Power Home Remodeling Group Reviews (609)

Review: We agreed to meet with a sales person from Power Home Remodeling Group after a door-to-door solicitation promised a quick and easy 30-45 min estimate. The gentleman who came was courteous and polite and took 3 hours to measure our windows and go over the products and options with us. Although we were unprepared to spend this much time with the salesman, the product seemed to be high quality and attractive. When I asked the salesman about the window and the installation, he showed a window frame, no more than 2" thick. I asked him explicitly if this was the size of the frame of the window that would be installed in my home. The salesman assured me that it was and even though their price was far more expensive than other contractors that we had had to our home to price out the project, we agreed to a contract with Power based on the word of the salesman. I was very concerned about a large frame taking away a significant amount of the window space. I also asked the salesman how the windows would be installed. He walked me over to my window and told me that the inside frame would be completely removed to make way for the new window. I asked him if he was sure about this and he said that he was. Again, we trusted him.

When the salesman was ringing us up, he selected the wrong window for the front room. I asked him about it, and he told my husband and I that when the project manager came, to drop his name and that he would change the order to match the right window for no extra charge. Although we were wary, it was very late and so we agreed. When the project manager came, I told him what the salesman had said and he told me that to change the order would cost an additional $800. Hardly negligible. However, since it was what I wanted, we agreed. (My husband later settled this issue with the company). When the project manager placed the order, he too made a mistake in the price that he gave us as well as the order. He had to come out a second time to measure and give us another price quote for what it would cost.

When the windows were finally installed, the frame of the window was not at all what the salesman had shown me. It is over 4" think at the corners and greatly reduces the amount of light that comes into our home. I was devastated when I saw this after the job was completed. I also noticed that they had not removed the inside frame as they said that they would, instead they put the new window inside of the old frame, again reducing the overall size of the window space and the light that comes into our home. Where they had to remove mullion, the installer filled holes with caulk which depressed upon drying and ruins the look of the wood framing the window. The wood that had to be replaced was not primed as promised in the contract we signed, and the installers left glass and other debris all over my yard.Desired Settlement: More than anything, I want the windows that we were promised when we signed the original contract, installed the way that the salesman said that they would be. If they are unwilling to do this, my husband and I would be willing to consider some form of financial compensation. I would also like for the Power Home Remodeling Group to come clean the debris out of my yard as it is hazardous to myself, my husband, my children and my dog.

Review: A representative from this company knocked on my door after dark while I was with my baby. He refused to leave when I told him I had a no soliciting sign. He pulled attitude with me and then went silent and refused to tell me what it was exactly that he wanted. He was like a petulant child and very rude. He actually ARGUED WITH ME about whether or not he was soliciting. UNACCEPTABLE. DO NOT KNOCK ON MY DOOR AND THEN FIGHT WITH ME.Desired Settlement: I would like this company to train their employees on appropriate interaction with potential customers and on the laws about soliciting (for example, do not go to homes with a no soliciting sign, and one must have a solicitor's badge). I want an apology and assurances that I will never have to hear from this company again.

We purchased attic insulation from power with the promise that it would reduce the temperature by about 20degrees. The attic was 130degrees before the insulation and when it was done they came back and it was 101. We are very impressed with power and will be using them again when we need them!

Review: After installing the soffit, the storm door on the front of the house only opens a quarter of the war because the clearance between the soffit and the storm door don't allow the door to open. I have called the project manager [redacted] a few times and he kept telling me he had been busy and hadn't had a chance to come out and look at the issue. its been a few weeks since the last time I called [redacted] with no calls back from [redacted] or Power Home Remodeling.Desired Settlement: I would like the soffit changed to a model that doesn't interfere with the operation of the door, or a modification to the door, which still looks good, and doesn't interfere with the door sealing.

Review: I had an estimate from Power about a year and a half ago. The salesman was very nice, however I had just purchased the home and could not afford the estimated work scope. I received a call soon after from a rep about scheduling an estimate. I told them I'd had one and that I would like to be removed from their calling list. About 6 months later I started getting calls on my cell phone from Power again. I called the number and asked them for a second time to remove my number from their calling list. I just started receiving calls for a third time from [redacted]. I've received two calls in the past two days. This is harassment. I want to be removed from their system completely. I do not want any more phone calls EVER from Power Home Remodeling. Please assist in getting my message across, because unfortunately my asking directly has yielded no results.Desired Settlement: I would like an email of assurance from Power Home and Remodeling via the Revdex.com. I would like it to state that they will not contact me ever again via mail or phone and that my contact information has been removed from their system.

