Per [redacted] ***'s request, her membership has been cancelled, and her annual dues refunded to her credit card as of Generally refunds reflect on the card within 2-business days of the date the refund is processed

While we regret that [redacted] was not happy with her membership, she never contacted us to discuss it until eighteen months after her enrollmentContrary to her claims, our renewal policies are explained over the phone, shown on our website (copy of those in effect at the time of her enrollment are attached) and make every reasonable effort to remind members of the renewalWe did cancel her membership in September We did not refund her renewal fee from the prior March, as it was six months after the renewal and ineligible for a refundWe do ask our members the courtesy of advising us as soon as possible if they do not wish to continue membershipComponents of the member benefits are provided by outside vendors, services for which we pay a full year’s fees at the time of the renewalThese fees are not refundable to us [redacted] authorized the March *, charge reflecting her annual membership dues During her initial enrollment interview, our representative went over the membership, beginning with the most comprehensive package – part of the goal of the interview is to determine the best package to fit the member’s goals and budgetWe want them to get the maximum benefits for the money, which is why they offer the options in the order they do [redacted] selected the Basic membershipThe acceptance of enrollment constitutes a verbal contract with a new member.Our representative also explained that NAPW uses an automatic renewal process, designed to protect [redacted] enrollment in and uninterrupted access to the benefits provided by NAPW and its business partnersPrior to concluding the interview, our representative specifically informed [redacted] that her annual membership would automatically renew [redacted] had the opportunity to opt out of our automatic renewal program at that time.Additionally, a member of our VIP committee contacted [redacted] on June **, to invite her to upgrade her membershipThough [redacted] declined that offer, our representative did go over some specifics about her membership and invited her to contact Membership Services with any questions or if she needed assistanceThroughout the term of her membership, NAPW made available to [redacted] a comprehensive membership services staff, which is qualified to field all inquiries and would have been able to work with her had she elected to opt out of her automatic renewal (or any other questions she may have had) NAPW publicizes the availability of this staff through multiple dedicated pages Each of these pages publishes the contact telephone numbers and email addresses, and provides a convenient form which this member could have submitted at any time if she wished to engage our staff for any reason, including opting out of her automatic membership renewalShe also had the specific contact information of one of our team membersFrom day one of [redacted] enrollment with NAPW, we communicated via email using the address she provided: [redacted] Email was clearly the primary communication channel, by which [redacted] received her monthly newsletters and numerous other organizational announcements A postcard reminder was mailed at the end of January 2016, to the address provided by her at the time of enrollment, which is the same as the one provided hereAdditionally, well before it was processed, NAPW sent [redacted] a courtesy reminder of her upcoming renewal transaction via email.However, this contact information is different than that which is provided in the complaint, so we conclude that at some point, [redacted] movedWe do ask our members to keep us up to date with their contact information, but [redacted] declined or forgot to do so.We have reviewed all of our records [redacted] did not contact us to cancel her scheduled renewal prior to processing, as required by our Terms & Conditions, so her renewal was processed as she previously authorized Her contention that we were not authorized and did not advise her is untrue she was informed of the policy at the time of her enrollment and we did communicate with her in multiple ways before her renewal to remind her of it[redacted] did contact us on September *, to cancel her membershipWe called her and left messages on September [redacted] requesting that she return our callWe did cancel the automatic renewal at that timeOur policy is that we must verbally confirm the member information before making any major changes to the member accountThis is to protect the security and privacy of our members, which is also why we do not offer the option of processing any transactions through our website[redacted] did not return our callsShe did contact us on January ***, (yesterday) sending three emails after PM ET, when we are closedWe were unable to respond to her until this morning, January **, and sent her an email that her membership would expire out.Her account has been closed and her profile deactivated.Tell us why here

