Mr. Cooper Reviews (%countItem)

My mortgage was with Citi and then was recently purchased by Mr. Cooper. This company calls my office phone incessantly trying to get me to refinance. I already refinanced recently and am not interested in doing it again, and have told them as much. I also told them they may not call me on my office phone during business hours, but they still do! I get calls 2 times per day! MAKE IT STOP! I can't believe it is legal for the customer (me) to have no control over the mortgage company I need to do business with. I have experienced a loss of services (e.g., they do not provide my amortization schedule) and they act like pesky telemarketers that won't take me off their list.

I had insurance through Mr. Cooper. I set up insurance through AAA. I told AAA Mr. Cooper would pay my insurance through my escrow. I told Mr. Cooper to pay my AAA insurance. Mr. Cooper cancelled the insurance I had through them but never paid my AAA insurance. My AAA insurance was then cancelled for non-payment. Mr. Cooper has refused to accept responsibility for this. Lying weasels.

I've run into this scenario on more than one occasion. I pay more than the amount due and ask them to pay down the principal, and yes this is allowed according to the original mortgage servicer (Dovenmule - they were soooo much better). Keep in mind that I'm paying more... I've been assessed a fee and charge amount of 10.77 this year, no one can explain this so they sent a check for 10.77, although I was suppose to receive a callback from a manager. Got thru latest statement and this charge is back. Haven't cashed the check I just received and will have to call about this charge and the non-application of monies to the principal again. This is probably my 5th or 6th mortgage company that I've had to deal with in my lifetime and they are the worst!

I have had 4 mortgage companies and Nationstar is the worst. They do not know how to properly handle payments, they have poor record keeping and as a homeowner who always has paid her mortgage on time, I am terrified with this company. They take their time actually depositing the payment so even though I schedule a payment on time (1st of the month), it could be weeks before they actually withdrawl the money then accuse me of being late. I call to resolve these issues but even then, they don't document the fixes and mess up again. I have to watch my account daily to see if they are going to take my payment or, like they have done in the past, withdrawl the payment then return it and hit me with extra fees even though there was NO reason to return the original payment!

My home went into foreclosure and we worked with Mr. Cooper on everything! We filled out ALL the documents they asked over and over again! Every time we finish, there's a new documents to be added that they DID NOT MENTION! We spent over $200 to send new documents. AGAIN they say we didn't add certain documents they DID NOT STATE! They lied 4 TIMES about about sending our lawyer any documents! we are about to lose our home BECAUSE of how Mr. Cooper has treated us and hoe they WILL NOT HELP! THEY WILL NOT WORK WITH ANY CUSTOMER FOR ANYTHING! THEY WILL LIE OVER AND OVER AGAIN!!!!

Citi sold my loan to these clowns - Nationstar then Mr. Cooper probably to prop up numbers
I will complain to Citi separately.
Do not trust billing/balance correct - took 6 months to set it straight.
I assume they are regulated so I won't see a missing monthly payment but I will watch.
Summary - Incompetent - stay away

Absolutely terrible! Husband lost his income and we started an owner operator business. Had a ton of repairs with little to no income in first 3 months. We attempted to apply for mortgage assistance. We were told we needed more information, tax info and profit and loss info that is impossible to provide given we are a brand new company. I finally sent them receipts and stubs for every penny we have made so far along with all repair bills etc clearly showing a huge loss for our business. I never heard back from anyone until today when I receive a letter stating we were denied for assistance due to not submitting proper documents on time. It makes ZERO sense. There is absolutely no communication at this company unless it is multiple letters, phone calls, and even home visits to try and collect the money. Talk about harassment. I'm so disgusted at how we have been treated by this company from day one. We weren't asking for anything huge just a couple months to get caught back up. Absolutely ridiculous!