Review: A couple of months ago one of your reps approached my home at [redacted] in [redacted]. We spoke and I set up an appointment for an estimate. My wife said she did not want to go with Power if we get some work done, as there is a guy at our church who does roofing. She called Power to cancel the appointment.

Since then they have called her cell phone (###-###-####) multiple times a day. Why? She said we don't want an estimate from you. Once she answered the phone to be even more clear. She said, "I am in sales. I understand the lead process. We are NOT a lead. Please stop calling us. We are not interested in doing business with you." That's pretty clear, right? Stating that "we are not a lead," is utterly clear to anyone who understands spoken communication. Yet the calls from Power have continued.

On top of the calls, a representative of yours aggressively approached my wife as she was trying to go pick up our daughters. He flashed a credential of some sort that seemed to be approved by our township, [redacted].

I have a variety ways I can proceed from here.

1. You can do as we asked and call us no more by telephone or in person.

2. I can speak with [redacted] about what we consider harassment by your company. I will be sending a copy of this communication to them as a precursor to following up later if necessary.

3. I can discuss with our Revdex.com the behavior of your company. Again, I will be sending a copy of this communication to them as a precursor to following up later if necessary.

4. I can contact the FTC about your harassment.

I expect this to be taken care of by next week, 4-25-2014. I would prefer you contact me via email to tell me you have remedied this situation. If you call my phone to discuss this, I will be recording the conversation for my records. Obviously, you'll be consenting to the recording under Pennsylvania law if you call me. My checking the "*I agree to these terms" box below is for you only to call me to resolve this situation. I am not authorizing any more sales calls.

Most Sincerely,

[redacted]Desired Settlement: I want this company to stop calling my wife and me.

Revdex.com. PLEASE READ THIS
I didn't want to get involved too much here, but since this company was very flashy with their "customer" reviews and awards from the Revdex.com and other places, I felt it was important to let other people know about this company. Look them up on Yelp and you'll see a pattern of what I experienced.
You wouldn't think you need to research a company before getting a free estimate, but I know better than that now. This company's Salesmen are very coercive. The use scare tactics to make you buy their products saying things like "your roof needed to be done yesterday" and "you need to protect your family." The truth is, I know my roof will need to be redone within a few years and I know my attic has a few problems. That's why I agree to the free estimate from the door to door "my company is doing work in your area and I was stopping by to see if you want a free estimate" guy. I have an older house. But my roof is still solid. I have been in my attic and I have walked on my roof. And I have seen roofs that needed to be done ASAP. Mine is not one of them. But the salesman made it sound like if I didn't get this taken care of within a month my family's safety was at risk. He pulled every salesman trick in the book. I caught on to most of them right away. After dragging out the "estimate" process for over 3 1/2 hours, he made me doubt myself about my roof, and as others have said, gave me 2 estimates, one if I sign a contract immediately, and one that was $2000 more that was good for a year. He was telling me I needed to get my roof done before the end of the summer; that it might last another winter, but that's it. He told me it was going to cost me almost $20,000 to fix my roof.
I told him I needed to think about it. That piece of mind that I was making the right decision was more important to me than the extra cost. That I needed a few days to think about it and I needed to know I was making the right decision before I signed a piece of paper. But he wouldn't take "no" for an answer. He was insisting I sign today because he wanted to "help me out" and make sure I got the deal. He even lowered the price a little more saying, "he would give me a special discount if I let him use the pictures he took of my house."
I am embarrassed to say, they almost got me. I almost signed and after doing some research, I am so glad I didn't. It's always important to do your research before making a $20,000 decision, and in my opinion, the reason why they want you to sign immediately is so that you make an uninformed decision. Many of my problems with my attic/roof are common, but in my case, not severe.
I feel the products and work this company does are probably good. But, in my opinion, still I feel like they are a scam for the following reasons:
- They perform an "inspection" and seem to make things seem worse than they are telling their customers they need immediate work done.
- Their products and service seems overpriced.
- There was a $2000 difference between signing immediately and waiting even one day to think about it. There is no reason for this except to pressure me into making an immediate decision.
Here are a few things they did that let me know they were setting me up for a scam:
- The salesman spent a long time trying to build a friendship with me before he did anything else to a point that I had to redirect him as to why he was there. I know, salesmanship, he was trying to build trust. But he didn't even know if I needed his services yet.
- He spent 30 minutes or more going over how great his company was and even more time about the products they sell, before he did the "inspection." Why invest so much time, unless you know you’re going to try to sell me something. That's a waste of his time as much as it is mine if I don't need anything. When we looked at the outside of the house he agreed with me that the roof looked like it could last a few more years. It wasn't until he went into my attic that he said there was a "serious" problem. It seemed like the whole thing was a 2 hour long setup.
- I knew someone before this inspection who just had their roof done. There roof was way more complicated than mine and had so many more problems, it did actually need to be done ASAP. There contractors did a really good job and they only paid $8000. So why was mine $20,000? Even if their products are a little better, they are not more than two, maybe even three times, the cost better.
I know I wrote a lot here. More than I planned on. I don’t want an apology from the company. After reading other yelp reviews, I know what happened to me was standard practice for this company. Some other states have even lower Yelp reviews than mine for the same reasons. I just want other people to know about this company and how they practice. I’m not the only one this has happened too.
I do not want this company to try to contact me. The Revdex.com may if they have any questions, but this experience was very upsetting and I don't want to be reminded of it or to have them try to "fix it," or try to sell me anything else. I just want the Revdex.com and other customers to know about my experience in order to protect themselves, and that my experience matches the experiences of many other people, at least according yelp customer reviews from multiple locations.

