Power Home Remodeling Group Reviews (609)

Review: Power completed our roof and gutters service in March 2014, project manager told my husband and I that by referring our neighbors, we would receive a $300 gift card. Our next door neighbors had Power complete their roof repair (and some work inside the house due to roof damage) this weekend (June 2014). They told Power they were referred by us. My husband spoke to their project manager also, and he got a "round around". Today, 6/30/14, I called Power's main number and explained the situation. I was asked when our work was done, and when I said March 2014, the employee just said that they just discontinued that referral program. I feel cheated. I know this might not be a big deal, for them, but I am very disappointed because this is the SECOND time that Power doesn't stay true to their promises. First, we called for an estimate, and never received a call back...and then, when we decide to give them a second chance, we are promised a gift card, and now, that is not even true! We are now paying thousands of dollars for the work they have done, and they can't even keep their word.Desired Settlement: I want the promised $300 gift card for the referral!

A salesman visiting my mothers house (78 yrs old and widowed, living alone) and gave her a quote of $31,800 for replacing a roof, fixing some "broken" beams in the attic, and adding a ventilation system. We proceeded to get 3 quotes from reputable local firms we have done business with in the past. We had them check the attic for ventilation issues and inspect the "broken beams." All 3 said they did not see the "damage" that the salesman from Power reported. All 3 had a quote for full repair under $10,000. After leaving numerous messages with them via phone and Facebook to call me, they finally called my mother back. The caller defended the quote saying their quality is top of the line and they would never take advantage of anyone. Please get multiple quotes regardless of what they say. We have found their assessment of the damage to be incorrect and 3x's the price of reputable contractors that I personally trust. I have a hard time letting go when I know someone is out there trying to take advantage of people.

Review: The first time I used Power Homes Remodeling, 2013, to install fascha and replace gutters on my home. They underestimated the amount of materials needed and it took about six months for them to return and finish the job. They claimed the delay was because they gave me the wrong book to choose materials from and the materials I choose were custom painted. Less than a year later, my gutters are overflowing and all are completely marred with water marks yet Power Homes refuses to repair.

The second time they knocked on my door, I was going to use them to insulate my attic. (I hadn't noticed the gutter problem at this time.) They overestimated the amount of insulation I would need. They quoted over 1700 square feet when three other contractors estimated less than 500 square feet. It is interesting that Power Homes has a clause in their contract that says all extra material is returned to the factory - yet the customer pays for it. My estimate from them was over $6000, other contractors came in under $500. Once I showed them this information, the immediately withdrew the contract. Now they refuse to fix the gutters. The service person, Ryan, is extremely rude and told me "that's fine" when I told him I was going to social media. No wonder this company is rated F with the Revdex.com.Desired Settlement: I would like my gutters fixed so that they are not an eyesore to my house. I do not believe they should be looking like they do after less than one year. Power Homes is shifting the blame to the roofing company and/or me.

Review: On June 24th, 2014, a Power Home Remodeling group representative was in our neighborhood offering roof repair / replacement quotes. We are in need of such, so we let him in to do his sales pitch. He went up in our attic to examine the roof and decking and he stepped off of the rafters and onto the drywall and fell right through our ceiling in the living room. A couple feet of old (1979) insulation dust fell down through the gaping hole, coating our living room, to include my laptop which was on the coffee table. The insulation dust was everywhere; in our carpet, on our couches, coffee table, etc. The next day, one of the warranty Managers, Steve P. said they would send someone out to fix the hole. I also requested a professional cleaning and to have my laptop replaced as well. Steve said they would fix the hole in the ceiling and have the living room professionally cleaned. One week later, someone from Power Home Remodeling came to fix the ceiling hole and allegedly "professionally clean" the room, which only really consisted of him using a shop vac. My husband and I had already spent about 7 hours cleaning the living room with a shop vac, among other things, on the night the damage occurred. The repair to the ceiling hole looks terrible. The patch he put up really sticks out... it's a brown square on our white celing and the texture is not even close to matching our existing ceiling. It looks completely different than the rest of our ceiling. We called Steve P. back and told him the repair was sub-par and that we were unhappy. He said he would hire a drywall and / or textured ceiling expert this time to come to our house and re-do the ceiling patch. On July 25th, Power Home Remodeling sent the exact same person to re-do the patch that initially fixed it the first time. They did not hire a drywall or textured ceiling expert. I asked the Power Home repair guy why he was back to fix the patch and he told me that he had consulted some drywall experts that now he knew how to properly fix the ceiling and match the texture to the rest of our ceiling. He also told me that Power Home Remodeling does not paint when the repair is complete so that the patch will blend and that painting the ceiling would be left to my husband and I, which I find completely ridiculous. Why should we have to pay for supplies and perform any type of work invoiving this repair when Power Home Remodeling group is responsible for the entire damage in the first place? I am extremely frustrated and tired of trying to deal with this company, who doesnt seem to care whether or not this incident gets properly resolved.Desired Settlement: I would like Power Home Remodeling Group to hire a drywall / textured ceiling expert, preferrable from an OUTSIDE COMPANY, to fix the giant hole they created in our ceiling. I would also like whomever fixes the ceiling properly to paint so that the ceiling is all one color of white, like it used to be before Power Home Remodeling stepped foot in our home. I strongly feel that the inferior repair job they keep doing will seriously impact our re-sale value in a negative way. I would like to be re-imbursed for my laptop, which was covered in insulation dust because of Power Home Remodeling group and is running extremely slow ever since. It's only a matter of time until the laptop is completely non-functioning. I would also like Power Home Remodeling Group to provide a PROFESSIONAL CLEANING SERVICE like they said they would. They caused the damage to our ceiling and should be responsible for the repair until the ceiling patch is as close as it can absolutely get to matching the existing ceiling. The ceiling repair work they have completed at my house looks extremely amateur, at best.

