me they are going to continue to bill me 2 more installments for these products that I do not want. I have the calls recorded. They stated that they have no record of me calling and leaving messages but I have it and can send it to you guys if needed.Desired Settlement: I have had $128.00 drafted from my account that I would like refunded and for the company to accept their product back.

Review: I purchased a Spanish Learn Language program and decided to return within their return policy timeframe. I called in March and they credited my account the $128 they had charged. In May, July, August they started charging my credit card $64 each time. The product was returned via UPS on tracking number [redacted] on March 22, 2013 under their return authorization number [redacted]. I sent an email to their customer support on 8/26/2013 and have received no reply.Desired Settlement: I am requesting a full refund of whatever they have charged my credit card. I know of $192 worth but they may have charged in September and I don't have the statement yet.

Review: I ordered and wanted 3- $9 set of CDs. Now it has turned in to $900 for a product I didn't knowingly order or want. When I called to cancel in April I though the situation was resolved but I still am getting credit card bills. The company refuses to stop sending products and refuses to stop billing.Desired Settlement: Stop billing my credit card and stop sending me products. Stop scamming the public. This game by Pimsleur is meant to deceive.

Review: I ordered the $9.95 Swedish Trial in June. I was automatically enrolled in a continual billing process that was hidden, and in my opinion predatory. After receiving the Swedish Gold lessons and learning of the additional charges, I emailed the company to cancel within the appropriate time frame. I received a generated email back that buries the fact (last paragraph of email) that they do not accept confirmation of cancellation via email and to call. This email automatically directs to spam folders (for me at least). I received no billings or other products, so I believed my order was appropriately canceled. I then, two months later, receive a notice that I need to pay around $275 dollars for the one product of Swedish Gold program. I called that evening after bouncing around a few numbers and learned that the billing center was closed. Though their was mention of support to midnight, 8:30pm, 8pm, or 7:30pm depending on which source I looked at. The email in question said midnight (which was false as I called around &-8 and there were none available).

I was able to talk to a person in another department and after going over my account history (they made several attempts to bill me on a card that no longer was in use without any knowledge or communication to me). Had they made an attempt to communicate with me (they had my information) I could have resolved this much sooner. Instead they continued to run charges that did not go through.

I spoke with a billing rep today, 9/9/2014, around 12pm EDT. The representative offered a settlement of $225 if I paid today. She explained that since I did not contact them via phone in the appropriate time frame, I would be stuck with the product and must pay. I explained that they lacked solid consumer communication and exhibited predatory billing practices, designed to have consumers fall into getting sent products they do not want and either deal with hassle of their return policy (which is purposefully constructed) and customer service or pay the premium. They wait until the last minute to ship, bill, and notify you hoping you are backed up against the wall.

I am willing to return the product unused and work on a more reasonable and appropriate settlement.

Thank youDesired Settlement: I am willing to return the product unused and work on a more reasonable and appropriate settlement.

Thank you

Review: Almost a year ago I contacted this company about purchasing their foreign language CD Basic course. It was advertised on the Internet as $9.99 for the basic set of CDs. When I called to order the customer service representative asked if I wanted to sign up for the second set of cds as well which would cost $250 dollars. I told them I only wanted the intial course as a "brush up" before my trip to Paris. I doubled checked twice that no additional cds would be sent and that I was agreeing to only purchase and pay for the 9.99 introductory course. The customer service representive assured me that was correct and took my card information.

Since that time the following cds were automatically shipped with a charge of $250. I immediatley called the company to suggest there had been a mistake and ask how to return the shipped cds. They told me that I must pay for the cds. They also claimed they had my recorded message of the order. I asked them to please listen to my message again which clearly stated my order of ONLY the first set. The company promised that a manager would contact me again concerning the matter. Instead I received another letter requesting the payment. I called a second time in February requesting to speak to a manager and settle the dispute and return the cds. Again I was told a manger was not available but would contact me. Once again another letter arrived demanding the money or a collection agency would be notified. After two failed phone calls I decided to write a letter asking how I could ship back the cds and resolve the issue. The letter was postmarked at the beginning of April. Yet again I have received a notice suggesting that I owe the money and a collection agency will be notified.