Review: I gave my contact info to them at a home show in [redacted] IL. They set a an appointment date to quote roofing my house and asked me to sign a doc giving permission to solicit other information. I refused to sign but they said the appointment was set. They did not show up for the appointment but called later asking for a new time days later. I refused and instructed them to remove my information from their system and that I wanted no contact from them and they were not to use my information. 2 week later I get a letter stating the I have been approved for credit based on based on my credit report which I certainly did not give them permission to obtain. I called the opt out number in the letter which they claim was through [redacted] but when the automated call start, they made no mention of [redacted] and immediately asked form my SS#. They said I would be on the opt out list for 5 years if I continued. I ended the call. Every thing seems bad and dishonest about this and I cant seem to get a human to remove my name from their system. Very deceptive and seems like the start of identity theft.Desired Settlement: I do want all my information removed from this organization but not sure you help with this. May have to seek legal action on my own to stop this. I do not want to reward them for these bad practices by saying nothing.

Review: My first complaint is lack of accountability from this company. We asked Power Remodeling to look at a window that leaked from the top whenever it rained. The first representative claimed we needed to replace the window. The "pre-installer" claimed the problem was the siding on the house, After paying over $3000 for new siding on the entire back of the house, the leak is exactly the same. We had a Power Home Remod. service rep come to the house to see that the leak was not fixed. He got on the roof and sprayed the hose over the window and pulled the drywall off on the inside which showed that the leak was indeed coming from a very small section of the roof, NOT the siding. I spoke with the Service Manager-[redacted], who said that they will not refund us for the job even though it was clearly misdiagnosed.

My second complaint is the high pressure, aggressive marketing tactics they employ at every encounter. They are clearly interested in over selling and not interested in standing by their work..Desired Settlement: Refund for the $3005.57 we purchased for a non-solution to our problem.

Review: We had scheduled an estimate to look at windows, but was not able to be home at that time. We told the lady who called this and she said she would call back to reschedule. Since that point in time the same phone number has called back at least 10 times and every time my husband answers it they hang up. After about the 5th call someone did answer when he picked up the phone and he complained to this lady. Told her that we would not be needing their service at this time because he was tired of them calling and hanging up on him. He let her know that he did not want to be contacted anymore, she got nasty and hung up on my husband. Since then we still are receiving phone calls that hang up on us as soon as we answer at least once a day. It is getting ridiculous and we want it to stop!

Review: To: Whomever it May Concern,

I am contacting you in reference to a recent roof installation (conducted on 7 March 2014)

In which a portion of the service provided, me nor my husband were satisfied with.