Mr. Cooper (formerly Nationstar) sent Safeguard to a home we own but have rented for the past 10+ years. Renter moved and we were rehabbing the house in order to sell. Just over 30 days late on our payment, Mr. Cooper hires Safeguard a "property preservation company", who deems the house vacant (which it was and we had notified Mr. Cooper of the same). Safeguard hires two different companies to winterize and secure the house. The house had been vacant for two months with NO issues whatsoever. My sons went to work on the house, found the door locks busted and flooring (hardwood and tile) we bought to install in the house was stolen. They went up the street to buy a new lock, came back and caught one of the sub-contractor's cutting the walls and cutting out copper pipe from both the plumbing and air conditioning. We fight with Mr. Cooper to give us information about why someone was in our house. We get in touch with Safeguard who ultimately passes us off to the sub-contractors' insurance companies (Chubb and Western Litigation) who will do nothing for us......which means we will need to go the legal route rather than thinking companies will actually do the right thing. Bottom line, our losses, spurred on by Mr. Cooper having someone enter our house for "property preservation" literally precipitated over $15,000 in damage and theft to our house and no one will do anything for us. Mr. Cooper calls the day after our payment is due but they can't call and discuss sending someone in our house when we have already told them numerous times that we were in the process of rehabbing it. Mr. Cooper, Safeguard and their contracted property preservation companies are nothing but a bunch of thieves. These companies have done the same to lots and lots of Mr. Cooper customers. A quick google search will provide anyone with proof. I would not finance with them EVER. Run away from this crooked company!!!!

Mr. Cooper is not customer friendly. I've never missed a mortgage payment. However, Mr. Cooper calls every day by phone until they receive your mortgage payment. Last month, as I was checking my bank account daily, they claimed they hadn't received my payment. I had to put a "stop payment" on my mortgage check and pay by phone. They also don't allow you to pay forward towards your Escrow Account in order to keep your mortgage payment down when your Escrow Account is low. Now I'm having to send my mortgage payment "Certified-Return Receipt" to make sure that I can track what is happening to my payments which costs more money. Mr. Cooper suggested I could wire the payment, etc...that's also an extra cost. I tried to use my computer internet to pay my bill to Mr. Cooper, but they request your full social security number and private information in order to do so. I don't think so. Also asked if I had an ap. My cell phone has no features, so can't do that. It is costing more and more through Mr. Cooper. What a joke.

So here's my story....we were with United Wholesale Mortgage and they sold our mortgage to Mr. Cooper. All of their marketing material states ..."Don't worry, if you were on Auto pay with your previous mortgage holder, your Auto pay information will transfer over..." and the fact is that this is not the truth. SO....that means they LIED. How is it that we as a country allow this kind of illicit business practices go on? I do not understand. Anyhow, after 4 different calls with 4 different reps at the Mr. Cooper TX call center I was finally transferred to someone with a title (Jessica with Account Services?) and she informed me in finality that they have not transferred our Auto pay info. That they do not handle bi-weekly auto deductions from checking accounts and that I could set up Auto pay online for a once a month payment.
THAT LADY WAS WRONG AS WELL. I received a form to fill out and start bi-weekly auto pay. Maybe it will work, maybe it won't. From the sounds of it, this place is very poorly managed and NO ONE knows what is going on. Lucky us they now handle our mortgage.

Luckily, I do not have an account with Mr. Cooper, unfortunately my grandmother did. My grandmother passed away four months ago without a will. I called Mr. Cooper and let them know that, however, they said that she will continue to accrue penalties and mail even though she is deceased. We provided Mr. Cooper with the death certificate, and even then they said there is nothing they can do but continue to send her mail. Every month I call and let them know that I will return their mail. Now they are sending certified mail. I cannot believe the shoddy business practice of this company. Not only that, I feel that they pray on senior citizens to refinance their homes with Mr. Cooper. Please, do not go through this company for anything.

I am lost for words with this institution that calls themselves a bank!!! I am a retired elderly women struggling with my home for about a year, with my income reducing and my home being my only property and I have no where else to go. I have been jumping through hoops and making myself sick with this so call institution that calls themselves Mr. Cooper, I lived in another state and retired and relocated to my home in Florida, thinking I was going to be at ease since they promise to work with me as this will be my residence. I have applied multiple times for a loan modification, and time and time again they have unfairly with minimum to none explanation have rejected me. I have desperately reached out to them numerous of times explaining my situation, and they just dont care. I am unfortunately going through foreclosure process, which scares me everyday and makes my health worst. I am a 66 year old women, who has multiple illness and the last thing I need to to loose the only place I live. I just cant believe how they do business.... like I said at the beginning of my review I am lost for words I feel Mr. Cooper has racially discriminated me becaaue they dont give me any other reason not to work with me other than I guess I am a Hispanic women struggling with my home. I hope they read this review and have some sord of compassion and can understand how overwhelmed and stress I am with this situation. Its just not fair how I am being treated!!!! Pleaae help