Never in my life have I dealt with such a shady, lying company. It is obvious to me that no manager has ever been notified concerning my account or the situation I have been forced into. Never at any time during my orginal phone call did the sales rep tell me that I was required to also purchase the following cds for $250 dollars. If that had been the case I would not have agreed to the original purchase.

My Customer # is [redacted]. My records at that company should indicate two phone calls as well as one written letter. At this point I don't know what more I can do as the deceived customer.

I appreciate the Revdex.com stepping in.

Sincerely, [redacted]Desired Settlement: I will gladly ship back their cds if they will email me a postage label to pay for the shipping. They remain in the box unopen. I would like the charges to be dropped. Obviously if their cds are returned they have not lost money except the expense of shipping which was their error in the first place.

Review: My husband ordered a $9.95 set of cds from this company, my husband received them and paid for this set. Then several months later , they sent a new larger set of cds in the mail (he did not order them) and said it comes automatically with the small set as a part of their program. He had no idea this was a program, I called this company when the larger set came in the mail to find this information out, and told this company we did not want these cds and I wanted to send them back. The lady said ok I will cancel this order and send you postage to send them back and also said we had a trial period to use the cds. I said no I dont want the trial with these cds we are happy with the small 9.95 set and want to send these back. So she sent me the cancellation via email & I printed this but she never sent me the postage I waited and it never came. Then we received mail from this company saying we owe $256.00 for these cds. My husband called them and it took many attempts to get the supervisor and he never could get the supervisor, they was terribly rude & that person (the supervisor) was supposed to call us back, they never did. We asked them repeatedly to give us the return address to send this larger cds back and they said we cant send them back. They also sent us another invoice recently for another one of their customers whom owes the same thing. This company is trying to scam us into paying for something we never wanted, and they were supposed to have the phone call on record that shows they are supposed send postage but they are claiming it doesn't matter and they want us to pay instead of return the cd's we never wanted from the beginning I even have the confirmation of cancellation from my email to prove this. Thank youDesired Settlement: I want this bill to be gone & us be able to return these cds to this company we never wanted them or ordered them & wanted to send them back in the first place. I also want this to never happen again & I want [redacted] to know what this company is really doing because they are broadcasting this company approving of this.

Review: On September 26th, my son showed me a course ad for Pimsleur showing a language program for $9.95. I agreed to allow him to purchase the program, and I charged it on my credit card, $9.95. This is reflected in the emailed receipt that Pimsleur sent to me that day:

Here are the details of your order:

ORDER NUMBER: [redacted]

ITEM DETAILS FOR THIS ORDER:

Quick & Simple - Spanish - CDs

Item: #[redacted]

Availability: This item usually ships on the next business day.

Quantity: 1

Price: $9.95

DISCOUNT:$0.00

TAX (PA only):$0.00

SHIPPING AMOUNT:$0.00

SHIPPING TYPE: U.S. Standard, 1-2 weeks

Nowhere in the receipt above does it state that future courses will be sent and automatically charged to your credit card (in 4 monthly payments of $64.)

So, on October 24th, 2012 we unexpectedly received a package from "Internet Order LLC" (an affiliate?) When we finally opened it, curious as to what this mysterious "Internet Order LLC" was sending us, we found it contained the Pimsleur "Spanish 1 - Gold Course," with a receipt that showed a new order number and an order total of $0. There was no receipt for the credit card charge for this product. They did however, charge my credit card $64.00. My card statement said "Internet Order" NOT Pimsleur, as the payee, so I did not connect that it was Pimsleur who was charging us.

On December 28th, 2012, I again received a package from "Internet Order LLC" with the Spanish 2 - Gold Course. Once again, the statement had a $0 balance, with yet another order number. No receipt for any credit card charges were in the shipping package. Nowhere on the receipt does it state that they will keep sending more courses and keep charging my credit card. Nowhere on the receipt does it say that I will be charged $64 for 4 months after a 30 day trial.