Everyone was very professional, and their work ethic was way above average. I was a carpenter for 40years and I was very impressed with the workers.

I am happy with the process up to this point. I like the fact that Power stands behind there work even after the sale. The warranty means alot to me.

Response:

HORRIBLE. Stay far away. initial salesman appointment was for 7pm. his "presentation" lasted FOUR hours. when we finally managed to kick him out at midnight I should have realized something was off about these guys. There was a funny moment when he wanted to inspect the attic. Upon returning he claimed to not be able to breathe and that we had mold up there and he was highly allergic. We had to get the roof replaced ASAP, he wheezed, it was a matter of life and death. He then proceeded to use our bathroom to wash his face and compose himself. Amusing, since we do not have such an issue in the attic. We do, however, have a mold issue in the bathroom, where he emerged perfectly fine, no worse for the wear from his ordeal in the attic (lol). Despite this nonsense, and after much deliberation, we decided to give them a shot at a large project (roof and siding) through financing they had arranged. Liked the technology they were using and the lifetime guarantee seemed appealing.
The initial guy hands the project over to a "project coordinator" who sends a site inspector out. He stayed for 3 hours and decided that before they could begin, we needed to make some improvements to the deck and chimney first, otherwise they couldn't offer the lifetime warranty. They offered no help in recommending someone to perform this work, but despite that I get it completed and the inspector comes out again. by this time the financing offer had expired. Anticipating this, I contacted them weeks earlier and told them they'd need to extend the financing offer. Impossible they say (this is where I point out that their financing guy is patently incompetent). no big deal I thought, just get another loan (credit is quite good). offered me a new financing offer at an outrageous 18% interest + a lien on the house. um, no thanks.
To boot, the paperwork they sent contained documents they required me to sign in which I agree that all work has been completed 100% to my satisfaction. They didn't lift a finger on the project, but they wanted me to sign paperwork saying I was completely satisfied with their work and that they were under no further obligation to me as part of the loan conditions. again, no. All the while they were rude, dismissive and unwilling/unable to follow up properly. These guys are crooks through and through. They are highly deceptive and rely on intense pressure and scare tactics to make deals. I have no doubt that the workers actually performing the work are good at what they do and the project would have been completed to my satisfaction. The issue with this company is the deceptive practices, lies, high-pressure tactics and general incompetence of their office personnel.
I pride myself on honest reviews, so I stand by my statements here. My sincere and strong advice to anyone looking to do business with these criminals is to run the other way and get someone local. As a final FYI, their project cost was $40,000. Our local contractor was able to do it for less than half of that, and I trust them FAR more. It's times like these that I wish I could award zero stars, but if I could warn just one person to stay away from Power Home Remodeling, the one star will have been worth it. You've been warned