I would like to first start off with some positives; I was very impressed by how the young gentlemen whom presented the product to us during our consultation. He had a no pressure way about him and he also answer our questions fully. He was honest and put our minds at ease about purchasing your product. As my husband and I are a younger couple, we felt like we were respected and were not condescended to. I was also pleasantly surprised by how simple and quickly the financing process was. We had an excellent financing representative whom understood due to the nature of my government job that it was going to be difficult to obtain employment verification. And finally, the actual installation and product was mind-blowing. The crew who worked on the roof were extremely professional and mindful of our property. They worked quickly yet proficiently and made sure to keep my husband and I informed of the project status. When they found extremely rotten wood on the actual decking itself, they were quick to consult my husband on our options to remedy the problem instead of just installing the new roof over the rot.

But, with all that said, I have a major issue with how a portion of the financing was handled during the installation was handled. During the installation, the installers realized once they removed the shingles that 80% of the wood on my roof (the decking) was rotten beyond the point of being salvaged. The supervisor [redacted] consulted the gentleman that we had been working with on the details of the installation and the financing ([redacted]) .The installers then spoke with my husband whom was home at the time and informed him that they would need 18 more sheets of wood from what was included in the contract. It was completely understandable when I was called by [redacted] saying that the extra wood would raise the cost of the roof. He stated that the extra wood be approximately $1,700 and that he did not know if our financing would be able to accommodate that amount. I told him to call my husband and speak with him about the situation. [redacted] informed him of the situation and told him that bank would be called to see if the extra $1,700 could be placed into the financing agreement which was already approved. [redacted] also stated that he would call my husband back to tell him if the bank agreed to finance us and if not talk to him about other options.

We both agreed that the new decking would need to be installed and there was no point in taking shortcuts in this project. The huge and disturbing part of all this is that [redacted] never called us back and the project was finished. On 10 March 2014 (approximately 3 days late) my husband received a call which he had missed from [redacted], the installation supervisor stating that there was room for the extra $1,700.00 in the financing agreement from the back and that all was well. The next day (Tuesday) , my husband received a call from Dianne in your finance department stating that they had to contact another bank to receive financing from for the extra $1,700.00 . My husband was infuriated considering that neither of us had been consulted about obtaining financing from a different bank nor had either of us signed anything to authorize this transaction. My husband called me to inform me of the issue and I was very upset and felt betrayed because your companies’ representatives had gained our trust and this completely smashed that trust to pieces. I had been ranting and raving to my co-workers and family about the service that I had received and was planning on obtaining a quote to have my siding and windows redone but now I have doubts about trusting Power in the future with my business.

We were not even verbally consulted about obtaining a loan through another bank. The answer we receive when we inquired about why we were not asked about obtaining a separate loan for the additional work was that there was a misunderstanding between the work-site supervisor [redacted] and the financing department. Obtaining a different loan from a different bank is NOT an area where misunderstandings are acceptable. If we were informed that there was not a way to get the $1,700.00 in the existing loan my husband and I would have found a way to obtain the money. This situation is frustrating because we are still young and establishing our credit. We do not need/want other lines of credit being extended if we can avoid it but, without us being asked if we wanted to check with another bank to obtain the additional funds we did not have the chance to make alternative plains

In closing I am VERY disappointed in how this situation was handled and hope that in the future better communication can be had between the client and your company. As for my husband and I, we are sorry to say that we cannot trust your company to attend to our home improvement needs in the future. As I said before, misunderstanding or not, this is something that potentially will negatively affect our credit in the future and could have been easily been avoided.Desired Settlement: A portion or all of the $1,700.00 to be waived or other compensation also a written apology

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:

I do not have an issue with the addtional financing, the problem is that we had been told by the gentleman we spoke to on the

From the start I had a feeling of confidence. The presentation and price point is where I want to be. I am really happy with. Y decision to use power and will tell my friends.

They were efficient, very clean, and punctual. The installers even cleaned off some branches on my roof even though they were installing windows, very helpful. This is the third project I've used power for and I would use them anytime I need work they can do, I trust the job will go smooth every time!