This week, they sent me a letter stating that I now owed them $448. It also stated to call [redacted] to discuss.

When I spoke with the Pimsleur representative today, he stated that the problem was that I had failed to click on the links on their website in order to get the detailed terms and conditions. He stated that he did not think it was necessary to be upfront in the ad or the receipt about these terms and conditions on the $9.95 order. He did not think it necessary to inform customers that future charges would be made on their credit cards in addition to the $9.95 in the ad or the receipt, because they should have clicked on the terms and conditions. The rep then said that I was charged $64 for the Spanish 1 - Gold Course CD, but that the remaining 3 payments did not go through as the credit card rejected the charge. (This was actually because I had lost my credit card and the bank replaced it with a new number.) Therefore, he said, I now owe $192 for the Course 1 and $256 for Course 2. I then asked him to send me the receipts of the orders they sent so that I could check the paperwork to match the dates of the charges and to review the details of the agreement. He refused and told me that I should look at the website and click on the terms button to see the details of what I "agreed" to.

The representataive I spoke to at Pimsleur today said DO NOT send the Course CDs back to us, we do not want them back. We just want you to pay $448 for the two courses. He then spoke to a manager and relayed that his manager agreed that if I paid $350, he would mark me paid in full. Otherwise, I was going to be sent to collections.

I find it curious that although they were not able to charge my credit card for the remaining 3 payments for Course 1, they sent me Course 2 anyway. I have researched this company on-line to see if anyone else has had problems with Pimsleur and their ad and website. There are indeed many others who have complained about this practice of hiding their terms and conditions regarding the purchase of a $9.95 course in not so obvious links.

Please advise what my next step should be regarding this complaint. Thank you so much for your consideration,

[redacted]Desired Settlement: I would like Pimsleur (or Internet Order LLC) to:

1. Accept back the Spanish 1 and Spanish 2 Gold Course CDs

2. Refund my $64.00

3. If they have sent the $448 bill to collections, to remove my name from collections

4. To put on all receipts, notice of the future automatic charges that will be placed on their credit card, if the course is not returned within 30 days, so that future customers are clear as to what the terms of the $9.95 purchase are.

Review: I do not want this product. I ordered a "trial" for $10.00 on line. I got the 10 dollar trial. I did not like the product and had no intention of buying any more tapes. Then, I received another package. I feel I was tricked when I received the second package of expensive tapes for 256.00 That I did not order and did not want. I called them and said I did not want it, I only wanted the 10 dollar trial and I told them I wanted to send it back immediately. The person on the phone said it was another free trial, and this one was better than the 10.00 trial, I could send back now, but I should keep it and try it. I told him I thought it was a trick and if I kept it longer they would charge me for it. He said "don't worry they will not charge you for it, you can send it back and there will be no charge for keeping it longer". Later they tried to charge my [redacted] for $256.00 anyway. The payment did not go through on my [redacted] card. Then they sent me a bill. I called again and said I do not want it and I want to send the tapes back, they said we cant take them back & they wanted me to pay $160.00 and keep the tapes. I said No I do not want them and I do not want to Pay $160.00 for something I do not want, I want to send them back. Now they say it is "too late" to send them back. When I ask why they say they cannot restock them. I have never even opened the package so I see no reason they cannot restock it. They claim I must now pay the full price of $256.00 because I did not agree to pay them 160.00 for it. They say I must pay $256.00 even if I do not like it or want it, because the person on the phone tricked me into keeping them longer instead of returning it when I first called them. When I called today they said they still will not give me an address to return it and if I don't pay for it now, they will send me to a collections agency and continue to harass me for a payment.Desired Settlement: I just want to return the product and I do not want to be harassed for payment for a product I have told them repeatedly I do not want.

