Mr. Cooper Reviews (%countItem)

Their refinance department is a total scam! Appraisal company is a subsidiary. Once the appraisal was done, the Mr. Cooper conveniently couldn't find our paperwork (though we sent it twice!!!), and stalled and stalled for over two months and then suddenly denied our request for the bogus reason that they "couldn't verify income". This is ridiculous! We offered 1099's and paycheck stubs, they ignored all of this. After spending $480 on an appraisal, the supervisor wouldn't even take my call. The whole thing is a scam! If this were on the up and up, they would at least have a conversation with me. Learning that the appraisal company is a subsidiary makes perfect sense. Very unethical business practices.

Horrible! Much like the reviews that were previously posted, our experience has been a nightmare. We did not want to use this company, they bought our current loan. In March, we received an Escrow Account Analysis statement and a check for a large overage in our escrow account. Two months later, we received another notice from Mr. Cooper stating we owed them $900 for a deficit in our escrow account? At the same time, we received TWO delinquent tax notices from our county tax assessor for unpaid taxes. I have tried multiple times to speak with their customer service department and they can't be bothered to help. Due to the unpaid taxes ( that Mr. Cooper was supposed to pay) we are now racking up late fees on top of late fees from the tax assessor. It appears that legal action may be the only avenue to get help.

My fiancé and I were surprised months ago to find Mr. Cooper increased our escrow payment $300 *a monthdue to errors on their bookkeeping. When we called to figure it out the rep said that the easiest thing would be to refinance and all would be taken care of plus our payment would be $200 lower than our original loan that was transferred to them.

During the course of this refi, our loan officer had us down for the wrong date the rep originally promised us. We told her that unless we could get it figured out we would be looking for another company for our business as this was not the original plan. She assured us that she would get us done by our original date so we wouldn't have to pay June's mortgage.

June payment still got taken out even though the loan was closed that day. She told us we needed to cancel the autopay (which it says clearly on the website that it would be automatic and never once told us needed to happen) but we would get mailed back a check with the overage amount. I sat through a 2 hour long phone tag trying to figure out what the time frame was on this and was eventually told we should get it back within 30 days by check.

Check came today and we honestly were not surprised that it was missing $1200 from the payment amount. Very unhappy with the entire process and wish we would have just gone with our gut and went with another company.

We paid a mortgage off on 2/23/2020 and Mr Cooper never released the mortgage lien. Laws require liens be released within a certain number of days but they continue to pass me along to the "escalation department". Due to their negligence it is causing issues with selling the property because they won't release the lien. They all acknowledge the loan is paid in full and they even stated that I overpaid and they refunded me the difference. However, they can't seem to figure out how to release my lien.

Due to being out of work during the whole COVID-19 event, it was necessary as a sole-provider with a wife and three children, along with now being unemployed as well, to apply for forbearance through Mr. Cooper. Quick and easy process. Unfortunately, I forgot to turn-off my auto-pay schedule at my bank and a payment got sent on May 1st. On May 3rd Mr. Cooper emailed a notice that maybe I accidentally sent this payment and I could get it refunded. Sounded on the up-and-up.

Well, a month later and after 5 separate calls totaling about 6-hours, that have also included escalations, and today they even said that the wire transfer will be executed by 2:30pm central. Well, of course, It didn't happen.

This company (Mr. Cooper) has a front-end that is as friendly as can be, and an unreachable back-end of their offices that is rooted in evil and full of more lies that one could imagine.

I had a great opinion of this company until this nightmare over the last 30-days... and all I want is to ensure that I can continue to feed my family and pay the absolute essentials until the economy picks-up and employers start hiring again.

Mr. Cooper has at lease $5,591.25 in payments to principal that they have not applied to the principal. I have been working for them for over a month so far with no progress.

Run! Mr. Cooper is Nationstar: the rebranded-yet-odious company that paid tremendous fines for illegal actions with people's finances across America. From my involvement with the company, you can expect an endless onion of associates who cannot do anything (by design), hoops, assurances, and wasted hours that compound the frustration of your already difficult situation.

