The HVAC technician was on time, competent, well-mannered and personable -- he even spent a few minutes after completing the work to make friends with my pets... what a nice guy!

We've been Michael and Son Home Care Agreement customers for about three years now. The company is very proactive when it comes to setting up your twice-annual HVAC check-up and every technician that has been sent to our house has been very professional and courteous. Services offered by M&S really run the gamut.

Troy C. was prompt, polite and thorough. He tested our HVAC System quite a few times to make sure that everything that was replaced worked well. We couldn't have asked for a more professional craftsman than Troy.

The technician Mr. Shyam Krishna S[redacted] performed the work to a top level of perfection. I truly admire his dedication to make costumers happy, his loyalty to the company he represent (Michael & Sons), and his work ethic. Next tine I request a service, I will ask for Mr. Shyam to be send to do the work.

The technician was extremely thorough in the evaluation process and the services provided. The process was explained in way that could be understood. The level of technical expertise was what I have come to expect from a representative of Michael & Son. I appreciated the technician approach to the repair, his concern for the safety operation of systems, overall professionalism, and kindness shown throughout the process.
I am confident in the quality of work and services performed by Mr. Nate M[redacted] and his assistant.

Eddie W is the first electrician to figure out how to retrofit our existing under counter lighting system in the kitchen. the previous system used very difficult to change 2 pronged lights that were so inconvient that we required help just to change them. Eddie installed an LED system for us (and will do the rest of the house in 3 weeks) thanks eddie

I called Michael & Son for a problem with my toilet, and with my garbage disposal. My appointment time was between 10:00a-2:00p My plumber, Augustin arrived at 11:20. I showed him my issues, and he quoted me a price on each, without pressuring me to make a decision. I decided to just do the toilet, and leave the garbage disposal for another day. I was quoted a price, again, and he told me that I can even get my own,GD, and then quoted a price to have them come install it. He did fix my toilet though, and he was professional, courteous, and quick about it. I think the prices may be a little high, but to have my toilet working again is worth it. I will definitely call this company again for any plumbing issues.

I have excellent and prompt service from Michael and Son for several years and would highly recommend them for plumbing and electrical work.

James Mabie is a very honest and competent plumber. He is very respectful, efficient and works very, very clean. He is not your average plumber. I will always request his plumbing services because he is simply the best plumber in the DMV Metro area.

Carlos was very patient and helpful with my furnace inspection and sharing information about additional services available.

Michael and Son Services issued a refund of the $89 to [redacted] and we gave her the transaction number and we have also provided her with the information that she requested regarding how the tech came up with his diagnosis.

Poor customer service. lack of professionalism. Incompetent technicians. Quick on selling you the false services that they can never provide (24/7 service, same day service, member priority, etc). A technician arrived at my Condo on 5/5 for poorly functioning AC, misdiagnosed the problem- per his peer who came next day, charged me 922$ for the false membership service, plus change of two parts which were absolutely unnecessary, and left my condo while I insisted it did not seem that my AC was working since the room temp was still 76!! and I could not feel the crisp cool air flowing, but he confabulated that it takes time! Sure enough the AC never kicked in, after 3 more phone calls finally they got someone to my condo again on 5/6 which added some R22 to my AC but obviously not enough, he confirmed the first technician misread the R22 level (which he wrote in the statement he refilled it partly and not adequately!) and said he was going to talk to his manager to check the system for a leak (obviously he knew the AC would not kick in again!), and be aware that every time they leave they reset the AC that it keeps it running for a while and makes you think they fixed the problem, but it shots itself off shortly by the safety switch due to whatever problem (that I believe in my case is a leak somewhere or inadequate R22) so they make you believe that your AC is working but shortly after their departure it stops again!! Anyhow today is 5/7 and I called for service again and the manager very calmly and indifferently (almost felt like purposefully) stated that they have no opening till Sunday 5/10. Are you kidding me? 1000$ charge in less than 48 hours (which BTW included the 24/7, same day, member priority service), poor diagnostic, poor performance, poor problem solving and now no AC for another 3 days with outside temp of 82 degree? and worse than that no accountability at all. Overall I think these people are so loaded that losing one client does not matter much. Worse not trying to help another individual with their "expertise" is not what they live for. They are not running a service company for fellow citizens, they are running a for profit scam business for themselves. They need to address a lot of issues from their customer service level to their management level. It is sad that professionals like me have to rely on businesses like them to have a simple AC service.