Review: My first attempt to get a quote for a window with PHRG was on October 28th, the staff seemed friendly and I made an appointment for that Friday the 31st, Halloween. The rep was close to forty five minuets late, when I called he informed me that they had scheduling conflicts because of the holiday and asked if I could reschedule. Obviously I was annoyed that nobody had called me but I understand mistakes happen so I made another appointment, the rep assured me that he personally would come out on Monday. He never showed up and never called. I then had to go on a business trip, when I returned I set up a third appointment and in true PHRG fashion nobody showed up and nobody called. I called in the next day after the third missed appointment and was upset, I was greeted by a courteous employee who did his best to calm me down and we made a fourth appointment, it is worth mentioning that on this call was the first time that ANYONE had requested that my wife also be there to meet the rep and sit in on the meeting. We had set a meeting for Monday the 17th at 6:30, unfortunately I had to cancel because one of my young children was sick and I didn't want anyone in the house that evening. I called in and rescheduled for the next day Wednesday at 1:00, at no point did anyone ask me if my wife would be there. The next day the firm called me to confirm the appointment, the employee asked me if my wife would be present to which I replied no she would be at work and that I would relay the information to her.

It was then that the employee told me that it is company policy for both members of the household to be present for this quote, that because the quote is (guaranteed for a year in writing?) that both of us must be present. I pleaded with him to make an exception because my wife would not have any free time this week and that I desperately wanted a quote before the holidays. He became short with me and told me there where no exceptions, I also became agitated to which he replied he would just cancel me as a customer. After a few hours I cooled down but really wanted some answers. Why on earth would my wife have to be present for a FREE QUOTE? Not to sign a contract, not to discuss financing but for a simple quote? If this was so essential why was this not mentioned the first three times I called and attempted to make appointments, it it was so important such a crucial part of company policy why wouldn't they make sure I was aware of it? Nobody even asked about my wife until the third call. It was bugging me so much that I decided to call in and ask for a manager, I was transferred to a voice mail where I left a message. I was upset and let him know it, I let him know where I'm in an industry where associates show clients million dollar homes and don't require their spouses to be there! We also show up when we make appointments. The mangers name is Charles and as with everything PHRG he ignored my call and never called or emailed me.Desired Settlement: I'm not 100% sure what I want my resolve to be, I was referred to them by my neighbor who said they were disorganized and below average in service but the price was good and we also have a difficult window to replace. I assumed being a referral and with them having prior knowledge on the product that it would be a good fit. What I really want is someone to call me and explain to me what on earth happened, how they could possibly justify treating a client this way, then maybe (and maybe I am just an absolute buffoon) we could have a rep who cares about service and provide us with the simplest thing, a FREE QUOTE!!

Seal on living room window broke and water got in so we decided to replace that and 3 other windows. We were approached by this company at a fair, and my husband told the guy he wanted an estimate..."no 3 hour sales pitch." After 3 hours...yes, my husband told him "no 3 hour sales pitch" and he was here exactly 3 hours...the guy gave us one price if we "buy right now" and a price of $1,050 more if we buy after tonight. I flipped out on him. He knew how furious I was, and he was visibly upset, but his answer was he shouldn't have shown me the lower price. He tried to get me to talk to his manager on the phone, but I refused. Needless to say, he's not getting our sale. As a matter of fact, we're so annoyed, we're keeping our foggy window.

second time we used power the job people are always polite, and professional. will use them again and refer our friends

Power has been extremely professional and excellent communication. There was never a time when someone said they would follow up they did follow up. This is impressive as you don't see that in today's society.

Review: 1st Salesman [redacted], convinced me to purchase new windows and new gutters for my house. I knew I wanted new windows, but my gutters had no problems but he promised me a good deal if I buy them together, and promised impeccable service and warranty of all work done on the windows and gutters for life, and promised all work is done directly through Power and not a 3rd Party. The windows and gutters were installed by a 3rd party, [redacted] from [redacted], but I let that go even though they broke their original promise. After the gutters were installed and it rained we observed a leak in our gutters that we did not have with our old ones. When we made a complaint about the leak, they sent someone to look at it and they told me that it is not the gutters, it is the roof and I must change the roof. During the sale and installation of the gutters, it was never brought to my attention that the roof had to be changed in order for the gutters to work properly and to prevent from encountering any future problems. If they told me I would have to change my roof I would've cancelled the order of the gutters. Their pricing was at least 25% higher than most other window, siding, and gutter companies but the things they promise and the fact the are Revdex.com accredited set my mind to ease. I've tried multiple times to have this issue resolved but was unable to.Desired Settlement: I don't expect them to install a new roof for me. I would like them to either refund me for my gutters or pay half the expenses that I incur to install a new roof.