This April, my credit suddenly dropped from Excellent to Poor because of a sudden 2006-2015 Mr. Cooper mortgage that I was never part of. Of course, this had to happen while we are working through our own mortgage refinance separate from Mr. Cooper (during COVID). I immediately phoned in good faith, opened a fraud investigation as directed, sent all relative legal documents, made a police report, and expected something to happen. Two months later, I'm still waiting for my case to be forwarded to yet-another "investigator" after countless wasted hours on the phone and in sending emails/documents that are "never received". The last "investigator" insisted my signatures were on the questioned loan, but he recanted when I asked to receive a copy. One associate stated my SS# was on the loan, but it wasn't my number! The next one assured me the loan application would not have my SS# on it. My assertion of fraud is now directed toward Mr. Cooper and their shenanigans. IMHO, the company should be shuttered, and their employees should be ashamed for their participation in destroying the financial lives of people.

The worst customer service of any company out there. They do not call back EVER. I have a series of emails begging for a response or a phone call and all I ever get back is some "canned" fake answer with no thought. Tried to get a refi going and they never called me back. Forced me to go with another company. I guess they are doing so well they do not want my $150,000 loan plus interest. Look elsewhere for your mortgage needs. Awful customer service.

Nationstar/Mr, Cooper don't even deserve one star, they are nothing but a joke and a rip off company. I filed bankruptcy back in 2015 to save my house and it has been a nightmare. Last week I received a letter from Shapiro and Ingle (also a very shady company) nationstar's attorney stating that I defaulted on my payments and they advised their client that they are free to proceed with foreclosure. However, ALL of my payments have been made. I called my attorney and sent her the last 6 months of cashier's check copies and the tracking information where I sent each of the last 6 months payments. They have requested a payment history from Shapiro, which we have yet to receive. By my calculations I should be a payment ahead by a payment since I made a double payment in November. I thought they were just missing my April payment because the USPS tracking says that its still wandering around Texas somewhere. Today I receive a letter from Nationstar stating that I had not made a payment since March 2020. Now I know they received this one because the tracking said they did ( I am waiting on confirmation from my bank to see if these two payments have been cashed or not). I sent this information to my attorney. On top of that Nationstar sends me a bill stating I own them for their attorney fees and an inspection on the house. I am not paying for their attorney fees and there was no inspection done on the house, I have been working from home and there has been no one at the house. Lowest forms of life that I have ever had to deal with.

If I had the ability to give zero stars, I would. I am in the process of a refinance, and the underwritting department is a nightmare. The agent I am dealing with does not like to answer questions when the numbers on the documents, don't match what I am being told. The mortgage professional is not knowledgeable enough about the product to give accurate information on a consistent basis, and no one seems to understand the concept of communication. Definitely would not recommend, as I am about to walk away from this deal.

Have to agree with many others that this company is worthless, difficult to deal with and very poor customer service!
I have my current home mortgage with them so thought I'd just go thru them for a new mortgage. Mistake! Should've gotten another bid/estimate. Waited to do too long. Fortunate to find another lender with lower interest rate, however, now trying to get Mr.Cooper to transfer documents to new lender has been gigantic nightmare!

Mr. Cooper is AWFUL. They have sold my e-mail address and now all I get is about 15 spam e-mails a day!

Additionally, they have processed my monthly mortgage twice in one month. Upon contacting them they said it would take 5 to 10 days to correct their error. Unacceptable!

Now, they have deducted, along with my monthly mortgage payment, without my authorization, escrow for my wind and hazard insurance, which I pay directly through my agent.

This business is a scam!!!

I guess I will have to pay to have my loan moved to another lender. they are horrible.

Horrible

Horrible.

My husband who is a retired disabled AirForce Veteran recieved a call from a Mr. Cooper employee stating they had not recieved our mortgage payment in April. After some investigating his bank found out that the check was indeed cashed and deposited in the employees Wells Fargo bank account. We are currently filing a police report and thanks to our bank we have the name, address, and bank account the check was deposited in fraudulently. Watch out for the employees that work for this company. They are stealing money! We no longer trust this company at all!!!!!!!!

They do not deserve even one star!