We are sorry that [redacted] ’s experience with the NAPW has been less than ideal – we do strive to provide our members with resources and benefits to enhance and improve their lives, both personal and professional We encourage and expect our members to avail themselves of those benefits and to contact us with any questions or problems regarding their membershipsMembers who do take the time to explore and take advantage of the myriad resources available will find tremendous value in being a member of the NAPW This is a disappointing message to receive from [redacted] as her case is unique and it looks like a small miscommunication led to this situationAn inability to reach her by phone when she first contacted us has compounded the situation [redacted] ’s friend, to whom she alludes in her complaint, contacted us in order to make it possible for [redacted] to attend our annual ConferenceOne [redacted] explained what she wanted to do for [redacted] , our staff went to great lengths to authorize our highest level of membership, with all of the attendant benefits, including unlimited free seminars and webinars and other valuable resources in addition to her Conference admissionWe do make exceptions to our in certain circumstances and in this case, we endeavored to complement [redacted] ***’s generosity We set up this membership so that our automatic protocols – renewal, consideration for membership upgrades and the like – were deactivatedThis was done at [redacted] ***’s request Unfortunately, technology is imperfect, and [redacted] was accidentally selected for consideration by our VIP membership committee and was contacted on June *, This is the call to which she alludes in her complaint The representatives who contact the VIP candidates work with a list of questions with the assumption that the member in question went through the typical enrollment interview and subsequent nomination vetting We can certainly understand [redacted] ’s confusion about being considered – her membership was set up by her friend and she never did have the initial enrollment interview, and her name was mistakenly added to the list of Women of the Year nominees [redacted] sent us an email on July *, 2014, which she copied in her complaintWe attempted to reach her by phone on July *, and again on July * The number we have for her did not permit us to leave a voice mail message, so we sent an email to her requesting that she call us back at her earliest convenience She did notInstead, she sent a second email, accusing us of ignoring her requestWe again attempted to reach her by phone and again were unable to speak with her or leave a voice mailA second email message was sent to her and over the next few weeks, attempts were made to reach her by phoneNo one answered, there was no voice mail set up We did respond to all of [redacted] ’s emailsThe fact that she did not answer the phone, or have a voice mail option is beyond our controlShe did not read our emails – which may have gone into spam or quarantine It is unfair of her to claim that we have ignored her requests simply because she was not available to answer the phone, does not have voicemail and did not read her emailsNor did she provide any additional contact information in her emails to usWe made every effort to communicate with her to resolve her complaintOur records and logs are available for review if necessary The call by our VIP representative to [redacted] was not an act of malice or unethical; it was simply an error We take the claim that a member was "scammed" or that a charge was unauthorized very seriously NAPW provides an amazing value for the membership fee Included in ALL memberships levels are webinars, seminars, discounts, perks, online networking access and in-person chapter affiliation as well as a myriad of other benefits Our organization is growing, expanding and moving forward through numerous initiatives, strategic alliances and corporate affiliations; offering members additional avenues to ASPIRE, ACHIEVE and CONNECT Every member of NAPW's management team works diligently to deliver maximum value to our members, and any claim that someone was "scammed" is demonstrably false We currently have almost a half-million satisfied members, all of whom are free to use our online networking portal, which gives our members more connectivity options and far more ability to promote themselves than other networking sites We have over local chapters across America, in which tens of thousands of our members get together to take their online experience into the real world and create incredible connections with other professional womenThese local chapters are constantly implementing new ways for the local members to interact We encourage of our members to join all of the chapters in their area - this gives them more opportunities to attend events that fit their busy schedules and widens the circle of local women with whom to network Moreover, we host an annual National Networking Conference where almost two thousand members where members from all over the country enjoy an unforgettable day of networking, panel discussions, workshops and presentations from extraordinary women like [redacted] and [redacted] Additionally, we are constantly providing and working to upgrade the secondary benefits such as free or discounted continuing education through leading providers like Lorman Education and National Seminars Group; shopping and other discounts through a number of partnerships, including exclusive sponsors like Lenovo, one of the world's largest computer suppliers; and interesting topical content provided through our social media and other outlets Again, our entire team is working hard every single day to build these partnerships, identify and create content, and make greater benefits available to our members We have deactivated [redacted] ’s membership, and requested that she be removed from any future emailsThis may take at least ten days to be completed, during which she may continue to receive scheduled messages which are already in queue to transmit There is no refund due to [redacted] , or to [redacted] ***, as the fee paid was for the annual Conference which took place in April We invite [redacted] to contact us directly to go over her membership and show her the enormous value our resources can provide for her