Citibank sold my mortgage to Nationstar who has sine changed their name to Mr. Cooper. I NEVER had trouble with Citibank, but since being sold, it's been one problem after another with Mr. Cooper/Nationstar!!! - Immediately after they obtained my mortgage they increased my escrow payment a couple of hundred dollars. And this year over $400.00! I asked to see a breakdown and they flat out refuse. - Also, they do not send out a 1099 for your taxes! - I believe they are blatantly breaking the law and I intend to make it my mission to have them investigated. How my escrow payment is equal to my principal and interest is absurd! I am in Massachusetts and every penny in that escrow account is subject to interest, but they haven't paid a dime. - WORST MORTGAGE CO. in the USA! Corrupt!

THE WORST ! DO NOT DO BUSINESS W/ THESE FOLKS! I sure wish someone from this company would call me and help me get resolution with a problem they created. Ridiculous. They have mismanaged my account over the past four months after my home caught fire. All I want is to understand my account and nobody from this business will help me. I've had 5 or 6 people promise to call me back w/ answers. Nobody ever calls. Terrible people who I guess are just liars. They will lie right to you just to get you off the phone.

I have had nothing but trouble since my mortgage was transferred to Mr. Cooper in Sept 2017. I got a notice from my insurance saying my policy has been cancelled due to nonpayment. I pay my escrow trusting that they will pay my policy on time. Nope! Insurance sent them a letter on 5/9 for a policy that rolls over on 6/1. They didn't pay it until 6/6! So glad I didn't have insurance for 11 days during hurricane season due to their negligence! I called to find out what was going on, only to find I am short over $2,000 in escrow because they paid a different insurance company that I have never done business with on 5/23 and then my actual insurance company on 6/6. I also found out they paid some insurance company on 3/20 for $345 for I don't even know what! What are they doing with MY money????? Not to mention that every month I am charged $15 for "property inspections." What is that even for??? I have been a homeowner for 15 years and have had my mortgage sold once before this. I have never had a single issue. I talk to Mr. Cooper almost weekly to get things fixed. Stay away from this company!

THE ABSOLUTE WORST MORTGAGE COMPANY ON THE PLANET EARTH. HORRIBLE, TERRIBLE - THE ABSOLUTE WORST. These folks and their CEO - *** are terrible . They are the worst of the worst. This company is so poorly managed/run by CEO, ***, that because of major errors on all client mortgages, he had to change the name of the company from NationStar to Mr. Cooper just to escape the terrible user reports and continue to do business. These dumb *** couldn't manage their own checkbooks, yet, they claim they are accounting professionals. The first 2 years with dumb-*** NationStar, they forgot to collect any property tax or home insurance impounds. After they found their mistake, they tried to blame it on me!!!!!!! They made me take out a $5000 loan to get their impound fkup fixed. Now, here we are again in 2018, I'm still trying to chance up the problem Mr. Cooper created, and again they've mailed me yet another bill for $3000 because again they've mis-managed the mortgage account. Some one please tell me how to deal with these losers. Look, a mortgage company's job is to correctly calculate mortgage and collect impounds - this messed-up company NationStar/Mr. Cooper hasn't be able to get this right for over 4 years now. If you see NationStar/Mr. Cooper/*** anywhere on your mortgage radar be advised that you will be victimized.

DO NOT DEAL WITH COMPANY. Horrible experience with these is. This Marisol who ambushed me about refinancing and after informing her that I was no longer interested in working with Loanit. That I was dealing exclusively with my lender. I informed her by email not to pull my credit. GUESS WHAT!. She pulled my credit and to make matters worse, she kept insisting that she wanted to talk to me, then she her manager call me to tell me that were trying to help me. That's when I totally lost it and told him that I did want their *** help. STAY AWAY FROM THIS *** COMPANY. HORRIBLE BUSINESS PRACTICES. I really want to rate it with 0 stars. but as you can see, there's no 0 rating.

Mr. Cooper Response • Jun 07, 2018

Thank you for your message and for letting us know that you've had a negative experience with our company. Pacific Union Financial, LLC strives to provide excellent customer service and we regret that this was not your experience. We take your concerns seriously. We've already begun investigating your situation and will provide a more detailed response directly to you.