Review: I hired Power Home Remodeling to install a new roof on my home in December of 2012. When they removed the existing attic fans they simply cut and left live wires in my attic. These fans had been attached to a thermostat which was programmed to turn on the fans when the attic reached a certain temperature. When summer came and the temperature in the attic went up, these live wires tripped my breaker as a safety because no fans were there. This resulted in 6 outlets and an overhead light not working in two rooms. I did not know this until I hired an electrician who found the problem on his second visit and he charged me $349.00. The electrician said this was very dangerous and could have started a fire. I contacted Power Home Remodeling via online customer service and explained everything and asked to be reimbursed for the sloppy and unprofessional work that resulted in my $349 bill. I received a return call at my work number that I had left. When I called them back the customer service agent had an attitude with me, asked why I would wait 7 months to call as though my claim was ridiculous. I said it actually made perfect sense because I would not have known about the problem until hot weather. Also, I did not have the money until then to hire an electrician. The customer service agent continued to have an attitude with me. I told him I would send the bill and a letter from the Master Electrician who could explain what he found. The customer service agent told me it would not matter if I sent it or not. They were not responsible for my problem. I told him I was reporting the company to the Revdex.com and I would see them in small claims court as I have every intention of being reimbursed. Please help.Desired Settlement: I wish to be reimbursed for the $349.00 I had to pay the electrician.

Review: We scheduled an appointment with Power Home Remodeling for 11/06/14 to replace 12 of our windows. However, my dad passed away unexpectedly on 11/01/14 and then my 6 year old daughter had to be taken to the emergency room around midnight of 11/02/14. My wife, sone, and I eventually caught the same virus. With the death and the virus I called Power Home Remodeling and asked to reschedule. The representative was very distasteful as she threatened to fine me 17% of the cost if I moved it to far into the future. The latest day she would give me without penalty was 11/17/14 so I took it. The lady was astoundingly rude. I waited until 8:00 on 11/16/14 to remove all of our window dressing which was required just in case they called me to cancel. Our windows are old and drafty and we have special covering on them, especially in the babies room, to keep the cold out. The weather was going to be in the teens on 11/17/14 with light rain so I wasn't sure. However, they never called so I prepped. The next morning, after the time they were supposed to arrive, they called and got my mom who was there waiting since my wife and I had to work. My mom said the lasy was extremely ugly as they cancelled the appointment and said that we would have to get it done by 11/21/2014 or we would be fined 17%. That gave us 4 days! My step dad has cancer and he has appointment on Thursdays and Fridays and we were trying t finish funeral arrangements, as well. My mom asked for 11/24/14 and the representative reiterated that if we push it past the 17th we would be fined. Being that they cancelled, and what we were dealing with, it was absolutely inhumane to not give us the 24th or later. We had no time to reschedule and replan for m step-dads cancer and m dad's funeral arrangements. My mom was very upset at how that woman talked to her, as I was when I had talked to them as well. I think the company is dispicable and if I could, Id cancel the contract because I do not want to give them my money or have them on my property. No company should be able to treat someone this way. I cannot control that my dad passed and I cannot control that they decided to cancel the second appointment after they were supposed to have arrived for it.Desired Settlement: I either want the entire contract cancelled so I can contact another company to replace my windows, or I want a discount. Companies like this only understand money and it is unacceptable for consumers to be treated this way. My preference is to just be rid of them.

Second, my problem with this company; is that my wife nor I ever spoke with or gave written approval to any Power Home Remodeling consultant or representative to do a credit check. Power Home Remodeling recently installed replacement windows in our home, we love the windows! Company employees were informative and considerate. Can not say enough good things about the install crew, they had windows in with minimal disruption to our home and clean up was thorough and complete.. Would recommend this company highly to anyone looking for a company to handle their home remodeling

Review: I had hired this company to do window replacement in my home. The work was done satisfactorily and I was happy with the service and material.

they installed 3 windows to my satisfaction. When I placed an additional call, at a later date, to do other windows, the problem started.

They would not come in to talk to me and take new measurements without my wife being present. At first I thought it was a joke, but found out they were serious.

I didn't need a sales person or a new pitch...... I wanted to continue in the same style as the previous windows installed..... double hung vinyl windows.

They gave me a story that they needed to talk to the entire family. I am not sure if this was some coverup of another reason but I feel I was discriminated against

as a male. There was no decision process to be made...... only an additional order to be placed. Because of high costs and my having some 27 windows, I

need to proceed with doing the job in stages.Desired Settlement: finish the job