[redacted] had the opportunity to opt out of our automatic renewal program at that timeShe was also advised to review the terms and conditions which were in place at the time and which are on our websiteA copy of those is attached here During the initial enrollment interview, our representative explained that [redacted] would receive an email containing login information for access to our members’ portal The next morning, as promised, our Membership Services Team called [redacted] to welcome her to the organization, assist her with logging in and accessing her member benefits, creating her professional profile and answering any other questions or concerns she might haveShe was unavailable, so our representative left a detailed message for her and confirmed that she did in fact receive the email and also confirmed her mailing addressThis was followed up with a confirmation email with important links, requesting that [redacted] contact her directly to go over her membership at any timeThe direct contact information for the Member Specialist was provided in this email as she was assigned to be [redacted] ’s representative for the duration of her membershipA copy of that email and the confirmation of delivery is attached [redacted] could have contacted this representative at any time for assistance with her benefits or to change the status of her membershipA copy of that email, with its date stamp, is attached [redacted] was selected by our VIP committee to become a member of our Circle of Women of the YearWe contacted her and conducted her interview and she accepted the upgraded membership on December **, She was advised of the new benefits and privileges and that her new renewal date would be on December **, [redacted] could have changed her renewal status at that time, but did not In addition to the Member Specialist who was assigned to her on October **, NAPW made available to [redacted] a comprehensive membership services staff, which is qualified to field all inquiries and would have been able to work with her had she elected to opt out of her automatic renewal (or any other questions she may have had) NAPW publicizes the availability of this staff through multiple dedicated pages Each of these pages publishes the contact telephone numbers and email addresses, and provides a convenient form which this member could have submitted at any time if she wished to engage our staff for any reason, including opting out of her automatic membership renewal From day one of [redacted] ’s enrollment with NAPW, we communicated via email using the address she provided: [redacted] – this is the same address listed on this complaint Email was clearly the primary communication channel, by which [redacted] received numerous organizational announcementsAll of these contain contact information for members who have questions or need assistanceWell before it was processed, NAPW sent [redacted] a courtesy reminder of her upcoming renewal transaction to the email address mentioned aboveA copy of the email register showing that the date and time the message was sent is attached We have reviewed all of our records [redacted] did not contact us to cancel her scheduled renewal prior to processing, as required by our Terms & Conditions, so her renewal was processed as she previously authorized [redacted] did contact us on December **, and spoke to one of our Member Services representatives, who explained why her membership was renewedShe issued a refund of the majority of her membership fee, less the costs we incurred for renewing her benefits with outside providers from whom refunds are not availableThese charges are incurred automatically at the time that the renewal is processedThis is why we send reminders of the automatic renewal and ask that our members have the courtesy to advise us if they do not wish to renewShe also changed the status of her membership so that it does not renew in the future unless she requests to do so She invited her to contact us so that we can assist her in maximizing the benefits which will be available to her until next December Members who do take advantage of these resources find that they are of very real value in advancing their success As a courtesy, we have issued an additional credit to [redacted] ’s accountWe also attached the terms and conditions in effect at the time or [redacted] ’s enrollment, which clearly state that members need to contact us BEFORE the scheduled renewal in order to cancel the pending transactionThis is why we send those reminder emails as a courtesy [redacted] received the email according to our records; she contacted us after the renewal was processedWe are accountable to shareholders and must follow the specific criteria to issue refunds [redacted] ’s reasons did not meet these criteriaOur team are required to explain, in detail, why her card was charged and what may happen should disputes be filedAs we can undoubtedly demonstrate that the charge was indeed authorized, she would not win any dispute; therefore we try to work with members to resolve these issues and they often blame us, unfairly, because they have not used the membership and forgot that it was set to renewAny member who contacts our department is treated with courtesy and we try to resolve any issues within the parameters of our policies and protocolsHowever, people are often disappointed that we cannot grant their wishes without questionMembers who request refunds and whose situations meet the criteria are immediately refunded