We worked with Mr Cooper for 2 years no issue. Hurricane Irma passed through here so the company offered us a forbearance plan to help recover. That involved making partial payments for a period of time. We refinanced the house to effect all the necessary repairs paying Mr. Cooper in full before the plan ended. However a month later this company put a 90 day no pay derogatory on our credit report. They have not responded with repeated efforts to get this situation corrected. In spite of documented proof we made all agreed payments.

Worst mortgage company ever. Auto drafted a payment 10 days after I made it already. Then, when I called to have them give me $30 off my next month to cover the bank stop fee charge; they said no. So, they screwed up, and I had to pay $30 to correct it. That is the bottom line.

My loan at Citibank was sold to Nationstar, which was later converted to a Mr. Cooper loan. I NEVER had a problem with Citibank or Nationstar for that matter. But day one of being a Mr. Cooper customer, the excrement hit the osculating discs.

For some reason, my taxes and escrow went to he'll in a hand basket. I was somehow behind on my escrow and my payment went up almost $400. I worked with Mr. Cooper and remedied the issue. But to no fail, another issue pops up..

I contact Mr. Cooper about my PMI payment. My home has significantly raised in market value and my home mortgage balance had been paid down. Not a lot, but a little. Enough to show that the value was enough to drop PMI. So.. I called Mr. Cooper and was transferred, probably more than three time to get to the correct department. Got it figured out.. they advised that I would need an appraisal and scheduled it...cool! It cost about $400 and I moved along with the process.

The contract appraiser calls me the day that we scheduled and said he was at the house and no one was home. I was in my home office. Walked outside, no one was in the driveway and he canceled the appointment. I called him back and asked.." ***? I'm home, what's deal Neil?" So he says he'll come over tomorrow. Ok, sure.. so he comes over the next day. walks around the house, comes inside and does his thing. He states to allow the appraisal to make it to Mr. Cooper in about week. Ok...cool. I'll wait it out.

A week goes by, I call back and they have no record of the appraisal. They say the only notes are that the appraisal was canceled.

REALLY? He was here at the house. I talked to him. Shook his hand, had a convo with him about how he hated his job and his wife gained like 50 pound since their last kid and he hasn't had any in like 9 months.

So I the call center person transfers me to PMI departement. The line drops.
I call back, I'm a little irritated at this point. They then transfer me to the PMI departement. They state they will "call me back" with a plan on how to move forward because the PMI guy didn't know what to do.

A week goes by. No call back. So I call back again, get on the phone with the call center person, they transfer me to the PMI department....straight to a voice mail....really? I leave a message

I call back the next day after no call back, the call center person transfers me to the PMI department.... the line drops.

I'm about as mad as a hornet at this point. I call BACK AGAIN. Ask to speak to the call centers persons manager, they get on the phone, warm call the PMI departement, the PMI department has NO IDEA why I'm calling them and no record of me ever speaking with their department. At this point I've explained my story at least 9 TIMES to someone. She states she'll research my issue personally with her manager and try to locate the record of my appraisal. She'll "call me back in a couple of hours"... ok cool..we're getting somewhere.

A week goes by...no call... nothing. I'm starting to think that Mr. Cooper is just a big Nigerian Scam at this point.... but hehold.... day later.. I get a call from Mr. Cooper. Cool.....wait... its not cool... its a telemarketing call about how they wanted to speak with me about my current mortgage and how refinancing might be a good way for me to get a better rate and lower my payment.....so I entertain the caller. She has NO record of me EVER calling Mr. Cooper to sort this whole PMI issue out. In fact, she had no idea that who I was and I was just a number on a list to call....so she conferences in the customer service department...The CS person puts me on hold to find out what's going on... the line drops..

HFS you have to be kidding me.

I call back, this time I wasn't having it. I speak to the customer service department, they get the PMI person on the phone, they state they are not going to hang up on me... they issue me another scheduled appraisal to start the process over because they can't find the first one... two weeks goes by...NOTHING..NOTHING AT ALL.

I call back, at this point I've explained myself to someone at Mr. Cooper almost 15 times by now. I speak to three people and get transferred to a m'fng VOICE MAIL.

I've had it. F Mr. Cooper and I hope you guys go bankrupt.