Review: Billed for items not ordered or received following an online purchase where given the opportunity to purchase similar items was refused over and over. A purchase of $9.99 for the Pimsleur Quick and Simple Spanish language CD's has turned into an extortion of $256.00. There letter states that they have tried and failed to bill my credit card which had they done so would have been unauthorized and therefore illegal. Apparently this is only the first installment that they will ask for.I know that this is a scam as I have researched it on the internet and numerous people have had the same experience.Desired Settlement: I want this company to cease and desist sending me letters demanding money for something I have not ordered or received.

Review: I ordered a beginning Spanish class from Pimsleur for $12.95. My understanding was that this was a one-time purchase. Months later I received a package from Pimsleur with a statement that did not indicate any charges. I mistakenly inferred that this shipment was included in my initial purchase and did nothing. Then charges started appearing on my checking/debit card account. I contacted Pimsleur only to learn that I could return the most recent shipment (SPansih II) and that I was obligated to purchase the first course (SPanish I). I had no intention of investing in such an expensive language program and never would have purchased the the initial set of cds for the advertised $9.95 (+tax) if I have known that there was a future obligation.Desired Settlement: I would like to return the Spanish I course for a full refund. I would like to be refunded the $138.24 I have already paid and not to be charged the remaining balance they claim I still owe.

Review: I saw their advertisement online and ordered Pimsleur Approach Quick & Simple - Spanish for 9.95$. Now my credit card is charged for 64$. I called their customer service and they told me that when I ordered that cource for 9.95$, they automatically enrolled me for their advanced cource and I will be charged four times with 64$ . The representative told me that I am going to CONTINUE RECEIVING A BILL OF $64.00 PER MONTH FOR ANOTHER THREE MONTHS! This was not communicted to me when I made the first order.

How can they be allowed to operate in this way, tricking people out of hundreds of dollars, by one single purchase for $9.95 that someone makes?Desired Settlement: I didn't make an order for thir advanced cources. I want my 64$ refunded and cancel the further charges on my credit card

Review: I order sample of language cd. I receive a call within a couple of weeks to ask if I wanted to buy the full program. I told the representative that I had not reviewed the sample and needed time to do so. I asked her to call back in a month or so. She assured me that I would not be charge anything else. She call me a month or so later and I told her I was not ready to make a decision, she said OK. A month or so later I received another package; I never open as I believe it to be another sample. I then receive another and a letter that Internet Order had tried to charge my credit. I contact them and advised them that I had not authorized their representative to send additional products nor charge my account. They said someone would call me. I waited a week, no call. I call and stated my problem and they informed me that the subsequent packages were not a sample but the actual product. I advise this that I did not give their representative the authority to send or charge me. I told them I would be sending the un-authorized CD back; they said that the packages would not be accepted without a return authorization. I got a call from a [redacted], would left a message to call him. I have call for the last three (3) without a return call.Desired Settlement: I want and return authorization number in order to return the un-authorized CDs.

Review: I ordered the $9.95 foreign language program which did not carry a rider or subscription or any other promise other than to try it for 30 days. If after 30 days I was not satisfied I could return for a full refund of $9.95. A month of so later I different type of package and I opened the package to see if I could identfy what, who, why, and how. I shop frequently over the TV and or internet, but I didn't recognize this large white box. It turnout out to be another type of foreign language program (gold) edition. I didn't order this, but it has eight disk. I thought well maybe I'll check it out and see if it is worth keeping. There were no instructions included in the box on the return policy. There was no costs listed on the package. I had no clue why it was shipped to me in addition to the one I had ordered. I thought maybe the company had made an error. I later discovered that they ship these programs to customers with a giant hook. If you do not open and read the fine print, you will automatically be billed $256 over four months ($64/month). Every other month you incur another $256 with a four month billing. I have not evened opend the $9.95 package (which was sealed in plastic) and tried it and this company has circuitously hooked into my credit card for $768 and they intend to carry it on for another 12 to 18 months (or so). I've never used any of the discs or tried any ONE of the shipments to include the $9.95 (no hook) shipment. I've tried to phone them TWICE to stop the shipments and refund my money. I got put on hold for 45 minutes. I got transferred to a supervisor who never answered the phone. I had to verify my account number, identity, address, phone number, email, and still had to verify it again. I was told that I could not get my money back and I was told that I still owed $768 for a PROGRAM that I have NEVER Opened or Used. I am being billed for something that I DID NOT ORDER. When I phoned to protest this Mail fraud, I was not treated with fairness or given proper consdieration. The sales person kept playing games with the phone and refused to resolve the problem. I BELIEVE this business is no different that the Phishing Scam Artists that are bilking unsuspecting folks out of millions in around the world through internet cafes. This may be a legitimate business, but there tactics are completely unethical and they should NOT carry the seal of the Revdex.com. I intend to tell all of my 1200 friends on facebook to NEVER shop with them or purchase their products.Desired Settlement: I want a full refund of all charges. If the company will provide me wiht RETURN Instructions, I will gladly return ALL packages to include the $9.95 set. --- I don't want anything from them and I want my money refunded in full. I have not used ANY of their products.