however, there areprotocols and policies which must be followed These policies are companywideand all of our team members are required to follow them [redacted] completed an application for membership in NAPW We assume that anyone who submits anapplication for membership has explored the NAPW to see what we are about andthey are ready to make a decision about joining the organizationWiththousands of applicants to interview and consider, we do require thatapplicants make their decisions at the time of the interviewWe prefer toallocate our resources to providing better benefits and services to ourmembers Applicants are then required togo through an initial enrollment interview OnOctober **, 2014, NAPW contacted [redacted] and conducted its initialenrollment interview During thistelephone call our representative explained the annual costs and benefitsassociated with this level of membership, and that all membership enrollmentsare final Because NAPW is amembership-based networking organization, the primary benefits at all levelsare found through our membership portal ( [redacted] ) aswell as through our face-to-face networking at our over Local Chaptersnationwide Additionally, through ouronline portal, members are able to access ancillary benefits provided by ourbusiness partners Because NAPW incurscosts upon enrollment with those partners, we maintain a final salepolicy Please be aware that membershipalone includes no tangible product to be shipped to the memberOurrepresentative explained that [redacted] would receive an email (within 24hours) containing login information for our members’ portal through which she isable access all of the online benefits and enroll in Local Chapters Our representative further explained that [redacted] should review our Terms & Conditions Subsequent to logging in but prior toaccessing her benefits, she was requiredto review and accept those Terms & Conditions Therein, [redacted] was provided with thedetails of our final sale policy, along with all other policies governing herrelationship with NAPW NAPW’s Terms& Conditions are available at [redacted] Within days of enrollment, NAPW physicallymailed a welcome package to the member containing a paid statement, amembership card and a welcome letter [redacted] was also told that the delivery of her plaque would take up to sixteenweeks – and it has since been delivered to herThe long wait time for the delivery is due to the fact that we haverecently changed the fabricator who creates these personalized items and wehave experienced some delays due to adjustments as we worked to make sure thateach plaque is created to meet our standardsWe expect this delivery time todecrease drastically when we resolve these issues NAPWemploys a comprehensive call recording and auditing function Our staff reviews the recording of eachcompleted interview for multiple compliance points, including that therepresentative explained the automatic renewal process as described aboveAspart of our investigation into this case, we reviewed that call again and [redacted] was made completely aware of these points at the timeThis interviewis available for review if required Throughoutthe time of her membership, NAPW made available to [redacted] a comprehensivemembership services staff, which is qualified to field all inquiries and wouldhave been able to work with her had she contacted us for guidance in accessingher membership benefits NAPW publicizesthe availability of this staff through multiple dedicated pages Eachof these pages publishes the contact telephone numbers and email addresses, andprovides a convenient form which this member could have submitted at any timeif she wished to engage our staff for any reason [redacted] had been selected for consideration by our VIP membershipcommittee and was contacted on January **, This is the call to which shealludes in her complaint Initially, shedid accept the upgrade, but called us back and changed her mindThe upgradewas immediately voided We take the claim that a member was "scammed",taken advantage of or that a charge was unauthorized very seriouslyNAPW provides an amazing value for themembership fee Included in ALL memberships levels are webinars,seminars, discounts, perks, online networking access and in-person chapteraffiliation as well as a myriad of other benefits Our organization isgrowing, expanding and moving forward through numerous initiatives, strategicalliances and corporate affiliations; I also received an "invitation to join" in the mail for this organizationIt made it seem like I was chosen to join this "elite group" and all I needed to do was submit my information onlineI then received a confirmation that I would be contacted by someone with NAPW to conduct a brief phone interviewI just finished the interview, which lasted over minutesI should have hung upThe woman on the phone asked me several questions about my work and then congratulated me on being accepted in to NAPWShe then proceeded to tell me about the different levels of membership and fees associated with theseThank you for wasting my timeI am not going to join an organization for over $989!! She became very pushy after I informed her that I would not be paying that much for a membershipI eventually cut her off and told her that at this time I would not be providing any payment informationDo your researchI wish I had before I filled out the information online

This member has been refunded Due to the age of her account, it was not possible to credit her credit card, but a check requested has been submitted in the amount of $1, This check should be issued within the next 7-days and will be sent directly to the member's address on file?