I'd like to give Jerry M[redacted], master electrician at Michael & Sons Services, three stars for excellent service and courtesy troubleshooting and repairing my bathroom light fixture . He also looked at other electrical issues at my house and yard and gave me some written estimates for future work. I highly recommend Jerry M[redacted] for electrical solutions. E. Brian J of Michael & Son was exceptional in service and professional courtesy. We call Michael & Son late Saturday evening as we just arrived in Virginia from North Carolina to visit our 97 year old mother, who was baking in 85 degree temperature in her small home. We were alarmed that her AC was not working and called Michael & Son to schedule an emergency service call the next day. Michael & Son were the only service vendors able to take the service call for us. The next day, in the morning, Brian J promptly identified the issue -- a burnt out capacitor -- did all the appropriate pressure and freon checks, and diligently looked over my mother's old 18 year old condenser. I've had a number of technicians visit homes we owned over the years with HVAC issues and by far, I felt the most comfortable with Brian J in his professional demeanor, his good nature, and his caring sensitivity to our situation.

Our problems with Michaels and Sons begin in late 2014, not long after they installed a new Carrier furnace in our basement. Their faulty installation resulted in a major basement water leak, which has costs us tens of thousands of dollars in water and mold damage (the latter not covered by insurance). Their customer service rep (Mr. Vance S[redacted]) talks a good game, but he has never followed through on promises to assist us with our concerns, despite making multiple promises to do so in writing. Moreover, he is very unresponsive. It often takes multiple emails or phone calls in order to him to respond. When our service contract expires this summer, we will not renew. Nor will we ever recommend this company to any of our friends or family members.

The technician was friendly and professional. He worked quickly and explained what caused the issue and what needed to be done.

I have fluorescent bulbs in the light over my pool table. The bulbs were flickering and not adequately lighting the pool table. Jason S[redacted], the electrical service technician with Michael & Son, recommended replacing the fluorescent bulbs with a newer technology LED light kit. He informed me that the bulbs in this kit would produce better light and more than likely never need to be replaced. He ordered the LED kit and returned the next day to install them. The installation took less than 30 minutes and produced excellent lighting for the pool table. Jason did an excellent job, was very courteous and informative in the process, and the cost was very reasonable.

I called Michal and Sons Thursday morning regarding blocked drain pipe/flooded basement and described in great detail the situation and what was needed; they scheduled a certified tech to come to my house that day between 12 and 4pm and said I would receive an email with the name and picture of the assigned tech as well as a call when the tech was on their way. Never received an email or phone call; I contacted Michael and Sons to let them know this and they acted surprised and said I should receive an email and hear from the tech soon. Heard nothing. I called at 3:45pm to inquire on status and was told the tech's truck broke down. However, no one had bothered to notify me of this or arrange for a different tech. They promised to send a tech the next day between 12 and 4pm and I asked them to make sure it was earlier in the time slot because of the inconvenience and missed promises we experienced the previous day and they assured me they would. I spoke to someone the next morning to confirm arrangements and again, they assured me a tech was assigned and would call when they were on their way to my house. Approx. 12 pm a tech called to tell me he was on his way but it was for the wrong service and not at all what I had described in great detail to Michael and Son in my first call. I asked that tech to let his dispatch supervisor know this and he assured me someone would call to confirm when a new tech [for the needed service] had been assigned. I didn't hear from anyone until later in the day when a customer service rep called to ask me how the work turned out that was done by the plumber - ???. I explained in great detail again my experience with Michael and Son over the past 48 hours, that not one person had done anything for my requests nor responded correctly. The customer service rep was very concerned, briefly put me on hold to speak to a manager and when he returned on the line said that manager was in the process of rectifying the situation and would call me within 15 minutes to explain everything. I never heard from the manager. Approximately 5:30pm I received a call from a man identifying himself as a Michael and Son tech, 2 hours away, who said he worked the night shift and was headed to my house. I never received an email from Michael and Son with a name and picture of who they assigned [for security purposes] and was uncomfortable with a stranger in my house on a Friday night so I told this man to go help another customer. Ultimately, we procured the services of a local crew who worked several hours to rectify our situation. The customer service rep told me [when we talked that afternoon] that he planned to follow up with me Monday to make sure everything was resolved to my satisfaction. I'll be sorry to disappoint him when he calls for feedback. I am not a person who complains and typically go to great lengths to give people the benefit of the doubt when mistakes occur. But, this was by far the worse service [or lack thereof] I ever experienced from any vendor. Not to mention the incredible inconvenience and mess, these delays caused us! Michael and Son pre-recorded message says all calls are monitored for quality assurance... I sure hope they listen to all the calls I had with their firm and implement lessons learned from this abysmal encounter!