After another terrible experience dealing with Mr. Cooper yesterday, I decided to make a formal compliant. As I researched, the complaints on the Revdex.com website pop up. An now after reading several of the reviews, I am in awe. I can relate to each of them reported. This has confirmed that this so called Mortgage company is the ABSOLUTE worst.

My experience is that they have inadequately trained employees as customer service representatives. For one, they are uneducated on bankruptcy laws and are trying their best to implement them. However, unfairly. My example is that they keep telling me that My mortgage payment is delinquent over the phone. However, I pay the amount that they send me on the bill. Apparently, I found out later that they continually increase the mortgage amount each month without officially notifying me.

According to the customer representative that I talked to yesterday, they cannot notify me directly, only the trustee. I met the trustee only once during filing for my bankruptcy. This doesn't seem fair that they want me to be responsible for making a payment that I never was aware that I owed.

And one last thing, fire all of the untrained customer service representatives who do not know how to talk to customers.

Mr. Cooper... where do I start. Due to the current pandemic, my income is now affected. So I read all the caring messages of assistance on Mr. Cooper website and called. I did not want to go the route of forbearance and owe one huge lump sum at the end as I will NOT have a huge lump sum to give, that is why I called.
I was told a few things here:
1. Since I am not currently delinquent , my loan could not be modified
2. Mr Cooper is ONLY the servicer of the loan but Fanny Mae owns it. (but you are the management company I MUST deal with it which is why I called so I wouldn't get behind in payments!!!)
3. I did fill out the paperwork and received this message from Mr Cooper:
YOUR LOAN MODIFICATION HAS BEEN REJECTED.We're sorry to inform you that we could not move forward with your request for assistance.

Mr Cooper tells you to stay in contact before a situation occurs and I did just that only to understand that I must be late, behind on mortgage or similar in order to get assistance. I work in sales and I know within the next few days, my income will fluctuate. To what degree I have no idea as this pandemic is new for everyone. Now I must feel the pressure of getting behind on my mortgage JUST to get the assistance I originally asked for. Be very careful if you must deal with them. Stick with someone like Wells Fargo, Bank of America or your own credit union. Steer clear of Mr Cooper! I am all ears if someone from Mr Cooper wants to reply with a better plan to assist people like me. Sincerely from a real home owner who asked for help. ***.

They have altered my loan and increased it due to an escrow they claim is not at the correct amount even though my insurance and taxes have not increased. Loan representative was rude and horrible because I did the background check to make sure I did not have a tax increase or a insurance increase. Next, I find they hit my credit for a late payment fee!!! I made my payment online as it's supposed to be. I never have had an issue with Chase. Now for last 4 months it's terrible with this company!!!

AWFUL!!! My mortgage was sold from Prosperity Home Mortgage, LLC to Nationstar Mortgage LLC d/b/a Mr Cooper and it's been nothing but Nightmares since. They have lost my escrow payments that have been made, then applied them and turned around and deleted them again. I have made 3 mortgage payments to Mr Cooper and they have applied 2 and lost one. I am disgusted that Prosperity Home Mortgage, LLC would sell my mortgage to a C+ company when I have excellent credit, and now I have go through this fight to get my mortgage corrected. NOT HAPPY!!!

I recently applied online with Mr.Cooper & was approved for a Pandemic Forbearance Modification ...but since that time & actually having not missed a payment yet..they have sent me threatening letters mentioning foreclosure & short sale...plus they are impossible to reach by phone....I will be filing a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission, HUD & the NYS Attorney Generals Office...they are unethical ,their practices are misleading and they misrepresent the facts by not mentioning upfront the homeowner will suffer the consequences if not able to repay the lump sum owed all at once.....very shoddy operation & a disgrace.

I've been trying to reach someone at mr cooper for 2 weeks and I can never get through! Its almost like they went MIA but still send me donotreply emails! They are the worst

They keep posting my monthly payments as additional principal, then I receive a notice telling me that my payment will be late if I don't pay by a certain date. This happens more than 3 times a year an I am fed up. Yes I have called. Yes I have complained. It does NOTHING!!!