Review: Been consistently harassed by Power Home Group after agreeing to a free estimate. They came to my door, basic solicitation, saying they were doing work down the road and wanted to inquire about a free estimate for my roof. I need a roof badly , so agreed to a estimate. They asked me about 10 questions (how old is the house, when was the roof done, how soon were we thinking of getting the roof done, etc. etc.) Afterwards, I made an appointment for the estimate and was told that they would call before hand to confirm the appointment. I received a call about an hour before the scheduled appointment. The person on the phone asked the same questions -(how old is the house, how old is the roof, is it walk-able, what time frame are we thinking of getting the roof done) I gave them all the answers again and then they asked where is your wife? I said she is out with the kids, but I expect her back soon. They said then they would have to re-schedule. I told them I re-arranged my schedule to be there. They said they were sorry, but they need both of us at home. Don't know why but -ok. We made another appointment and then they hung up. My wife came home 10 mins later and told her what happened. She said - they sound like scam artists. I told her - I looked up there Revdex.com rating and there website - they look ok. The next time they called 5 mins before and said they were running late. My wife and I were home and weren't going anywhere, so we agreed to wait. Then they ask me - How old is my home, how old is the roof, etc, etc. I said - Wait I told you that 2x already. They said well - it's not in the system. We waited and waited, they did not show. The next morning they call me at 8:30 am to tell me sorry we ran late and couldn't make the appointment, can we re-schedule. I say ok. Then they ask me the same questions again. I gave them the answers. They ask if my wife will be home too - I said she's out, and that I will ask her. They said they would call back before the appointment. I told my wife - again she complained but reluctantly agreed to be around again. It comes time for the appointment - no call no show this time. All the while keeping the whole family at home because we can't leave if we want an estimate. My wife says - I m done with them. They call back . I tell them is there anyway they can do this without my widfe at home - she doesn't want me to use Power at this point. she could care less about the roof. Why does she have to be here. He said it's there policy. I said well then maybe it's not a fit. We hung up. They call me a couple of days later at 8:30am again. (!?!?) This time they say it's not a big deal if shes not there, but they prefer it. I make another appointment when I know she'll be home - he then asks me the questions (How old is my home, how old is the roof, etc.) I try to answer without laughing.

The day comes they call an hour before the appointment and ask my those famous questions again and then Is my wife home? I say she should be but was told it wasn't mandatory, I tell them she should be home at that time. They say she should be home now, but ok. They never show. They call again and again - always with the same results. They always ask the same questions too. To me - it's harassment.Desired Settlement: I would like them to stop calling early in the morning (they never leave a message on the voice mail) and maybe apologize. I still need a roof but will be going with a mom and pop probably as big companies like this don't care about anything other than the bottom line.

Review: Met with representatives of the company regarding home improvement. Planned for insulation, garage door and entry door. Final choices and colors so everything matched was to be finalized on 3/28/14.On 3/26 a man came to the house to measure door. I informed him that I was going to make changes to the door and not to order anything. He responded that he measures and does not order and he will inform the company of our discussion. On 3/28/14 I was made aware that the garage door had been ordered without color matching and Icould not change anything. Also on 3/28/14 the representative knew nothing regarding finalization on products and colors. He was just here for the entry door. Color for the door that were previosly discussed were not possible Attic insulation could not be done without clearing attic which is was I was told did not need to be done. I tried to rechoose colors and designs. I was not sure of my chooses and told the saleman not to order anything until I confirm my choose with my boyfriend. At the point the salesman got upset, was raising his voice and told me everything was final and I could not change anything. We argued and I again informed him not to order anything. He said he would call me at 5pm to discusse final chooses. At 5 pm [redacted] was yelling at me and informed me everything was ordered and could not be change. At that point the unprofessional rude behavoir of the saleman had me so upset that I told him to cancel project. I felt presured and threatened by the saleman. I have had numerous calls afterward with a [redacted] decussing cancellation of projects which resulted with no resolution. He proceeded to repeatable call my phone and even went as far to send workers out to my home who started unloading materials onto my driveway. I spoke with [redacted] on 3/10/14 and he knew about the workers being sent out to my home. This is unprofessional behavior and considered harrassment. No work was performed and no material should not have been ordered or delived. I cancel credit card that was opened but not yet charged to avoid any unauthorized charges.Desired Settlement: Project cancelled due to mispresentation of work to be done, unprofessional and rude behavior or the company. Harrassment with repeated phone calls and workers being sent out to the home under the knowledgement that I canelled project.