Review: Pimsleur Approach shipped a package to me with a Spanish language course. The package was unsolicited and they tried to charge an old cancelled credit card. No charges were processed by my credit card company. The package had no billing, contact or return information enclosed. About two months ago I began received threatening letters stating I owe them $256 for a product I never ordered. I tried to resolve via email communications. I received another notice yesterday threatening collections or legal action. I called the number provided and they refused to provide a method to have the unsolicited product returned. They said the only way to clear their records under my name is to pay them $256. I did not order this product from them and have made gone beyond reasonable attempts to get their product returned, but they refuse. I am seeking assistance stopping their fraudulent activity and ensure this does not damage my credit.Desired Settlement: Clear the account information they have on file under my name.

Review: I ordered an internet product called Pimsleur Quick and Simple Spanish for $9+. I paid this bill. I then began to receive billings for $256 for a followup course which was supposedly mailed to me. I never received a second course, nor did I ask for second course (I never used the first one). When I called Internet Order Inc, I was told that the product was delivered but that verification of delivery was not possible (ie signature). The representative was very nice but insisted that I pay the $256 to close the account despite the fact that I never received this item. The money is not the issue here, as it is costing me money to write up this complaint, but I don't wish others to be subjected to false billings and harassment. While it is easy for me to accept a bogus $256 charge, it's unlikely that most people could absorb this cost.Desired Settlement: The company should never send something unbidden in the mail and then expect payment for the item. If one sends something in the mail unbidden, it should be sent with signature verification, to prove that the recipient actually received the item if they are going to be billed for it. There are too many possibilities for fraud in this type of case. Thanks.

Review: www.pimsleurapproach.com advertises the Pimsleur Spanish course for $9.95 + Free S&H, then they sucker you into $29.97 worth of I don't know what. I received one DVD in the mail for a combined total of $39.92 (not $9.95 + Free S&H). Then, I found $64.00 in charges on my bank account. Several days later I received a package with CDs in the mail. I called the company. They said I have 30 days to review the product before they charge my account. That is not true. Then, I saw another charge for $64.00 on my bank account for another installment of a product I have not received. I requested they cancel these shipments. They said the first charge for $64.00 was over 30 days and they cannot refund that money. Plus, it isn't just $64.00, it's $256.00!! Plus, I now have a second "Posted" transaction 11/25/13 RECUR DEBIT CRD PMT11/24 STR*LEARN LANGUAGE [redacted] PA [redacted] ?MCC=[redacted] for $64.00 for a product I have not even received. That's not 30 days to review the product. At the very least this is deceptive advertising and actually probably fraud.Desired Settlement: I want the money back that I have wasted on this junk. And, I would like them forced to put the actual cost of their product in plain English and readily visible so that others will not be scammed by them.

Review: Emailed and called the company multiple times with regards to returning a product. Twice I have been told that the system is down and representative will call me back. No representative can be reached to obtain return information and cancel any further charges from the company. There is a time limit as to how long you have to send this item back, and it seems that after over a week of failing to make contact with me, that the company is just trying to make the return so difficult.
