National Association of Professional Women Reviews (824)

I was contacted in January asking if I wanted to join At that point I was just establishing my business and didn't see any harm to it A couple of months later (after I paid several hundred for one of the two memberships they offered me) I received a mailing from NAPW that offered (get this) a FREE membership The free membership was never given to me as an option over the phone with the representative I spoke go I called NAPW requesting a cancellation/reimbursement The best that they could do was cancel my membership, which I was more than happy to doI refuse to be a part of any organization that isn't upfront and honest about ALL membership offerings NAPW is just a company preying on uninformed women Don't buy into it (literally.) If they call and you REALLY want to participate, ask about their free membership that they reference in their mailings

This has been resolvedThe member has been fully refunded and her information archived in our database for record-keeping purposes only

*** *** was issued a partial refund of her enrollment fee a few weeks after she became a member in April We did not reduce the level of her membership as a courtesy to her. At that time, she was advised that her membership would renew at the reduced rate in 2014, to which she agreedMoreover, we did remind her of the upcoming renewal, sending a postcard in late February, followed by two email reminders in March*** *** did not contact us to cancel her renewalShe contacted us to question the renewal after it processed and was abusive and screaming at our representative, who offered her a partial refundShe refused to work with us and went directly to her bank to dispute itWhen her bank contacted our disputes department, we presented our case explaining the reasons why *** *** was renewed - and the bank agreed with us that the charge had been authorized
We then received another notice that *** *** was continuing to dispute this charge, that the renewal fee was deducted from our merchant accountWe chose not to challenge this second dispute as clearly, *** *** refused to accept the fact that she had indeed, authorized this renewal. At that point, we considered the matter closed - according to the paperwork presented by our merchant services account, *** ***'s fee had been returned to her
Subsequently, we heard nothing further from *** *** until she filed this complaint, making unfair and untrue claims about her experience with the NAPW, and we did respond advising her that according to our records, her fee had been refunded through the dispute process. We cannot and will not issue a refund for a fee which according to our records, has already been refunded
As a courtesy to *** ***, we did make a request to our merchant services processor to investigate the status of this dispute as we are still showing the funds as deducted from our account and not yet returned. *** *** is upset because this is taking time, but again, we are not going to issue a refund until we determine that the refund has not been issued already
As soon as the status has been confirmed, we will contact *** ***

This was refunded on October **,

*** *** authorized her renewal at the time of her initial enrollmentWe also sent a reminder of her upcoming renewal via ** *** *** at the end of October She did not contact us until two weeks after her membership renewed, and our preliminary investigation has confirmed that this
charge was indeed authorized and not fraudulent as she claims. We have attempted several times to reach out to *** *** to work on a resolution, but she has not returned our callsWe are further reviewing her accounts and all correspondence between to determine if *** ***'s claims meet the criteria for a full refundWe invite her to contact us directly to discuss a resolution

Paid a fee to join which was extreme, but told what I could get Later stated a need for additional fees for what sounds like the same as beginning Will not continue with this after this year I felt/feel this could be a scam

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ***, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:
Their response goes to show the misleading communication. I was under the impression the plaque was going to be sent and there was no mention that I had to pay for it. The minute I no longer could pay for these alleged perks, communication was minimal if at all. I do not believe they are credible and forthcoming to prospective and new members, coming across as high pressured sales individuals who prey on those who are vulnerable and trying to get a leg up in their career. A full refund or an admission of guilt is all that will resolve this claim

They lied about trying to reach meI contacted them this month and during that conversation they wanted to reduce the charge to $and I refusedI don't use their services and did not authorize the recent chargesFurthermore, the first time this organization reached out to me (in 2014), I authorized a $charge one time; they charged $seven days later and again this month - that's $of unauthorized charges for absolutely nothing resulting in fraudulent business practicesThis complaint needs to be elevated to egregious

We are sorry that *** *** *** has had a negative experienceShe did contact our offices, but did so well after our business hoursWe did receive her messages and responded to them by calling her first thing this morningShe did enroll with NAPW in 2015, and her membership was
canceled later that yearShe was renewed in error this year because we moved her data into a new system and her status was not correctly reflectedWe have issued a full refund, which should post to her account within two to ten business days, depending on the policies of her card issuer, and deactivated her entire profileHer billing information has been moved to an archive, which means that it is not accessible for any billingsAgain, we apologize for the error

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ***, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:
When I called they said "As a courtesy, that gave me $refund, not the $199" A courtesy? Really? You falsely charge customers and it's a "courtesy" I spoke with representative "Maria" regarding emails/calls and then hung up on me after I expressed I did not give verbal or electronic approval. She stated she could have the IT deptpull up the recording which I would LOVE to hear because I would not have authorized auto payI was trying it out no intentions of keepingRegardless, of calls or emails....this was NOT authorizedVery big flaw in their servicesThey disconnected with me twice when I calledWe went over the July *** email that states "Automatic renewals"......BUT I NEVER GAVE AUTHORIZATION TO BEGIN WITH SO THAT EMAIL DOESN"T MEAN ANYHING TO ME!!!! Because I never gave authorization, the payment would have never gone throughBut thank you for the "courtesy"!*** ***

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ***, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:
This was supposed to be a free trial -- not a huge fee before I even knew about it. I will not use any of the services offered -- I will never recommend them to anyone else -- I have continued to receive charges to my credit card. This is not reputable -- I was not invited -- I clicked on an ad. Now I know better. Not only was my experience bad -- but I can not believe that without using any services or filling out any profile, I have been charged so much money! This is highly unethical. I am happy to pay for services -- but not for no service. Do not claim it to be a free trial when it is anything but.I will not read a single email from this organization -- I will not join anything or attend any conferences -- I have not used anything at all -- and asked for this refund the following business day once I realized my company would not reimburse and that I cold not afford it. Also -- I do not remember hearing anything about it being non refundable -- please check that your employees say that very clearly in the future.I would still like some sort of an apology -- and a refund.
